Overall liked this place. Their Maash daal was my favorite. Their garlic naan was delicious too. Their also samosa had great flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of their beef one, but it wasn't bad. Both were pretty small. Their chicken tikka masala was creamy and sweeter than I am used to, but decent flavor. I did not like their beef nihari, but not necessarily because i thought it tasted bad. I could tell the beef was tender. I just personally didn't like whatever minty herb was in the gravy. I think this place was a great option for the lunch. Our server Romaisa was helpful and responsive whenever we needed anything.

Ashar's Kitchen is a major disappointment. I ordered 1 Chicken Biryani, 1 Beef Nihari, and 2 Garlic Naan and it was ridiculously expensive. Anywhere else it would have been significantly cheaper. The $17 Biryani only had two pieces of chicken, mostly bones. Make matters worse, the $19 Nihari only had one mid-sized piece of beef in the tray - that feeds one person! You can go anywhere else; heck go spend $19 at a Pakistani Buffet down the street and get as much meat as you want. Will never be coming back.

I visited Ashar's on Hwy 6, Sugar Land around 12:15 AM and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered Biryani and Grilled Chicken. When the biryani arrived, there was an immediate unpleasant smell that clearly indicated the meat was not fresh. This was concerning and unacceptable. We then waited almost 25 minutes for the "Grilled Chicken." What we received was not grilled at all--it was deep-fried chicken. We asked for it to be packed to go, but when we opened it at home, the strong oil smell was overwhelming. Overall, the food quality was extremely poor, the order was incorrect, and the experience was thoroughly disappointing. This is not what one expects from a restaurant, especially at these prices. I will not be returning and would advise others to be cautious.

Had to upgrade the rating, as I went with my family this year and was actually seated with a Group of people that I've known for 45 years Unlike what happened in my previous visit. Please read the earlier review for more Deets. We actually arrived around six-ish and Were seated right away and off we went to the Buffet. The nihari AYCE with 7 different flavors and unlimited naans and garnish available at your disposal. It was a feast. The Nali Nihari is far the best and that's the one I go for seconds. The food was delicious, fresh and kept getting Replenished as folks were finishing them at a rapid pace. The AYCE feature is available on Wednesday nights and has been hit with inflation just like any other place. It used to be 8.99 but now I believe it 11.99. Still a damn good deal!

Ashars kitchen was a excellent place for a SOLID pakistani meal. If you love Karachi's food you will not be disappointed. the dhaga kebab was fresh, moist, and fell apart just like back home. Flavors were on par as well! Now for the main course, the Beef Nihari was so nostalgic! The flavors were warm and bold, the texture was amazing, and the butter naan complimented it beautifully. The standard luazmat (toppings) were provided as well. 4/5 because the interior wasn't all that. Definitely more of a fast casual vibe.

I say "main server" because there is a roving band of servers to make sure they don't miss anything! All the dishes were wonderful, however everything had some "spice", so be careful if you "can't take the heat". The menu is huge, so I believe there has to be something for everyone. The ambience is minimalist, clean bright, "food hall", but in a good way. Not a dark cozy date night place, but more bright, family restaurant decor. Because there are so many choices, I will be back, and could probably eat here all week long and not repeat a meal. Full disclosure however, we were there on a Tuesday, so everything was very chill. I hear this place is CRAZY crowded on weekends, so plan accordingly.

The menu is pretty extensive. While waiting for our food we were given cucumbers and carrots with a dill yogurt type sauce. If I knew how spicy the food was going to be, I wouldn't have enjoyed them before my entree. I specifically asked what the mild dishes were but my food was still inedible. Unfortunately I cannot tolerate anything spicy. And apparently they do not accommodate heat levels so you get what you get. Literally everything we were served except the naan was way too spicy for me. Even my son who enjoys spicy food found the "medium" was very spicy. Food aside, the service was not very hospitable. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The service is fast but don't expect any niceties. When we were asked how we liked the food, my son mentioned the heat level and was basically reprimanded on how "next time he should listen to the server". With it being one of the top restaurants, this experience has left me scratching my head. Overall, I'm glad I was able to finally give this place a shot but for me, it doesn't live up to the hype.

Next time I'm definitely going to try the mango habanero. I gave them 9 out 10. Then I ordered the s h i k a n j a b e e n. It's a classic lime mint leaf crushed eyes and soda drink that is absolutely delicious. It's actually one of my favorite drinks at Pakistani restaurants. So... An obvious 10 out of 10. I ordered TWO. Now, I initially ordered the ribeye which is a 12 oz but they said that they ran out. Or they don't have it, rather. I came at 1:00 p.m. so I'm not quite sure why they were out but regardless, my next order was the beef short ribs. They were bigger than I thought and so completely marinated and Rich herbs and spices I was floored. A very easy 10 out of 10. The steamed veggies that came with it which were steamed carrots and cauliflower were so incredibly delicious. 10 out of 10. The mashed potatoes it came with were decent. Not bad, not great. I would say 7 out of 10. I also ordered the garlic naan. Absolutely delicious. They give you huge pieces and I was so thankful. Parts were crispy and parts were soft so it was like perfection. The garlic naan was a nine out of 10 for later. I wish there was a little bit more salt but it was perfect for dipping into my my wings and the sauce it came with. Overall. I am absolutely coming back again. I've actually been trying to go for a long time. The inside is really beautiful and stunningly clean. The wait staff is super hospitable and kind. Grateful that I did and I will certainly be coming back again.

We had the family garlic naan I forgot which karahi but the chicken breast with a cream based sauce, mango lassi, chole (chickpeas), lahori fish. It took me this long to go because I kept looking at their prices and couldn't justify, but don't be like me and let it scare you away. The portions are definitely more than enough for 2. They are not stingy with their portion size. Looks like their weekday lunch prices are pretty decent so I'm going to have to go back for that for sure. Pretty much everything we had was great. I will say next time I want to try a more traditional tomato based Karahi. Family size Naan was $10 it's probably like 3 regular naan super fluffy not dense so it's easy to eat. Chole was perfect great flavor all around chickpeas were soft. Mango lassi was good but I think it was too heavy for me so I may pass on it next time and leave more room for food. Not sure what kind of fish they use for the lahori fish but the flavors were great, I feel like it should come with fries and I wish it was another type of fish but otherwise on point. The Karahi was chicken breast, really good flavor if you are introducing someone to Pakistani food,it's cream based so it's milder but still has great flavor. My bill was around $87 and I definitely had leftovers. I suggest not going alone if you are getting off the regular menu and not weekday lunch.

The goat chops were extremely tough and difficult to eat, lacking the tenderness that should be expected from this dish. The beef seekh kabab was equally disappointing--very dry, bland, and lacking the seasoning and flavor that typically make seekh kababs enjoyable. Both items appeared overcooked and did not reflect the quality standards I was expecting. I'm providing this feedback not to criticize, but to encourage management to review kitchen quality control, food preparation, and consistency. These are signature menu items, and they should be prepared with much greater attention to texture, moisture, and flavor. I would appreciate a response from management regarding whether this was an isolated issue. Based on this experience alone, I would be hesitant to order either dish again.
