Was happy to hear that a Nando's opened up close by as I had seen their booths at multiple food festivals around town. Really nice and bright decorated restaurant with lots of menu options. They offer a daily small Happy Hour, a decent rewards loyalty program for frequent customers and their Sauces!! Which I may add are available for purchase and I might have a few flavors at home.......shout out to the Medium Garlic! They offer parking in both the front & back and a semi shaded small side patio. A few small changes that I have noticed since their opening: they no longer offer lunch portions/specials and sadly the Rainbow Bowls no longer come with turmeric cauliflower Oddly, as many times that I have visited, I am either the only one there or at most, 1 of 3 people max. Hopefully it's just the early afternoon time of day I always seem to stop in because I would really like this place to stick around. And as much as I enjoy a good rewards program, their scanner has never worked once since initially joining so I have to manually input my receipt barcode into the app. Not a big deal but I haven't redeemed any rewards yet either so hopefully that will be a smooth process. You select your flavor profile for your chicken and then they bring it out to you with a little sign on top reminding you what each one is. The ambience is clean and fun. They are playing Afro beat/African style music that fits the food and restaurant. It's upbeat and fun. It's loud enough to make you happy but not too loud where you can't have a conversation. What we ordered: Peri Chips/Perinaise sauce- 10/10 Brussel Sprouts- 1000/10- (The sauce that they put on top is fantastic and unique) Rainbow Bowl- 10/10 Chicken Liver- 9/10 Naughty Nata- 10/10 Red Wine Sangria- 10/10 Peach Lemonade Poncha- 1000/10 The favorites were the Brussel sprouts, hands down fabulous. Yum! This restaurant really specializes in chicken, and sides that pair with chicken. The restaurant decor is super cute and I really like the chicken mascot. The staff is super friendly and upbeat and they really treat their customers well. The buffalo chicken wings were on the small side, however the flavor was great and I absolutely love the vast variety of sauces you can choose from. Each sauce is quite unique and I can't choose a favorite because they're all great in different ways. The 1/4 chicken had a smokey flavor paired with seasoned moist chicken and the garlic bread was super garlicky and buttery and perfectly toasted. The Mac and cheese was super creamy and the panko topping gave it a wonderful textural element to make it even more indulgent. The Brussels sprouts are spectacular and set apart from other Brussels sprouts. Nando's seasoning makes it a flavor bomb and the creamy sauce further enhances its deliciousness. From the cash register person and another employee who gave me some solid recommendations this is definitely a place I'd be back to for sure! Had an amazing experience finally trying Nando's in Houston after being such a fan of it in London! The restaurant is clean and spacious with tons of seating, and the staff was so welcoming towards us when we walked in. The service and hospitality was amazing. You order on your phone and they bring it to your table. They had just introduced a new flavor when we went, the Peri buffalo, and brought us some wings on the house to try, which was so nice! We ordered the 1/2 chicken of the Peri buffalo, medium, and lemon herb flavors. Food came out quick! The chicken itself was a bit dry, but extremely flavorful. They have all of the sauces available for you to grab and bring back to your table if you want some extra flavor, which I loved. 10/10 for the sides! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here! I first checked it out at a Yelp Elite event and was curious to try it out on a weekend. J and I stopped by on a Saturday around 8pm. It was pretty empty and a server quickly greeted us and showed us their menu. We were taken to a booth, then went up to the counter to place our order. We both decided on chicken breast - I wanted the peri peri while J opted for buffalo seasoning. I had a side of mac and cheese while he wanted to try the corn. We decided on the mango rosalita to share as I was very impressed with that drink at the Elite event! We sipped on the mango rosalita which was sweet and tangy! We both loved it. Our food all came out very quickly and the servers were kind to check on how we were enjoying it. We tried a few of their additional sauces but I realized I loved the peri peri seasoning of the chicken the most! The medium spice level was good - I would be curious to try the hot level on my next visit. As usual I adored their Mac and cheese - it is so creamy! The corn was also quite tasty. Opted to dine in and enjoy the experience. Seated promptly and enjoyed a seat near the window. Placed my order via the representative at the register but you can order from your table. Management stopped by to see how we were doing, extra customer service points! We decided upon the Rainbow Bowls and they were so flavorful. Got my protein, veggies and carbs all in one place. This new Nando's location is a welcome addition to the Montrose area. This particular location is very well decorated and has an excellent staff. We visited around 6pm on a Tuesday evening and we had a very brief wait for our food after ordering. We were even lucky enough to receive an extra piece of chicken that they accidentally cooked. I ordered the quarter chicken with brussels sprouts but I was also able to try the mac and cheese. These are both premium sides, and I would gladly upgrade