A New Job, A New Milestone & A Chance to Rewrite the Narrative…read more My best friend and I have a tradition of celebrating new jobs with a nice dinner. Since this was her new job and a major milestone, I let her choose the restaurant. She had visited Bo-Beau last year but didn't get the full experience, so this was her chance to rewrite the narrative. And it was truly night and day. I researched the restaurant beforehand and was excited to see that Bo-Beau is part of the Cohn Restaurant Group, which I mostly associate with San Diego and South Orange County. After this experience, I really hope they're here to stay. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating her new job, and for once, the restaurant actually read the note and acknowledged it. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was excellent. The hostess welcomed us downstairs, another staff member greeted us when we reached the rooftop, and our server quickly followed up. Then came the surprise: complimentary champagne for both of us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially because those little celebratory touches seem to be increasingly rare. Our server was also patient with our questions and attentive throughout the evening without being intrusive. We spent about 2.5 hours enjoying dinner and catching up over: Baked Brie Brussels Sprouts Steak Frites Everything was flavorful, and the entire experience felt relaxed, peaceful, and worth the price point. The food was great, but the hospitality is what earned the 5 stars for me. Real hospitality is paying attention to the guest, recognizing the occasion, and making people feel genuinely welcomed. My best friend got the celebration she wanted -- and a much better Bo-Beau experience this time around. Will definitely be returning!

We came all the way from Santa Clarita and we're not disappointed. Past all the namebrand places by the aquarium and came here and we're not disappointed. I had the work burger, which has fried portobello mushrooms. Others in our group had grilled cheese and poutine burger, and Italian burger and the hotdog and the breakfast burritos. No one was disappointed actually, we were surprisingly pleased with our selections. Sleeper items are the fried cheese curds by themselves. Make sure you get these. Also the onion rings are batter dipped. And beyond delicious! Only bummer is the drinks are cans, so if you need more than one drink, be prepared to pay for each can. The food was super delicious!!

It was really loud during our visit. I'm not sure if it's always that lively on Friday nights, but it was the weekend of Warped Tour, so there was a lot of music and energy. If you're looking for a quieter meal, this may not be the best night to visit. The food itself was good, but the wait was much longer than expected. We waited almost 40 minutes for our order. Unfortunately, my burger was also made incorrectly. I ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger but was served a different burger instead. Not quite sure what it was, but it had mushrooms and American cheese. Since we had already waited so long, I decided to just eat it rather than send it back. The burgers were flavorful, but they were smaller than I expected for the price, and they don't come with fries. To round out my meal, I ordered the poutine fries. They were decent. The fries were nice and crispy, which I appreciated. My husband ordered the Burger Don Chendo, and that ended up being the standout of the night. I usually don't like spicy food, but this burger had just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but between the long wait, the incorrect order, and the portion size for the price, the experience was a bit hit-or-miss. I'd be willing to give them another try, especially for the Don Chendo burger, but I'm hoping for a smoother experience next time.

Whether you're going for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, The Attic is one of those places that just has something special about it. They've got an outdoor patio, an indoor-outdoor patio, and a completely indoor dining area. Every space has its own personality. It's one of the most unique, eclectic restaurants you'll find in Long Beach. And if you love cornbread, oh my God, you have to try theirs! It's warm, buttery, served with honey, and absolutely delicious. I'm telling you, it's worth going just for the cornbread. The breakfasts are great. The lunches are great. The food across the board is fantastic. The bartenders are great. The menu has plenty of variety, and the whole place just has this incredible vibe. Imagine trying to find the restaurant with the biggest personality on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. That's basically The Attic. There's a certain energy to this place that's hard to describe. It's the same way Palm Springs has its own energy, or Melrose Avenue has a certain feeling you can't quite replicate anywhere else. The Attic has that kind of magic. And the best part? The food actually lives up to the atmosphere. The menu doesn't disappoint, the service is great, and the entire experience feels like something you won't find anywhere else. To me, The Attic represents Long Beach in every possible way. Because that's what makes Long Beach special, right? We're not Orange County. We're not Los Angeles. We're Long Beach. We have our own personality, our own culture, and our own energy. We're a little eclectic, a little unexpected, and completely ourselves. And that's exactly the kind of experience you'll find at The Attic.

