L: Chicken Mushroom Pie, R: Chicken Jalapeno Pie
Esosa A.

This place might be called 2 Phat Bastard Pies, but there must be an angel in that kitchen because I can't remember the last time I tasted such a tender, flaky crust. The filing in each was flavorful and distinct, the chicken and jalapeño pie in particular was the perfect level of spicy. Chicken and mushroom was a saucy, complimentary, herby companion. 15 minutes for two amazing pies was no hardship, and everyone I spoke to was really nice. Very chill, casual atmosphere as well, so don't hesitate to walk up and enjoy flaky, filling goodness.

Well, I have never had Zimbabwean and Indian fusion food before! Absolutely loved 2 Phat Bastard Pies. The chicken curry pot pie was fantastic -- I specifically asked for a non-spicy option and they pointed me to this and they nailed it. Flaky crust, flavorful filling, and perfectly comforting. What a fun spot and the two owners/chef were delightful.

These pies were sooo good. We had an event at the POST for two days, and I was hesitant to try these on the first day because the portion size seemed small for the price. However, they pleasantly surprised me!!! We got the steak n mushroom and beef curry pies. Both of them were VERY flavorful and PACKED with meat. I believe they were around $12 each, and one was already enough to make me full!! They bake these fresh, so they came out piping hot, and I loved the little initials on the outside. So cute! I believe the two people working were the owners, and they were very friendly!

I will come back here when I am in Houston! The staff was so nice (Mom and pop shop), they bake all their orders on demand and ask you to be patient as they prepare your order. Filling, delicious, spicy, crunchy, airy, gravy-like goodness. So delicious, a shame one filled me up as much as it did! Be sure to stop by if you can, this is located in one of the prettiest food courts I've been to. The lights, the stairs, it's an experience for sure!

I'm Zimbabwean, and actually happen to be from the same city as the owners of this establishment. One of their fathers used to own a very popular pie/takeaway store in the city and my mom and I used to go all the time. I loved that place. Discovering one of my favorite foods from home in Houston made my year. That pepper steak pie tasted exactly as it needed to and brought me so much comfort. I know the US is pretty unfamiliar with meat pies, but I truly don't think anything beats them. Thank you so much for bringing this here! The food is fantastic and I can't wait to see you expand!

Came here because my fellow Yelper friend wanted to check this place out. Wow this place has a 5 star rating, impressed. According to there website: "Zimbabwean-natives-turned-Houstonians bring a mouthwatering indo-african delicacy to life, savory pies! Hailing from Bulawayo's favorite pie shop, "Oriental Takeaways," 2 Phat Bastard Pies are a product of a bromance between two reunited immigrant families that share the simple goal of spreading happiness, one scrumptious pie at a time." Service- when we arrived at the kiosk the young server that rang us up told us that it was a family operation, which I love. His mom/dad were in the baking makes the pies as we ordered. They were all smiles and happy to share there favorites on the menu. They told us to come back and let us know how the pie was, which we did. Food- it did take a while, we walked around while waiting. But I don't mind a wait if it means straight from the oven food. I got the chicken curry, it's definitely got some kick to it, came out nice and hot. It is indeed very flaky. The chicken was just a touch dry for me, but that's my only complaint really. And that's based on my taste comfort only. She got the paneer and lamb pie, which she enjoyed. We didn't get offered any sauces but my friend went back and got all 3. The fries sauce was yummy. Love a mom/pop business and the service was 5 star. Wishing this business well.

We went to Stesi on a weekday for dinner and it was dead. But we came with one goal in mind: to try Phat Bastard Pies--and we did just that. These pies are made fresh, so don't expect them to come out in five minutes. That said, they're absolutely worth the wait. We ordered the beef curry and chicken curry pies. A little detail I loved--the lady who brought them out pointed out the "C" and "B" baked into the crust to tell which was which. The crust itself was awesome: buttery, golden, thick, and flaky. When we cut into them, they were steaming hot! Flavor-wise, I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. The chicken had more of a flavor punch, but the beef was hearty and homey in the best way. One pie is definitely enough for a meal. So happy to hear they've already moved (or are moving) to The Post--hoping the new location gets them more visibility and the foot traffic they deserve.

I wanted to try a couple places in the food court and I was glad 2 Phat Bastards was one of my stops. The pie was delicious. Very crispy and flakey on the outside and the filling was really good. I almost got a second for later.

If you're looking for a great spot in Houston to get some meat pies, this is the place for you! Located in the Post Food Hall, 2 Phat Bastards is a convenient and fun spot to grab a meal or snack. The servers are so kind and the pies are baked fresh each time! While you're waiting for your pie, you can wander around the extensive dining area or take a trip to the spacious roof. I tried the curry lamb pie and the chicken samosas. They were served hot, crispy, and so flavorful. They definitely have a strong yet delightful spice kick and were very filling.

