Our first night we came here the service and food were wonderful, very friendly and helpful staff. They really looked after us and the food was wonderful! (So great we decided to come again) However on our second night the atmosphere dropped, staff were standoffish which made us feel uncomfortable and not enjoy the food. Thought maybe we hadn't tipped enough the night before but we had paid the service charge and always round up the bill by a few euro/pound. Overall the staff put a damper on the evening. My wife and two kids walked in for dinner. There were 5 or 6 parties seated eating dinner. The "host" told me there was no food left and they were closed. We were dressed just fine but I wondered if they turned us down because we were American? Within 1 hour the restaurant was packed with about 25 tables filled with people. It was not closed. We didn't have a reservation, but arrived shortly after 7:00pm on a Monday, and they were able to seat our party of two at a table toward the back. Shortly after, the room filled up with other people, so a reservation is recommended if you plan to come during popular eating times. The waiter was very friendly and quickly took our order. We started out with a chicken caesar salad to share, and it was delicious! A great way to start the meal. For our main course, my mother had the grilled sea bass with a sauce of lemon and extra virgin olive oil, and I had the homemade tagliolini with fresh Lobster and cherry tomatoes. She enjoyed her fish a lot, and my pasta was quite tasty as well, although I had to crack the lobster a bit myself, which I was not expecting. It ended up being a lot more work / messier than I was anticipating, and had I known, I probably would've ordered something else. Regardless, the dish tasted good; the lobster was very tender, and I really enjoyed the homemade pasta. Overall, the restaurant has an upscale ambiance, friendly and efficient service, and a menu with good variety. I would return for more, and recommend it to others! read more

The place has really nice beef fillet! We enjoy the whole meal. The speed is a little slow in rush hour but the food worth it.

Starting with the good things: steak was really good and juicy. Not the best, but from the top 50%. The other side of the coin: the worst service I've ever seen, seriously. It looked like the waiter just forgets that there are some guests. She served about 5-7 tables (inside and outside, not busy, lunch time) and here is the timeline 1. It took about 5-10 minutes to get a menu (how stupid it was not to change the place immediately!) 2. We ordered water immediately, asked for Wi-fi password and stared to look through menu. 3. After 10 minutes another waiter appeared to take an order from us and was asked about water. 4. Water appeared in 30sec. 5. In 20 minutes food appeared and we re-asked for Wi-fi password (it didn't work finally as there were a network with the name similar to what was written by hand on a piece of paper brought to us. And password was about 15-20 symbols long) 6. After we were done asked for check. 7. In 5-10 minutes I called her again to check what happened with the check. She saw me and on the middle of his way to me stopped by other folks and... forgot to finish her long trip.... :). After this interruption she made herself busy with preparing an empty table. 8. I went to her myself and it looked like she forgot about both my queries to her: check request and request to come. "I'm the only one here" .... serving the table with dozens of ready ones and customer who waits and waits and waits.... Never seen this before. Don't go there just because of food as the service also matters. And in Italy there are a lot of places with good food. read more

Nice little restaurant. We sat on the street. Wait staff was great, food was outstanding! My friend & I shared a caprese salad to start with which tasted very fresh. They also gave us bread with oil & balsamic. I had the ravioli with black truffles. SO delicious! Very rich, the 4 ravioli was a perfect portion size. My friend ordered the gnocchi which was good. Would recommend the ravioli more. To end our experience they gave us some chilled Limoncello. A little pricey. In total we spent about 30 euro each, but definitely worth it. This is an exceptionally good, classy yet casual restaurant within a couple of blocks from the Spanish Steps. The service was reasonable, but the food more than made up for any imperfections there. We stayed in Rome for 5 days and ate here on our first night and it was so good we came back and ate here on our last night as well. The food was delicious, the wine was great, the wait staff really helped walk us through all of the wine options and their tasting characteristics so we found one that we really liked. The first night I had the Gnocchi with artichoke and my wife had the Tagliolini with cherry tomatoes and burrata, the second night I had the Tagliolini with Lobster and my wife had the Sea Bass with Lemon and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, also the we had Caprese with Buffalo Mozzarella. The smell was so good I had to have a bite! We shared a bottle of local Pinot Nero (noir) and a glass of a Blend of northern Italian wine! GET A TABLE INSIDE!!!! Here is the key issue - Everything about this restaurant was fantastic except the chairs outside were nailed down. Sounds crazy but it is true. The chairs were too close to the table and could not be moved. It makes no sense, but the best meal in the world is made average when it is impossible to be comfortable. It does not matter if you are tall, short, thin or not as thin (and we had one of each) we all need to adjust the chair just a bit when sitting at the table. Had we sat inside, it would have been our best meal in Rome. Phenomenal prawns, mushrooms, duck, it was all worthy of involuntary "mmmmm's" So go to Life, but if offered a seat outside, say no thanks and either wait for inside or go get a pizza. read more

We chose Life because they had a tasting menu. We ended up getting it with wine, and it was perfect. The food was amazing, and the wine was paired wonderfully. The thing I really loved about this place was that the staff wasn't jumping down your throat. They allowed you to take your time.