Booth the food and drinks were nice. This visit, we stopped by in the afternoon just as happy hour was starting. There was a good amount of people already inside which could be that in between lunch rush and beginning of happy hour. Getting a table was a cinch as we were seating right away on the patio. It is pet friendly which is also nice. Layout of the restaurant is, majority of the seating is outdoor which is covered. There's the dining area inside the restaurant which is pretty small, another patio to the side of that as well as the private room to the side for more of an intimate experience. Mainly the front patio and bar area tends to be the busiest. Staff were all amazing and friendly which is a major plus. Nobody wants to come an establishment where service is snooty and rude. Everyone was a major doll and the sweetest. Our waiter, I didn't get his name was the sweetest. As it was HH, they only had that menu available. Limited but still decent for what was offered. A good selection in cocktails items and for the price, they were great. As for food, same with limited items but pricing was great. They're known for the Mac and cheese with hot Cheetos as pretty much loads of the tables had ordered it. We've had it prior but this time opted out on it. Started off with one of their sangria which comes either red or white and an old fashioned. Both on the HH menu and very reasonable for 7.00 a pop. Cant beat that. Sangria was quite refreshing with the fruit slices while the old fashioned, it was strong. Actually worth it for 7.00. Food, a mixture of things to share. An order of their fries with parsley and rosemary with an aioli sauce for dipping, 8.00. The braised cheddar brat with house mustard, caramelized onions, Calabrian chili with basil and shallot for 11.00. Quite tasty and flavorful with all the topping and served in a nice roll. The chicken sandwich which was quite big. Fried chicken with cheddar and American cheese, chef sauce, pickles on a benne seed bun for 11.00. And lastly the attic cheeseburger with new school American cheese, pickles, grilled onion aioli, caramelized onions on a benne seed bun cooked medium for 12.00. It was tasty but between that and the chicken sandwich, chicken takes the leads. Pricewise for the sandwiches was great. Everything is à la carte on the menu. They do have other main dishes but we just stuck to the sandwiches. Also a second round of drinks was had. The mango margaritas and the classic. Both tasty and for 7.00 a pop, can't beat that. The whole experience was great. Service was excellent and all the staff were amazing. Patio seating is great as it's perfect for people watching and enjoying the outdoor. Until next time.

I've been to every Halloween pop up, they have been doing this for 2 years now. I was there on Sunday 10/04 and had the MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. First, it started at the enterance. My reservation was at 3:45pm. Security checked our ID's and then asked us if we had a reservation. He asked us to wait in line. We were the first ones in line with a reservation anyways and figured we would have to wait just like the others who were still waiting for their 3:30 reservation. No biggie. But. then a much larger group came and stood in front of us who had a 4pm reservation. We didn't think much of it and were waiting patiently until 3:30 and 4pm were called up first and seated before us. It wasn't even 4pm yet! Made security aware of his mistake and we barely got an apology. I let it go and still had to wait more time to be seated. So then we get seated, it takes 30 mins to just get water. No one has came around to take our order or say they will be with us in a few, nothing. As we are waiting another party of 2 come and sit next to us. They waited half the time and were helped before us!!! Welp, it gets worse you just wait. We get our food first, still no drinks. Drinks got there much later. Well, I started to eat my food cause I didn't want it to get cold. Not time to wait for drinks water will do. I bite into my pot pie it was barely warm. I decide to keep eating it until i got to end of the bite and that's when i got cold juice and the dough was mushy. I made the waitress aware (she had just taken over our table) and she put in another order. Not even 5 mins later, I get my second order. I noticed one bit was a little burnt on top but whatever at this point i'm not trying to ruin the experience for my friend. I go to pull apart my 2 bites and i notice the reason why they were stuck. The dough was RAW and the chicken inside was FROZEN. I had my friend poke it because i was shocked and couldn't belive this BS. Called the waitress over she was really sorry and i showed her how i couldn't even cut into the chicken and you could see the ice on the chicken. She offered to bring out another order but I was done. I didn't want to be disrespected yet again by this establishment. She said she would have the manager come talk to me. I didn't really care to do so but he came. He came to the table a little strong and aggressive. Telling me he actually touched the bite and it was WARM. My friend and I sat there SHOCKED! We all poked it and felt it ICE COLD!!!! So, basically calling me a liar to my face. He's telling me he will get another order out, I refused. I told him I would only pay for the 2 drinks and 1 order of the pot pies. He kept going on about how it was only the second day and he didn't hire enough staff and blah blah blah. I don't mind waiting i'm okay with that. But when others are seated before me and waited before me, then the food went from cold to FROZEN. I have a damn problem. He should've saved his "apology", if you can call it that. He did cover our 3 items which was the least he would do after all disrespect i've endured. I sat there waiting for my friend to finish her food and we finished drinks and left. Cindy our waitress took over after the first waitress left to lunch. She was really nice and none of this was her fault. I asked if I could tip her and she refused and said we didn't have to. I wanted to so I did. I insisted! At this point, the manager came around the corner and i could hear him on her about the tip. I had to intervene and tell him I WANTED TO DO THIS FOR HER. He was really out of line with her!!! She was trying to explain to him that i insisted on tipping and he was not listening to her! Get a new manager. This guy is not a people person. He's a gaslighting individual who has now cost you loyal customer. Days ago I get one of your loyal customer emails. Nice way of treating your loyal customers. P.S. It was very obvious who they wanted to seat & serve first and it wasn't the Latina and Black girl.

