Update Dec 2025: finally tried the gumbo and it was amazing, topped with white rice. The crispy brussels sprouts are a must order, we're a little salty, but I eat most of them. The loaded mashed potatoes are amazing, I add a few pickled onions, pickles, jalepenos, & BBQ sauce. If your belly has room for more, don't forget the sliced white bread. The servers are always on point and ready to serve. Don't forget this wonderful BBQ spot in The Hub at Greenway Plaza! read more

Finally got to go eat at Feges BBQ greenway on Wednesday, which is when they have the brisket burger. The burger was go but not the best I have had. The cost was a bit higher than most as it was just a burger no fries, no drink. I had 3 yummy sides along with the burger. All was good. I came. I ate. I paid. I left. Thank you for the good food. read more

We tried the Feges BBQ on Longpoint in Spring Branch a couple of months after they opened. Both my wife and I thought it was going to be great based on word of mouth and reviews, but we were both disappointed over quality and related price point. It wasn't horrible, but we've had a lot better BBQ at more reasonable costs. We went back a couple of weeks ago just to double check and had the same reaction as the first time. So we gave it a good try, but it is definitely not a place we'll go back to when there are so many other better options not all that far away. read more

Awesome BBQ in The Hub at Greenway Plaza. Cant go wrong here. Bbq plates, sandwiches, and baked potato's are always great. However I really look forward to their daily specials. The wings and the brisket nachos being two specials that really stood out to me because of just how good it was. Looking forward to trying more of their specials. Staff is always friendly and the line moves along pretty quickly. Rarely a long wait. I most definitely will continue to have lunch here at least once or twice a week. read more

First stop off the plane, was on the fence on either @fegesbbq or another spot. I saw carrot cake on the menu and that was the ultimate decider. This is my first time here and was surprised to walk into a food court. I'm a sucker for sliced pork belly. The immediate hit of the sweetness that comes off the pork and the taste of smoke. Between bites of the spicy jack cheese sausage that balanced the spiced with the simple is best fight in my mouth. Such a nice and smokey brisket melted into my mouth and into my soul. Btw a wonderful dark crunchy bark. Makes me miss being in TX. Between these fatty smoked meats, the elote corn salad was a nice acidic and refreshing bite. And in the end the thing that made me want to come here. The carrot cake! So moist!!! best carrot cake I've had? Idk, but I cant think of anything else right now. All this in the last place I expected . . . a food court of all locations. After my meal, definitely I agree with their shirt of being the best food court barbecue in TX . . . heck the US. Even without falling in that niche category, it was a delicious meal. read more

Food was great ... bbq is expensive but food costs in general eating out. I would eat here again.

First time at GW and I couldn't pass up the chance for BBQ! I recognized the person taking my order from Facebook posts. I told him I enjoy a good fatty slab of brisket and he went back and took a whole brisket to ensure I had what I wanted. It was a fabulous meal! Those pickles are the stuffs of dreams. Sorry, this one just didn't do it for me. The staff was definitely stand offish, if not stiff to the customers. Definitely couldn't give a rip for whoever was in front of them or when they brought out the mystery food from the kitchen. No carving in front of you, no readily viewed meats in warmers, just mystery doors and your number called whether you are dining in or away. Worse the food was just above room temperature, pretty chewy and dried out. No telling when or how the meat was either cooked or stored. Definitely not living up to the hype. The brisket was much better than the pork ribs so if you want to start somewhere, there's the target. All of it was good, but this is supposed to be in the top echelon of Texas BBQ and it was nowhere close. I had the brisket and pork ribs. Both were uninspiring and I've had much better from the triumvirate of Texas regional players (Rudy's, Coopers, & Blacks). The sides were the least inspiring. The loaded mashed potatoes had a great concept but sorely lacked in execution. That was NOT very fresh and I was there at 11:30. How much earlier was it cooked?? Finally, I used to compete in cast iron cooking contests and the lowly cornbread is an exceptional way to differentiate chefs. So sad that this wasn't much better than something pre-baked from a grocery store. read more

