If you haven't tried Little Johnny B's yet, you NEED TO! What a treat this dinner was! Some friends and I stopped by Urban Cowboy to check out their fast casual pizza window in partnership with the incredible team behind Redeemer pizza, my ultimate fav pizza joint in Denver, and were thrilled by every bite off their Denver Restaurant Week menu. We started off with their Caesar salad, which if you know a Caesar well, you know it should be peppery, savory, and crouton-forward. This salad did all of that and MORE. I will be dreaming about their take on this classic for years to come and will be back just for another helping! The main we all chose was the Johnny's Special pizza, and we didn't expect a full-size pizza with each order, so we were pleasantly surprised. Happy to report that this pizza also reheated really well the next day for lunch! The toppings are HIGH quality, that delicious cupping pepperoni beautifully seasoned, the caramelized onions toasted to perfection. Just ugh! So good. The dessert from their DRW pairing was an Almond tiramisu, which would be perfect for those with a super sweet tooth, I didn't particularly care for it, but I could tell it was thoughtfully made and good quality! The service is what you'd expect from a fast casual pizza window, kind and quick, and the ambience inside is dark and moody. We stopped by because we were starving and the pizza looked really good, this place did not disappoint. Normally I check what places look like but I didn't this time around because the pizza was enough to convince me so I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and decor, it was super cool in there. The guy who attended us at the kitchen counter and made our pizza was very nice and friendly. I really enjoyed Little Johnny B's and plan to come back when I'm in Denver again. read more

Just 2.5 months into their soft opening on April 19th, this hip gem located in the stunning 1800s mansion of the @urbancowboydenver (hotel)is already making waves! With a heritage that speaks volumes, @littlejohnnybs is a fresh concept from the talented @diomiopasta and @redeemerpizza group, and it's definitely a must-visit! it shares a space with the Public House Bar and used to be an old carriage house! We had the pleasure of trying two of their standout pizzas: the *New Summer Special and Johnny's Special. If you're a fan of a little heat, the Summer Special is a party in your mouth! The Johnny's Special, with its rich red sauce, mozzarella, fennel pollen pepperoni, and caramelized onions, is a classic that you won't want to miss. That burnt crust taste that only a wood fire oven can provide. Specially yummy! They don't take reservations, so you just walk up to the counter and order. Trust me, it's worth it. What I ordered: Johnny's Special Pizza: red sauce, mozzarella, fennel pollen pepperoni, caramelized onions Summer Pie: spiced cream corn sauce, pickled squash, fresnos, roasted corn, smoked cacio cavallo cheese Skin-on Chicken Thighs: with hazelnut Romesco + gremolata S'mores Budino: chocolate pudding, graham crumble, toasted marshmallow Best bites: The chicken thighs had perfectly crispy skin and juicy meat and the hazelnut Romesco made it unforgettable. The Johnny's Special? Honestly one of the best pepperoni pizzas I've ever had like a classic but elevated to the max. The Summer Pie was fresh, spicy, and unique and it really stood out. And of course, ending with the S'mores Budino sealed the deal. The vibe: Grab a cocktail at the Urban Cowboy bar, then head over to the pizza counter and order with reckless abandon. That's the move. Good find! We tried the burrata and pizza (sausage and pistachio). The burrata was good minus the chilis, which I picked out. It was needed to be served with more bread (but we ended up using pizza crusts, so it worked out). The pizza was yum too -- this was a unique flavor combo that I enjoyed. The music was overly loud and made conversation difficult. I'm also not really a fan of passing over the iPad with mostly 20%+ tip options when you're seating yourself, setting your own table and drinks, and bussing the table yourself. read more

Seems like it gets busy at night - pizza and beer what's not to love! The pizza was incredible. Best dough and crust I've had in Denver. The special of the month was incredible - I hope they keep this year round. Ricotta that's not dry, spicy peppers, a meat sauce and cheesy.. it was so good. Pistachio and sausage was the other one we ordered - has a cream base that's tasty! Didn't care much for the pistachios on it. The pizzas were flavorful, saucy and the perfect texture. Don't skip out on the ranch - the dilly and spicy are both great .. neither have a dill flavor or spicy kick! They have a small patio with a few tables and fire pit seating. I was lured here by a friend who fell in love with this place. The ambience is quite nice with tons of rustic charm. It is located in a historic house that is part of the Urban Cowboy Hotel & Bar. The bar is run by the hotel but the restaurant is run by the Mamas & Papas Hospitality Group. They are part of the same group that operates Redeemer Pizza. I wonder if this is the same recipe for crust, sauce, etc. The pizzas aren't marketed the same way. The small amount of service we received was great. My friend ordered at the counter and the food was brought to the table so this is mostly self service but the environment isn't akin to fast casual. I generally avoid this type of service model if I want to eat out at a not fast casual place. I am not a fan of a 20% plus default tip option for just dropping off your order at your table. We got our own utensils, water , etc. and bussed our table. I wasn't paying so I didn't have to navigate the unnecessary tip prompt. A business can choose just to price their menu appropriately and exit tipping mentality altogether. Admittedly, I am not the biggest fan of Neapolitan style crust, but what they served here was very good for this genre. My only disappointment was the "charred" crust in parts of the pie. It tasted acrid to me so I avoided it as much as I could. I won't ever appreciate this trend or desire to consume this flavor. We shared the Johnny's Special and the Pistachio + Sausage. Both were very good but I am more of a traditionalist so the Johnny's Special was my favorite of the lot. The Pistachio + Sausage was very rich. Something was needed to cut through the fat and there was an overwhelming amount of pistachios. Good thing that can be easily remedied by just removing some of them. The sausage was very good. These pies are 12". We tried the ranch with the pizza which seemed unnecessary as they had so much flavor already. Again, another dining trend which doesn't seem to improve the pizza itself. The ranch was good though. It needed to accompany a salad. But maybe the ranch is being used to mask the acrid char of the crust? Overall, a very nice experience. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but would look forward to going back with my friend since he loves it here so much. I'd request no char and skip the ranch dressing. And it would be nice to just get a sausage pie. It isn't clear if that is an option. read more

The place had almost no signage so was hard to find. Once the bartender explained the set up. It was easy to maneuver. I had an Old Fashion, which was well made. I can't even begin to describe the melt in your mouth experience at this place. You probably would never order olives as an app but you def should. Plus every pizza is somehow classic and unique. So so so so good. Plus Urban Cowboy cocktails are a bomb addition to the whole thing. read more
