I give this place a solid 3 stars. I ordered Spring Rolls, Chicken Pho and Thai Tea for the price of 21 dollars. I thought the taste of the food was pretty decent, but I didn't think that it was 21 dollars worth. My favorite out of the entire meal was probably the view of downtown Houston and the Thai tea with tapioca - always my favorite anywhere I go that makes good boba. If you're looking for a cheap lunch this isn't the place, but if you're willing to pay a higher price for a quick lunch then I will definitely recommend this place. When I arrived, I was nicely welcomed with a beautiful view of downtown Houston's city skyline. Local Pho is located in the Heights area near Buffalo Bayou Park. This restaurant was a new pho place that I had to try, and it was also a recommendation from my husband coworkers. The restaurant has a modern, trendy vibe to it that I was really digging. There are nicely dark-stain wooden bench tables, chalkboard walls, lit Edison light bulbs, and an open glass view to their prep kitchen. Also, there is a veggie and drink station, and each table is stocked with basic pho condiments. Their menu offers a good variety of Vietnamese staples such as spring rolls, banh mis, vermicelli plates, and of course, pho. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating to my group of seven. I ordered their special Beef Rib Pho Combo (Pho Dac Biet) which is a combination of eye round steak , meatball, brisket, tendon, and two beef ribs. Their beef broth was clean and clear, and it had all the elements that made for delicious pho: the smell and the taste. The pho noodles were cooked perfectly, not too soggy nor overcooked. The beef ribs were the best part of the dish. I wished they would have had more condiments available for avid pho eaters like me. I was missing some fried garlic, fried onions, and other chili sauces that I love to put in my pho. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and I had a great time eating out with my family. Found it! One of the best pho in Houston! Now, the place isn't perfect and really a 4.5 stars, but the soup alone makes up for the oversight. The broth was a delicate symphony of spice and savory with a hint of grease that seeped from the bone stock. The soup condiments were self serve and the atmosphere felt tidy and upscale, yet casual. The only thing was that the beef ribs and meatballs were not of the highest quality as they both were chewy and tough to enjoy. The brisket, on the other hand was near perfection though! Furthermore, the grilled pork Banh Mi tasted delicious and had just the right amount of crunch to the bread. Again, the restaurant has some room to grow, but it's still on the top of my list for pho. My wife and I went there and got 3 orders of pho and a matcha (tapioca) bubble tea. We got there in between the rush times, so there is no excuse that there were too many orders to keep up. Nevertheless, the food was terrible. The noodles were all dried together. If you tried to separate them they ripped apart in clumps. When you tried to pick up the clumps, it would fall apart. We've been coming here for years. The quality has continually gone down to the point we can't go back anymore. We didn't want to give up because it's hard to find vegan pho and they do have the best flavored vegan broth. However, yesterday's order had almost no vegetables or tofu. One sad tiny wilted piece of bok choy, 5 tofu cubes, 2 carrot cons and a few tiny, tiny broccoli buds. The noodles completely fell apart and became a sea of tiny noodle fragments which were almost impossible to eat. The goi cuon were also terrible with a dry, hard wrapper and only dry tofu and noodles. No mint, cilantro, lettuce, onion, nothing else. And the prices have kept creeping upward. $11 for a bowl of broth with a few veggie shreds is ridiculous! And now they are opening a new location in Humble!?!? Try getting it right first. read more

Well somehow inside the loop some restaurants get overrated for some reasons (which I don't know why). This place to me is one of them. It's a pho place so I am reviewing the pho mainly. I went on a Saturday with a couple of friends after a substantial workout. If hungry couldn't make up for the flavor it really wasn't that good then. We each ordered a combo pho and egg rolls and a Sandwich to share. The pho was fine but anything to rave about. The meat didn't have much taste, the broth was good but there are better ones in a lot of places and the noodles were not very special. The eggs rolls were good but it only came with the sauce and I had to go to the counter to ask for lettuce leaves and cilantro. The grilled pork sandwich had ok flavor but it was rather dry. The only thing I truly enjoy was the hot chili oil. Once I put that in my soup the flavor of the soup instantly improved by 100%. Overall I don't think it's a decent place but it's not a 4.5 stars good (maybe 3.5 stars to be fair -wish Yelp can give us this option). Stuff were friendly the decor was trendy. read more
