We came here on a whim because we were here for food trucks in the lot outside saw the nihari restaurant which shares a name with a famous spot in Pakistan and decided to try it. It was mostly empty inside, It's not a huge restaurant for dine-in but they seemed to have more togo traffic. The gentleman at the counter was very nice. We got our nihari to go and enjoyed it a day later. Good lord it was good. I was left licking my fingers by the end of the meal. Also props to how well and securely they packaged it for us. First of all, Bilal (our server) was so nice! The restaurant and the bathroom was clean and well kept, but keep in mind if it gets really busy, seating may be difficult. I had a great experience at Javed Nihari! If you are a fan of spicy this is the place for you! I am still a little new to Pakistani cuisine. However, I thought the food was great. I got the Beef Nihari which was VERY spicy! It was really good, but it took me by surprise how spicy it was. The Nihari came very oily and I'm not sure if that is how it is traditionally served or not. I also got the chicken biryani which was delicious and had less spice to it. It was a good balance to the very spicy Nihari. The restaurant was very nice and clean. The staff was so helpful and friendly. This new local business opened during the the COVID pandemic. As someone who doesn't want to risk catching the virus I appreciate how fast, seamless, and contact less their pick up was. Now let's get started on the food, Houston is a melting pot for many different cultures and one of the most prominent ones is Indo-Pak. There are plenty of places with great Nihari in Houston but man this one by far takes the cake the Nihari is flavorful, spicy, comes with good portions of meat and honestly is the best one overall because it's so dang affordable. Most places charge a ridiculous price for subpar Nihari but not Javed Nihari. I was very questionable going in because traditionally Nihari isn't that good to go but you don't have to worry about that in this place. Definitely give this local place a try. read more

Nihari flavor is very good no doubt But it was not the taste of Javaid Nehari from Karachi Pakistan. But if I'm paying $16 for a plate I do not expect any gristle or fat in my meat. The main issue here is that the Nihari is absolutely tasteless and so viscous. Nothing Nihari like about this Nihari. Doesn't smell like it, taste like it, or anything. Now this place hit the spot like no other. They have a limited menu right now with a selection of NALI Nihari to BRAIN Nihari. Excellent wait time and kind company to keep us entertained while we waited for our straight off the thava naan with their special BEEF Javed Nihari. Nihari is brewed for 8 hours so the flavors are popping and so hot even after our 20 minute ride home. The naan was exceptionally soft and crunchy in all the right places. The nihari slurped so well with the naan into my waiting eager mouth, and oh my, oh my, what a wonderful taste to be reckoned with. Haha also the toppings were a bit skimmed out on(light) and the flavor of the nihari base was not the most preferable ratio of spice to flavor(the spice was perfect, needs a bit more flavor). Like a typical hole in the wall, this place doesn't look much from the outside but the food is absolutely amazing. We stopped by at this place randomly but were amazed by the taste and flavor. Everything was perfect - the nihari we tried (Nali and Beef) weren't too heavy on the stomach but in fact perfectly balanced and made me reminisce of Pakistan. I am very disappointed with their customer service. While the are extremely friendly when you are paying but when they have to refund due to their fault then it's totally different, like Dr. Jackal and Mr. Hide. Dr. Jackal is the refund part. They won't even return your calls or inquiry. Be aware, you will be on your own.
