How have I not reviewed Bijan?? This is one of our family favorites. In fact, when our daughter applied to college and the prompt was to write about a family tradition, she wrote about Sunday family dinners at Bijan with three generations. Imagine grandparents, parents, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins eating all together every weekend, frequently at Bijan, for the first 18 years of her life. Sharing a meal together. Building memories. So wonderful. A decade later, we are still are having family dinners at Bijan. During the pandemic, this was the last place that we ate before everything closed down and it was one of the first when we decided to eat out again as a family. It was nice to hear a warm hello, welcome back, we missed you. 29B-Grilled Chicken Breast. Lentil soup. Shirazi salad. Bijan special. Hummus. Salmon kabobs. Lamb kabobs. Plates filled with extra radishes, feta cheese and herbs. Extra crispy bread fresh out of the oven for my father-in-law. Pouring hot cardamon tea into dainty glass tea cups while we wait for our food. One cube of sugar that lasts several cups. Maybe a little mint added as well. So good. Love the renovation. Spontaneously went to Bijan Persian grill in Houston for late night dinner. I got the lamb soultani, which comes with lamb and a skewer of beef koobideh. It comes with basmati rice and some grilled veggies. The meat was honestly just ok. They were both on the dry side and had a more heavy char. The rice was amazing mixed with the butter and this red spice thing you can mix in to make it a little more tangy. They give you complimentary pita, feta, mints, and radishes. I also got a kashk-e-bademjan (eggplant dip), it comes with yogurt, garlic, mint, onion, and basil. It was decent but I felt like the dip I had at other Persian restaurants were more dynamic in flavor. The portions were big though and I had plenty of leftovers. Tried this place for the first time tonight. Lina my waiter was truly kind and amazing. The place was also pretty cute. Upon arrival they bring you complementary hot bread, cheese, butter and herbs to try. Then since I wanted to try the specials on the menu I tried the beef chicken kebob combo as well as the ghorme sabzi stew and gheimeh stew combo option which this option of food was pretty unique option on the menu compared to the other Persian restaurants. Their shirazi salad was also pretty great with great flavor and seasoning. Price was also pretty good and affordable for the food options provided. For drinks I got dough which is yogurt drink with mint and then for dessert I got hot tea and bakhlava. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Bijan deserves all their flowers as one of the pillars of Persian cuisine in Houston given how long they've been around and the quality of the food. There are a lot more choices now than there were when they first opened so it had been a while since I had gone there but their koobideh was as good as ever and helped a stressful day get a little better while I was dealing with a windshield situation at their neighboring business (who are also great). The thing that really impressed me however was their iced tea. It's hard to get excited about iced tea but they had persian tea that was iced so it had a very nice smell and taste. I walked in to the restaurant and was welcomed by the friendly staff. It was an afternoon and less busy weekday. The place is clean and well maintained. The naan and a plate with lime, butter and cheese I believe was complimentary. I ordered the Special combo meal. It was beef fillet and juicy chicken fillet, that's marinated and grilled. Additional to that, I ordered tea because who doesn't like tea with their meal. Great combination and I do recommend. I also ordered the Bijan Special in the menu to go as well. My absolute favorite restaurant in Houston. I could write love songs about Bijan. And after recently trying another Persian Houston restaurant with a near identical menu but slightly higher prices that left me with regrets, I figured a Yelp review praising Bijan was long overdue. I've lost track of how many times I've eaten here in the past year. And I will be eternally grateful to my boyfriend for introducing me to this place. The staff is great and starts you with a complimentary plate of freshly made flat bread and mint, butter, feta cheese cubes, and radish. My preference is to melt some butter on the warm bread and sprinkle on a healthy amount of paprika and then wrap it around a cube of feta. In terms of recommendations, you can't go wrong with the warm eggplant dip as an appetizer. This is probably my favorite dish on the menu, and I think it's done better here than other Persian restaurants. The name is Kashk-E-Bademjan and it's a warm eggplant with a drizzle of yogurt topped with roasted garlic, caramelized onions, and a sprig of mint. If the staff hasn't already offered a second flat bread with your eggplant, just ask. The size is big enough to share but I can easily polish off one of these by myself and prefer it that way. For the main course, I strongly suggest the Bijan special. It is a massive plate of chicken and filet mignon beef skewer, saffron rice topped with cherries, cranberries, almonds, and pistachios, and lastly roasted vegetables. Note that some of their dishes do not come with the cranberry/almond topping on the rice. Fortunately the menu includes pictures of pretty much every single dish. If you like some sweetness with your savory food, the rice is much better with the addition. Honestly, nothing compares to a fresh plate of Bijan, and the food is generally very consistent in flavor. There was a singular visit when I thought the Kafta kebob had too much parsley. On my last visit, it was phenomenal. The meat is always tender and juicy. My darling beloved used to bring us all here when he as my parents were here. It is a nice family atmosphere for Eid festivals, or simple change from the rigmarole of everyday routines. My kids used to enjoy their kebabs and back when they had a variety of chicken dishes such as chicken lollipops--their biryanis are sumptuously fit for a king! One of the old school Persian restaurant, it is still good as ever. They don't have a handicap parking right in front of the restaurant but further down there is and you don't need to climb the stairs to the front door. The food is big portion you will get your money worth of food. Service is fast and they answer all of the questions we had about the menu. We later ordered plate #32 and #29B, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The chicken and lamb were juicy and well-marinated, pairing well with the rice and cranberry on top. One of worst food you will ever have. Doesn't match the menu , overpriced, dirty dine in , rude service and manager or owner . They force you to pay tips based on setup machine at minimum 22%. Tips should be optional based on customer satisfaction, but what they do they select the % tip without your authorization, they sign your credit card transaction without your approval. Just horrible service , food and rude owner. I don't recommend this place at all to avoid bad food and stealing your money. read more

