It's seems like in 2025 everybody is preparing for the big sports events which will hit the San Francisco Bay Area in 2026. It seems Santa Clara will be location for Super Bowl 60 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup games. San Francisco will participate in name only . San Francisco will have events and parties around these events but will not be the venue for the big games. Although the NFL season is not over and the Superbowl teams are unknown ( Let's go Niners) but the FiFA World Cup 2026 tournament countries playing at Levi's Stadium are known such as Qatar and Switzerland ( fits well for the Silicon Valley tech and finance world). There is a place to get sports gear for both events and also for other sport seasons and it's Lids at Pier 39. What would make a better Holiday gift for a family member or a friend than gear of their favorite sports team. Inside Lids you will find lots basketball, baseball, football, and soccer jerseys from all around the leagues. You will find home teams like the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco Forty Niners, and Golden State Warriors gear. Hats off to Lids for offering more hats in 2025 and even more for the 2026 Super Bowl and World Cup. This place is not your average Lids. The selection was massive compared to other locations I've visited. If your like me and enjoy picking up some team gear whenever you visit a new town, this is the place for you. Staff was also incredibly helpful...all and all it was a great experience. read more

I love this place but whether you like it or not depends on if you come home with something or nothing. My first time going to this location was spring of last year and I managed to find a Derrick Henry jersey on clearance. When I went there for the second time on 7/5/25, there wasn't anything interesting in the clearance. I do like how it's two stories though. read more

Two of the employees were unbelievably rude to me. I asked where the women's section was (jerseys/shirts), and they just pointed towards this small section and said "that's it". I also asked if the had fitting rooms and they horrible reply was "hey lady, we don't do that". Things just went down hill. Every time I asked for help, or if they have a certain size, it was just an ongoing rolling of the eyes or they would just walk away. The lady at the front counter wasn't any better. I asked for a paper receipt because I don't like giving out my personal email, but apparently they don't provide paper receipts either. A few fam came through as part of a tour (for some who haven't been to this part of San Francisco) and we all collectively agreed to come through Pier 39. The other goal was to come to Lids because we were catching a Niner game the next day and agreed we might want to update all our gear. I was excited. I was in the market for three: one black, one red, one white (Montana, Garoppolo, Kittle) in any which combined way. I took my time to cruise through the area where all the jerseys were. I even spotted a Cowboys jersey I was interested in for another cousin who has been asking for one. Could I possibly end up taking 4 jerseys home? Cousins got this really nice lady helping them. She had her hands full helping them so I didn't want to make it more complicated for her. She asked a colleague to help me (since she was already in the middle of helping my peeps.) I asked to take a look at a Montana (hanging up top) and he said he only has it in a 2XL. I thought, "Okay, not for me, but I could get it for someone else..." Since it's hard to really get an idea from up where it was hanging, I asked if I could "see SEE" it, like bring it down so I can see it, feel the threads a bit. He left it up there and stretched it out instead. Okay...? Then I asked to see another (I couldn't remember which one it was now) but it was as if I was no longer there as he got busy all of a sudden conversing with a family who might be a potential big sale. When I tried to get his attention again, I was completely ignored. It may be because I didn't dress the part of someone who could afford 4 jerseys. Then the desire just died and I didn't want anything from this store no more. I expressed this to my cousins and the lady helping them was apologetic. She offered to help, but the interest was just dead at that point. I was hoping to bring home and wear new gear at the game, but I old gear did the job, so... So, yeah. This visit left a bad taste. This is the biggest and best Lids store I have ever been in!! Most Lids stores are primarily hats with a modest selection of sports wear. This Lids store is 2 floors. I walked in the first floor and it looked like a typical Lids, mostly hats and pretty small. But when I went upstairs?? Wow!! Huge selection of jerseys, football, basketball, baseball, and college. Also a selection of old school jerseys as well as current players. Also plenty of T-Shirts of all manner along with lots of hats and various sports memorabilia. I could have easily went crazy in here and just started buying stuff on impulse, and I almost did. If your a sports fan, a real fan, then you will love this place!!! read more