Greenway Plaza's food court is a sight to be seen. Beyond the visual appeal, the quality of the food there is impressive. I'm envious of those who work there. In the past, I've come to check out burger-chan which is on Alison Cook's list of Houston's top 100 restaurants. Alison Cook works for the Houston Chronicle and is Houston's leading food critic so I enjoy reading her restaurant reviews. Another restaurant that has made Alison's top 100 is Feges BBQ so I checked it out on my third visit with a friend. They have a parking structure adjacent to the food court and the vendors in the food court will validate your parking for two hours. I went with the two meat plate with two sides. For my meats, I went with whole hog and brisket. For my sides, I went with the potato salad and the mac and cheese. Like most BBQ spots, they have BBQ sauce, bread, onions, and pickles available for your heart's content. Disclaimer: I'm a Killen's BBQ fan boy and it has been tough for other BBQ joints to get on that level in my book. Feges is definitely a worthy competitor that gets all of my praises. Since they're only open for lunch, make a trip out there, it's well worth your time. What differentiates Feges from other spots is their innovative sides that extend beyond your usual BBQ sides. I went with relatively basic sides but they were o so good. In fact, the mac and cheese was some of the best I've had in quite some time. The potato salad didn't disappoint either. If your more adventurous, they have quite a few veggie sides too. While the sides are great, we know the meats are the center of attention. The brisket was flavorful and had some nice bark to it. I enjoyed dipping my brisket in the two BBQ sauces available as both were good--one was more tangy and the other more sweet. The whole hog stole the show. What is it exactly, you may ask? Take some pulled pork, chicharrones, and the tangy BBQ sauce and they crush it all up so all of the individual components blend. It gives the allusion that you're eating some pig with the skin attached which I'm sure was part of the inspiration for the name. Great stuff. Like pretty much every BBQ spot out there, you order at the counter and they carve and fill your plate right then and there. Service was friendly. Make sure to get their early as they run out of meats. After my visit, Feges BBQ has joined my top 3 favorite BBQ joints in town. read more

Historically when I venture over to Greenway Plaza, I'm in pursuit of the deliciousness that is Willet Feng's unami burger from burcher-chan, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the hyped up Feges BBQ. I was excited, because I was a fan of Plonk! where Smith was previously the chef. I'm uncertain if I caught them on a bad day or if they've just been bribing Houston area food writers, but I was wholly unimpressed, especially at this price point. I ordered the 1 meat plate for $14 and got the brisket with a side of mac-n-cheese. I certainly don't mind some fat on my brisket, but this cut of meat was almost half fat. Despite the fat, the brisket was still a bit dry. It was, however, very tender and quite tasty. Again, I was mostly disappointed I didn't get more of it/a better cut--especially for $14 + tax and tip. The mac and cheese was good, but nothing to write home about (see: Grace's). In an attempt to get full, I loaded up on bread, pickles and red onions at the condiment station, but alas, I left hungry nonetheless. Given the number of people who love this place, I'd probably be willing to try them again if I was in the area, but I won't go out of my way at this price point. My wife doesn't like BBQ so I don't get it all that often, but I definitely think Gatlins and Fainmous are head and shoulders above Feges. read more

Feges BBQ - Slice of brisket that was almost half fat - Barbeque Near Me - Houston, Texas

Wood smoked meats in an office building food court done very well!? Yes! We were worried about having to pay to park which adds to price of the meal. Not so, they validate for up to 2 hours. It took us a little more than an hour to eat some 5 star 'Q, look at the other restaurants and score a couple great coffees and a cookie at a coffee shop. The three meat plate with two sides fed both my wife and I very well. The sliced brisket was very tasty and tender, the pork ribs were the star of this show, both of these were 5's, the only average thing on our plate was the sausage. We picked the brussel sprouts and charro beans, both were 5 stars. The reviews said the sides were as good as their meats, true. If you visit this place with people who don't like 'Q....I know, blasphemy.....they'll have options, Mexican food, Chinese, Mediterranean, Tollhouse cookies and a very nice coffee shop. You can sit at the communal seating and snicker at the people/barbarians not eating 'Q. read more

A bit uninspired and pretty expensive for counter service BBQ in a food court. I went out of my way to try this and left without even finishing everything. The two meat plate was $20 with one side. The pulled pork was way too fatty as was the lean brisket. The brussel side was the highlight of the meal. The $4 upcharge for the cornbread was definitely not worth it. I have had better many places. They did have a nice selection of sauces. Not sure if my visit was an off day or this is the norm, but for a $25 lunch with no sit down service I was hoping for more. read more

