We had just come from a disappointing Lafayette, which was sold out of most popular items by 8:45 am. And then we found Librae about a block away! Librae's vibe is friendly and bustling! The locals know this is the place to be and we even got into two different conversations w/ strangers about food recommendations as everything looked delicious! We had the ginger brioche bun, a pistachio croissant and some cardamom coffee. I'm not a big pistachio fan, but that croissant was so buttery and rich. It made me wish we had bought another! We were able to get one of the last croissants at Lafayette and it was pistachio too. So head to head, both were good, but I thought the librae one tasted better as it was fresher and had this amazing crust on top. My sisters loved it too. The ginger brioche had real ginger in it and you could taste the flavor in every bite but it wasn't overpowering. I thought the cardamom latte would be my favorite thing. It was ok, but the cardamom powder settled at the bottom and so the last few sips were kinda chalky. Overall, go to Librae for some great food and baked items with a friendly upbeat vibe! read more

Yet another gentrifying coffee shop in the East Village with vague "ethnic" claims but exclusively white baristas who arecso patronizing (and Latino workers in the back of course). The overpriced tiny drinks could be served in thimbles. And heaven help you if you ask the baristas for a better drink: you're treated like dirt. I gave them a few chances chances but never returning again after the last weekend's experience. read more

This spot has amazing baked goods and lattes. I went in the afternoon so there weren't as many options left to try. However, every item I did try was amazing! The pistachio rose croissant had the perfect balance of crisp, flakey, and flavor. The sweetness was just right. The dill and feta scone was almost like a flakey biscuit with layers of flavor. I think it would be good paired with a soup or over medium egg. The tahini date latte was delicious! Perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness. Everything I had here was so delicious!! The staff is warm, inviting and helpful too :) read more

The Pistachio Rose Croissant is SO good! Definitely my all time favorite! It has just the right amount of crispness on the outside and soft inside filling. Love the combination of rose and pistachio! read more

On my hunt for the best croissant in NYC and Librae is in Top 3. It is very airy and FILLED with pistachio paste inside that could knock you out in a sugar coma for the rest of the afternoon but it's so worth it (unless you need to get actual work done). The rose flavor came through strongly but it was a nice floral taste and aroma add to the seemingly basic pistachio croissants nowadays popping up around the city. Great location by Astor Place and will definitely be returning. Might pick this as my next neighborhood bakery, after La Cabra. The server was also very nice. read more

Librae has really high quality bakes! Their stuff isn't cheap, but it is absolutely delicious, and their space is beautiful. I tried their espresso pain au chocolat, fruit danish, and Jerusalem bagel, and all were outstanding. I can't stop thinking about the bagel, because it was just amazing, and it didn't leave me feeling heavy like typical nyc ones. read more

The pistachio croissant really does live up to the hype. It's super buttery and flakey, and the filling is lovely. It's huge and pretty sweet so I recommend splitting it with a friend especially if this is just one stop on a bakery crawl like it was for me :) read more

Phenomenal bakery. I'm not even a fan of pistachio but their pistachio-rose croissant is simply *chef's kiss*. Cafe gets extremely crowded on weekends so would not bet on a table; however, you're likely to get one on the weekdays. Also a fan of their zaatar morning bun (wonderfully flaky, though not huge on flavor) read more

Saw the line and got curious! The rose croissant was SOOO GOOD! Couldn't resist throwing in a pretzel and lemon curd babka at the last minute. Worth the wait! read more

Every pastry I have had from here has been delicious however the ordering experience is quite stressful and very disorganized. The last time we came in we ordered 7 items and found out after we left the store that 3 were missing from our bags. read more

Very delicious food but too crowded and overpriced as many of the places in New York. The pear almond toffee scone was abaolutely amazing!

