My recent visits here consisted of a Gyros Plate with rice, Hamburger with uncut tomatoes n pickles & lemon potatoes and Greek Spaghetti Meat Sauce on Sunday Special. All 3 meals were really flavorful, good quality, really well-seasoned, very juicy and so delicious. The gyros and burger are without question imo the best in TX. Ekko's and Nick The Greek are 2nd n 3rd for Greek food for me. I always got the gyros sandwich as opposed to the plate before which is odd bc I always prefer meat plates over sandwich form in other foods like bbq, steak, etc. The meat pieces were all really tasty and had some slight char to them too. The taziki sauce is always cold, creamy in feel and refreshing with a good yogurt aroma to it. It's a great bonus and the gyros didn't even need it tbh. The tomatoes were nicely refreshing and the exotic, cool center dolma is always a little treat with meals here. The rice and chunky lemon potatoes with my meals were always mild but still great in texture and prep. As I said before; from my experiences in every single Greek cafe, if the taziki sauce is good, the gyros will be too. It's a solid symptom and indicator imo. As for the burger, very rarely are burger places only in TX actually any good for the past 15 years. So many are just average or below lacking seasoning or a great overall flavor. Niko Niko's, Goode Company Hamburgers and TX Hamburger Palace are my top 3 in that order for it. Each different too. The brioche buns were just the right thickness and very soft to make the beef patty stick out well. The patty was so nice in charbroiled taste, saltiness, richness, beefiness and tender in every bite. A good burger doesn't need much in toppings, but cool, refreshing, tomatoes are a must for me and pickles add some tangy crunch too. For steak rare, but for a burger medium to medium rare. I had never seen or heard of their Greek Spaghetti n Meat Sauce before. This was like a Greek Bolognese with a lot of love in its flavor. The noodles were drained, very moist and so soft. I don't like too much cheese, so I took some off, but still like some. The meat sauce gravy itself was really flavorful, savory, fatty enough and had that subtle sweet, warm spice aroma you get in the Greek lasagna. I like to get dessert here sometimes when I have extra room, bc they have some great options like their galaktobourreko, chocolate ganache cake, etc. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient on these visits. read more

Niko Niko's is a casual Greek restaurant that gives a family-friendly vibe. Their menu is overwhelming, and they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with their own parking lot. We got the gyro sandwich, gyro plate with fries, and mille feuille dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed my gyro sandwich. The pita was very fragrant, and the meat was good. The fries were fine. They have a lot of desserts on display, and we got the mille feuille, which was a super flaky cake-appearing pastry that gave more baklava vibes once we dug into it. The friendly employee told us that he gained a significant amount of weight from eating it. It was very dry and crusty with cold cream interspersed within the layers. It crumbled all over the table (we cleaned it up). It seemed like a unique dessert that was nice to try, but I don't think either of us liked it that much, and we didn't end up finishing it. I love to eat here every time I come to Houston. My daughter knows this and happily accommodates my love of their Greek food. My daughter is 25% Greek and she also loves the roast potatoes, the pastitsio, the Greek salad. The place is always busy because it is awesome. There is adequate on-site free parking. The ambiance is basic, but everyone is happy because the food is awesome! The counter service is efficient. If it's because of sanitary reasons, I promise a dog sitting at the base of a table OUTSIDE while their owner eats is the least of people's concerns considering they are sitting OUTSIDE where there are plenty of bugs flying around and crawling up tables, not to mention the patio is so close to Montrose that cars kick up dust and all sorts of other things into the air. Niko Niko's on Montrose was the closest restaurant to the bar, where I was at in the Gayborhood. It was a rainy evening and I didn't want to risk of eating at food trucks and get stuck on the way back. This time I was with a friend. We both ordered gyros combo plates. I was surprised the portion size and affordability. I also ordered a Kataifi and he got a key lime gelato. I couldn't eat the dessert because I was already full. I had leftover for next day. I had had catered Niko Niko's before but had never dined in. I am so happy I did! We sat in a booth and ordered. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The interior was well designed, with plenty of seating, if a little clustered. I ordered the burger with fries and the hazelnut chocolate cake. One thing is that my burger did take 40 minutes to come and I did have to go and remind the staff, but it was then served fresh within a couple of minutes. But the quality was out of this world! The meat was succulent and was commented by the melted cheese and mayo. The fries were countless and so tasty. The hazelnut chocolate cake was another just another gift. I got the chicken avgolemono (soup) which is delicious as it ever was, BUT, the "Nico Meze platter" (is Greek hor d'oeuvres--2 each of) yalandji dolmas, spanakopitas, tiropitas, falafel, and a tiny bit of hummus $16.95 The pastries tasted all the same, the stuffed grape leaves were cold, the falafel was dry. I opted to pay cash for the tip but they treated me differently because they didn't see me put the tip in the tip box. I had not been in a while, but TikTok never fails to remind me of all the good spots in the city, so I knew I had to come back. Even though the restaurant is always busy, the service is fast, and the staff are welcoming, helpful, and friendly. On top of that, they often have special deals and discounts. My family and I were lucky enough to visit on a day with half-price appetizers and a few other offers. To start, my family ordered the Calamari, which was very good. One is, they got rid of the root beer. Maybe it wasn't a big seller but I loved it. Time to let now grown and older past Austin Yelp celebrity Rooster onto my Houston favorites. 50th birthday week; Grandma and GF are along for the ride. The Pita and Hummus were delicious. We shared The Hercules plate which had a little bit of everything. We finished off with the gelato from the dessert bar. We were from out of town so we were excited tourists. Some of the locals have not given this place as high of a rating but we thought it was great. The atmosphere is nothing fancy and there is plenty of parking. There is content service but the service was prompt. I love this place! There are so many options, and it's good, solid, Greek food. I usually get the Greek Combo, so, I can taste everything and see what I'm feeling that day. Today it was the spanakopita and the tiropita, closely followed by the dolmas. It's SOOO much food that I can taste a little of everything, choose what hits-eat that, and then have enough leftover for another meal or two! And let's not forget dessert!
