My sister said she loves this place in Nashville so we had to go. They have a great selection of toppings both traditional and different things you didn't know you wanted. The service was a bit of an issue with how to work the monitor and a coupon code. The one employee I asked didn't know how to help. After a while the young man on the register came over to help and explained everything. (Thanks!) It was a cool little spot. The music was good and so was the food. They are individual pizzas so we were all able to get what we wanted. I couldn't finish mine. The crust is good and so was the garlic butter they gave me for dipping. I dig these folk pizzas! They are unique in the "BYO pizza" game. I just made my way here for a dine in visit for the first time and I did not realize it was a walk the line, build your own kind of place. I was sort of confused on what to do when I walked in. I may be aging more than I want to let on. I was lost for at least 2 mins. Hell, I even went in the wrong entrance at first. Old ass... The crust is different than most pizza places, and reminds me a little bit of Memphis Pizza Cafe's crust but a bit better. The biggest difference is the shape. I don't know why it's oval. I am curious now though. I walked the line and built my own. I got regular marinara with some pesto drizzle on top. She sauced it perfectly! I added italian sausage and pepperoni to it. Regular cheese for me! You can choose a drizzle flavor at the end. I got garden garlic butter. It's ok, but I'll try something else next time. You pay then they call your name to come get it at the counter. Me and another old man both wondered around a bit trying to figure out our next moves after paying. LOL. Old asses... It's loud and pretty hectic inside with all of the kitchen action happening inside out in the open. So if you are bothered by that, I'd stay away. It's communal seating for the most part so pull up and get ready to sit with strangers. Pizza tasted great and was way more than I could eat in one setting. I have to be honest. It has been a while since I've ordered and thought about them because they have their vegan pizza and it is STILL THE SAME. The V Thang pizza is always soft and I hardly ever get the sauce the I ordered. The peach stone mustard sauce is a distant memory. I asked for regular mozzarella and still got the gummy vegan cheese. Recently popped in for BRW, Slim n Huskys had a promo 2 flatbread pizzas n 2 cinnamon rolls for $25.. WTBS, it was certain pizza's/limited toppings with this meal deal but it worked out perfect for me. When placing our order, it was some minor confusion and the cashier wasn't sure of all the weekly specials. Everything was worked out in a satisfactory manner. Food: This restaurant offers pizza (there are some gluten free and some vegan options), wings, 2 salad options, cinnamon rolls, and various beverages. I dined inside this place on a Friday in August with my husband. It was our first time there, but I immediately noticed how clean it was inside. The artwork on the walls were nice as well. My husband and I each had Build Your Own (BYO) pizzas with our preferred toppings. They have a few topping options and protein options that all both appeared and tasted fresh. On my first trip here with my husband, we didn't realize that there were tablets at the entrance for ordering, so we went right up to pizza making area. The employee welcomed us and shared that we could order at the entrance on the tablets, but she also had no problem making our pizzas right then and there. We decided to just have her make them on the spot and she kindly did so then rang up the order. On my second visit, an employee immediately welcomed me coming in and I used a tablet to order my pie. It was easy and I was able to pay at the tablet. I sat down and waited and was informed when my pizza was ready. Value: $10-$20 per meal. Okay, this is the best pizza I've had since I moved to Memphis. 10/10. Everything was seasoned, I love that are so many options that you don't often see at a pizza place. I went with coworkers and there was something for everyone's dietary preferences. And the sauces that you can drizzle on top... sooooo good! We landed on the Cee No Green with beef, pepperoni, Canadian bacon and Italian sausage, and we found the pizza to be loaded with ingredients. I'm looking forward to getting back to try some of the others. I'd say my only complaint is that it was a good bit greasy, which speaks to maybe not the most quality ingredients being used. This is solid great tasting pizza. I love thin crust and it is perfect. The ingredients had great flavor, not that stale, cheap taste like chain pizza places usually have. I would suggest going when they smooth the kinks and the crowd eases up a bit. I waited 40 min past the time my pickup order was supposed to be ready. I expect that on the first day I guess. As long as the service stays good, can't go wrong with delicious pizza and beer. Parking may be a challenge when busy, but you can park on Monroe or Marshall and walk down. I've been a huge fan of Slim & Husky's since first visiting their Nashville location a few years ago when they opened. I was ecstatic to learn that they were opening a spot in my hometown of Memphis. The space is relatively small but packed with local