Had lunch there and it was very disappointing. I'm shocked at the good reviews. The only thing good was the cannolis. The calzone was awful and my husband had what they called chicken piccata. All you could taste about the fries was garlic salt. I would not recommend to anyone. Plus it was over $60. Just not worth it at all!!! read more

This place is a hidden gem! An authentic Italian restaurant with great food, less the pretentiousness of fine dining! First thing you see when you get in is the display case full of a variety of pizzas, Strombolis, and other types of Italian goodness. We ordered the spaghetti bolognese, veggie pizza and a mozzarella pizza. The pasta was very good, al dente, the sauce a little too acidic for my taste, nonetheless very good. Pizzas were thin crust, New York style, both very good. For dessert we tried a Limoncello cake and an Amarena cherry chocolate cake, both delicious! We met a couple of friends here on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite the enjoyable lunch. The restaurant has a nice pizza deli vibe to it so that's cool. The windows allow you to look out on the sidewalks and roadway. There was not a lot of people but it would have been great for people watching. The food was spot on. I didn't take a lot of pics because we were talking. However, we ordered a couple pizzas, a couple orders of fried ravioli, salads and....(and that and is why pictures are important). The food was made fresh and brought right to the table. It was Good. The gentleman working the counter and dining area was super friendly and helpful. Nice staff always enhances the experience. Since I was just a little kiddaly Eating pizza's the main thing I diddaly And when I'm in the Memph For the first time or tenth I get yum slices from Little Italy! I should have got the spinach from the main picture, but the employees who were arguably possibly massively crushing on me and hitting on me, convinced me to get the meatball. It was full of ricotta and the meatball didn't really taste of anything so I didn't really like it. But Ricotta is never my thing, and Meatballs are rarely my thing. I did like the bread and the crust however and I could tell that if it was a pizza more to my taste like the spinach perhaps or the grandma, which they didn't seem to have out this day, then I think I probably would have ended up giving them a 5-star rating or close to it. They get four for now based upon the five star service and hitting on me and the ego trip from that combined with the three star slice of pizza which is very generous and adjusted for the fact that it's a mom-and-pop place. Employees smoking right outside the front door of this place is not advisable and they should rethink that - but when you're next to a tobacco shop that makes the whole Plaza smell of smoking when I guess who gives a f**k right? And down the street the Vietnamese place that I had just come from has smoking inside the place (and like 20 people do at a time and it's not a big room) which is damn disgusting if you ask me. Not sure why this part of America still loves to smoke and in public and restaurants but the sooner it stops the higher the ratings are going to be from me. read more

I feel duped by all these great reviews! This pizza was so disappointing and the pictures clearly show why. Look at how dry and hard the crust is..how overly yellow and stale the pizza looks. I think ours was def overcooked, yet it was soft and mushy in the center when we picked up a slice bc of the grease. I was hoping it tasted better than it looked but the sauce was flavorless. BEST PIZZA IN MEMPHIS BUT I CANT GO BACK. Just ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, mushroom, and onion. This was 16.99 in the past. Now, it's 17.99 for a large cheese and each additional topping is 3.50. With 10.50 in toppings & tax it came to 31.27 and THEN a .94 credit surcharge. For comparison, a large deluxe is actually less. I've included a photo of what 3.50 worth of mushrooms looks like. I give this two stars because the pizza was great as always. But there's no way I can justify going back. read more

Honestly the best pizza in Memphis. It's a mom and pop, which means consistency and refinement in my book. Eat it here: when you do the elasticisty of the cheese is a thing to behold. Their red sauce is insanely good. Not too sweet, depthy, and hearty. I highly recommend getting an extra side of it no matter what you get. The pizza is dang good, but the strombolis are the high-water mark of the menu. Any of them, all of them. The meatball is my favorite, but the chicken and pepper one is great as well...and this is coming from a guy who 1) hates mild pepper generally and 2) sees no use for (bell?) peppers on any sort of dish that has pizza dough anywhere near it. But, much to my chagrin, do they make it work! The staff is great. Friendly, attentive with a nice side of guff if you're in there regularly. At one point, I was in there enough that I need not order. They knew what I was getting. Heck, I offered to buy a t-shirt I like the place so much. They didn't have one...but had one for me a few weeks later (thanks Rita!), gratis. I doubt they need the free advertising they get when I wear it, but as long as it gets the word out, so be it. My only criticism is parking. Pulling out from the small lot on to Union can be a bit harrowing at times, but that's a small price to pay given the reward. read more

