    No dogs allowed OUTSIDE ‍
    Mike K.

Asked if I could sit outside with my dog. They said no. Not sure why? If it's because of sanitary reasons, I promise a dog sitting at the base of a table OUTSIDE while their owner eats is the least of people's concerns considering they are sitting OUTSIDE where there are plenty of bugs flying around and crawling up tables, not to mention the patio is so close to Montrose that cars kick up dust and all sorts of other things into the air. Too bad a Houston institution like Niko Nilko's has such a stupid policy! Glad I found out about Al Quick Stop. Better tasting gyros and A LOT CHEAPER, not overpriced like this place! Do better Niko Niko's. No reason to not let dogs on your outside patio!

I couldn't believe I was here 10 years ago promoting a fundraising event in 2015. This time, I was just here to eat dinner after clubbing. Niko Niko's on Montrose was the closest restaurant to the bar, where I was at in the Gayborhood. It was a rainy evening and I didn't want to risk of eating at food trucks and get stuck on the way back. This time I was with a friend. We both ordered gyros combo plates. I was surprised the portion size and affordability. I also ordered a Kataifi and he got a key lime gelato. I couldn't eat the dessert because I was already full. I had leftover for next day. Food was so delicious. However, the Kataifi tasted staled. I think I'll come back during the weekdays.

A classic. Good solid Greek food with a special treat for rodeo goers. Had to take the nephew to enjoy the atmosphere and a bit of local history and culture.

I had had catered Niko Niko's before but had never dined in. I am so happy I did! We sat in a booth and ordered. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The interior was well designed, with plenty of seating, if a little clustered. I ordered the burger with fries and the hazelnut chocolate cake. One thing is that my burger did take 40 minutes to come and I did have to go and remind the staff, but it was then served fresh within a couple of minutes. But the quality was out of this world! The meat was succulent and was commented by the melted cheese and mayo. The fries were countless and so tasty. The hazelnut chocolate cake was another just another gift. The cake was somehow both light and substantial. The frosting was perfectly flavored and a joy to eat. The pistachio chocolate cake was the same way. A great dining experience!

Visited Niko Niko's while in Houston. The atmosphere was casual with an old-school diner-style feel, and the service was friendly. We tried a few of their dishes -- they were decent but didn't quite hit the mark for me, landing more in the average range. Overall, it felt a bit overrated based on the hype, though it might still be worth a second visit to explore more of the menu. Saluti

Greek food at its absolute finest! My family LOVES this place. Everything is so fresh and delicious. It is counter service, but they are extremely helpful and everything you need to eat is displayed well. The ambiance is very fitting for the occasion and it is bright and cheery! Don't sleep on the desserts! They are a must. The Greek honey balls are amazing! We are repeat customers!

I'm here for the Greek Salad! Decided to try something other than the usual this time around. I was a little disappointed but, the shrimp was seasoned well and the rice tasted better with a squeeze of lemon. No complaints on the salad, great as usual 10/10. The Greek coffee is always a strong and pleasant treat.

June 16, 2025 I lived in Houston from 1986-2013, so i haven't been to Nikos in a long while. I got the chicken avgolemono (soup) which is delicious as it ever was, BUT, the "Nico Meze platter" (is Greek hor d'oeuvres--2 each of) yalandji dolmas, spanakopitas, tiropitas, falafel, and a tiny bit of hummus $16.95 The pastries tasted all the same, the stuffed grape leaves were cold, the falafel was dry. Hummus was ypérochos/ (delicious) NOT worth the price Should have gotten a meat dish I got 2 wedding cookies yum and a rice pudding...FAIL, it was like soup NICO, you let me down today. 3 stars just for the soup **Half off all appetizers on Mondays**

Classic Houston staple. Always consistently good. We tried a variety of things and each dish was delicious. First time trying the cheese sticks and they were perfectly crisp with a soft cheesey pull. Def recommend!

The food here was so tasty. Everything was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The service was great. You can place your order online and pick it up curbside or pick it up inside. Either way. Carryout is A1. I did not sit inside, but they have plenty of area for you to sit and eat. I love that they have the option to get grilled or fried wings. I did not try them. I did have the chicken gyro and a Caesar salad. Tzatziki sauce was fresh. Everything here is homemade. I also have gelato and many Greek desserts. I totally see why this place was featured on diners, drive-ins, and dives.

    GYRO & CHICKEN COMBO
    John B.

Haven't been here in about 10 years, so I thought I would stop in for a bite. Parking was great! Large lot with available spots during a Saturday lunch. Nice clean and not crowded lot. Plenty of room to maneuver in my truck. I ordered the gyro beef and chicken combo plate, with a Greek salad side upgrade. The salad was good. I remember they put a huge piece of feta on top, and that's my favorite. The gyro beef and chicken combo plate was OK. The chicken was the star for sure. Great grilled flavor and still juicy. The beef I didn't really care for. Chicken would defiantly be my choice here going forward. It is a pretty pricey place for lunch! The gyro plate was $17.95. $4.50 upgrade for salad. $3.50 soda. Total with tip was about $32. Kinda steep for lunch. It was a decent size portion, but since the beef kinda lacked flavor, I'm not sure if it was worth it. But their passion iced tea is delicious!!!

Love this place. Have gone there many times in person and always enjoy their Gyro with fries. My wife loves their potatoes. The baklava is also delicious. Somehow - I never yelped them. Maybe bc I just go there and quickly devour the food? On this occasion, yelping after my friends brought us a ton of food on our Meal Train. Food traveled well and it did not disappoint! Check out this spread!!

My partner wanted to grab lunch here so we tried for the first time this place. We got a simple sandwich and elote which the staff said it should take 15-20 mins. We waited and waited it past 40+ mins and I went to ask. - First was that they lost our order number and they couldn't find it. - Second the manager began to say our order was taken by someone else and then that my partner grabbed it. Switching her words back and forth and not believing what we had said. I asked how did we grab our stuff if I still have the device to notify when our food is ready. - Third she completely stopped talking to us and went to go help at other customers. I told her we want our money back and she said, "well I'm not going to refund for the drinks you had". Ma'am, that's not how you run a business. Just admit you messed up and take ownership of your mistakes to help a customer out. - Fourth she mentioned that other tickets have been lost today and other foods have been stolen before. This just shows how disorganized this placed is. We were able to ask for our money back but it was a battle about it. I was disappointed because we wanted to support your business but at this service? Heck no! Do not come here. And from reading other reviews now we did not miss on the food.

The only thing I want to point out is there was a guy working with bell peppers who came to the front line and started handling food for customers. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone.
