Have you tried Afghanistan cuisine before? Whether you're a newbie (like me) or a regular, Chopan Kabob House has the best menu! I had the please of trying their Chicken Curry and Teka Beef Kabob. Both dishes were packed with great flavors and tender meats. While dining, the waitress brought a green sauce made with jalapeños, garlic, cilantro and more. It was honestly the best sauce I have ever had. Check out their page and give them a visit soon! You won't regret it! read more

This place reminds me of the best Afghani friends I used to know in my first college: kindly and ruminating like Rumi. They take joy in being sincere and singular about their natural affinity with people, and natural affinity for genuine hospitality with a flair. My cousin and my beloved used to come here as we would have their aloo roti Afghan style, with delicious yogurts, sauces, chutneys, and kebabs. They take joy bread is thinner than most places, and oval shaped --so, you'll be craving another round (pun intended) before the meal is done. The yellow, saffron rice is my preferred dish with kebabs --made succulent, spicy, and tender. The music is lively, but not loud. The lighting could be dimmed a bit --candlelight might be better. Nice place. Most take good to go these days as most people seem to be in a rush for their lives. read more

We ordered the Chapli Kabob at Chopan Kabob House and it was absolutely amazing--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Definitely a must-try!

The food here is delicious! The service is a touch slow but friendly. The eggplant appetizer, spinach, grilled fish, tandoori chicken, chapli, shrimp curry, and desserts were good. The teka beef was a good but a bit tough. read more

Chopan Kabob House made for a wonderful meal and experience all around! They have a very spacious dining area and most importantly, delicious and authentic Afghan food and kabobs! I started my meal off with Bolani (a flatbread stuffed with potatoes and leeks served with a fresh yogurt dipping sauce). For entrees, I enjoyed the Chopan kabob plate with rice and the combination kabob plate of Chapli kabob and Teka beef kabob served with a fresh, warm naan. My favorite were the Chapli and the Teka - super tasty and juicy! All the food is prepared 100% halal as well. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with lots of authentic Afghan artifacts and a beautiful display of Afghan rugs. Chopan Kabob House also has a beautiful and big private event space that can hold 60 people - perfect for your next private event! read more

Courteous and quick service. Meat selections were tasty and well seasoned, other things, such as sauces etc. were just average. It's a fun experience for the kiddos to sit on the floor while eating, but not a thrill for me. Lol! read more

some of the best afghan food I have ever had!! I always order the mantoo dumplings for apps and the challow kabob or teka beef kabob over rice for my main. The meat is very well seasoned, tender, and juicy. The rice are always nicely done, never raw, and the vinegar-y chutney they offer is fantastic to drizzle over the top. The portion sizes are big too, so I often eat this for dinner and lunch the next day. I also love ordering the bolani as takeaway to have with tea at home. read more

Saw this place on instagram and decided to try it out a few days ago. I ordered a bunch of items to try with a friend. We started with their naan, Bolani, and mantoo. The naan was like a slightly crispier version of indian Naan and went pretty will with the yogurt sauce that came with it. The bolani was a flatbread with potatos and leeks in it. It reminded me of chinese stuffed meat pancakes in terms of the texture, and it was probably my favorite appetizer. The mantoo are dumplings with ground beef and onions, and there's a sauce on top that kind of reminded me of Italian Bolognese sauce (ground meat and tomato sauce). Overall it was pretty good but I would stick with the bolani. For our main entree we split quabili pallow (lamb shank under rice) and chopan kabobs (lamb chops with rice). The lamb chops were smoky and flavorful and were pretty delicious with the rice. The lamb shank was tender but wasn't much different from lamb shank you would get at any other mediterranean restaurant. It did not stand out too much for me. Overall it was a decent meal, but at 26 dollars per person I felt there were better places in Houston that could give you the same kind of flavor. read more

Oh my word.....To say this was delicious is an understatement! My fiancee and I came here at about 5pm last Saturday evening while we were in the area. There was literally only one other couple in the restaurant. I ordered the Teka Beef Kabob and he ordered the Chicken Kabob. Both were served with a very generous portion of rice and some grilled veggies. My steak was seasoned to absolute perfection, and his chicken was seasoned beautifully and was juicy, too. The rice was amazing, as well. We've already planned to come back next weekend with friends we know will appreciate how good this place really is! read more

Honestly, one would not expect much from the exterior. Located in the same strip center as the dollar theater, this interesting Afghan restaurant is definitely worth a visit. This establishment hasn't been here very long. It's always dead in here for dine in, and it's not hard to see why. Noise bounces around the dining room like crazy, and the ambiance is lacking. I think it use to be a karaoke place. However, this place churns out some pretty freaking amazing Afghani dishes, and it has definitely left me wanting more! The kabobs are always amazing. Get the lamb. It's cooked to a nice rosey medium, probably my favorite item on the menu, though it is all delish!. Chapli kabob is also delicious and full of flavor. It's a seasoned meat patty with an almost sausage like flavor. Yum! Rice is also nicely cooked. The mantoo dumplings were tasty too! The service leaves a bit to be desired, but the food is amazing! We usually end up getting take-out from them these days. read more

Delicious food, amazing customer service, place was very clean, loved the music, I highly recommend coming here again!