Meatball parmigiana pizza is good. The calzones are great. Neat, clean little place. Myself and a few friends stopped in for the first time. They got either calzones or Strombolis and they were great. They were also huge!! That's what I should have gotten because they looked so good. I didn't. I ordered the meatball parmigiana pizza. Because it just sounded good. There were no meatballs on it. By definition, a meatball is rolled into a small ball. Not a circle, but a ball. This was like making cookies and cutting them out with a circular cutter. Maybe it was a meat roll and was sliced like pepperonis. Maybe they were meatloaf slices. Whatever it was, it wasn't meatballs. I count 11 slices of meat (some aren't complete) served on 6 slices of pizza. I expected more. Their "meatballs" were really good. The flavor was spot on. The sauce really stood out in a good way. The dough was delicious. It was a perfect example of thin without too crispy or soft. The cheese wasn't bad, but it really wasn't very good. It reminded me of frozen pizza cheese. It isn't thick and chewy and it didn't brown like a good quality cheese does. If I do come back, it'll be for a calzone. This did not make it to my list of favorite pizza. The owner contacted me within 20 minutes and explained that mine was made wrong. I think the flavor was there and I will give it another chance. The reviews are too good here to blow it off so quickly. I agreed to the price when I paid for it and agreed to pay for it when I ate it. Quick place to grab a bit for lunch. Limited seating but seats open quickly. Great service. You can purchase pizza By the slice. They have a variety of pizzas. You can't go wrong with any of them. I personally love the ones with ricotta cheese on them. As a group we tried a variety from meats, to spinach to pepperoni. Loved all of them. I was in town visiting and needed some good pizza when we stumbled upon Little Italy. Not much parking, just a couple spots upfront. But luckily it wasn't busy so we we able to get a spot easy this trip. For COVID they allowed you to order inside but once you did you had to sit in your car and they would bring you your food once it's done. We were excited to see you could buy per slice, and we didn't have to get a huge pizza. We tired some pinwheels, which were larger than we expected, that had pepperoni and cheese inside the dough. They weren't bad, lots of pepperoni inside, but could use some more garlic on top, in my opinion. We also got a couple of slices of pizza that we similar to a calzone. It looked like a normal sliced piece of pizza but stuffed with different toppings. 2 had pepperoni and cheese, and the other had mushrooms. They were good, just very large! I think the main problem for me was the price. We didn't expect to spend that much, especially not getting a full pizza. So just be prepared. So, it's time for an update! They have corrected all of my gripes except the paper plates and plastic ware. I can't let that stand in the way of giving this place 5 stars! It's still "divey" and I love it. I'll give you a short list of some of the improvements... New paint New ceiling New oven New hoods (coming) Windows are spotless Brand new flooring. (This week) Each table now has its own condiments Still, the best pizza I have had. Hands down! I won't say the best in Memphis because I'm sure others will argue (stupid people, that is [was that out loud?]). I will say I honestly haven't had a better pizza. I mean anywhere! I'm a transplant from NYC, and if you're a fan of this style of pizza there's nothing like it. I would eat here every day if I could. The pizza tastes great if you get it fresh. The customer service in general is lacking. The people at the counter are nice enough but you can tell that there's not any training or much investment in improving the operation. We ordered online off of their website, for pickup. Placed the order at 2, for pickup at 3:30. They missed the pickup time even though it was in red on our ticket, and made the pizza right away, trusting that their warmer could keep it for that long. It didn't. That kind of equipment isn't made to keep food fresh that long... usually at a large chain food that's kept in/under a warmer needs to be tossed every 30-45mins. Even coffee. Let me begin by saying that I have always LOVED Little Italy. I have always had an excellent experience with service and the food I have ordered. However, I was disappointed with the food I received 10/4. The staff I encountered were unfamiliar to me but they were more than friendly. The pizza was less than ideal. The pizza was incredibly soggy. It seemed as though it was not fully cooked and, as a result, there was a good deal of liquid in the box. The result was a messy car seat, dripping on my clothing, and a less than satisfactory experience. I will continue to get pizza from this restaurant. I consider this an isolated incident but I believe in giving feedback to a business that I love. read more

Last night I had the Italian sub, a side salad, and tiramisu for dessert. The sub was toasted, had an abundant amount of meat, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and was quite delicious served with Italian dressing on the side. It was a little on the dry side for me as I like mayo so I'd add that for personal preference. The aide salad was just that, a side salad with black olives, tomatoes, red onions, it was a little on the small side but it was a side salad. The tiramisu.....Oh my!! Probably the highlight of my meal. It was fresh, chilled, just the right amount of sweetness. When placing the order there was a lot of background noise, not complaining because they were probably busy. The delivery driver went to the wrong hotel, but hey mistake happen. I called him we rectified the situation and he was there in an additional 3 minutes. I'd eat here again for sure! read more

I'm not sure how this place gets 5 stars routinely. We were here from out of town and like to eat local instead of chains while visiting a new city. The pizza was not awful, but it was less than average. Wasn't really hot, toppings were not evenly dispersed ( all the olives and green peppers were on one side of the deluxe we ordered). I ordered tiramisu( my favorite) only to find once I got home that it was not in there but chocolate cheesecake instead. No Greek salad dressing for the Greek salad, but it was good nonetheless. Garlic knots are always a good choice. I'm showing some grace with 2 stars bc they are maybe just getting back into the groove from COVID... maybe? I wouldn't waste my money. Terrible. I scheduled a delivery for 5pm. At 5pm, driver called and said he was here. Looked out my door, no one was here. Called him back and he said that he went to the wrong address. Would be right over to my house quickly. Waited 20 mins. Called the store and spoke to the manager on duty. He was very rude, told me that he would just call the delivery guy and tell him to return to the store with my pizza and i can just order somewhere else. Told him that's terrible customer service. After being mistreated over the phone and told to bring the pizza back and get another one a very unpleasant lady agreed to give me my money back but didn't. So do go to little Italy. They got really bad and expensive and deliver pizza with lower quality than Dominos. Do not get their pizza. read more