After hearing great things about Loaded Cafe's food and drinks, I decided to finally give it a try. We were seated right away, which was a good start. I ordered the iced coffee flight (which I was really looking forward to) and my mom got a regular hot coffee. It took a while for our server to come back and take our food order, which wasn't ideal. We ordered the chilaquiles verdes, chorizo and eggs, and a French toast to share. Unfortunately, the food was a bit underwhelming. The chilaquiles were disappointing--no cheese, no sour cream, just chips, salsa, and eggs, with a side of cold beans. The chorizo and eggs were the highlight of the meal--hard to mess that up. The French toast lacked flavor and was slightly undercooked. The biggest letdown was the service. Our server never checked on us after taking our order, and we had to flag down another server (who seemed annoyed) just to get assistance. No refills, no follow-up. Overall, I wanted to love this place, but between the mediocre food and poor service, I left disappointed. Not sure I'd rush back anytime soon. read more

I was a bit skeptical about this place taking some reviews here on yelp, I have paid two visits this passed week and removed my original one to better my whole thought on this place. Originally, my waitress was named Veronica. As for my first visit she made it fantastic and fulfilled all my needs. She's pretty generous and hilarious if you ask me. As for my second visit, I decided to switch up my order and try their waffles. I might be a little strange for being that type of person to visit multiple times but this location brings a homelike feeling. Today I was sat and served by Stephanie. I was interested in getting the supreme combo and I wasn't so sure if I wanted plain pancakes (taking I had waffles in mind). Soon enough ANOTHER great waitress available to make modifications to my order. She suggested to get my desired waffle for a bit extra. As said in my original review, this place is all and all amazing. Service is greatly displayed through all the staff. This is my official Yelp review and I'm officially going to become a regular! I recently visited this location and had a fantastic experience. the food was exceptional and the service was top-notch! The flavors were rich, and the portions were generous. Our server was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. However, the one drawback was the surprising $4 credit card transaction fee added onto our bill. While I understand that businesses have expenses, it seems excessive considering banks charge much lower fees per transaction. I find this action very unreasonable. Over a decade ago, I volunteered for a special event in Long Beach and was given a volunteer shirt to wear during the event. The shirt has the words "Long Beach", and it was a good thing I saved this shirt because it really did save me $16.49 on an order of pasta! I only recently learned about 908 Day when I picked up a 908 Day booklet from a different business in Long Beach. After perusing said booklet and all the deals listed, I determined that, besides a free car wash, Tony's Kitchen offered the best deal: Any pasta for $9.08 from 2 to 8 PM, though there was a stipulation that stated some items, including steak, would be excluded. I arrived just after 7 PM, and it was just about packed! There were a couple of tables open, but nobody at the front desk to greet me. I went up to the counter in the rear of the restaurant to ask about the 908 Day promo since it mentioned what I said earlier about some pastas being excluded from the $9.08 deal. 908 Day booklet in hand, I spoke to a younger server and asked her which of the pastas would be excluded from the $9.08 deal, and she mentioned all of the pastas on the menu would be eligible for that pricing. She then asked if I wanted to dine in or order to go. I initially said "to go", but then she said the deal was dine-in only even though the booklet didn't specify that as a stipulation. Well, okay I guess, but it didn't leave the best first impression, that's for sure. She told me I'd be seated in a bit, and so I sauntered back to the front desk to wait until I got seated at a table for two closest to the front door with less lighting compared to all the other tables for four. The other, older server handed me a menu for me to look over. I studied the menu and was intent on getting a $24 pasta dish since $24 was the highest price tag on their pasta menu. Furthermore, I saw that all but one of those dishes would use chicken as the main protein; the odd one out was the Creamy Chipotle Shrimp, which sounded like a winning combo that I had to go for. The pastas with chicken sounded good too, but the shrimp was