This place seemed great at first but then when you got to the food it was not great. All the food was premade. I bought the tofu spring rolls and it was fresh on the inside but the wrapper was hard instead of soft as it should be. The pho soup was pretty good but it didn't have an equal balance of chicken and noodle. My sister bought a chicken pho as well but she had too much chicken. She also purchased the fried egg rolls and the it did not have a taste to it. It was bland. The service was not great either. The workers did not want to help you and seemed bothered. The place itself was very cozy and calm. Not very much business. Would I come here again? No I would not. Do I recommend? No I do not.

Omg! This is the most horrible Vietnamese food ever. I can't even imagine how they got these 4 star reviews. Service was fair. Beautiful well appointed interiors and very clean. But the biggest problem was the food. We ordered the pork vermicelli and was so disappointed. The pork wasn't seasoned at all and it was very tough and dry. The sauce lacked proper seasoning. Although this place provided various condiments on the table the dish should have already have the Vietnamese taste. The pork should have been barbecued with Vietnamese seasonings. The spring rolls were a very dark color and we were told they were fresh. We decided to cancel that order and got fried egg rolls instead. Unfortunately they too were very bland. So I'm not sure how this place got such a high rating.

My husband and I first went to Local Pho when it opened and have gotten it to go a few times! We were craving pho after attending such a fun wedding, so went to Local Pho since we knew parking is never an issue and they are pretty fast. We got the combination pho, egg rolls and grilled pork banh mi to share. Food came out within less than 10 minutes and was hot and steaming. Grilled Banh Mi was good. Definitely could have had a little more grilled pork inside, but was in a crispy baguette and veggies that gave a great crunch. Combination Pho: My husband likes sweet broth and this definitely was sweet and made to perfection. Full of flavor as well. It had well enough noodles/meat & was good for two people to share. Egg Rolls: We got 5 egg rolls and it came with a side of dipping sauce (fish sauce I think). They were hot, super crispy and filled with savory filling. Definitely enjoyed these. Price is a little high for your average pho, but it was nice to not have to fight for parking and be able to get our meals quickly. Service was super efficient too!

Cute place, friendly staff. They have banh mi, pho, eggrolls and spring rolls as well as vermicelli bowls. I ordered 2 meatball pho with fried tofu added as well as the banh mi fries with a fried egg. The broth in the pho was good, the meatballs were plentiful. The banh mi fries were like a deconstructed banh mi with fries, the bf liked them. Price point was a bit on the high side, plus they forgot my vietnamese coffee. Can't say I'd be in a rush to come back as there are other good pho places that don't cost as much.

Pretty disappointed. I used to come here years ago before I moved here and it was pretty good, but now it's pretty sad. I ordered round eye pho and egg rolls to go. After tip/tax, it ended up being around $30. Pho was sad. Very small portion for price. Broth was not flavorful at all. Noodles were mushy. Meat was okay. I asked for extra lime and basil in my order which I did not receive. Bag of toppings include bean sprouts, one small lime wedge, and little basil. Egg rolls were good. Just like the pho, the service is also sad! No greetings when I walked in. Asked the girl working as the cashier for extra lime and basil since it was not in my order and was handed another premade bag of toppings. She also rolled her eyes when asked like it was that much of an inconvenience to grab a premade bag from the fridge. Sorry girl, maybe a restaurant job isn't for you if you can't give an ounce of customer service. For an outrageous $30, I would expect better quality and service. Maybe everything is better when dining in, but I don't think I will be returning.

The food here is authentic! They toast your bun mi buns fresh and make your sandwiches fresh. I have been here a few times and enjoy the service as well. Smiling faces and really great service. They have a couple long tables so you can bring a group and eat here. They play good music and I enjoy the pho you can taste the bone broth delicious

Pretty good quick service. One star deducted just because I think it was a tad overpriced. For two meals and a small app it was $50.00. A bit pricy given the other Asian and specifically Pho restaurants in the area. Broth was super flavorful, interior was spacious and I was a bit sad to say we were the only customers in there sitting to eat. Is it the best I've been to? No. Is it a solid option? Absolutely!

It been a Houston institution since 1999. Walking into K&G's can be quite overwhelming on the first visit. Anything you could possibly want is listed on the menu. I recommend looking t it online before coming, just so you can have an idea of what you might want to eat. My dad(96) and I are frequent visitors and we always seem to get the open faced roast beef, which is stacked high and there is always left overs for eating at home the next day. The pickles are a fan favorite for me, and I tend to devour several of them. This visit I decided to try the fried fish sandwich (made with halibut) with onion rings and french fries and my friend, a Houston native who had never been here, went for the Schleppy Joe with onion rings. These sandwiches were stunning and wonderful. I saved half for to go so I could have their classic New York Cheesecake... the best in the city. My niece wanted the chocolatey-est dessert on the menu so our awesome waiter (a very personable and kind guy) recommended a multi-layered chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and we decided to have it a la mode. He asked if we wanted it hot or warm. We ordered it warm and in hindsight we wish we'd ordered it hot but it was still perfect for a chocolate fix. He even brought out a candle for the cake when he found out her birthday was coming up the following week. I also ordered a cheesecake and we shared each other's desserts. Needless to say we had plenty to take home and we thoroughly enjoyed it the following day as well and at a hotter temperature that was perfect with soft serve ice cream.

Not many restaurants in Houston offer Takowasa, which is marinated raw octopus with wasabi; and when we find one that does, it's our must order for appetizers. We also ordered the chicken karaage and agedashi tofu. The karaage was juicy and slightly larger than the size of popcorn chicken. The tofu was soft and lightly battered, however the downside is that it gets soggy quickly since it's sitting in the sauce rather than on the side. For our entrees, we got the carbonara, curry tonkatsu rice, niku tama ankake, and kakuni udon. The carbonara was nice and creamy. The curry rice tastes exactly like the Japanese box curry. The niku tama is more of a thicker soup base similar to egg drop soup, however has a more slightly sweet umami flavor. The kakuni udon had a lighter broth with braised pork belly. The service was a bit slow here, but we didn't mind it too much. The interior had a cute traditional Japanese style decor. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and we'll be back to try other udons.
