    Beef Kafta Plate
    Ambreen K.

Chicken shawarma arabi - 9/10 - One of the most flavorful and sauciest shawarmas ive tried. Also crispy, which i loved. Chicken tawooq wrap - 9/10 - So crispy and flavorful. It was a bit greasy tho. Beef kafta plate - 8/10 - Tasty and the beef was juicy but a bit bland. Fries - 9/10 - Seasoned and crispy, loved these with the garlic sauce. Hummus and pita - 7/10 - Pita wasnt fresh and soft as i was expecting. Hummus was good but not very smooth.

I was craving a shawarma for lunch and was hopeful to find a place close to the office. What I didn't realize is that this place would be one that is now my go to when I'm on this side of town! They had all five stars on here so I knew I'd be in for a treat, and I was right! Came in and the place was super clean and had vibrant colors and paintings on the wall. Wasnt sure what i wanted, I always say ill try something new but in this case, i saw the huge chicken and beef spinning on the fire and just knew i had to go with the chicken shawarma! I asked if they could cut mine in half vs how it shows it comes bc I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it and wanted to wrap up the rest for later! As the meal arrived, I could smell just how good it was going to be. My co worker who joined me but wasn't hungry for lunch was contemplating if she should in fact order food for later!! This was one of the best shawarmas I've ever had. It was flavored deliciously and so fresh, and the bread so warm, and every bite had that amazing garlic sauce that drizzled down my hand as I ate more and more! I was in heaven!! The fries have potential, they were seasoned nicely, but I needed them cooked for just about 60-90 seconds for the perfect crunch to have some texture. The meal came with a side of the garlic sauce also, which I drizzled more and more on throughout my meal! Good thing I didn't have any more meetings that day! Anywho, as suspected, I took the other half home so I could have it for later, and I just thought about all these delicious flavors for the rest of the day! I ate the other half the next morning and it was even better bc all the seasonings just marinated even more in the meat. I will be back, bc, I'm in love!

Chicken Shawarma Arabi and lamb shawarma Arabi

The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, the staff was super friendly and attentive, and the food was spectacular -- 100/10. Even the fries were amazing. I would definitely come back, next time with my whole family to try the family tray. Thank you!

The best shawarma in town! It tastes exactly like how they make it back home, and the workers are some of the nicest people you'll meet. I highly recommend everyone give it a try. It's affordable, the place is very clean, and definitely worth the 40-minute drive.

One day I had the Tawooq and a couple of days later I came for the Sujuk. Both great sandwiches and get some of their Spicy Garlic Sauce for their fries. Awesome sauce baby!!!

    Lamb Shawarma Wrap with fries.

The lamb shawarma is delicious! Definitely coming back . The place is very clean and well kept up either way.

I enjoyed a delicious chicken wrap wrapped in soft saj bread, served with crispy seasoned fries, a side of fresh carrots, and tangy pickles. The wrap itself was incredibly flavorful, with a unique blend of spices that awakened my taste buds--truly an amazing experience. The fries were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside yet tender inside, and complemented by a side of creamy coleslaw and savory garlic cream sauce. This meal was absolutely satisfying, and I plan to come back with friends soon. The staff was very attentive, ensuring prompt service. The food was fresh and prepared quickly, arriving at my table within just 10 minutes. I'm glad I stopped by and tried something new; the place has a nice, chill atmosphere with inviting decor and comfortable seating that made the overall experience even better.

    New place..

Very cordial owner. Clean and new spot for a Shawarma. There is limited menu, obviously the name indicates that. The Shawarma is not a typical Shawarma, sort of Lavish bread. The Toum Sauce is not garlic tasting enough and though they had picked turnips, the green pickles were in the shawarma. For $14.99 is expensive with a Zero Sugar Coke to me.

All dinners come with a Greek garlic bread starter. I love their iced tea- fresh brewed and always good! The wine is Greek and seems a small bit pricey, but for the extra dollar or two it's worth it- Very delicious. Anything you get at Athena's is amazing so feel free to branch out on your choice. And the desserts are large and homemade! It's hard to save room though. You'll love the fish, steaks, and kebabs. They do a nice lunch sandwich- and still comes with the bread and a Greek salad. If you come on a weekend evening, you may run into the owner having the time of her life! And they take pride in serving the most sweet and ripe slice of melon with every dish. Started to enjoy this first each time I come. It is that delicious, but why can't I find fruit like that anywhere at a grocery store? Give this place a try. Yummy. Officially the authentic Greek restaurant without going overboard. Wait- the homemade 3 layer chocolate cake and the lemon cake! Actually bought a whole one for a large birthday party and everyone wanted to know the bakery name- just Athena's homemade cake! Remember, Greek food is fresh with best ingredients. Service is above that notch and family atmosphere with Greek music- always. But I do find I'm stopping in there solo all the time; others too! Will definitely be back regularly, and will also plan on getting to go order. My husband got a pound of Gyro meat to go, and it came with pita bread and Taziki sauce.

Established back in 1977, this Greek café has grown from a humble walk‑up window into a full‑fledged neighborhood institution, beloved for its hearty Mediterranean comfort food and lively, come‑as‑you‑are atmosphere. The Montrose location stays bustling from lunch through late night, drawing in everyone from families to night‑owls to longtime regulars who've been coming here for decades. What keeps people returning is simple: the food hits. Diners consistently praise the authentic Greek flavors, especially the gyro plates -- a blend of beef and lamb shaved from the spit, tucked into warm, fresh pita, and finished with cool, garlicky tzatziki. Portions are generous without being sloppy, and the pricing stays reasonable, making it one of the best value spots in the neighborhood. Your gyro arrives stacked, your fries come hot, and your plate feels like it was built by someone who actually wants you to leave full. The menu is huge, but the classics shine brightest. The Greek salad is crisp and refreshing, loaded with feta, olives, tomatoes, and their famous dressing. Service here is fast, friendly, and efficient -- the kind of counter‑style operation where the staff keeps things moving without losing the warmth that makes the place feel welcoming. Guests frequently mention how upbeat and helpful the team is, even during rush hours. The vibe is lively but never chaotic: families grabbing dinner, couples sharing mezze plates, and regulars chatting with staff like old friends. It's casual, energetic, and unmistakably Montrose. One thing that sets Niko Niko's apart is its deep Houston history. The Fetokakis family has run the restaurant for nearly half a century, maintaining a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality that helped the café earn multiple Houston Press awards over the years -- from Best Pork Chops to Best Family‑Owned Restaurant. Even as the city has changed around it, Niko Niko's has stayed true to its roots: hearty food, Greek hospitality, and a community‑driven spirit. Whether you're grabbing a quick gyro, sitting down for a full spread, or stopping by for dessert after a night out, Niko Niko's delivers exactly what a neighborhood staple should: great food, great value, and a welcoming atmosphere. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and the experience feels like Houston -- diverse, warm, and full of character. If you're in Montrose and craving Greek comfort done right, this spot remains one of the city's most reliable pleasures.