This is the Pier 39 location. They were having a sale that day, buy 1 get 2nd half off of the lowest price. We bought a football hat and a football t-shirt; not gonna say which team lol. They have the custom embroidery inside the store as well, so we did customize the hat. My husband got his name on one side and the signature of one of the players on another side. You can also get the lettering in any style font you like, we got the varsity lettering for my husband's name. He never heard of this store until I brought him in. He was so happy and pleased with his items. The only thing that was weird was the wait for the customizing, we waited on the benches outside, but we were in line before a few people that got their stuff ordered after us and they got their finished order before us; which is why we came back inside the store to check if our order was ready but they told us 30 more minutes, It seemed like the guy was mixing up orders, don't know if it was purposely, didn't make any sense. read more

My son was at this store over the weekend. He was visiting from Los Angeles and attempted to purchase a Jersey. The store says the transaction was voided however on my end the transaction was completed. We left the store out of $142 and no merchandise. After filing a claim I was unable to get my money back as they show the transaction was completed and have instructed me to take up the issue with the store. Worse experience ever. The store will not issue a store credit, refund, or any type of compensation for this nightmare. read more

Nice well-placed lids store. Prices are the same as at the mall, but the place is great for a tourist to get a San Francisco centric hat.

So the manager Thomas. Was rude. I waited in line for about 20 minutes for a hat that I chose, and there was an embroidery already made. which I was not aware of. There was a price 25 on it and the price tag was old I would post the picture but I won't. When I when to pay the guy told me it was 76 and I was shocked. Someone for sure return the hat did not like the embroidery and I had to pay full price. Hell no !!! Clearly someone did not do a good job. But that was the only 7 3/8 hat for me. Manager Thomas walked and didn't say a thing and said full price without even looking at the hat or saying anything to me. He was rude. read more

I have been to this location twice, months apart, and my experience both times has been pretty much the same. The selection at this location is great but the staff is not. Everyone moves at a snails pace and they really need an actual POS system instead of trying to do everything on phones. I am from out of state and had to approve the credit card transaction which I did immediately but the phone they were using to check me out froze. They then had to try another phone and it did the same thing. Needless to say the people behind me were getting frustrated that it was taking so long. They finally asked additional workers to check the others out. Also, one of the items purchased was a hat that had embroidery. This was not an item that we asked to have embroidered. It was already that way and there was more than one on display as soon as we walked into the store. It wasn't until we arrived back to our hotel that I looked at the receipt and saw that they charged us an additional $75 for all of the embroidery on the hat as if we ordered it to be custom made. I never write reviews. Nor do I complain. However this was one of my worst experiences in life. Do not support this store. We took our nephew to his 1st 49ers game on Thursday night. Friday we took him to this location to purchase a Christian McCaffrey Jersey. After standing in line we get to the register. Nephew pays via cash app and the use some stupid device to tap pay. He pays. Money comes out of his account. Low and behold the store has they don't have a history of the transaction and wouldn't give him his money back or give him the Jersey. They called security on us. Of course we are African American. After going back and forth with managers Tori and Angel they call the district manager. He refuses to help. He said the transaction will fall off over night . Being funny he says if it doesn't come back tomorrow and I'll give you guys the Jersey. We'll it didn't fall off. So we drove an hour back from Santa clara to go pick up his Jersey. Angel was there. He called his district manager who lied and said he never said that. I asked them to call Tori to confirm what was told to us. She confirmed that he indeed did tell us he would give us the Jersey but he's over her and she could not help us. We showed them the transaction on the phone that was not pending but a complete purchase Had cash app speak to Tori to confirm that the store took the money . Still they could not help. Whilst queuing the (very tall) Manager came over and shouted rudely at a foreign customer who was trying to get a top down which he couldn't reach. He said that he should have asked for assistance but there was no-one around to help. The customer also didn't speak English and I felt so sorry for him being publicly ridiculed like this in front of the whole line. I discovered that the line was so long and slow because they require each customer to input personal details for each purchase which was infuriating. The customer that he shouted at was part of a group that bought a huge amount of items. Such a shame that he was bullied like this. read more
