Pepperoni pizza with hot honey- pro tip, get the honey on the side or it will be DOUSED.
Cheri L.

Pro tip: Skip this place's lunch menu entirely, and go for dinner. Always, always, always ask for sauces on the side. Ambiance is cool- lovely patio with cats running around, a big grassy event space, and heaters. Indoors is comfortable with booths and tables. For dinner last week, we had the jalapeno poppers (ugly and phenomenally delicious- would recommend every time), I had a half rack of ribs ($30), and my husband had a pepperoni pizza with added hot honey. My side salad arrived so drowned in dressing that it could have been soup- I'd expected it to be on the side, but alas, that apparently isn't a thing. The bread and butter service, though, my god- fluffy, flavorful, and with perfectly salter whipped butter. A dream. My ribs were absolutely massive and the meatiest baby-backs that I have ever seen- well worth the cost, absolutely delicious, and I brought most of those home. The veg was fine. The steak fries were under-seasoned and dry, so don't bother- I'd recommend any other side. Looking at other tables, people seemed to prefer the baked potato. The service was mostly "on it". Least appreciated was a pretty intense laugh at my husband's diet coke refill from our teenaged-ish server (his second, which doesn't seem unreasonable to me- our app was fast to arrive, we arrived thirsty, and the entree took 30 minutes from the app leaving the table) that was a little bit interesting, while he'd sat with an empty glass since the app plate left the table. It's a good thing that my husband is a HUGE sweet guy, because someone had taken out every ounce of aggression in their body on that bottle of hot honey, and his entire pizza was just soaked and doused in what had to be a half-cup of the stuff. You could have poured it off of the plate. The pizza was soggy with it. I would never have served this to a customer in a million years, having worked in restaurants for years, but he somehow didn't completely hate it despite the initial shock of "oh, wow, that's a gallon of hot honey", so hey. Lunch experience: We sat outside, and service was a lot more staggered. The California Spritz cocktail was awesome. Refreshing, delicious, yum. Service was slower- our fault, we sat outside. The crispy chicken sandwich is made of pre-fab tenders, an actually really darn nice french roll, super mealy/pale tomatoes, good lettuce, and cheddar. It's fine. Needed a sauce- really dry. Shrimp and calamari needs salt, very meh, do not recommend. Good horseradish on the cocktail sauce, though. The special bacon and blue cheese burger was burned on one side, way overcooked all of the way through, and served with no sauce at all- completely bone-dry (and boy, did it taste that way- what a struggle), and had zero seasoning. There is no salt on the tables, so you'll need to ask for everything that you need- ketchup for fries, etc. Once your food arrives, though, they won't stop by again until they're dropping off your check... to a table across the dining room. (Thankfully, those folks exclaimed their confusion) Good news: The lunch fries are different and better than the gnarly, dry steak fries at dinner. Not great, but fine. Bad news: Lunch is "technically, we're open". Don't do it- the lot is empty for a reason at lunch, and full at dinner for a reason. Follow the crowd of motorcycles and classic cars to the biker bar up the road.

A burger was very delicious. I liked the chipotle sauce. The portion is a very good size and the meat was very juicy. The service was pretty fast for a weekday afternoon. Cute little restaurant with a very country vibe.

Pepperoni pizza, no hot honey

Got reservations for a Friday as we were up there for the weekend. Food was great and the bread was awesome. I have pictures posted of our order.

Dropped by for a late lunch on the way back to Clovis. Locals know the Loading Chute, serving great food for many years and it hasn't changed. My husband and I both ordered the daily special: a prime rib sandwich with onions, mushrooms and cheese. Our sides were a salad and sweet potato fries. (Note: there is a small charge for these sides. Other sides have no extra charge. ) For dessert, a berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Everything was 10 out of 10! Excellent and friendly service. Bathrooms are clean. Thank you, Loading Chute, for not skimping on your food when so many places have. We'll be back for your excellent food and service!

Ribs and Chicken

Located this gem during a rambling road trip. In the tiny town of Creston. Great Steakhouse/Country decor. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Special Thanks to Becca our server. Ribs and chicken combo dinner was outstanding with a Delicious baked potato. I struggle finding a chicken breast that isn't too dense or dry (being a thigh and leg kinda gal). This chicken breast was moist and prepared just right. With the tender and tasty ribs, we were both very happy with our meals. We will be returning to try out some of their other options.

Steak Kabobs- very saucy!

We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor area. Food was delicious. From the warm bread basket to the outstanding meat selection and generous sized sides! Service was perfect. Everyone working was very attentive. We enjoyed our meal and will be back soon.

Everything tasted amazing! Service was great. Originally came here for the steaks but I guess they do not really serve the steaks til after 4pm. I was able to get the rib eye sandwich without the bread. It tasted awesome and cooked at the right temp. Medium rare just how I like it. The clam chowder was amazing! Super chunky, lots of large clams, and not watery at all. Chicken strips were also good. Not too bready. I do not like Cole slaw so much but this one was excellent. Salad also tasted great and we added steak there as well.

High quality steak dinner and appetizers. Always a favorite spot to grab dinner when in creston. Customer service and location makes for a great dinner.