to them every time. The mac is rich and creamy with an excellent breadcrumb topping--if only we could have Nando's mac on our Thanksgiving table! The brussels sprouts are well cooked and seasoned and not bitter at all. They're also topped with a mayonnaise like sauce that adds a bit of creaminess and a subtle hint of spice. Nando's chicken is the obvious star of the show. Both the leg and the breast were juicy with a quality sear / char on the outside. I got to try the lemon and herb and the peri buffalo flavors and I would also order both again. An assortment of sauces are also available if you decide to go with the plain-ish chicken route or just want a mix up between bites. Again, the staff here are excellent. So, after the elite event a few days ago, I decided to hop on over a few more times to see if the service really lived up because early experience was... Elite. I will say that the staff were just as sweet and hospitable as the day we had our Yelp Elite event. They served with a smile and I love that. First time I came I had hot but they gave me white meat and I don't eat white meat so I ordered dark again but they ended up giving me mild. The hot was decent but I did not like the mile second time I came the other flavors were a bit too hot for my niece. I, of all of them, really liked the plane chicken. The sides are actually really good as well. I got the mac and cheese and the coleslaw the first time and the second time I got the mashed potatoes. I love the mashed potatoes. So flavorful and thick. Really delicious and tasty. In total, I would say the hot chicken is about an eight out of 10. The mild chicken is about a three out of 10. The coleslaw is about a 7 out of 10. The mac and cheese is about a seven out of 10. And the mashed potatoes are about a 9.5 out of 10. Also...Kendra is incredibly sweet! Keep her! She is so pleasant and accommodating. Nando's is known for their flame-grilled peri peri chicken that's been marinated for twenty-four hours before hitting the grill. If you like flavor (ahem, who doesn't?) then you'd like all that Nando's offers. This Nando's is located in a lot shared with a few other establishments, so parking may be come a small problem at peak times. The casual counter ordering makes it a breeze once you step in. Otherwise, you can order at the table with a QR code and everything will be brought to the table. The interior colors are bold & bright and their plates are designed with South African vibes, so its a whole feeling. Their chicken is moist and juicy with all the flavor you want ranging from no heat for the plain jane or citrusy (lemon + herb or mango + lime) to medium, hot, or extra hot. My tip is to go lighter if you're hesitant with heat and you can always add your favorite sauce on it with their bottled sauces available near the soft drinks machine toward the back. My favorite flavor is their lemon + herb and I like it hot on the peri-o-meter, their version of heat levels. I find it just perfectly spicy where I can still taste the natural flavor yet kickin'! The wings are A-OK, not my numero uno as they come off dry compared to their boneless thighs, bone in chicken (white and dark meat), and even their skewers. There are lots of options to choose from on their menu including sandwiches, platters, bowls, salads, shareable, and sides. Having a kids menu is a plus for those looking to enjoy a smaller/lighter meal or for the young ones. The desserts are alright, nothing too special but I do appreciate that they make Naughty Nata, their version of pastel de nata. With more than a handful of alcoholic beverage options like wines, beers, spiked lemonades, and then all the fountain drinks and teas one could ask for, wash it all down with one you like. I highly recommend trying their Rainbow Bowl that's loaded with tons of veggies, hummus, seeds, and your choice of chicken for a deliciously filling and satisfying meal or really any of their bone-in chicken options for bold flavor. The sandwiches are my last choice whenever I visit because I don't find it as satisfying as having the meat itself. I was lucky enough to score a ticket to the soft opening of this new location and it DID NOT disappoint! Clean, organized, and spacious restaurant. The staff were still getting the hang of operations (to be expected with a soft launch) but were so incredibly nice. Multiple employees chatted with me during my visit. I got the rainbow salad with Halloumi, the Brussels sprouts, and the roasted sweet potato. I was worried the salad would be a little dry as that can happen with grain bowls so I preemptively got extra sauce. However, it was one of the most balanced grain bowls I've gotten in a while. I was able to clearly tell each flavor from each other and they meshed so well. The Brussels sprouts are going to become a go to when I order, however I was very underwhelmed with the potatoes. I may reorder them later down the road but they weren't worth it in my opinion. The mango limeade was so good I got another to go! Never thought I feel some sort of (good) way about grilled chicken, but this is the spot if you ever want to prove that grilled chicken belongs on your weeknight plate. The grilled chicken breast at Nando's is moist, smoky, and falls right off the bone. I've tried both the lemon pepper and the mango lime seasonings - both mild on spice, but delivers on the slightly tangy flavor that amplifies the chicken completely. The herby garlic sauce was also a perfect complement to the chicken. On top of the great food, the service is unmatched. The servers are extremely friendly and accommodating, and the manager was overseeing