I went here awhile back a few times from 2021 to 2023. The ground beef kabobs on these visits don't taste nearly as good as they did before 2020. They used to be noticeable in charbroil taste and nicely juicy without being too greasy. They used to also taste like real beef all the way through without bread crumb fillers some places use to make the meat look bigger. The ground beef kabobs had no charbroil taste, contained a weird iron metal or gas taste instead, not beefy enough in taste and sometimes too greasy in these recent years. I used to have this place up there with Darband at a time, but not on these last several meals. Cafe Caspian on Westheimer also completely changed their ground beef kabobs for the much worse after 2011 too. If something is great, keep it that way. read more

We've eating both dine-in and take-out at Bijan Persian grill restaurant for over 10 years and found the food superior in taste and quality, In fact, we've eaten there or done takeout at least once or twice a month, but recently, I must report the quality of their grilled ground beef (i.e., the koubideh) has been almost inedible. What has caused such a downfall in the degree of taste, texture and cooking? While in the past we ate juicy, perfectly cooked koubideh, lately (the last three times) the meat was gritty , overcooked, very dry, burnt in spots, and just not up to the quality we've become accustomed. What could account for this drastic change in ?Have they changed meat suppliers? Because the meat tasted gritty as if there were solid chucks of bone or cartilage in it, perhaps pre-ground good meat with inferior meat to "stretch out a profit? anyway, we're rather disappointed with this recent downturn of quality, and will be looking for another Persian grilll in the vast restaurant metropolis that is Houston. I hope they rectify the situation because the staff was always friendly and excellent. It's a little bit unfortunate in terms of them being my #1 (it's not my #1) that they are literally a quarter of a mile from Darband, which is my number one Persian food, especially for Koobideh kabob, in the country. Well Bijan might well be my number two, as it's delicious, plentiful, succulent, and perfectly made - and it's definitely in the top five Persian places in the country (and I've had a lot). It has wonderful table service, but it's still somewhat casual. It's beautiful and lavish but very cheap. It's large and packed full of overdressed and often cute Persians. You'll have a great time here and you'll have a wonderful meal. Everything we ordered was excellent and even though Darband is superior, Bijan is still better than almost every other restaurant in Houston of any foodgenre, so if you like prison food - I mean Persian food but that too - you simply have to come and give it a try. You will love it, and we certainly did. And if you come on February 1st, then before your meal, say farewell to January... "Bye Jan!" With so many Persian food options in Houston, what's the deal with Bijan? It's been around for a long time so obviously it has decent food. Here are my thoughts: 1) Bijan's ambiance is nice. Spacious seating inside with nice decor, and love that they have a large patio as well. Something most other Persian restaurants don't have. 2) The food is pretty good. They koobideh (ground beef skewers) are a staple, the joojeh kabob (chicken) is moist, the khoreshts (stews) are good, the rice is good. The star of the show is the kashkeh-bademjan (fried eggplant appetizer) as well as the on-the-house, freshly baked bread. 3) the service is decent. Could be better and more attentive but it's fine. 4) I pay attention to all details, and the reason why im deducting a star is bc they need to deep clean/redo the bathroom. The toilet does not look clean and has rusty bolts that are the first thing you see, the soap in the dispenser looks clumpy, etc. Unfortunately having the restaurant experience is a total package and that's one of the things that stuck out. read more

The wife and I stopped in after shopping in the Harwin wholesale district and let me tell you... it was a great stop. The food is excellent! Customer service is excellent! Establishment is lovely. I had the the lamb and my wife had the house chicken. My lamb was seasoned to perfection, tender and grilled nice.(could have had a little more char). My wife's chicken was delicious. Tender, juicy and seasoned well. The basmati rice is perfect. The fresh naan is freshly backed and served warm. The fresh feta,onions, mint and radish is a nice start.