Ok, I usually do not give a 5 star for most restaurants around here, as in So Cal there are so many good ones. I cannot believe I've never been here, it opened the same year my husband and I moved up here. My hair dresser told me about it. So I made reservations via phone. To get there from the. 101 its a winding road, harder to go get there but easier to get back. Our server was Jennifer, she was so nice informative and friendly. We were given some nice warm bread. Many places now you have to pay for bread, Jennifer told us we could split a dinner, but my husband and I like leftovers. It was a very reasonable fee. We both had the larger prime rib dinner, mine was medium, with garlic mash potatoes, I changed from a bake potato. My husband's was rare and he had rice pilaf. We both had vegetables and salads. Normally I skip desert but the Lemon cake with berries called to me. Since I had leftovers I now also have desert. I was hoping for an open bar, but since they didn't have mixed drinks, I got a wine spritzer. It was probably better for me light and refreshing, my husband got a Modelo on draft. We are already trying to decide what to have when we're go back. The ambiance is typical of an old place, bar, outdoor seating.

The smaller sirloin with 3 shrimp.

I'm always a bit of a skeptical but an optimistic one so okay, why not give this spot a try. We came here for a super early dinner, basically right after the restaurant opened at 4 pm. We wanted to avoid the dinner rush and having to wait forever without a reservation. So we got seated very quickly. Now, the ambiance and decor is very bare bones and honestly, no frills. Nothing fancy and not a fancy, romantic date night spot but a great pragmatic date night spot or solo date spot. Our server Christian was wonderful and very prompt and attentive. We ordered the 20 oz Ribeye and shared it among a heavy eater and a light eater. The meal comes with crunchy chilled pickles, a side and a salad and also, a basket of crackers (Ritz, saltines and breadsticks), a cup of salsa that's meant to be eaten with the steak but we started eating it as a dip with the crackers. Also came with their signature beans and also garlic bread. And also ice cream at the end. When the steak came...it has that perfect crust and sear from the Santa Maria style, where the steak is cooked over an open flame. There's just nothing like a flame grilled steak. We ordered it medium rare and upon the first bite, WOW!!! Super tender and juicy and tasted so fresh, also lightly seasoned already. Nipomo is kind of in the middle of nowhere but if you find yourself driving along the 1 Highway and going either south or north, plan and make a stop here. You won't be disappointed. And overall, great value for the money considering the price you pay for the steak comes with everything.

Maybe it is because we are watching "Yellowstone" on TV, but I was craving the flavor of the Old West, which can still be found in many places around SLO. We returned to Pig Iron Restaurant in Templeton, where we had dined about three years ago when they very first opened up! it was kind of bare and spacious our first time there. It was great to see how they have added to the space and now have room for multiple functions! There's a huge outdoor dining patio with a coffee pick up bar. There's a an indoor dining area where you order your food at a counter. There's also the Club Car Bar with its own separate room. I remembered that Pig Iron sando was good. My husband ordered the Pig Iron. I went for two smoked chicken, Cowboy Tacos, and our friend got a burger. We topped it all off with onion rings. It's the kind of place that you order at a counter in the Merchandise room, then take a buzzer to your table. We commandeered a large booth in the fairly small dining room. It has maybe eight or 10 tables. There is are a couple lounge chairs by the fireplace, which is very cozy on a cool day. By the time our food was ready, the dining room was full. That Pig Iron pulled pork sando is worth the trip! The meat is super tender, and the sauce is piquant and not too spicy. Topped with cole slaw, it is a perfect lunchtime meal. Burger was also nicely done kind of a smashed burger. The tacos were aptly named Cowboy Tacos, as I felt that they were gringo tacos. They were bland, since they didn't have sauce on them and the chicken was in tiny chunks and not shredded. The onion rings were crispy and fun to dunk in the Ranch dressing. We hunkered down cowboy style and enjoyed our meal, talking about about outer space and the moon trip while enjoying our food in the cozy ambience of an evocative historic setting!

Both breads did come out a bit cold though and I wish the sourdough was crispier. - Beet and endive salad (4/5): one of the best beet salads we've had. The sauce really brings the dish together with the herbed goat cheese flavor shining subtley through. - Bone marrow tots (4/5): this was the reason we wanted to try come ox + anchor and it did not disappoint. We couldn't really taste the bone marrow, which we had expected to shine, but the tots themselves were perfectly crispy and flavored. We both also loved the horseradish creme fraiche that helped cut through some of the heaviness of this dish. Note though that there is an odd amount of tots per dish so my gf and I had to fight over the last one. - 10oz american wagyu flat iron (5/5): we ordered this medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. The steak was juicy but not overly fatty since it was consistently marbled. It was seasoned well but we loved trying all the different complimentary sauces with it - especially the red wine bordelaise sauce. So glad we tried this! - Ox burger with aged cheddar (5/5): Super fresh tasting and not oily at all. Juicy and super aromatic to the bite. Brioche bun was slightly sweet and made the dish well balanced. We also loved the tomato relish that was included as it was super unique and delicious. It was a bit odd having the lettuce, tomato, pickle, and pickled onion on the side but we had it like a side salad and it worked out ok. The fries included were yummy and definitely get the lemon aioli to add to some bites! - Meyer Lemon Cheesecake (5/5): Not heavy or overly sweet at all which we really appreciated since we were stuffed at this point. It was great how the orange sherbet cut through the lemon flavor. - Dark chocolate, baking soda, honey comb - Appreciated this small dessert for our Valentine's Day dinner. The honeycomb was dehydrated and crunchy when biting but softens and gets sticky when chewing. - Towel w almond smell Overall (5/5): Late review for our Valentine's day reservation.
