No matter the occasion this place has a bit of everything whether you are having a bad hair day or having a theme party you can always go to Krazy Kaps and change your image. My 6 years old son went on a field trip to Pier 39 today with his summer day camp class. After lunch, his teachers show them around the area and went shopping at Shirtque and Kraft Kaps. My son bought a toy ( ZURU 5 surprise mini brands!) $10.99 + 2.5% surcharge + tax and came up with $12.23. He came home with the toy and inside the bag was just one tiny toy (size of a quarter). We thought a price like that plus what it stated on the cover, we thought it would come with 5 mini toys. Pay attention that they added 2.5% surcharge fee before tax to help fund healthcare for their employees!!! read more

This place has been a Pier 39 staple since I was a kid. It's a great place to get souvenirs and cool hats. I have noticed over the years though and especially this last time that I went, where are all the crazy caps?? Back in the day, there was an abundance of cooky hats like robot heads, dragon heads, Mohawks, horns, etc. Now, with the exception of a couple unique hats, it's really become just a regular hat store for the third of the store that is actually hats. The rest of it is like all the other souvenir stores. I was a little disappointed because they seemed to have lost the meaning in it's name, Krazy Kaps. I don't know. Maybe it's a seasonal thing and they bring out the cooler stuff during certain parts of the year or when certain movies come out, but I was kinda bummed. They have other appareal and gifts too but, their main attraction is hats, of course. Their hats range from novelty (animals or cool snowboarding caps) to useful (beach and rain gear). We had a lot of fun here. There were some really fun and funny hats that we played with. But got serious and found my fiancé a really nice fedora. I was standing outside thinking WHAT?!?!? Krazy Kaps?!?!?! What's that????? Then I realized, "OHHH CRAZY CAPS!!!!!" Yes I am a little slow. Caps and hats were on right side, and left side souvenirs (SF apparel). 3 pairs of sunglasses for $12, I couldn't find a single one that I either liked or suited my face. I saw a cool hamburger hat, and many of these hats I've seen at Disneyland or other places. I used to like this place a lot, fun trying on different hats and joking with friends and what not..but now...man o man this place is like a pig sty..hats are on the floor and stepped on. Dirty and not even safe for wearing.. Im giving this place five stars for there customer service. Besides looking endlessly for the sweater i wanted my size in the back, i left my purse there on accident. anyone could have taken it specially in this city, however, a young male employee saw it and placed it in a safe place until i called and asked if it was there, they then asked me some detailed questions about what was in my purse for security reasons which i appreciated and i was able to go pick it up. im glad there is still some honest people out there. nothing was missing from my purse. im happy to give them an awesome review. as far as what they have to offer, its a pretty big shop located in the rear end of the pier, loaded with all sorts of stuff. my husband got a beanie, some souvenirs, and i got a sweater. they have huge selections and really cool stuff! Prices may be a little high for some of the items, but face it: it's a Pier 39 shop for tourists. But notwithstanding, one finds all sorts of goodies in here! There is Harry Potter paraphernalia for all 4 houses, wigs, Sesame Street hats & beanies, Alcatraz prison outfits, t shirts, Ninja Turtle head wear, etc... I love it! If it wasn't for the fact that I have a fabulous time trying on all these caps in here.... the store is so-so. They definitely have a very wide selection of styles and the prices are pretty good. You are not coming here for a quality hat though. So, the good news is that you have all sorts to choose from, AND you can try on all these crazy hats that make you want to take lame pictures to show your friends? I dunno, but guilty as charged. This is a pretty cool little shop, some things were pretty inexpensive, others were not. They have some funny and cute face masks, with Marvel characters on them, and some unusual hats as well. They also had your standard San Fransisco souvenirs there, trolley stuff, and Alcatraz stuff (that was less expensive than on the island.) good place to look around, there is quite a bit of everything here. read more

It's always cool to bring your friends and pose for photos with the many crazy ass hats they have. I remember going here and having lot of fun. Though it was a bit pricey, I bought may all-time favorite hat here: an angora/wool blend black newsie cap with snap on the brim to wear up or down. It went with everything and was worn virtually every day during the winter. sadly, it was lost in my move from The City... so I will have to make the trip back to replace it-- worth it! read more

This store has a variety of options. I came in looking for a gift and there are a lot of good things. I liked the selection and space of the store more than some others around the area. I would give it a 3.5-4, if it weren't for the fact that the gift I got (a porcelain piggy bank for myself and my sister) has tags on them which I couldn't remove without leaving part of the tag on there. So now I have to gently scrape it off. It's ridiculous that stores put the price tags on products in which they won't smoothly get off. Why would I want part of a tag to be stuck on my product? Especially for gifts. read more

Selection of hats is okay - although rather messy. Went last night, the website said they close at 8:30pm. We took a cab and got there at 5:50, within 5 minutes this rude little lady was telling us they were closing. She completely rushed us and followed us around the store. this store has a wide selection of hats, from fedoras to straw, to beanies, to flexfit baseball caps, to berets, to jester hats, and those trendy mao zedong military hats. the only downside is that this place is crowded with tourists, being located in the middle of pier 39. this is my alternate hat stop next to the berkeley hat co. on telegraph in berkeley. both carry elope baseball knit caps, my favorite knitted headwear of all time. prices are very decent. the workers, you can tell they've had it up to here because of how busy the store can get. anyway...this is the other perfect hat stop if you're planning a "silly hats only" party, too. read more
