I've been here a couple if times for lunch, and enjoyed it. This is for the recent breakfast: We had a group of 6 and a child, and got a lovely spot on the patio so the 3 year old could run around the grassy area out back when needed. The mimosas are right priced, and the Eggs Benedict was superb. And I say that as a person that doesn't care much for eggs. I ate the entire thing. Went to try this food awhile back and they didn't disappoint!! So we decided to have my daughter's wedding there! Casey and the staff were so helpful and attune to our wants and needs for our event. The steaks at this place are amazing and worth the drive too, not many places have been able to keep it small and keep doing it right, but the loading chute has, We were just there two days ago and had a pleasant meal out on their patio, nice atmosphere, great staff, and awesome food. If I could give zero stars I would. We called to make a reservation for a party of 9 for 6pm on a Saturday and they said they would keep a table for us. We showed up a little before 6pm and they told us they don't take reservations and that it would be a 45 minute wait. I asked to speak to whomever answered the phone cause they told us they would hold us a table for 6pm. The owner came out and said they don't take reservations. When I asked why they said they would hold us a table she said "it's good to know a party that large is coming so they can prepare" and to tell them when we get there so they can put our name down on the wait list. So now we are without a reservation on a Saturday night for a party of 9 for a birthday thanks to this great customer service. read more

It's quite a drive for a meal (40 mins from SLO) so you expect above average. The place itself is a rustic looking wood restaurant in the middle of Nowhere aka Creston. Dirt, wood and rolling hills, basically the country. Which I happen to like. Creston is a beautiful area. There are a lot of locals here and if you're not a local or you look like you're from the 'city', they aren't so friendly. The wait staff seem nice but can have a bit of an attitude i.e. See locals. The beer was cold and tasty, the appetizer jalapeño poppers were not so good, but the onion rings are very good. I ordered the prime rib, which came out lukewarm, along with my vegetables and baked potato. The prime rib is supposed to be their house specialty, but I'm surprised at that, because it was not very good. Had a funky taste to it. My husband said his tri tip with mushrooms was just OK. Would I return? Yes probably, just for the restaurants atmosphere and the scenic area. But I would definitely try a different cut of meat. read more

We had reservations for around 25 people. I get that we had a lot of people but with reservations you'd think they would up the staff. It took for ever for the food, to came out cold. 1 person in our group didn't get her food. We asked 4 times. She finally got her food about 15 min after everyone was done, most of the people had to get going. If you can't handle that many people then don't take the reservation!!!! Went last night 6/28/2020 and got the seafood fettuccini Alfredo which I always worried about. I make a fantastic Fettuccini Alfredo (the Olive Garden recipe with a little modification) and have been disappointed at every restaurant since I started making it. Loading chutes was better than mine! Plus mine doesn't reheat well for left overs and theirs was just as good as the day before. Everyone else also lived their meals. I will go there before any Atascadero restaurant for a nice dinner out. read more

We frequently drive 20 minutes from our home to eat here. Staff is friendly, food is great with a good menu. They have great desserts with awesome huge mud pie and Grasshopper pie(mint chip). I highly reccommend the "Chute" as we call it. read more

I checked the Loading Chute out on their website and their times specified 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. I examined their website closely and found no details as to what time dinner was. We arrived at approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday and walked in the door and observed approximately 20 people sitting at a large table and asked if we could sit at the opposite end of the dining room because of the noise. The waitress said no as that area would be opened later in the night and placed in a booth adjacent to the group of people. The waitress arrived and asked what we wanted and we replied the steak dinners. The waitress replied that you can't order that until 4:00 pm and it was 3:40 pm. We agreed to order sandwiches instead. My wife ordered a cheeseburger plain, just meat and cheese. The cheeseburger came and it was covered with mayonnaise. My wife questioned the waitress about the burger and the waitress replied I thought you didn't want the vegetables on it. We asked for go boxes because the loudness of the group of people was unbearable and we couldn't enjoy our dinner. As we were waiting for our check, another couple arrived and they were immediately placed at the opposite end of the dining room away from the large group of people.... read more

I have given the loading chute three opportunities to impress me and each time I have been disappointed. The restaurant has a very strange smell, similar to the smell of subway, and everything tastes the way the place smells. The food is very processed and not fresh. I hear dinner is much better, but the lunch is basic and unoriginal. While you certainly get a lot of food for the price, I think quality of ingredients is much more important than portion size. Service is generally very nice but I have no desire to give the food another try. read more

This place is way out away from anything but while wine tasting between Paso Robles and SLO one of the winery owners recommended it for dinner. She told us "make sure you DON'T stop at Longbranch" (I think it isn't kid friendly but not sure why she said that). This place is good. You get what you'd expect, a country town steakhouse, but the steak is surprisingly tasty. Well cooked, and dripping with flavor. However, they get wrong what so many businesses continually get wrong and that is their sides. Their baked potatoes are cooked improperly. Trust me, i've been here more than once and every time, the baked potatoes are not fluffy. If you like them this way (my father does) then by all means. I suggest if you buy a steak to get it with steak fries, not the baked potato. The salads are o.k but the main thing here is the steak, and oh do you get a steak. Yum. read more

