Bahn Mi Deviled Eggs
Claudine R.

What a great find. Make reservations. We were able to get bar seating. The bartenders were super attentive and nice. The food was amazing. We shared the deviled eggs, pork belly, Lobster pasta and foccacia. The only thing I would skip would be the bread. Otherwise everything was delicious. The lobster pasta was the best thing. The pasta was clearly made fresh. Good location. Easy parking.

Desserts: chocolate miso ice cream (table favorite!), sorbet (least favorite- ginger and lichee flavored), bread pudding (mixed reviews)

Just had dinner here a few hours ago... I'm still stuffed! Everything was as delicious as I remembered from my last visit 2 years ago. And funny, I had the same waiter (Christian!) he was also as I remembered too! Pros- service and food, both great! I was a little nervous especially after my not so great dinner last night at Star Noodle, but thankfully Lineage did not disappoint!! Standouts were the cauliflower, Wagyu steak, and lobster noodles. I also remembered to order 2 tamago dishes (one to take home!) Oh and desserts were also delicious, no take home containers needed on any of those! We had several leftovers from dinner... but ate all the cauliflower and steak, and completely devoured the desserts! Cons- very pricey, but worth it!!

Szechuan garlic noodles and pickled cucumbers

Upon the recommendation of several friends, while in Maui on our babymoon, my husband and I made a reservation for Lineage on a Saturday night. The restaurant itself is quite tiny with limited indoor seating, bar seating, and a stretch of patio seating. We were seated at the bar and had two various experiences with the two bartenders that were looking after us - the gentleman who was the bartender was extremely kind and attentive. He was engaging and made small talk with us. The female bartender was quite rude and cold, and I debated removing a star for her poor attitude and service skills. Service aside, my husband and I decided to try a few different items, including the Szechuan garlic noodles, pickled cucumbers, aji tamago, and Lion's Mane salad. All four dishes had wonderful flavor and were the perfect amount to share and leave full without being overwhelmed. I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and the variety of spice. All in all, it was a tasty meal, but they definitely need to work on their consistency with employee service.

A nice restaurant tucked away in Wailea mall. Was at outside on a hot day with no fan but there was slight breeze. We went with the fermented eggs which were good but a bit salty. The special was kalbi beef which sounded good and was good. Lastly the lobster noodles bc it seems to be so popular. That was prob my favorite. I enjoyed our server who was super friendly and efficient. Def worth a try if you're in the area.

Food and service were excellent. We sat outdoor and it was nice. The only thing to note is that their garlic schezuan noodles taste like the instant noodle INDOMIE. When it arrived to the table it smells exactly the same and after tasting it I can't believe that it even tastes the same.

Food was excellent just like the reviews said! So much I had to take some out. So many new and different, delicious flavors were in every dish that we had! Service was great! Nice to eat al fresco too.

Pretty expensive restaurant. However, food is really good. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Recommend reservation ahead of time as they typically do not have space for walk ins. We made a reservation at the bar as we couldn't make one for standard seating (no availability several days before). They only open in the evenings at 5 pm. Lots of vegetarian/ vegan options. The bartenders that attended to us (especially the male one) was really friendly and customer service oriented. We ordered the garlic Szechuan noodles, the fish of the day 54.00 was the market price!!; we did ask ahead of time), the Lion's Mane Mushroom Liangban Salad. I honestly liked the garlic noodles from star noodle better but the size was a little bigger here. The noodles dressed up with the chef's special hot sauce though made the noodles taste a whole lot better (there are two types of chili sauce - a sambal (our neighbor had it) and a special hot sauce that is more orange colored). It was a little too sweet IMHO without the hot sauce. I noticed someone else mentioned it was like packaged ramen indomie. It actually looked and tasted to me too like it was not freshly made... The fish of the day (kampachi - type of amberjack) was really good. Steamed with ginger and some green onions I think. Tasted pretty authentic and flavorful and soft. Pricey though. The salad was delicious. Very flavorful with the bite sized shiitake mushrooms and just the right amount of dressing. We got a complimentary birthday scoop of delicious lychee/ longan/ ginger sorbet that we loved and devoured! Great flavors! They make their own sorbets in house and typically a different flavor every night! We might come back future to try their cauliflower.