Beef Curry Pie

Cashier recommended beef over chicken curry pie & it was really good! Crust was flakey & curry had a nice spice to it. Pretty big for what you pay for so i took some home too

Located in the POST as one of the stalls. Parking is free for under 1 hour in the paid lot. I got the lamb curry meat pie; it was quite pricey at $12 for a standard size pie but it was flavorful and the crust and interior was delightful. The owner was very friendly as well; the pie took around 15 minutes to make and get ready. Definitely a good option to try something different if you don't mind paying for the ambiance at the POST.

This is an Uber Eats order review: I order online. I read reviews on Yelp and it seemed like a restaurant that wouldn't let me down and it didn't! I got the vegetable curry pie. Oh when I saw my mouth was in party mode. All the flavors, so savory, creamy. The crust was so buttery and soft. Wow, wow, wow. I was a little apprehensive about paying $15 for a vegetable pie - but I am wholly satisfied. That pie was a MEAL! And a delicious one at that. I can't speak to the ambiance or service, but the meal was so satisfying that I can only imagine the rest of the stars would line up accordingly. 5/5 for me. At least for the vegetable curry pie

We've come at least 6 times in the past few months and it's good. The chicken is always yummy and I love that they offer different sauces. We've done takeout, hosted parties, and also Doordashed it and eaten in. Each time it's been great. My favorite sides are the crispy brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. I ordered the halloumi sticks with chili jam and 6 lemon & herb wings. I'm a huge fan of halloumi, but their halloumi sticks were nothing to rave about. No better than grilling halloumi at home. The chili jam tasted like a sweet fruit jam. No noticeable chili pepper flavor or even spiciness. The grilled wings were OK. The wings looked undercooked based on the color of the chicken skin, but thankfully they were cooked all the way through. The lemon and herb flavor was lacking. I had to dress the wings up with the medium spice peri peri sauces and peri peri ranch to get some kick of flavor. Best thing about this place was honestly the service. Staff members were friendly, and the kitchen was very fast at prepping our order.

They have a lunch special going on right now that starts at $9.99 which is really worth it. All together (including the free bread for first visit with the app) it was $14. Would definitely recommend!

They offer a daily small Happy Hour, a decent rewards loyalty program for frequent customers and their Sauces!! Which I may add are available for purchase and I might have a few flavors at home.......shout out to the Medium Garlic! They offer parking in both the front & back and a semi shaded small side patio. A few small changes that I have noticed since their opening: they no longer offer lunch portions/specials and sadly the Rainbow Bowls no longer come with turmeric cauliflower Oddly, as many times that I have visited, I am either the only one there or at most, 1 of 3 people max. Hopefully it's just the early afternoon time of day I always seem to stop in because I would really like this place to stick around. And as much as I enjoy a good rewards program, their scanner has never worked once since initially joining so I have to manually input my receipt barcode into the app. Not a big deal but I haven't redeemed any rewards yet either so hopefully that will be a smooth process. And if I may end on a suggestion, Please lower the music by 2 levels. I have to put my noise canceling AirPods in every time because it's just a tad too loud and distracting to hold a convo. Other than that, Welcome to the 'Strose Nando's!

Our waitress was so kind as to go through the menu with us multiple times when we had questions, and she had such great recommendations. To start off, I ordered the banananeira, which was not what I was expecting at all but still really tasty. I expected a sweet drink, like a banana pudding type drink, but it was instead a bit more tart as if it were a green-yellow banana (maybe also a little more tart from the lime and pineapple?). Whatever it was - it was actually really good and refreshing. For my second drink I also got the Goan Sunset. Also delicious, and arguably my favorite. I think more people would like the Goan Sunset as it's more refreshing and fruity, but I did enjoy both of my drinks. For food, we started off with the samosas and empanadas de carne. I really liked both, but I actually really enjoyed having the empanadas with the sauce that came with the samosas. The apple chutney that came with the empanadas was a bit too sweet for me, but I'm really not a fan of sweet sauces with my savory food though. I usually prefer more tangy/spicy sauces if anything, so that could just be personal preference. We also ordered the Goan fish curry, the lamb kebabs, the naan, and the pao buns. Both the fish curry and the lamb kebabs were SO good. I'm not the biggest fan of lamb usually, but those kebabs were great. I personally really liked the pao buns, but my friend liked the naan better to have with the food. (The pao buns are a little sweeter, but man I actually really liked them with the fish curry!) Honestly, the food was so good we couldn't resist dessert. We ordered the sticky date cake and man it was so delicious. I was really craving more caramel sauce on the cake though, but still great. Would come back here again!
