I had such a great experience at Javed Nihari! The food was absolutely delicious -- full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and so satisfying. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, making sure everything was just right and checking in with a smile. It's rare to find a place with both amazing food and such warm service. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family!

First of all, Bilal (our server) was so nice! The restaurant and the bathroom was clean and well kept, but keep in mind if it gets really busy, seating may be difficult. As far as the food goes, everything was really good! The nihari was one of the best we've had in TX between different spots in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin. The biryani was soft and very flavorful and the daal was great as well. Overall, DEFINITELY worth the visit.

The food was just as I needed it to be. Exact same taste as back home! Service was quick and the manager on the front was so cordial and friendly. Ambiance was good and cleanliness was 10/10 which is my first thing to get attracted to a restaurant

Decided to branch out and try a different nihari place. Bad idea. The food was extremely spicy and the amount of oil used was insane. Felt like I was eating a box of masala. Their naan was a good size for a great prize.

I had a great experience at Javed Nihari! If you are a fan of spicy this is the place for you! I am still a little new to Pakistani cuisine. However, I thought the food was great. I got the Beef Nihari which was VERY spicy! It was really good, but it took me by surprise how spicy it was. The Nihari came very oily and I'm not sure if that is how it is traditionally served or not. I also got the chicken biryani which was delicious and had less spice to it. It was a good balance to the very spicy Nihari. The restaurant was very nice and clean. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I have only had Pakistani cruise a handful of times and the man working the counter really took the time to ask me what meats I like and recommend dishes they have.

Beef Nihari ($10) this was amazing. So much flavor and they definitely don't skimp on portions.

This new local business opened during the the COVID pandemic. As someone who doesn't want to risk catching the virus I appreciate how fast, seamless, and contact less their pick up was. Now let's get started on the food, Houston is a melting pot for many different cultures and one of the most prominent ones is Indo-Pak. There are plenty of places with great Nihari in Houston but man this one by far takes the cake the Nihari is flavorful, spicy, comes with good portions of meat and honestly is the best one overall because it's so dang affordable. Most places charge a ridiculous price for subpar Nihari but not Javed Nihari. I was very questionable going in because traditionally Nihari isn't that good to go but you don't have to worry about that in this place. Definitely give this local place a try.

I love the taste , totally recommended , very fresh naaan , also not too expensive , if you havent tried it yet you are seriously missing out

    Garlic Naan and Beef Nihari

The regular beef nihari, garlic naan, and chicken biryani were 10/10 amazing. The gravy for the nihari was equally flavorful and with perfect spice, the meat was tender. The chicken biryani was spicy, full of masala, with the chicken falling off the bone. The service was amazing. Javed at the front was very hospitable and provided excellent service. The restaurant itself was very clean. I highly recommend this spot for authentic and tasty nihari/pakistani food.

The crowd kept coming, and by the time we were done, the line appears to have grown to 1+ hour. Tip: Come early, especially on weekends! There was a sign saying that dining time is limited to 1 hour - completely understandable. Most of the clientele are South Asian - a good sign. The interior is clean and pleasant. The weekend buffet doesn't come cheap. We paid around $27 per person before tax or tips. But you get what you pay for - probably around 40 items, more than any other Indian buffet we have been to. This includes vegetarian items, meat dishes (chicken/lamb/fish), dessert, and drinks - including chai tea and rose milk. The quality is very good. We left absolutely stuffed.

The spread includes a good variety of South Indian dishes, mainly Tamil and Telugu cuisine, with plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries, rice, dosas, and other traditional favorites. The food was definitely on the spicier side. While there was a decent selection, I found the overall taste to be fairly average. Nothing was particularly memorable, and I didn't feel it justified the price. The restaurant itself was clean, the ambience was pleasant, and the staff was courteous. The biggest downside for me was being handed the bill while we were still eating. At an unlimited buffet where you're paying a fixed price, it made the experience feel rushed and took away from the relaxed dining atmosphere. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're specifically looking for an unlimited South Indian buffet, but for $25 per person, I expected a more memorable meal and a better dining experience.

Granted a group of 12 people showed up unannounced right around opening time, the service was still a bit on the slower side. We waited about 30-35 minutes to receive our samosas and another 15 minutes to receive our Thali plates. All twelve of us ordered the same thing--the Regular Thali. The Thali is a platter that comes with 3 different curries or stews, 3 types of breads, rice, dessert, and a samosa. While I am not very knowledgeable about Indian cuisine and have no basis of comparison, the three curries and breads were delicious. Of the three curries, the paneer masala was my favorite and I enjoyed all three breads. The vegetable curry and lentil stew were both equally delicious and offered a change of pace from the paneer masala. The samosa was a bit of a miss for me due to the shell being a bit on the thick side, but the spices and tamarind chutney were good, but not outstanding. The benefit of ordering the Thali is that it is an affordable way to sample a very good variety of foods with the option or order more of whatever included curry, bread, samosa, rice, dessert completely free as a part of the Thali set. Would I go back? Yes, I would go back to have the Thali again but I'm unsure if I would be adventurous enough to order a full portion of a single curry or dish simply out of unfamiliarity with Indian cuisine. However, I would avoid Gayatri Bhavan if my boss isn't taking an extended lunch break with us.