artwork on every wall. You'll have plenty to look at as you wait for your pizza. The line was stretched outside the restaurant due to social distancing, but it moved quickly. While the menu has several specialty pizzas with preselected toppings, I opted for a create your own. There are near endless toppings, so the indecisive may want to go with one of the specialty creations. I always say that I'm going to order the "slim" size (10"), but I'm always glad when I order the "Husky" size (16"). The crust is super thin, so the pizzas aren't overwhelmingly filling, at least not from the dough. Since I had plenty of crust real estate to work with, I asked for red sauce on one side and white sauce on the other. It's like two pizzas in one! I topped my pizza with a variety of veggies including tomatoes, onions, red peppers and artichokes. The shredded mozzarella is delicious, hitting all the right cheesy notes. Every employee I interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful. A few were walking around the tables to see how dine-in guests were enjoying their meals. The staff was ok but, they seemed confused a lot of the time as orders weren't coming out in the orders in which they were placed and thusly the customers were equally annoyed and confused. I normally get the PREAM but decided to try the Vegan option they had. It's not better than the regular meat based pizza, but it's definitely a contender if you have a craving for their pizza and maybe trying to limit your meat based food intake. I was waffling between 3 and 4 stars for this so please regard it as 3.5. I rated down because the salad and drink options were not great. Their pizza is really very good. My wife and I shared two slims (12" long personal vs the 16" husky). One was the California Love with shrimp and the other was the S+H Hot Chicken. We enjoyed both but the Hot Chick was our favorite (who doesn't love Hot Chicks). I added the shrimp to the Cali Love because my wife likes shrimp but I don't think it really adds much to it. Even she was lukewarm on the add. If you are a fan of another 901 based, build your own, wood fired, thin crust pizza you will probably like this place too. I like S+H's crust a little better as it is a tad on the chewier side. Personal preference though. We also ordered a couple of salads, which also come in the slim and husky sizes. We didn't see much difference in the actual size (husky bowl is a little larger) but the main difference is the number of toppings you can add to the leafy base (3 veg only for slim and 5 for the husky [one of the five can be a protein). There is about a $5 diff between the two so I'm not sure it's worth it to go husky unless you are just dying to put ham or turkey on your salad. Their veg selection is a little limited for salads. It would have been nice to see cucumbers, sun dried tomatoes, and more cheeses than the mozzarella the use for the pizza. Also, to limit the number of veggies is a little silly. Keep the protein option for the husky but allow unlimited number of veggies and you will have much happier customers. You (S+H) control the portions so going unlimited shouldn't add that much cost and I'm sure you are throwing out way more as waste than you would put on a salad. The leafy base is made up of romaine, iceberg, and kale (that is spelled out on the order board). The kale is pretty forward so if you do not care for kale, like my wife, you may not enjoy this salad! I like it so other than the limited veg options I enjoyed the salad. Also, their dressing options are severely limited and do not include low fat, healthy-ish choices. The same goes for drinks. I ordered a water and a tea. Unfortunately I didn't ask if they had unsweetened tea and all they had was commercial (fountain) sweet tea which I cannot stand. I'm sure they had a diet drink option but I don't like artificial sweeteners so I don't look for them. I should have just stuck with water. Lastly, the service...really good! This is counter service, which wasn't clear to me based on my quick look on Yelp, but the staff was super friendly. They asked us if we'd been there before and since we had not the sweet girl who asked spent the next two minutes explaining the entire menu and ordering process to us almost without taking a breath! ;-) The prep staff and manager who rang us up were super nice and the pizza came out very quickly. Waiting to take a tour at Sun records , me and my daughter decided to try this spot out .the inside was very clean and decorated beautifully. They play classic hip hop music .you order from a touch menu and there was a helpful employee that walked us through the steps . I was in town visiting family and extremely happy to see there was a Slim and Husky's in Memphis, as I've had it in Nashville, Atlanta and Sacramento. The pizza is amazing and the vibes are great, but sadly, this is by far the worst location! The customer service was ok, not bad, but not welcoming either. The pizza was downright wrong! It wasn't what I've come to expect at all from them. It was extremely soggy and lacking in flavor. It appeared to be undercooked as well. The owners need to visit this location and work with them, so they can get it right. I won't return to this at all, but if you're in any of the other cities, check them out! read more
