What I really love about Claude is how they source ingredients from local farmers' markets and build their pastries around the seasons. Also good to know their pastries are made with Isigny French butter. No wonder the laminated layers are so flaky, rich, and buttery! Pro tip: go early for the seasonal pastries and sweet corn danish. They were completely sold out when I came after 1PM on the weekend! *Strawberry Danish $8.5 ** New addition to their summer lineup! Flaky, buttery layers filled with creamy custard and sweet-tart compote. Every bite is fruity and sweet, and I love that the glazed pastry stays crunchy. Easily my favorite from this haul. *Sweet Corn Pastry $8.5 The corn is pretty subtle, while I was actually hoping for more corn flavor. The dulce de leche steals the show with its rich, caramel-y sweetness. It's more like a dessert with a hint of savory corn. *Heirloom Tomato Croissant $8.5 While I wouldn't say it's the best heirloom tomato pastry I've ever had, I do love how it's generously topped with shredded aged mimolette for extra savory depth, and the natural tomato flavor really shines through. *Plain Croissant $5.25 * Seriously one of the best plain croissants I've had recently. So simple but so good. I'd happily get this again.

The event was advertised to start at 5:00 PM, but the anniversary cake was still being assembled
    Rainie T.

I came to celebrate Claude's 2nd anniversary and was excited to attend the advertised 5:00 PM event, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The event didn't actually begin until 5:32 PM, and at 5:14 PM the anniversary cake was still being assembled. A bunch of us waited in the heat for about 1.5 hours and more. The biggest disappointment was the communication around the advertised "special gifts, while supplies last." I watched staff assembling gift bags and naturally assumed they were for customers attending the event. After waiting in line for so long, we were told the gifts were only for partners and influencers. To make matters more confusing, one employee said an RSVP was required, even though there was no RSVP link on the Instagram post or website. Another employee gave a different explanation and came across as rude. If the gifts were never intended for the general public, that should have been communicated clearly beforehand. The wording of the post made it seem like attendees would receive them while supplies lasted, which created an expectation that wasn't met. I know many people waited in the long line because of that. I hope future events are better organized and communicate expectations more clearly. Transparency goes a long way in building trust with customers.

Had high hopes for this bakery and tried the seasonal tomatoe croissant. There was only one small slice of tomatoe. For the price, I would choose another bakery.

Wow! Got the sweet corn pastry and was so surprised at how flavourful it was! Loved the corn bits in the cream, the dulce de leche was the perfect combination and the pastry was nice and crispy. So many great options and plenty to choose from at 1pm - didn't have to queue which is a bonus! Will be back!!!

Salted maple latte w whole milk
    Rachel G.

Best salted maple latte I've had! It was absolutely delicious!! Creamy and had the perfect amount of flavor. Not too sweet! They also had cakes that looked amazing and many people came in to order a slice in the few minutes I was there. I sat inside and looked out the window watching people walk by in the west village on rainy day and it was the perfect setup! Highly recommend

    Honeycomb toffee latte

Chocolate coffee cake is so decadent and moist. Honey toffee latte was just the right balance of milk-espresso-burnt honey. A perfect latte.

During my childhood in the 90s, a man actually named Claude owned this bakery. He was a taciturn fellow with knee problems who briefly banned my entire family for reasons unbeknownst to us. After he retired, his protégé Pablo inherited the bakery and mostly maintained the status quo of their baked goods. Their best items were a coffee eclair, a rectangular chocolate mousse cake, and a flimsy but decadent quiche. The new Claude bakery is a bit disingenuous in claiming they've been here since 1982, as little to nothing is maintained from prior ownership. But I sampled a variety of their croissants, including the heirloom tomato variety that surely would have raised Claude's eyebrows. However, they were all quite buttery with good structure and delicious. I was surprised that the tomato was actually my favorite one.

    Cinnamon roll

I stopped by Claude Bakery and the service was ok. Staff didn't seem especially friendly. They were deep in conversation with each other. I ordered the cinnamon roll, which I was excited about since I've tried quite a few around NYC. Unfortunately, it was a bit mid. For a weekend afternoon I expected more fresh. I was crunchy- seemed a day old. The texture and flavor were fine, but it didn't really stand out compared to other cinnamon rolls I've had in the city. Not bad, just not particularly memorable. Space was clean but very small.