This Lebanese gal was excited to try a bakery with middle eastern roots. They offer a lovely selection of goodies; we tried the babka and chai shortbread. Both were stellar. The babka was full of delicious flavors and doughy goodness. The shortbread fabulously crumbled/melted in your mouth. We came in the late afternoon, but want to come back earlier in the morning to get in on their croissant and morning buns (with za'atar and labneh!) selections. Welcome to town, Librae Bakery! read more

The hype is real. You walk into a space filled with the most wonderful aroma - butter, sugar, zaatar, spice and everything nice. We tried a few things and everything was stellar. Would highly recommend. read more

The atmosphere is really aesthetic. It's such a cute place to come to work or study. The staff are really nice and friendly as well. When I stopped by here around 9am, the line was already out the door. I've heard this place could get really packed. I've heard that they were known for their rosé pistachio croissant, which is what I obviously came here for. However, I wasn't a big fan of it. The croissant was a bit hard and dry. I felt like I couldn't taste the pistachio much, it was more on the lemon flavor side. My husband got the banana pudding muffin and he thought it was phenomenal. read more

Love Librae!!! Get the pistachio rose croissant... if you can. They sell out fast! 10 out of 10n

Really really really good stuff here... sampled quite a few things when we came, including the Israeli bagel with salmon, the mango sticky bun, the focaccia with asparagus, all of which were delightful! Definitely recommend trying some sweet and some savory to get the full breadth of what they are capable of here at Librae. read more

The best pistachio croissant I've ever had. The lattes were good too. I also got this seasonal item that was some sort of pastry with tomato and feta. SO good. read more

Love almost everything I've tried here. Standouts include the pistachio croissant, sticky bun, the cheddar scallion roll and the zatar labneh bun. Other offerings such as the Jerusalem bagel and the sesame shortbread black and white cookie are well executed but a little forgettable. Not a fan of their drinks - the hot chocolate was almost Nestle / Swiss Miss like, which is not to my taste. read more

the pumpkin spice sticky bun fell short of my expectations, i loved the rose pistachio croissant tho! highly recommended for a reason and loved how flaky and moist the pastry was. i didn't like the sticky bun as much for me! read more

Walk by the line all the time and finally succumbed. It moved fast and I only waited like 10 minutes. It was 2:30 on a Saturday so there wasn't much selection left. I tried the Fig Scone and while the flavors were complex it was overdone and dry. The Pistachio Rose croissant lived up to the hype. Lots of pistachios, sweet, warm and flakey. Delish! read more

Pistachio croissant. Wow! Their pastries are a form of art. They are made with such love and care. Family owned businesses have a different level of love and care. Yummy! read more

Love love LOVE Librae. Love it so much that I trek 4 Avenue blocks on weekend mornings to make sure I get my treats before they sell out. My favorites are their za'atar bun (croissant? I forget), loomi babka, any of their fabulous scones and/or seasonal danishes. Service is efficient and pleasant. The ambiance inside is very warm and inviting but I prefer to sit outside if the weather is nice. read more

Ruuuuuuuuuude as f***!!!!!!!!! $30 for 2 pastries and a small coffee- which she didn't even make correctly.. the attitude and entitlement was unreal... super busy for a Friday morning at 8 am... will NOT be going back. read more

This cafe is to die for. The food is so good and fresh, and the coffee was good, although a little small. It does get crowded inside, so be prepared to not find seating, but it is still definitely worth it. The Jerusalem bagel was so perfectly crisp yet fluffy, and the labneh tasted like a perfect mix of cream cheese and yogurt. The croissant sando was also very good. Perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon, safe to say I will be back! read more

Don't underestimate the classic butter croissant. One of the best croissants I've had. Period. So extremely buttery and indulgent. Almost had to get another one for the road. We also had the lumee babka made with black lime and lemon curd. It was... beautiful. Not overly sweet, the perfect hint of lemon. The bread itself had a caramelized outside with a doughy center. I also had an almond milk latte which was good, it's hard to focus on the coffee when the pastries steal the show. read more

