Got a bday gift and went in here to see if I can get a refund or store credit. First interaction was a young heavier set Latin kid who looked me up and down.. Ok maybe you had a rough day.. And then politely ask for exchange and he comes off with the firm, no nonsense knowledge of Lids (plenty of attitude) and I had to call him out after he ate his own words about an exchange policy saying that I can exchange for another item only. I had to clarify with him and he said that its equal or lesser value of all items in the store later and if I didn't like what I saw, there was stonestown. Wtffff??? Lol. I went in on a Tuesday to look for a jersey. I was happy to see they had just ONE left in the size that I needed. I asked them to put it on hold for me as I didnt get paid until Thursday. They asked me for my name, said they would hold it for me, and sent me on my way. Fast forward to Thursday. I walk into lids to get my jersey, and they check the back to see if it is there. They come back a minute later telling me that it isn't there and that they only put items on hold for 24 hours, despite never mentioning this before. They should DEFINITELY tell you that your item will be gone if you dont pick it up the next day. When this location opened over a year ago across from footlocker, the customer service was great. They answered any questions I had about an online order I made and making an exchange for a different size. No problem with making any exchange and the salesmen were great. Fast forward to today and this place is subpar at best. They lack in sizing for apparel and the merchandise is very selective. Almost everything in the store from jerseys to shirts were a large. I'm hoping its a sale I missed or something but they should have some back stock. Anyway, I found 2 t shirts that were $25 each. There was a promo on bogo 50 off on warriors gear. Other shirts that looked identical were $28. When the salesman rang me up, it rang up as $28 each. I asked if they were $25 as listed on the tag and he said no, they're mislabeled. No offer to sell at the price that is on the tag. He waited for me annoyed as I made a decision. I wasn't making the decision off of saving $6. I was making a decision as to why he wouldn't automatically change the price to what the tag read as. I manage a retail warehouse. If something is mislabeled and the customer sees it, that's what it will be sold as. After little to no thought, I'll be returning the merchandise. I took it back & spoke to the "Assistant Manager" who didn't even look like she was old enough to purchase alcohol(age 21). She said because it was bought "so long ago"(again, LESS than a year), she couldn't help me. So I walked over to a guy buying hats & told him my story, but he purchased the hats anyway. I told the "Asst Mgr" that I would never buy anything from there again & would advise anyone who asks, to NOT purchase ANYTHING from Lids, at least this store anyway. Only give it a one star just because of this young lady that ACTUALLY helped me. Went into lids yesterday and decided to get a last name stitched into the hat. Ethan helped me at first he was so rude and not helpful at all. 1st he never showed me how the font would look like in the screen they have (which I heard that's what they usually do), he showed me after the whole process was done. 2nd he asked me if I wanted to receive 20% off my purchase but never said it would be a 5.00 fee 3. After seeing how the font looked on the hat he saw how I wasn't pleased at all and just walked away, which is very rude! This young lady was so nice enough to say they could unstitch it and do a different font which I really appreciated. Went back today to pick up the hat and this Ethan guy was so rude when I asked him about speaking to a manger, apparently he was the manger which I had no clue because I spoke to the assistant manger in the morning and she never mentioned him being a manger. Just bought a hat and came in to have it embroidered. My hat still had tags and everything because I JUST BOUGHT IT. This young kid was so eager to stitch my hat and I was excited to have a personalized hat. When I picked it up 15 mins later, the rim of my hat was stitched shut so I couldnt open it all the way. The letters also started straight and came up diagonally towards the end!!!! I paid $30 for a new exclusive pride edition hat and paid $14 to get it personalized just for me to want burn it in front of the kid after to show him how upset I am. I am furious!! The manger Gabriel is a great guy and always makes sure to give the best service possible. They have a nice variety of GS Warrior and SF Giants and 49ers gear and hats. There are plenty of other locations I would rather go to than this one. This one is pretty small but does have a good collection of clothing. The past couple times I went I did not have good experiences. My boyfriend and I both buy hats quite frequently, and have a lids card. I had an issue the last time with the girl not taking off the alarm tag. This most recent time, we were going to buy a Giants jersey, which was clearly labeled $90, but the girl at the register insisted that it was either $100 for jerseys without the name or $120 with jerseys that have the name. I asked if I could speak to a manager, because it was then obviously mislabeled.The girl insisted that in the system it would ring up 100 or 120, which she repeated multiple times, and there was nothing she could do about it after which telling us that she was the manager. I get it... you know what the policy is. But there should be some type of understanding because YOUR company mispriced an item. (I didn't climb up on a ladder and stick a wrongly priced label, you guys did). I hope she learns to get off her high horse, and learn about customer service. read more

We were told that they will have the shipment of the championship hat by 4pm today...so people started to line up as early as 1:30 and my husband happened to be 2nd in line...at 3:15, they announced that they need to get out of the line coz the truck is coming late, not until 7pm. So people started getting angry coz the manager, by the name of Daniel, didn't want to give out claim tickets for those who waited patiently for more than 2 hours!...then Daniel started hiding in the store, didn't care about people's time, denying that it was not his fault if the truck was late!...at least give a claim ticket to those who stood there for 2 hours to make it fair, but he didn't care! Went in to return item bought online and the girl who attempted to help couldn't figure out how to credit my item because I had a discounted price on jacket which was selling at store at full price. She even called her manager to help but still couldn't figure it out. She was telling me she couldn't understand why credit for tax was not coming up correctly. I tried to explain it was because I was only returning 1 of the 2 items so tax to be credited will only be for item returned!! Then she said I won't be able to return and should return at another lid store location...wtf?? I told her to call back manager and had nerve to tell me she's on break when she just hung up the phone with her!! Then the other sales person Jade came and said well we don't want to under credit or over credit you? I told him the register is ringing up credit correctly!! Exactly what invoice amount was for!! He says we won't do transaction for fear I would be over or under credited and don't want to be fired!! Well my opinion you should get some serious sales training!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE GO TO SPORTS CITY , FOOT LOCKER , FIRST STeP or SHOE PALACE........I bought a jersey there on 2/20 three weeks later I wear it for the first time and it got a little dirty. So I washed according to the manufactures instructions and the emblem on the front of the jersey was damaged after pulling it out of the wash. I went back to Lids expecting them to exchange it or refund me. I didn't have my receipt but they should be able to research my receipt since I paid with my card and used my Lids card which has gold status since I buy so much from them. The manager Tim said that wasn't possible and made me feel like I bought the jersey elsewhere and I was trying to get over. He then said he had to call his District Manager to get authorization , seriously what kind of manager could he be. The customer may not always be right but at least offer some kind of resolution. He took my info and said he'd call me back to tell me what his DM said but he didn't know when that would be because the DM is so busy and doesn't call back. I came to this store a day or two before Christmas looking for some last minute gifts. The first time I went in the store I was approached by two employees at two different times. They were very nice and asked if they could help me find anything. After looking in other stores, I eventually came back to Lids to buy something I saw earlier. It was gone, so I looked around again and the employees from before (as well as other employees) offered to help me again, and this time I took their advice. By the time I had left the store I had talked to just about every employee that was working there during that shift and they were all very nice and helpful, plus they helped me find something for my stepdad that I originally wouldn't have bought without their assistance. I wish I knew their names or remembered exactly when I had gone so that those employees could hopefully get the recognition they deserved. This is the first time that I have had such a pleasant shopping experience that I have felt the need to leave a yelp review, but the group that day was so great that I needed to say something.