So many great bakeries in NYC! Been keeping an eye on Claude via IG ... I ordered a new item they added recently: Elote croissant with sweet corn, cotija cheese, lime was good however the croissant overpowered the elote. Next time I will try one of their sweet pastries or cakes ... maybe the cherry black forest or chocolate cake or blueberry corn or. The bakery is small, but has great seating for its size, including bar stools in the window. Lovely display case, and each item has a description with price. The shop currently sits under scaffolding so I expect it will be much brighter inside once it is removed. A well dressed owner or manager was meeting with someone at a table... he also welcomed in 2 women who I think may have been content creators/ influencers... he offered to pay for their order. I flew under the radar, LOL. $9.25 with tax. 11:30am on Friday in July, no line (a few people inside enjoying their orders). * social media influence: usually I have a good record with food that grabs me, but in the past 2 weeks I should have stuck with items that were already hits, instead of new seasonal menu items... Also, I normally would order a couple of items to get a broader opinion... next time, I hope! Next stop, back to L'Industrie while I am in the neighborhood. Full carb day!

Stopped by in the late afternoon to get a pastry and it didn't disappoint Ended up getting the strawberry pastry and they had lots of other fruit pastry options It was hard to decide on just one to order but I would definitely go back to try other options in the future It was also nice being able to take it to a nearby park to sit and enjoy it outside. Store is located in a great area

    Chocolate cake

Chocolate was good, not fantastic. Frosting was very sweet. Cake was moist and dense, it took about 3 bites to really start enjoying it.

Went to get the free tiramisu and it was so good!! Worth waiting in line for 30 mins for it!

A Slice of Manhattan Blackout Cake
    Sein S.

After going to Claud in the East Village for their well known chocolate cake, we had to compare it to Claude bakery's in the West Village. It's a cute spot with counter service and little bistro tables to snack on. My friend and I shared the blackout cake and the red velvet. The chocolate was definitely the better of the two with its puddling like chocolate buttercream and fun sprinkles. The red velvet texture honestly felt like it was over-mixed before baking. But I can't turn down cream cheese frosting. We didn't try any of their other pastries. Overall, fine if you're craving cake but I prefer a few different bakeries in the area.

It was delivered to me in midtown exactly as instructed but I then had to carry it to Westchester by train. I was very nervous but got it there still looking beautiful. It was a big hit and a central point in photos we took to send to other friends and family. Once we cut into it, it tasted just as good as it looked! Mom loved it, which was most important. I was initially lured in by the good Yelp reviews. I liked that I could do everything online, I had a particular vision for what I wanted my birthday cake to look like and they communicated with me via email that could make my vision come true. I had a birthday celebration at a restaurant, which I asked The Evercake to have delivered directly to the restaurant. The delivery was smooth and the restaurant had the cake before I even got there. The cake was very cute and did look like what I had pictured. But...what I majorly disliked was the actual taste of the cake and being misled about what the contents of the cake would be. I selected the strawberry shortcake option for my cake and what I got was not what I thought it would be. I think it's quite normal for a strawberry shortcake to have like...real strawberries in between the layers. My cake didn't really have that, and if it did it was hidden in all the strawberry jam that there instead. I was not a fan of the cake texture too and the cream outside of the cake. Overall I felt so sad that I was feeding this to my friends and I told them that they didn't have to finish it because I wasn't going to either. So embarrassing :( Would you believe that this flop of a cake was nearly $200? And that's after the 10% coupon. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it wasn't completely bad, but the cake not tasting good was the biggest thing for me. I would have preferred it the other way around at least, like if the service was so bad but the cake tasted amazing, but unfortunately that was not the case for me. After digging through the reviews some more, I found that this happened to another customer as well. I wish I had seen their review before ordering a "strawberry" shortcake from here lol dang

11/10 -- The only custom cake vendor I'll ever use!…read more I have exclusively used Hudson Cakery for all of my custom cake needs since 2022, when I first worked with Jennifer and her team for my baby shower cake and cake pops. Four years and MANY celebrations later, they have become my go-to for every special occasion. We've now used Hudson Cakery for my twins' first, second, and third birthdays, as well as my husband's 40th birthday -- and I genuinely cannot imagine using anyone else! My experience with Jennifer and her team has been nothing short of amazing every single time. Communication is seamless, Jennifer is incredibly responsive and thorough, and she is always so helpful when I have questions or need guidance bringing an idea to life. The cake designs are absolutely unmatched. I typically share reference photos and a general creative vision, and Jennifer & her team always nail every detail and exceed my expectations. Of course, the cakes are also delicious. They offer such a great variety of cake flavors, fillings, and icings, and everything we've ordered has been a hit with both kids and adults. It's rare to find a bakery that delivers on both the artistry AND the taste, but Hudson Cakery truly does both. At this point, Hudson Cakery is a part of all of our biggest celebrations, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I would wholeheartedly recommend Jennifer and her team to anyone looking for a custom cake that is beautiful, unique, and absolutely delicious.