I love their food I just wish their portions were little bit more. A meal is around $17 but not enough to fill me up.

Pretty delicious food! My husband and I were in the area, and they had a good deal on Allset so we decided to try their food. We were surprised at how big this place was! It was quite nice inside, and very clean. We came at an odd time (around 5:30 which we call "Linner"...lunch/dinner lol) so there wasn't anyone else there. We got our food at a decent time and it was all hot, and delicious! What we got: Appetizer size "Mantu"- 5/5 I love love love Mantu and would definitely eat their entree size next time because this was delicious! So meaty, and comforting. Appetizer size "Bolani"- 4/5 We were shocked at the generous portion. There were quite a lot of pieces on there which we loved haha. The only thing I think could've been improved was the taste of the stuffing. Needed more flavor! Entree size Chalow kabob- 5/5 We got this with the "brown rice" which isn't actual brown rice, it's just buttery rice that was soo sooo goood haha. The kabob was juicy and flavorful! I have to say that their water tasted pretty good. I'm always hesitant getting water at restaurants but theirs was good! Our server was really nice and didn't bother us every 5 minutes which we liked. The hubby and I will definitely be back! read more

Tried this place over the weekend, and I was surprised, overall the ambiance was great, and there was plenty of parking. Also the food was very good. We ordered the Chapli Kabob, Challow Kabob, Chicken Kabob, and Teka Beef Kabob, all items come with an option of rice or tandoori naan. The food was fresh, the meat was tender. Favorite item were the chapli kabobs. Chopan Kabob continues to be a hidden gem in SW Houston. My favorite entree is the chopan kabob, which features lusciously grilled lamb chops served with rice (or naan) and a side salad. Also ordered the black tea with cardamon. Total including tax and 20% tip came out to under $20. I can't find a better deal, nor a better-tasting lamb chop anywhere. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so be sure to check out what I had for lunch today. :-) read more

Food: Ordered the Qualibi Pallow and appetizer portion of the Mantoo. The Pallow is lamb shank with rice - the meat was falling off the bone, but my rice needed more sauce and raisins. Mantoo are beef dumplings and are a must try! They are very hearty and would recommend an appetizer portion. Service left some to be desired: I ordered online at 11:30 am and they could not find my order at 12:10 pm. The wait, however, was only about 5-7 mins long, but the receptionist was not very friendly. The total cost was about $21 which was for a large portion. Would recommend coming back! read more

The ambient was great and there is plenty of parking spaces. The place was clean and the service was not bad. In order to solve the sharing is caring habit of my other half. I decided to go to all you can eat buffet. There problem solved. The buffet selection was kind of limited when we went. Of course it was half hour before they shut down for their lunch break. The food was your typical Indian cousin. The setting was great and relaxing, but I think we wen at the wrong time, some of the food was dry, and some of the employees were grabbing food fro the buffet line. It kind make me feel I work in the restaurant, of course we had to paid for our meal. The service was decent, but they were getting ready for lunch for were lacking at the same time. I don't suggest you guys to stop by after 2:00pm for their buffet. Otherwise the food and service will be lacking. read more

I found here on American Airlines Dining.I wanted to earn miles in order to go to Japan.Anyway, it was far from my home near The Galleria Shopping Mall. But I love Kabab.I decided to try it.I visited here around 11am.It seems that the servers were not ready to take my order.I ordered chicken kabab. The guy(mananager??) looked like "being still sleeping".He needed to make sure of my order twice.I didn't check the kitchen,I guessed that the chef was not ready.I received my food around 11:25am. It took 25 minutes. It was a to-go order.I brought it to my home.I ate it.I loved it.The kabab was delicious. I have suggestions for improvements. - The location is good on Westheimer &Eldridge. However, The shopping center is dead. There were many empty stores. The restaurant may move to more popular area. - This was kind slow service. When you say" Open 11am".You must be ready at 11am sharp. It seems that the restaurant is available on both Doordush and Uber Eats.Speed is crucial in food delivery industry. Anyway, the food was good. Your food lived up to my expectations.Thanks. read more

Good taste of food. However portions have decreased in size. The bread is very small which needs improvement. Also needs to be able to serve tap water with ice in glasses rather than only serving bottled water like in gas stations.