calling my name. As I was looking through the menu, I noticed a party of four was seated at a table right in front of me, and they were given glasses of water by the younger server before the older server came back to take my order. Hey! What about me? Well, it only took a minute more for the older server to come take my order. Even though shrimp is not the same as steak, I wanted to confirm with her that the Creamy Chipotle Shrimp would still be eligible for the $9.08 pricing, to which she answered affirmatively, and that was my final decision. She then asked, much to my surprise, if I wanted for here or to go. I didn't want to walk back to my car through a dark alley in the dark, so I chose "to go". She then took the menu and went back to relay my order to the kitchen crew. And so I waited. They had two TVs, one showing the LA Dodgers and the other showing LA Angels, so that kept me company while I was scrolling through my phone during my wait. I wish I had remembered to ask how long it would take for them to prepare my order, but I timed the wait to be approximately 20 minutes before the older server approached me with a takeout bag. I hadn't paid up to this point, so a part of me thought that an unethical customer could just snatch the order from her hands and run out. Of course, I'd never do such a thing, but she did instruct me to go up to the front to pay. Wouldn't it have been easier to just pay up front instead of asking me to take a seat at a table? I guess they like to do things the long way. When she rang me up, she did specify I had to be wearing "Long Beach", which was clearly present on my shirt, and so I had to point it out. I almost thought she was going to say "not good enough", but luckily, she still honored the 908 Day pricing. When I got home, I saw the pasta came in an aluminum pie tin with a plastic cover, and a piece of garlic bread was wrapped in aluminum foil. However, they didn't include utensils?! Surely, they could have included at least a fork, don't you think? The portion size seemed quite small for $24, but reasonable for $9.08 + tax. However, I counted only 5 pieces of shrimp in the pasta; I thought there would have been a few more for that price point, but at least the shrimp was peeled. The pasta was cooked al dente, and that creamy chipotle sauce was packed with so much flavor that I believe they added too much salt to the sauce. Garlic bread was good too, especially when I used it to scoop up the remaining sauce on the pie tin after I finished the pasta. Even though I enjoyed the pasta, I didn't enjoy my overall experience enough to give a 4th star. I'd consider a return visit for 908 Day next year if they offer the same deal, but not so much if I have to pay full price.

This time we ordered the specials which come with empanada (potatoes and chorizo), mussels in some sort of "curry" like sauce, and and braised short rib with rice (you can also choose mashed potatoes instead of rice). You order at the counter, so we pay ahead. The verdict: wow. Everything was just wow. Such a great combination of food, I shared it with my bf and the whole thing was $31 before tax and tip. It was so good. The empanada was probably one of the best one in the city (the only contender is selva's empanada), the mussels were so good and the sauce too. Short rib with rice was amazing. It has more fat than meat lol but still really delicious. We brought our dog and they have a front patio with high chairs. It was a nice day so it worked out perfectly. The neighborhood is a little "sketchy" to me, this restaurant is literally surrounded by dive bars. I would imagine if they were located in downtown or 4th st, or Belmont then it would be so packed. But then maybe it would be even way more expensive. The price right now is great for what you get. Go try this place if you appreciate tasty food!

My wife likes their turkey dinner, I like their chicken pot pie ... there's your recommendations. But Hof's Hut isn't capable of serving ripe fruit any longer, and they don't care. I know they don't care because I have complained several times, and nothing gets done. Nothing changes. I have asked friends if they had the fruit and they laugh and say, "raw". Their cantaloupe is alway crispy-raw. It's a 50/50 chance with the melon. Their cooks should be ashamed of themselves for serving it. More over management should be embarrassed that they aren't checking the quality of what is being served. Yes, I am upset about this. This has been going on for almost two years since I first complained. Does it matter? Only in that makes me question if they can't handles something as simple as fruit being ripe, what else is being ignored or over looked in the that kitchen?