I ordered the malted hot chocolate. I was told there would be a 10-min wait. It ended up being 25 minutes. It was ok but not worth the wait. The downside of them asking for a tip right when you pay is that it doesn't incentivize them to actually provide a good service. I regret tipping and would not have done it if I had known that the service was abysmal. Ambiance was busy--I was always in somebody's way while waiting to be served. Also got a chocolate chip cookie and a ginger molasses cookie. Okay but nothing crazy either. read more

Amazing!! Sundays are a bit of a rush and the choices dwindle down a bit after 12.. but everything there is just absolutely incredible! They are always rolling out new trays because there's so many customers in line, so everything is fresh and warm when you get it. The halwa and the pistachio rose croissants were my favorite while the espresso chocolate was a hit with my husband. The staff is so kind and friendly there. Obsessed! Librae has quickly become my bakery with its exceptional pastries, bread, coffee, and beautiful interior. I've been coming regularly since it opened and everything that I've tried has been top notch. My favorites are the focaccia and the chocolate halva croissant. Just incredible. Such variety in savory and sweet pastry! An excellent espresso as well. Maybe my favorite bakery in the city.

My friend and I were so excited to come try this bakery but we were left less than impressed by the experience and baked goods. They do seem to have a lot of stock with the products but everything we ordered was just ok. The espresso in the pain au chocolat was barely noticeable, and the lamination was ok. Not the best croissant I've had. The sticky bun was the best but we didn't finish it either. The focaccia bread was dry. Nothing really screams delicious and I changed my mind to bring extras back for my kids. (To make a second to go order) the space itself was a good size but not too many seats and so many flies. So many. The pastry case doesn't close so all those flies were landing on the food. Which is why I've given 3 and not 4 stars. I work in food service and it's really not a good look for the DOH. The silverware didn't seem clean and though they were on top of bussing and the staff were nice and friendly, the ambiance has an air of uncleanliness. They know they're popular and food is flying off the counter for sale, the flavor profiles are exciting and the bakery space looks amazing. But they could work on the front space and execution. read more

The pastries are not very good -Cherry Feta danish did not live up to its looks. The danish itself is pretty but I could barely appreciate the feta and cherries because of the heavy taste of butter. - Chocolate Espresso Croissant was thrown away after the first bite. I would dare say this is my choice for #1 bakery in Manhattan. Librae is situated in a unassuming space in Cooper Square. There's a decent amount of seating inside and some outdoors as well, but they seem to always have a steady stream of customers so unless you're early, you might consider take out. I am in love with their pistachio rose croissant and the tahini chocolate cookie- I try to grab them every-time I go , however if I'm a little late to the party and they're sold out, you can't go wrong with any of their other options. They have jerusalem bagels ( which I have yet to try) and basque cheesecake, a bread platter and seasonal drinks (my favorite being the matcha strawberry). I make it a point to stop in as often as I can! And you should too. read more

I live near this spot and the buttery scent in the air is always appreciated. Pastries are great. Coffee, not so much. I am a decaf drinker and they do NOT serve decaf coffee. Just beware... hit another spot for coffee before you grab your pastries here. read more

Really great pastry shop. The za'atar bun is a real standout, it is flaky, bright, and delicious. The bread is great too.

Pastries and coffee are good but always superrr long line, never ever table service and people who work there are super rude and blase. They also sell out of pastries too fast and dont replenish. Overrated vibe read more

A bakery with "Middle Eastern roots and Danish technique"!has arrived non East Village. Started by a coffee roaster and bakery from Bahrain, not only one could expect quality coffee beans, but also daily fresh baked fermented sourdough bread and a wide variety of pastries with mixed heritages. Tahini is once again showcased in their tahini rye chocolate chip cookies with a sprinkle of sea salt, a unique black lime (sourced from Bahrain) and lemon curd babka knot and an oblong Jerusalem bagel paired with their housemade labneh. The room is decked in wooden panels, white washed walls and beautiful curated ceramics are used to plate your baked goods. Multiplying the enjoyment level. Bakeries are a dime a dozen, but quality and well thoughts out ones are still a rarity in NYC. read more
