I'll be honest, I didn't think much of this place when I passed by... it seemed way too trendy, hip, and well put together to server some tasty pho. Well, I was wrong. Although I'm used to the smaller mom and pop Vietnamese pho establishments, this one really impresses with not only their interior design, marketing, and overall look and feel, but the food is delicious. I've been here a couple times already and think the beef pho is pretty solid; the broth tastes good and they don't skimp out on the meatballs or scallions. They have a self-serve condiments bar where you can get your fix of Thai basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapenos for your meal. The fried eggrolls are really good too and they serve it with a nice little portion of pickled daikon/carrot and some fish sauce to dip in. Yum! read more

I absolutely love this pho place! It's a fast casual style, where you order at the front then they bring it out to your table with a number. Most pho places are sit down with a menu and wait service, but I actually enjoyed this fast casual style! The extras for pho is self serve so it's however much you want to take! including the limes, Thai basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños. All of these complement the pho incredibly and make the soup super fragrant. The banh mi was delicious! And they put a bunch of cilantro (which is my fav). Really nice looking place next to Sawyer Yard. The positives were the serve yourself accompaniments for the pho and fountain drinks which is rare for a Vietnamese location. Now we have to go to the bad. The vegan pho broth was flavourless without even a hint of sweetness or savoriness. The best broths are those where you can eat without having to add any accompaniments, and I spent most of my meal tinkering with it instead. The resulting flavour depended on whether I had the right ratio of hoisin, sriracha, and soy sauce when I never touch those bottles in the pho houses in Midtown. Prices are also on general high probably due to the rent. My tofu spring rolls were prepackaged and 5 dollars for two. Wow. At least they were good, but overall go elsewhere because Midtown isn't that far away. read more

Pricing was ok. I got fried egg rolls and pho. 1 egg roll was really good the other had a fishy taste not terrible just different. The sauce provided with egg rolls was really good. Just right on spice. Dining room was really clean. I did get here when they just opened. The patio was nice. Pho had really good flavor. If awards went out for bland food this place would win first prize. The decor, view of the railroad, and location are all great, but that won't keep people coming back. My first choice of the Bahn Mi Fries; on the big menu when you walk in, I was told they haven't been delivered yet. Hmmmm, been open for 2 years and you can't get delivery of fries? There is grocery store less than half a mile away. Pork Spring rolls are pre-made and were kind of old. You can tell by how tough the rice paper is. The taste was good on the roll, spring rolls are basic. The peanut sauce was mealy and bland, you can skip that altogether, can't even fix it with hot sauce. I love a Meatball Bahn Mi, this however was sad, very sad, I almost asked for a refund. Trust me when I saw it tasted as anemic as it looks. The bun was soft and crunchy like it should be, almost no ingredients in the Banh Mi, I should have have just ordered buttered bread and I would have been thrilled. The meatball, when I found it, had zero seasoning, and I think they only used one and mashed it down and spread it over the bun; most places use three. There was cucumber, and a whole lot of cilantro, with a few jalapenos. If you love the taste combo of cilantro and jalapenos then this is the Bahn Mi for you. The service was just as sad, the cashier was bothered by the fact I interrupted her phone time. She was also less than thrilled to be there earning money to pay bills. To preface the review, this place is a "fast"ish place restaurant. You order at the front and they bring you the food. Combination Pho ($10) Meatballs were pretty good. Unfortunately, the rest of the meat, not so much. The amount was kind of small, too, compared to nearby pho places. Finally, the broth was very sweet, not what I'm looking for in a bowl of pho. Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls (2 for $5) These were premade and dry when we opened them up from the plastic wrap. There were way too many noodles and the sauce was subpar. Grilled Pork Spring Rolls (2 for $5) The pork was better here than the shrimp/pork rolls. Same issue with too many noodles and subpar sauce. Chicken Wings Can't remember price (I think it was 6 for $10). They were labeled as cajun but they were very plain... maybe a little bit of lime juice. I get that this is a "fast"ish restaurant, so if you're willing to give up flavors for speed, this is your place. If you're looking for a more complete sit-down Vietnamese experience, look elsewhere. The egg roll may appeal to some with a spice or garlic flavor but not me. I preferred just simple veggies and minimal seasoning. I had wanted to try the vermicelli but their only sauce has garlic and is spicy. The alternative was a bottle of fish sauce. Now while I can make that work it seems like many places I have eaten the fish sauce has been plain and it is up to you as to what flavor and spices you add. I would prefer to have the option. If all of the spice appeals to you then the $9 lunch box is a