I had a work lunch here last Friday and I wasn't sure what to expect as I live in the city and rarely get out to St. Charles. Whenever I look over the elevated loaded nachos menu there are some ingredient combos that make me go, "hmmm. I dunno about that." Let me say I have been wrong EVERY time. I certainly have my favorites, but I can say all of the nacho types work. They are a great combo for Narwhals frozen drinks. I've been going to Narwhals long enough to remember going across the street to the AMC to get popcorn before loaded nachos was a thing. I'm reserving one star because Narwhals reservation and table system can be a little difficult. A more comfortable table will open up (because about 50% of the furntiure is backless or very utilitarian) and as soon as you get settled staff will have to run over and tell you it is reserved. I know it's not their fault it's an online reservation but it feels very uncomfortable. The staff has always been great and friendly! I do also wish there were hardcopy menus for my friends without smartphones or those that are older and don't like ordering on QR codes. First time at this place. Interesting concept. I'm giving five stars for concept and variety, three stars for flavor. Hubby and I both had Gyro. He chose the regular nachos. I need GF, and the gyro meat has bread crumbs in it, so I chose a salad bowl with oyster mushrooms. We both felt our meals needed more flavor; they were just too bland. My salad was smothered in tzatziki sauce, but rather bland. It should counter the salty seasoning of the gyro meat, but the meat just didn't have much flavor. We would be willing to go back and try again. The challenge for GF is that several ingredients in the menu have wheat. Oh! I forgot to add that they have a cool menu board that's a TV screen. Such a unique restaurant concept with a delicious variety of nachos! My friends and I tried the toasted ravioli (appetizer size), crab rangoon (app size), buffalo chicken, s'mores, and cannoli nachos. The ratio of topping to chip was perfection and the staff was so friendly! The appetizer size was perfect for one person to finish in one sitting and not feel overly full. The portions are a pretty good size for your money -my friends who ordered full entrees without sharing weren't able to finish. I also love that you can easily order frozen drinks from Narwhals next door using their connected window. While I loved the taste of the toasted ravioli nachos, the wonton chips got soggy *very* quickly from the liquidy (but tasty) bolognese ragú. It didn't help that the staff put them temporarily under the warmer while they completed my friends' orders. A thicker bolognese would be better. My personal favorite was the cannoli nachos! While I'd maybe call them "berry cannoli nachos" because of how fruit intensive they are, they were the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and fruity with a smooth creaminess of the mascarpone and a hard crunch of the cinnamon wonton chips. I appreciated that they brought my dessert nachos to my table after we ordered while we were eating our meal. One constructive criticism: It would be great if all nacho flavors could be ordered in the appetizer size as my friends had trouble finishing theirs and didn't want to bring home soggy nachos. Take your favorite southern pulled pork pork with sauce, pickles, and slaw and add the crunch of a potato chip and creaminess of cheese. I had these the last time and they were just as good. Crab Rangoon- I had to try these and was so so happy I did. The perfect blend of crunch, creaminess, sweetness from the crab and spice from the chili sauce. We absolutely loved these and will definitely order again. Philly- I got the Philly to go for my husband. Even after driving them home they were warm and tasty...just like your favorite Philly cheesesteak. The fried onions on top give an added layer of texture and flavor that made them even better. We didn't get dessert nachos this time bc we were too full, but We tried both last time. The cannoli was my favorite.
