If there was a sauce of some sort I think it would've saved the tacos. I barely ate one. I probably had like 1/4. The fries were my least favorite type. The chips were warm and looked like they were made in house and those were good! The salsa was also really good! I could've just eaten that. I did take the tacos to go and made my own avocado cream sauce and it saved the tacos. Just air fried the fish and kept the mango slaw cool. Boom. Much better. It shouldn't be that way though... especially for $17. It was pretty loud outside so if you want more quieter (still noisy inside though which was fine) they had live music outside in the district so plan accordingly! We stayed until close. Our server kindly asked if we could sit at the bar while they cleaned up and we had no issue with that. I'm a very conscious guest. Amigos Cantina might be the place to go in Kirkwood, which strikes me as the kind of place where the spice level is often inquired about. I'm not even sure if there's a Taco Bell nearby. I did a five-mile run before I sat down to eat, but it was mostly through residential areas. I kept the volume at a reasonable level, out of respect. I never actually went into the restaurant. A member of our group went in and requested a table for like 12, but then we just ended up sitting at the tables out front, on the sidewalk. We were considering those tables anyway, as connoisseurs of al fresco dining, but someone said there was also a patio out back. If the interior is anything like the sidewalk out front, I'm sure it's just lovely. The signage reminds me of the branding on one of those taco kits you get at the grocery store. I consulted Copilot while I was at work, doing desk calisthenics, getting myself pumped up. You may recall that I also sought its counsel before a trip to a Jersey Mike's a while back. (If they've yet to release a version of it in Italy, they might consider calling it Consigliere.) Specifically, I asked it the best thing to order. It recommended a few entrees featuring the shrimp, which must be highly regarded, and a certain kind of margarita. I can't remember which margarita it was, and I didn't end up ordering it. Separately, I saw where someone posted a picture of a flight of margaritas, and I knew I just had to have that. I've been obsessed with flights of drinks since I saw one was available at a brewery I recently visited. I didn't get one, and I've been kicking myself ever since. It might be my life's greatest regret. With the flight, you get to pick four of six available flavors. I got the peach, amaretto, raspberry and pomegranate, and I know one of the other available flavors was orange. It comes in its own custom tray, designed to be carried without being spilled. Each one is a decent-size drink, but they're not especially stiff. Ayo! As you might suspect, given the (overall) amount of alcohol you get, it's not exactly top shelf. But it's not the Kool-Aid-tasting swill that comes from a dispenser either. Of the four I got, I preferred the peach and raspberry to the amaretto and pomegranate. I went with Cilantro Lime Shrimp, which *was* in fact one of the recommendations from my trusty copilot. It was great! It's served over rice, so it kinda soaks up the liquid from the shrimp, but without becoming overly soupy. They obviously make these all the time and have gotten it down to a science. They fan out the shrimp on the plate so it seems like they've given you more than they have, but it's still a pretty decent amount, for a dish that's not that expensive. It's garnished with fajita-like peppers and a surprisingly piquant, erm, pico. The lime really sets it off. It's served with tortillas, and I packed each one with a bit of rice in addition to shrimp, peppers and what have you. It made for a surprisingly hearty meal, like one of those cans of soup that's advertised primarily to men. If, for some reason, I find myself in the area again, and I'm in need of a burrito, I'll be back, and hopefully I'll take a look inside and explore the menu further.

First glances: The atmosphere is very modern and clean. The music is very loud and distracting, though. We couldn't help but hear a very loud bass-y/subwoofer noise that shook the whole restaurant. I'm not sure what vibe they're going for - laidback family restaurant or club? The service was very lackluster. Our waiter was polite but very inattentive, to the point where it seemed like he was intentionally avoiding us. They only had two other tables, and he never came back after dropping the food off. We had to flag him down for the bill as well... Finally, the food. The horchata was good: The Chips and Salsa were okay -- the salsa was flavorful but the chips needed a touch more salt. I got a Combo with a Chile Relleno and a Tamale, and it was decent but the sauce was overly salty. My Mom thought her Pollo Ranchero was similar - tasty but the sauce was a tad salty/one-note. Would we come back? Actually, probably in a year or two to see if they improved. Having a Mexican place 0.9 miles from your house and not loving it sucks, and I hope this place steps it up for next time!!

Enchilada suizas were delicious and some of the specialty items were really well done. BUT our server was terrible. I'm hopeful this server is new and just learning but overall gave off a rude vibe. We asked for a frozen margarita but she brought a Regular. When server was politely corrected she went and got the correct drink but slammed it on the table and walked away. I had one question about the menu and she seemed offended. Now, once our food arrived a different server took over. She was very kind and sweet. So I would give this restaurant another try but hopefully server training is ongoing.

The menu is massive, and they have a ton of margaritas and other cocktails (sadly I couldn't enjoy this time - had to drive). I tried the Camarones à la diabla and the enchiladas verde. Both were very good. The enchilada verde sauce was really tasty complimented the meat and cheese well. The camarones à la diabla was also delicious, and not overwhelmingly spicy. The portions are pretty generous, and our waiter was very friendly - the prices are also super reasonable. If you're in Eureka and want a good sit down Mexican restaurant, check them out.

My daughter ate them, though, so I let it be. The stuffed jalapeño poppers were another issue. The menu states that they have shrimp in them, but apparently the shrimp is ground up. When my sister mentioned that she couldn't really taste or find any shrimp, we were basically told, "Yeah, that's usually an issue." If it's a known issue... fix it or remove it from the menu? The appetizer was barely touched, but we were still charged for it. For lunch, we ordered the torta and fish tacos. The torta had hardly any meat on it, and the fish tacos were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The service was friendly, but it fell flat when it came to actually handling problems. If a guest tells you they don't like something about their meal, especially something that was barely touched, I would expect the server to offer to remove it from the table, take it off the bill, or at least offer something else. None of that happened. The cold food was also confusing considering how empty the restaurant was. I'm not sure how long this place has been open, but the experience definitely felt like a restaurant that is still working out some operational issues. There's potential here because the space is beautiful and the food does have flavor, but based on this visit, I wouldn't go out of my way to return for a meal. In my opinion, there are much better options in the city.