good deal. You get a Banh Mi sandwich with shrimp chips, egg roll and a soda. I won't be ordering it again but it was worth a try. Before kicking off a brewery tour day, one of my buddies had not eaten yet so we decided to stop by the closest restaurant. Luckily for us, Local Pho was located right across the street and I believe they just opened recently, double win! While I already had lunch prior, I only ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, let me just preface--I am a coffee snob--this was truly one of the best tasting viet-iced coffees I have ever had!! The balance of the coffee and condensed milk was perfect, not too sweet at all! My friend who had not eaten yet ordered a bowl of pho and spring rolls. It looked very good and he loved it. My other friend and I were jealous of his meal, we decided to come back after a few brewery stops. During our 2nd visit a few hours later, I decided to try the Pho and matcha iced green tea. The Pho did not disappoint! The broth was excellently cooked, brisket was tender and plentiful, and the noodles had great texture. The matcha iced green tea was also very good! It's a very straight forward place. You order at the counter, pick up napkins drinks and stuff, find a seat and they bring the food to you. After you're done you just leave your mess there and they clean it for you. I always get the chicken pho which is pretty good. It's reasonably priced too. Update: Extremely disappointed in the most recent changes to local Pho. I also can't believe they got rid of their fountain and only serve cans. For the prices they charge, I do expect high quality. I was also upset that they were "out" of the Bahn mi fries yet I saw some back there. I assume they didn't want to make them. Oh well, this gem is a loss now. Absolutely love this place! My husband and I are huge fans of pho. We are always look for new and delicious spots. We came here and you order at the front, never a long time(from what we've seen). The staff get you on your way quickly and you go pick your own table. They have a veggie station where you can grab your own bean sprouts, greens, limes, etc which is great because we always ask for extra lol. The food came out quickly and the quality was really good, size was great and the food was fresh! We quickly devoured our food and I even went back for a bahn mi. Meh, this is extremely over-priced and mediocre pho. Maybe I'm used to authentic Vietnamese pho that is extremely affordable. Super cute place to grab a bowl of pho. A lot of natural lighting and the restaurant itself is very clean/pretty. I usually get the combo pho but lately I've been getting meatball and adding tendon: 10/10 recommend. The serving size for pho is generous and easy to split between two people. Their Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee are both super good I usually have a hard time deciding which one to get when I'm there! The grilled pork banh mi also is definitely worth trying. I haven't tried any other sandwiches bc the grilled pork flavor is so good I can't get myself away from it to try another but maybe one day. I like their menu bc it's not filled with too many options like some pho places that make it too complex with 15+ pho options. This is my favorite pho place in Houston. read more

Since coming across this place last year, we stop in here when we don't feel like making the drive to our favorite pho place in Spring Branch. We love the location. It's located in Sawyer Yards so it's right in the neighborhood but being honest, it's just ok. Their menu has all of the good staples. Spring rolls, pho, bánh mì, and vermicelli plate make up the menu. The pho price is reasonable ranging from $7 -$10, they have veggie pho with tofu and mushrooms, chicken, brisket, and combination. The pho is always good but there's just something missing from the broth. The spring rolls are just ok. Definitely not my favorite but their fried spring rolls are delish. The spring rolls are $5 for 2 and the fried spring rolls are $3 for 2 which isn't bad at all. It's counter service, so just place your order and they'll bring your food to your table. They also have a veggie station where you can stock up on jalapeños, sprouts, and all of goodies that go with pho. They also have a few local beers on tap. I noticed that the selection changes but all very good choices. They also have plenty of seating. There are seats in the front area, bar style seats along their side wall and also seating in the back of the restaurant and patio seats too. Third time at local pho expecting a different outcome but the food and service are just a miss. No one greets you as you walk in, and the staff are impersonal and not friendly. The pho flavor was way off, and the noodles were a soggy mush. I couldn't even eat them. I heard there was a new pho place in the Heights area, and I had to try it! I saw it was located at Sawyer Yards, a creative campus full of industrial warehouses near to downtown. I've never actually heard of this area, but I saw there were many art studios, galleries, restaurants, fitness gyms, breweries, and there was even a public art plaza! It looks very new, clean, and there's plenty of parking. Okay, back to the pho. The restaurant is actually pretty nice. It has an industrial design, and offers counter service (order and pay at the counter before they serve you). I looked over their menu, and I ordered the Eye Round Steak Noodle Soup (Pho Tai) for $8. My girlfriend went with the Combination Noodle