I was surprised at how small the menu was. There were only a few options so you would think everything has to be prepared perfectly. We got the lobster noodles, which were the highlight of the meal. We also tried the garlic noodles and those were good but not amazing. Lastly, we had the steak. This was not cooked well and didn't tasted very good. Almost like freezer burned, I'm not sure. However, the highlight of this meal were the Mai Tais. The best we had on the island.

Service excellent. Ambiance excellent. Food was just ok. We're from SoCal and so we may just be spoiled.

The food was pretty good though I felt like maybe we could've ordered other things to be fully satisfied but the amazing service was really what made this place for me. They serve the food family-style but still high-end which was exactly what we were going for so we were not disappointed. Cocktails were great and the vibes in the evening are very nice for a more upscale night out. Food came out a little slower than expected and by the time our Korean fried chicken main course came out we were almost full and had to take it togo. But everything was really good regardless, my favorite being the mushroom salad even though it was a little difficult to chop up since they give it to you as a whole head of butter lettuce. The chicken was really good and really juicy, paired nicely with the side of pickled cucumbers

Amazing dinner from beginning to end Andrew was our server for the evening and continues to trend of people named Drew being outstanding. He gave us the rundown of how things are served as soon as they're done and that one shareable per adult is recommended plus an app. I disagree with that and say 1 shareable per 2 adults and an app is fine. The Korean fried chicken with sauce and peanuts was a thing of beauty. Covered and I mean covered in the sauce and peanuts. If you get this, ask them to cut it for you. It will be a challenge and it will be messy. Even covered in sauce it was still extra crispy. While I got the Korean fried half chicken my wife and daughter are vegetarian and got the garlic noodles, fried cauliflower, and birds nest. They loved their meal and said the fried cauliflower was the best, followed by the birds nest. Great for vegetarians and non vegetarians

Nice fancy casual dining place in Wailea. Food was pretty tasty, but a little pricey. We skipped out on the Korean fried chicken, which is what they're known for (maybe next time!), but highly rec the garlic noods. Dishes are sharable size, so definitely bring a friend or two to feast. ;) Highlight: the Kung fu pandan cocktail was a hit! It's a clarified milk drink. I'd come back for this cocktail alone!!

10/10 stars! This place was ridiculously good! You have to get the chicken and the garlic noodles. They are a must!!! The drinks are great, the vibes are emasculate and the service is top notch. I will definitely be returning when I come back to visit Maui

Can I buy the cute cat mug the cocktails comes in?

Aloha Shirley - thank you for your inquiry. Yes, they are available for purchase.

Where is the ideal placer to sit?

Outside is really the best but we also like the bar inside (for 2). The bartenders are always very friendly and helpful about drinks and food!

We will have a three year old with us. Is there something on the menu for him?

We discovered that the keiki menu in Hawaii means kids menu. If you go to the Lineage website and look under other menus you will find their Keiki menu. We didn't have children with us so I can't tell you if the keiki menu items are good or not.

Do they still offer the tasting menu here? Thank you!

I'm not sure, they didn't have a lot of what they used to offer so I would definitely call first and check.

Which dishes should I avoid - I can't have ginger?

I can't tell you that, but the staff was very knowledgeable and can steer you in the right direction.

Do you have a special tasting menu?

I have only seen special menus during holidays and/or their anniversary date. But, it is fabulous food you should definitely try them!

This is tough! I'm trying to make plans for my 5 year anniversary and my dinner is tomorrow. I was given 3 recommendations. This was one of them, Mama's fish house, and Ka'ana Kitchen! Does this establishment have like a surf and turf option as well?