the venue and talking to the customers to make sure their food was delivered! All the Nando's storefronts I've been to have beautiful interior decorations, and I especially appreciate the sinks that are separate to the bathrooms for easy access to clean hands! It was not very spicy, but the sauces were tasty from the spices and they had a good variety of sauces which I appreciated. Coming from other chain chicken places, I was a little underwhelmed by the size of the chicken pieces based on how much we paid but due to the taste and the chicken being grilled not fried, the price is not unreasonable. I was first introduced to cheeky Nandos 20+ years ago when I was studying in Oxford. The location on Cowley Road was the place to go after drinking heavily with brilliant/tortured English middle-aged academics looking to feel alive and requiring a cheeky Nandos to settle down all that liquor in the belly for the evening before inelegantly making way back across Magdalen Bridge in the small hours; had the college buttery not served such Krusty Brand imitation gruel we likely would have dined out less, but cultural exchange is all about bypassing gross local food for delicious local food, something that made us all fall in love with Anthony Bourdain adventures. I was first here at this Montrose outpost for a yelp elite event. I reviewed that event separately, as the yelp rules require since it was not an authentic customer experience. At that elite event we did not get to try all of the sides so that was good justification to come back soon to try what I would normally order for myself: the coleslaw. As I ordered things that were not available at the elite experience, this review is only about my experience as a genuine customer with an authentic customer experience. Nando's outpost in Montrose is an overall great experience for a mighty fine meal. As hard as I can think on it, there are only two demerits, one of which they can control and the other they cannot. The factor they can control - the music inside is way too loud. I am a crotchety old man, and hey kids get off of my lawn while you are at it, but there is no need to turn the music dial up to 11 like this was a gat dang KISS tribute band concert. The factor they cannot control: it is a tiny parking lot shared with a bunch of other bidnesses, so parking is difficult if you are with car. Apart from these gripes, it is a satisfying chicken and coleslaw experience. This is not in the same league as Popeyes, even though Andre Nickatina does not have a song about cheeky Nandos unlike the Popeyes being Certified, according to him. Cheeky Nandos chicken is unbelievably moist and juicy. Since it is a kitchen you can peer into from most tables, you can easily observe a high standard of cleanliness and that they actually clean the grill frequently. So if you want this thang as mild as it comes (toothpaste is spicy, fight me) then you are in good hands here knowing that the grill will be cleaned off from the super fire megadeath sauce used on the prior patron's flamin' Moe's chicken. As flavourful and moist as the chicken is, the coleslaw side is even better than the chicken. Coleslaw is one of the few sides that do not come with an additional upcharge - mac and cheese is a $2 bill extra, ranch on your fries is $1 extra, and so on. Meanwhile, coleslaw is the superior (no bonus cost) side to order since it is not just creamy, but a flavourful mouth journey. This is one of the best coleslaws I have had in a restaurant outside of Aunt Jenny's in Gulfport, MS, a place I have stopped in for road trips between Tejas and Florida all the way back to the 80s (several paragraphs above I said I am old, I am actually old-old). If you know that Jenny's magick on the coleslaw, you will be reminded of it here. If you don't know that Jenny's magick on the coleslaw, take one bite of a cheeky Nandos coleslaw here in the Montrose outpost and you will want to get in your car and drive to Mississippi just for lunch before the next hurricane season threatens the Gulf once again. The workers are all polite and kind at this location of Nandos. I found that we were frequently checked in on by a growing cast of characters while I was doing math on how many orders of coleslaw I needed to order to fill up my bathtub at home so I could splash around in it as the good lord below intended. My reputation as a diva either precedes me, or they just do that for everyone. It is not exactly a quiet meal here among the loud music and constant interruptions to check up on you, but if you like feeling important this is the place to dine since you are literally waited on by hand and foot by several people in the resto. Each location of cheeky Nandos has unique art and design to distinguish one from the other in different neighbourhoods, cities, and even countries now that they have spread beyond England into the Commonwealth and the Colonies. This location in Montrose is well appointed with the gorgeous lampshades that draw the eye from any corner of the resto. The outside is painted beautifully to entice you on in. There is plenty of other art and tapestry collections on the wall indoors. The place is very nicely decorated and feels far more upscale here than cheeky Nandos felt as a student back on Cowley Road. As for parking, invest in signs or placards that tell people what to do with their car when the tiny lot in front of (and back) are full, and make clear where you can park without getting ticketed/towed. Other than that, sign me up for more cheeky Nandos in Montrose. read more