Feges BBQ - One plate w/ two side $10 - Barbeque Near Me - Houston, Texas

This is a tentative review. ***Due to the timeframe of acquiring the food options I did NOT get the best of servings.*** First time at Feges. Drove about an hour and half to try it. Sadly it was at 2:30 on a Thursday so not all the options were available hence the notation above... The restaurant was not what I was expecting. Didn't realize it was set in a food court. Anyways ordered the 2 meat plate. Only two small pork ribs were left so the guy tossed in a couple cuts of sausage to go along with my order of brisket. The two sides were the Brussels sprouts and what looked like a loaded mashed potato option. The sides were okay. Obviously the last bit of the day so it is what's to be expected. The meats: Pork ribs were good. Not the best ever but pretty close. Good flavor. Sweet and Smokey. Little over done for my taste ( I prefer there to be a little bite and NOT fall off the bone) Sausage was okay. Really nothing fancy. Good smoke. Nice crack from the casing. All in all. Not bad. But it's not the reason you come here. The brisket. Surprisingly enough brisket was still an option. I did get the last end of the brisket so it is to be expected to be a little dry from being in the warmer all day. Not overly seasoned. Deep smoke ring. And for a piece that was at the end of the day fell apart fairly easily. All in all the star rating is insignificant at this point. I really need to get back at prime hours to give a legitimate review. Does it deserve to be on the Texas Top 50.... probably. In the top 20.... maybe. But as we know the competition for BBQ in TX is palpable. read more

Feges BBQ - Pork rib, brisket, sausage, loaded mashed and Brussel sprouts. - Barbeque Near Me - Houston, Texas

FINALLY Spring Branch is getting the restaurants we deserve. My wife and I absolutely love Feges BBQ and can't recommend it enough. Feges brings you some classic BBQ with a flare. The sides are delicious and changing with the season, and the beverage selections are carefully selected (they really know their stuff when it comes to wine). Our 1-year old son loves going to Feges not only for the food -- they have a wonderful play area for kids. It's so nice to enjoy a great lunch/dinner and watch our kid having the time of his life outside in their gated, turfed play area. I think Feges has done a fantastic job being new on the scene and will be here to stay. It's always great to see a family-run business come in and make their mark. Keep up the great work! read more

Really cool BBQ experience. Easy parking, minimal line wait, great menu choices, prices extremely reasonable (especially based on quality of food), probably the cleanest, most well laid out BBQ joint I've ever been to. Ok, most importantly the deep fried ribs, paprika sausage, and smoked wings with Alabama white sauce were all so so very very very good! We had the potatoes and collared green sides and they were also on-point. Unfortunately the brisket missed the mark for us (lacked smoke, bark, and flavor for us). Everything else was so amazing we weren't even that disappointed! Can't wait for next time to come to more of their menu! read more

Friends who know Wade Elkins must notice that when he's working on food, he's hyper-concentrated, completely in "The Zone". We're so excited that Feges BBQ opens today 03/21/2018, and we're so honored to be the first few who lined up for it. Thanks to Leland's great foresight that he went early, and the line is already snaking in the food court 20 minutes before they open. We got 1/2 lb each of Brisket, Pork Belly, Pork Ribs, Sausage, and Boudin, and sides of Collard Greens, Sweet and Spicy Sprouts, Elote Corn Salad, Sweet Potato + Banana Mashers. Everything is fantastic even though it's the first day! Even though I don't know the owners, Erin who's at the cashier makes me feel very welcomed. I absolutely love this place! The food is great and the staff is friendly. I also love the cool seating options throughout the whole food court area. Today I ordered the three meat plate. I chose brisket, chicken leg quarter and pulled pork. For the sides, I chose the kale salad and the Brussels sprouts. I love that they throw in a bit of burnt ends on the plate too! Great flavor! The brisket was by far my favorite. It is moist, well seasoned and has the unmistakeable smoked flavor characteristic of TEXAS BBQ! The pulled pork was slightly dry for my taste and the chicken was just okay. However, I'd be happy to bring an out of town visitor and be certain that their brisket experience is authentic. The sides are amazing and I chose the two low-carb options that were extremely pleasing. The kale was fresh and the Brussels sprouts,BrusselsKale SaladBrisket Plate charred and seasoned to perfection! A nice bonus was the soda they serve which is tastier than mainstream brands. Lastly, they validate your parking ticket if you use the HUB at Greenway underground garage. That is always nice. I strongly recommend a visit to this place so that you can enjoy a delicious meal in a cool ambiance while supporting local businesses during these difficult times. read more