No. It's not a traditional menu. Neither is Kana kitchen. However, those are our two favorite restaurants in Wailea. Think eclectic menu at both. If you want traditional food - Mamas Fish House.

What time(s) and days are there happy hour?

There is no longer any happy hour as of 9/20/21

Is there Gluten free?

YES!! If you make the wait staff aware they will happily guide you thru their menu. 🌺

Are there vegan dishes? I have three vegans in my party.

Yes they have some vegan options.

Aloha Lineage, My wife has a gluten allergy, can meals from the menu accommodate her allergies?

YES!!! I just ate there the other day and have severe food allergies. They were AMAZING and soooo accommodating and understanding.

Is this place ok for kids? I have a 5 year old and an 8 year old. Thanks.

Yes, Keiki are welcome. Check out the Keiki Menu.

Do they take walk ins?

Yes. We walked in and had a short wait to sit on the patio. I called first and they said I didn't need a reservation. Waited less than 20 minutes.

6.22.26 UPDATE We…read moreoriginally had a disappointing experience due to slow service, limited attention from staff, and the lack of air conditioning during our visit. However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

How I wish I had visited before that, because looking at historical Yelp reviews, the previous food offerings look SO much more interesting and were made with local and traditional products. Now what you get is $11 spam musubi, a pretzel that has both fish roe and sugary syrup on it (gross!) for $21, pseudo-Niçoise salad for $28 (WTF!), and imported shrimp cocktail for $5 a shrimp. Piss off! Even the server said it was a total rip-off. The menu is massively disappointing for those who actually have a frame of reference. Good thing we only came for beer. Tried the Kohola beer in Makawao and was very impressed. The Tall Story Pale Ale is really excellent, gold standard for pale ale, but you don't have to come here to enjoy it. Happy Hour is 2-5 p.m., $2 off Kohola draft and $4 off a glass of wine. Regular price beer is $8.50, fairly standard price. Unlike others, we had a good service experience. The ambience is comfortable, but I still would not return.

I've been to the Monkeypod kitchen in Ko'Olina, Oahu, and I have nothing but positives to say about that location. When my father wanted to take the family to this particular location on Maui I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, we were severely let down. When we sat down, main server asked me probably 3-4 times if I wanted anything other than water, and finally I caved and got a maI tai. After I finished it, he asked me another 3-4 times if I wanted another one, despite me telling him I was good after the first one. I appreciate attentive service, but the guy was incessant and trying to upsell us. As far as dinner goes, Food started to trickle out slowly over the next 5-10 minutes, and it was clear that the kitchen wasn't organized. I ordered the bulgogi tacos, one of my favorites at the other location. Unfortunately, they were lukewarm. The worst part was, they completely forgot about my father, who only ordered fries, and when he received them, they were lukewarm, limp and soggy. After my father asked for the tab, he noticed there wasn't a mandatory tip included for the wait staff, but there was actually a separate 4% tip for the kitchen. Since when is this a thing? How about you pay your kitchen a livable wage and quit putting it on the customers? So my father refused the pre-selected 20% tip and tried to put in a "custom" tip of 16% of the bill, which when added to the 4% would have been a total of 20% - in my opinion pretty generous, considering the lackluster service. Here's where it got bad. The server was practically breathing down his neck while he entered his tip, and when he was handed the payment gizmo because it wouldn't take the tip amount, loudly exclaimed "That's not enough!" and then threw it down on the table and stormed off. How demeaning and embarrassing! Is this how you treat customers here? I helped my mortified father figure out how to make the machine accept his tip (despite my suggestion that we drop the amount down to a penny) and we left without another word. Monkeypod, shame on you for: - embarrassing my father, who is a very generous man, - employing wait staff that openly demeans their customers, - serving us mediocre, lukewarm food, - and demanding an extra 4% for the kitchen that didn't take any pride in what they made. What a shame.