My friend and I come here for dinner after a great time at an Yelp Event here a few weeks ago, the first thing I notice is there is not handicap parking in the front parking lot, only in the back lot, I wonder why they did that. When you walk in you will be seated at a table and that when you are ready to order you go up to the front counter to order and they will bring the food out to you. You can get your our drink and silverware but one of the wait staff help us because he probably see my disability. I like that fact they have a hand washing station in the middle of the restaurant and that's because there is a code lock for the restroom. Great service here, I usually do not leave tip if I order standing and have to get my drink but they were being helpful so I but some cash in the tip box up front. My favorites are the chicken (I ask them to cook it a little extra because I love a char) I typically do medium and the fries and brussel sprouts are the freaking best. Their tea is delish. Throughout the entire time I was present, the service was excellent. We were seated promptly and allowed time to review the menu before ordering at our own pace. After receiving our food, several members made sure to check on us in case we needed anything. I ordered the Rainbow Bowl with chicken breast and enjoyed every bite. The chicken was seasoned and charred well and full of flavor, with the seasoned rice and additional bowl toppings complementing the flavors nicely. As we were eating, the staff brought my wife and I a couple Nata's (custard tarts) on the house, which were mildly sweet, delicious, and a great way to finish the meal. This location goes above and beyond in terms of customer service with staff! I got their medium chicken leg with fries. The medium was not that spicy but I enjoy their large selection of sauces. The chicken was juicy and a bit smoky. The fries were good, not the best but got the job done. I'm not sure if the price is worth it but I'll definitely come back next time I'm craving Nando's! read more

I am so glad that Houston has not only one but two locations in the city!! I couldn't wait to try the Montrose location! My favorite item to get is the 1/4 Breast and Wing with the Lemon Herb sauce. It's consistent, juicy, flavorful and charred to perfection. The flavor from the grill is so delicious. I've never had any issues with bland chicken at Nando's and if you're someone who likes spice they have many different spice levels to choose from but I always stick with mild. The interior in this location is lovely and represents the South African culture beautifully. I would give Nando's 5 stars but my only complaint is the sides. Unfortunately they aren't the best. I've tried almost all of them and the fries, brussels sprouts and corn are good, not spectacular, but the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese need some work. They also have a buttery garlic bread that's tasty. I'd recommend Nando's to anyone looking to try something new. You won't leave disappointed! read more

Came here after a Yelp Elite event because the gave us some free meals. We had the quarter chicken with a side and then added three more sides and drinks. If you have kids, this is the place to go because kids have the best combo possible for under $7. We were really full after 1/2 a chicken and then several sides. I forgot to take pictures but the food was flavorful and filling and we didn't feel overwhelmed by the amount or feel like our bodies took in something bad after the meal. Staff was fantastic and they seat you when you come in. You can go up and order or you can pay by phone from your table. Parking was immediate when we got there. As we were leaving we noticed it was really full however the back parking lot had spots. read more

First time partaking in South African cuisine & let me tell you, Nando's did NOT disappoint! The manager (I think) SJ was very gracious. When I mentioned my appreciation of the art on the menu, she filled me in on their practice of periodically changing their menu- featuring a different artist's work every time. This was my first time tryin Nandos and I was not disappointed! For starters the atmosphere was amazing! Beautiful and vibrant decor throughout the place. I like that you order first at the counter and pay for your food so it makes it easy when you're going with a group and don't want to worry about having to get separate checks! Plenty of parking in their parking lot that was free. Now food: SO FREAKING GOOD! Of course we tried all of the sides and they were unreal. My top favorites were the Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and the Mac and cheese. We had the peri peri chicken like and herb and the flavor was great! Also tried the CLT sandwich and wings. Sandwich was on garlic bread which made it even better! We placed an order to go for dinner and it was the perfect size for our family of three. First time eating at Nandos and I have to say the flavor of the food was really exceptional. 1. Chicken legs: great flame-grilled taste....you could really taste the char which I love 2. Chicken sandwich with coleslaw: weak on the amount of coleslaw on the sandwich but otherwise good 3. All sides were extremely overpriced for the portion you receive. - Mac n cheese was like 2 small ice cream scoops full. -Cauliflower was a small portion and was just meh...should give a larger portion when serving such a modestly priced type of veggie in my opinion - fries were excellent. Crisp and salty. - sweet potatoes were good. - all sauces were pretty good Service was kind of slow for takeout but I think they're still getting in the groove since it just opened so that is forgivable.