Soup (Pho Dac Biet) for $10. We also ordered a cold Jasmine Green Tea with Tapioca ($3.75) and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($4). There is plenty of seating indoors as well as an outdoor patio. They also had a "vegetable station" with unlimited Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and limes where you serve yourself toppings for your noodle soups. We sat inside, and our food and drinks arrived pretty quickly. The first thing we noticed was that the pho broth was super bland. I had to add some pepper and a bit of fish sauce to make it a bit saltier. It was a lot better after this. The meat quality of my Eye Round Steak was pretty good though. The Jasmine Green Tea was refreshing, and although it was completely sugar-free, adding the tapioca added a good amount sweet. I thought their Vietnamese Iced Coffee was definitely too sweet for me though. I wish they served it the authentic way, so you could customize the amount of condensed milk in it. However, it seemed pre-made... Local Pho gains bonus points for the amount of parking, location inside the Inner Loop, and being nice and clean. If you're looking for a more authentic Vietnamese experience with better food in the Heights area, you can go to Pho Binh nearby. However, this place is good what for it is. A lot of promise, it a little short on delivery. Wife and I have been waiting to try this place for a while. It's a very pretty restaurant, but the AC is clearly NOT working, or, they're not cranking it down early enough for service. Pause for a minute...you're serving your namesake...Pho...a heapingly hot, steaming bowl of noodle soup...in HOUSTON. Please, oh please, don't be cheap and turn your AC cooler sooner so your patrons don't leave a swamp-butt puddle in your seats when they leave. It was HOT in there! Then there is the pho. The ingredients were very good and I really like the concept of the sprouts ana basil bar where you can get as much or little as you like. Nice!!! But...that's about it on the pho. The broth lacked any depth whatsoever. I have been cooking pho myself for a few decades now and know what stock tastes like making it from bone and simmering for 10+ hours. This broth here was watered down, with barely any taste of the cloves, cinnamon, fennel, etc that makes up the aromatics of pho. It was not tasty...only 2 stars for the pho. We also ordered some banh mi as well just to try it out. That's where they earned a star back. While it was a little scant on the meat they included, the flavor balance was well done. Their pate and the garlic mayo/aioli they made and used was VERY good and made the dish. I'll come back for some banh mi to-go (or eat there is I ever wanted to do the hot-yoga equivalent of dining). I've recently discovered a love for pho and decided to try this restaurant based on reviews and the short distance from my home. The menu looked promising, but failed to display prices, and we all know what that means... I ordered two combination phos ( abt $15), an extra bowl of rice noodles and broth, eggrolls, spring rolls, and a bowl of the grilled pork. My total was just under $60. They only offer one size bowls and it's a pretty decent size, you should get full. Everything was great except for the spring rolls, which are usually the best and my favorite part. They were old and everything about them was just off. Knowing this my fat ass still ate it and shared with my family. That was a mistake, as soon as maybe 30-45 mins our stomachs were upset. I should have not eaten it, but they should have not served that old mess to me. I paid my money which was already a bit higher than usual, I waited and I deserve fresh food. I was sick for about two days and reached out to management,not for a refund but to inform them of the situation,and the manager was not trying to hear it. Visited Local Pho looking to try new pho places around Houston. I was really surprised when I saw the strip of modern restaurants around. The entire stop of stores is in a really open and modern new area. I love the seating around the center and shop places being so open and next to each other. As for the food, the menu wasn't too expansive, but had great variety. They have vermicelli bowls, rice bowls, banh mi, and pho options. I ordered the eye round steak pho with the crispy egg rolls. We also got a side of pork spring rolls that were good starters. Everything tasted pretty great! We were happy about the taste of the broth and everything. The egg rolls were soo good and crispy. I would definitely order these! The customer service was normal. We came during an off time and were a bit confused as to whether they were closed or not. I ordered the Pho Ga which was perfect for the cold January evening. The chicken was shredded (instead of sliced like I normally encounter) and reminded me of homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup. You also have an unlimited amount of bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeño, sauces and lime slices at your disposal so you can craft your perfect bowl. The space is very large with seating in the front and the back. Sit in the back so you can enjoy your pho with a great view of the downtown skyline. It was fairly busy and the majority of seating is "communal" seating, so if dining next to strangers freaks you out I'd consider coming during an off hour. If that isn't an option for you, there are rows of window-facing bar stools so you may slurp your pho in quiet solitude. read more