Beware! Very Bad Service I live in the area, and some friends were coming up for a visit, so I thought this place would be a good place to have lunch on a Saturday afternoon...NOT! Six of us together, all in our 50's, thought we would have a nice lunch to get reacquainted. Boy was I mistaken. We sat down and ordered our drinks, and ordered our food about 5 minutes later. The waitress, we could barely hear her, and told her that we could barely hear her, told us, then had to repeat, that since we were 3 couples together and wanted 3 separate checks, that there would be an added 18% gratuity. What??? just because we wanted to sit together??? I let our waitress know that we would only have one check to save the added 18% gratuity. I go out to lunch regularly and am not familiar with procedure. And since I normally tip 20%, that would be a 38% tip in addition to our bill. I told our waitress that I thought this was a terrible policy, and to tell the manager so. Well, a few minutes later, out comes the man/boy manager, and walks over to my side of the table and asks what is wrong. I didn't expect a manager to be brought, I simply wanted my displeasure with the policy, brought to his attention. So, since he was there, I told him about my displeasure with his policy, and did not understand why the increase on all of our checks, merely because we wanted to be billed separately, and yet sit together. He argued with me that this is how it is done, and I told him that the added 18% gratuity was then a added tax on us. He argued again that it was not a tax, and then I told him that a tip was a gift to the waitress and you are making a gift mandatory. She wasn't going to get the 18% gratuity, the loading chute was! Then I would have to give the waitress her due tip. The boy/man "manager" was steaming at me getting madder and madder at me, as we discussed this policy. Mind you, I only want my displeasure brought to his attention, I did not want his presence at my table. We were getting no where with the discussion, so I told him to just go away. I didn't want anymore conflict, and want to be left in peace. Upon that, he promptly told us to get out of the restaurant. So at the loading chute in Creston Ca, the customer is always wrong, even if the customer disagrees with a policy, you dare not disagree, which is merely what I was doing. The boy/man "manager" with a chip on his shoulder, decided that if I didn't agree, that I was to be kicked out. There are only two restaurants in the tiny town of Creston, and we then drove, all "giant amount" 6 of us, to the Long Branch, where we were treated quite nicely, and had great food. read more

This is my sister's favorite place so we always come out here for her birthday or anniversary. I think the prime rib is the best, but all the steaks are good quality. They serve a huge dinner and they have great local wine selection or charge $7 corkage for BYOB. The fried shrimp and calamari appetizer is also tasty. The views in Creston are beautiful at sunset, I recommend visiting then. Leave your big city douchie-ness at home, please. You're in the country now. I really love this place. Good food, good service and just all around a great place to take a big party to eat! Been here a couple times these past few months. I chose Loading Chute as my Birthday spot and they handled our party of 13 just fine! We were seated outside in the patio area and it was perfect for our big group. The kids got to run around with the other kids from the other tables, which was nice, since nobody seemed to mind. Seems like a good place for a romantic and/casual date (inside) and a great place for large groups (covered patio area). The food was delicious (ordered the full rack of ribs ofcourse) and the dessert (mud pie) was just as yummy. The rib plate is HUGE, definitely enough to feed 2-3 people. I have a pretty big appetite normally and can devour a plate as big as that but I couldn't even finish (well, I did have to save room for my bday dessert!). I am a huge fan of mud pies (uh, hello...COFFEE ICE CREAM w/ OREO CRUST = HEAVEN!). It's mighty huge, enough to share (I had a tough time sharing!). Our server was a young man and he did an excellent job handling our large party so service overall I would rate an A+! We went there for lunch one day with a much smaller party of 6 and I ordered the Western Cheeseburger. That was sooooo good. I love me some Western Cheeseburgers...definitely better than Carl's Jr's! Lol. It was a much quieter, less busier time so got to experience both crazy and not-so-crazy days at the Loading Chute and both experiences were fine. We will definitely be back. This is my husband and I's favorite place to get a steak in the whole county! We come here often- both for special occasions or just a casual weeknight dinner. The food is always delicious- favorites of ours are the onion rings and the peppered steak!! We recently tried the calamari and shrimp app and I think that will be a new favorite for us as well. The Loading Chute is the best meal in town. The food is always great, the service is friendly, warm and prompt, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You may eat outside on the patio if this suits you. The Loading Chute host local barn dances, meetings for local clubs, as well as weddings and other events. It has a terrific outdoor lawn area, band stand, dance floor, and barn. I have attended functions at the Loading Chute since 1989 and have always had a great time. Anything goes for the attire. You will see cowboys just in from the ranch at the bar as well as nicely dressed patrons. read more

Was put on to this place by some co-workers who claimed it was the best steakhouse in the area, and they are right. Keep in mind it is pretty much the only steakhouse in that area though. Nevertheless it was a pretty good meal. The restaurant is located a bit of a drive out into the countryside but it's worth it. Service was friendly and prompt and the prices are very reasonable at about 20-25 bucks a plate for some big cuts of meat. Everybody in the group got steak and the meat is very fresh and of good quality. They offer a peppercorn sauce as well and it was a very nice addition.