This was my first time eating at The Hub in the bottom of Greenway Plaza. A nice location with several eateries to choose from. I chose Feges BBQ because they had pulled pork; something you don't find very often in Houston and something I miss so much ( I'm from North Alabama where the pulled pork is the best). My husband and I shared a 2 meat plate with 2 sides. I enjoyed the pulled pork, a little too much cracked pepper, but the smokiness of the meat was nice. The chicken was okay. It could've been a little more done for my liking. But to be fair, I like my chicken dry and well done. My husband liked the juiciness. The mixed veggies were good, but the star of the show were the sweet and spicy Brussels Sprouts. I'd come back here just for these. They have bottles of different sauces to the right of the counter. I tried them all. The Texas Gold and the sweet bbq were nice, but y'all gotta do better with the Alabama White Sauce. So a true Alabama white sauce is white, thin and vinegary. It helps cut the fat of the meats, it balanced it out. It should be almost the consistency of a vinaigrette. This was not any of that. It was thick, tan, peppery, and mayonnaisey. It did not resemble anything like what you get in Alabama. That was a little disappointing for me. I did hope for a good vinegar cole slaw, a staple side dish for bbq where I come from. But, I guess I can't have everything I want. Get the Brussels though, those were amazing. read more

I never knew how big the Greenway Plaza complex was until I actually went there, drove around a tried to park. These guys are located in what looks like a mall food court, but with much better food. Had no idea all this was going on down there. I think the food area is underground, so your phone will likely have no service. I got the two meat plate, brisket and pork belly with carrots and Brussel sprouts and cornbread. Everything was great except the cornbread, it was pretty dry. They open for lunch at 11am and the line starts forming then, but it goes quickly. I put these guys right up there with other high end bbq joints here in Houston. read more

My visit to Feges was about 6 weeks ago for lunch. Before going I watched their very helpful video directions (website) that showed me how to navigate the parking garage and secure free parking. It was my first visit to this food court that is only open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays. There are several eateries located in this large food court including Feges. Anticipating a line, I arrived at about 11:30 a.m. and only had to wait about 5 minutes before ordering. Ordering at the counter, I asked for the two meat plate selecting brisket and chicken along with two sides of potato salad and sweet potatoes. I know that's a lot of potatoes but they don't serve beans (which I think is sacrilege at a bbq restaurant) and the other sides didn't look appealing to me. After being given and paying for the meal, you then proceed to the drink station where they also have separate containers for ice tea. Unfortunately, this process for getting ice tea is poorly thought out due to the location of the containers. You have to put your food tray down, then reach over to fill your cup and it's very easy to spill your drink. The food court is large so finding seating isn't a problem. My half smoked chicken was very good. It was juicy and decent sized. The slice of brisket that they gave me was just ok but I enjoyed the chicken more. The potato salad was a little drier than I like and is of the chunky variety. The sweet potatoes were better and had very good flavor. Their sides are very unique and perhaps I should have tried one. I believe this is a good place to eat (3.5) however the food court location is a negative. As the time of day got closer to noon, it became noisy just like any mall food court does. It also hurts the ambience of eating at what is suppose to be a high end bbq restaurant. Too big of an eating area and too brightly lit. Also, the parking garage would be difficult to navigate and get free parking if you don't watch their website video. For those reasons I will give an overall score of 3. I wish that they will move out to a more accessible location and can you please come up with a bean side? Please? read more

Patrick Fege's new brick & mortar barbecue joint nested inside Greenway Plaza is now open for business! Today was their third official day to be open. We arrived around 10:45 a.m. and were the first in line. Before we knew it, a line of about 40 - 50 people had formed behind us. We ordered a half pound of brisket, pork belly, pork ribs, link of sausage, collard greens, brussels sprouts, kale salad and bread pudding for dessert. To make this short, I expect Feges BBQ to make it on the next issue of Texas Monthly's "Top 50 Barbeque Joints In Texas". It's that good folks. The best thing on our platter...which, by the way, is not served on a tray like in my photo. The food is actually served in white togo containers. But, being the foodporn whores we are, we set up the food onto a tray for your viewing pleasure. You're welcome. Anyhoos, back to the best thing on the platter...had to be the pork belly. "Perfection" would be the word I would use. Nicely seasoned, crispy and just the right amount of fatty goodness. The brisket was good, as well. It was also nicely seasoned and not overpowering in smoke flavor. The sausage had the texture where you knew it was homemade and not store bought. Every side we ordered was also delicious. Heck, even the kale salad was great! And I'm not really a fan of kale. Make sure you save room for some dessert! The rum raisin bread pudding is off the chain. It's great to finally see more bbq joints in Houston that can be considered as good as all the top places in Austin. I'm really looking forward to the day Leonard opens Truth Barbecue in Houston. Barbecue connoisseurs all over the world can finally consider Houston as a barbecue destination city. read more

You get or I got 2 dry skinny pork ribs with the meal option for $15? Ribs NO GO, DRY I was new to the building. Even my colleagues noticed but none of them had the balls to complain about it. I did. The brisket is on point good, but again 2 slices with the meal option for $15? I asked for lean brisket and I got 50% FAT. Really? Second fail and that was the end of it. Never again at this place. For the money I don't feel like I am getting a fair deal. Yeah rent is expensive and all that but for the money I don't feel I am getting my money worth. Similar complaints on other reviews. I provided feedback immediately and they were offended, asking me if I want more ribs. Like I was some fat bastard asking for more :) I didn't want more, I wanted my money worth. I am glad we left the building with this expensively overrated food. I rather do doordash than pay this guys rent. Ain't worth supporting their business, sorry.... Hubs works at Flightaware in Greenway Plaza and he wanted me to come over there and get my car detailed at the hand wash place right next to his building. And while there come have lunch with him. So I immediately selected this place which he didn't even know was there but I have heard is absolutely fabulous. You know what? It was absolutely fabulous. We got a 3 meat plate to share. Ribs, links and brisket. Hubs kept going on and on about the brisket how moist it was. I was like, yeah this is what brisket is supposed to taste like, it's not supposed to be dry and tough. (Hubs is from Australia, I can forgive him his food ignorance). The pork ribs were meaty and fell off the bone. Links fresh made like they're supposed to be. The only thing I was kind of meh about were the sides which was one of the things that the reviews I read dwelled on about how awesome they were. The potato salad was like warm, cheesy mashed potatoes, (oh give me a lovely chilled chunkier mayo potato salad seasoned with vinegar, minced celery, dill pickles & onion & eggs). A cilantro slaw which was not very cilantro-y yet distinctly more coriander-ish. There was a not on the menu side which I would have rather gotten but it was off at the end of the warming table and I didn't see it until after I'd chosen my sides, don't recall what it was tho. Brussels sprouts I think. The condiments - pickles and onions - were housemade and a nice touch. The best part was the guy walking by with his already purchased lunch exclaiming, "There's a BBQ place here?!! Where!??" Like you couldn't tell from the tantalizing aromas wafting down the food court? Yes yes excellent barbeque, excellent service. Try it out if your significant other works in Greenway Plaza and invites you down for lunch. read more

Feges BBQ is a good new addition to the Greenway Plaza offering of restaurants (I'd call it a food court, but it's actually nicer than that). I had the one meat plate, which comes with two sides of your choosing. For the meat, I had the brisket, which I thought was good--maybe not as good as Pinkerton's or Pit Room, but I definitely liked it. The sides were really unique and definitely beyond the usual BBQ side offerings. I tried the cornbread and the Moroccan spiced carrots. Though topped with butter, the cornbread was a little dry, but the Moroccan spiced carrots were excellent--so good! My friend tried the corn elote and the potato/salad and said that the elote was excellent but felt meh about the potatoes. Feges is definitely a good workday lunch spot. read more

Huge disappointment at lunch today. Ordered a single meat brisket plate and was served a disproportionate amount of fat in the serving. I was shocked to see that the person carving the meat trimmed good meat away to get the serving weight right which ultimately left mostly fat. I didn't realize it was my plate until I was pushed further down the line for sides. In fairness, the sides were decent. The cost of the meal with an iced tea was almost $16. Not worth the price. read more
