Popped in for a dessert and got a pumpkin sticky bun which was great fresh! We were tempted by some of their bakery themed apparel (including a corduroy cap with a stick of butter lol) and will come back to try their croissants next time. read more

Came here for a morning breakfast and coffee. We had their babka and spinach artichoke. Their latte was small but delicious and was buzzing with people! Their seating is sparse so prepare to stand or just take your treats to go. I love that they have an open window to see their bakers working in the back on pastries. Planning to return to try their sourdough! read more

I went in the day before Thanksgiving around 10:00am and there was a little bit of a line but nothing too discouraging and it did move pretty quickly. This was my 3rd visit on this day. They had minimal options because they were reserving the kitchen for most of their pies but that wasnt a problem for me. I was unaware that they made pies for special occasions but there were quite a few people coming in to pick them up so I think I will be looking into ordering a pie for Christmas. I got a plain croissant for my boyfriend and was able to snag a rose pistachio croissant that had just come out of the oven. My boyfriend loves the plain croissants and says that the cappuccino is the best there although on this occasion he said it wasn't as good. As for myself, I was completely blown away by this steaming hot pistachio croissant. The flakiness was outstanding, the warmth was so comforting, and the flavor was just to die for. I could actually only eat about half of it as it is pretty hearty but stuffed it in my bag and forgot about it for two days and pulled it out and reheated it again and it was still freaking good! I hate to waste food and I felt like I had to see for myself how it stood up. I didn't give five stars because it's a little chaotic once people place their orders and have to wait for their coffees. There's not a good place to stand and you feel like you're in the way no matter where you are especially on this day because they were using some of the "extra" space for a pie table. But it's like this without that space being taken. The customer service can definitely vary as I placed two separate orders in this one visit and one person was nice and the other was just "over it" maybe. I'll be back for that pistachio croissant regardless! read more

Unique, delicious, consistent. I'm averse to lines, but I avoid weekends and try to arrive early.

One of my favorite bakers in the Noho area! Cannot go wrong with the croissants here!! I have yet to try the pistachio croissant but I have heard many raving reviews on it! read more

Very good. Laminated pastries had the most wonderful, airy, buttery, light texture and the flavors were on point for the espresso pain au chocolat and the za'atar morning bun. Cookies were salty and nutty with little pools of gooey chocolate, but the tahini did make them too soft and cakey for my liking. Still excellent top to bottom. read more

My friend was staying next door at The Standard hotel so we luckily stumbled upon this gem. She had the cheese pretzel and I had the cheese, garlic, and chive croissant. I normally don't seek out pastry spots because they usually are nothing special aka chocolate croissant here, peanut butter cookie there (and how can you mess up tea). However, this was was impressive in terms of taste and I'm sure many would agree since I was there for almost an hour and the line NEVER stopped for one minute. There were endless customers coming in and out and the staff was keeping it moving at a speedy pace. Unfortunately there's pretty limited seating so I would plan for a grab and go unless you get lucky. read more

This place has great ratings and I routinely observe a line out the door so I have to imagine its good most of the time. So I tried it just now and got 4 lemon babkas today at 2pm. All 4 were stale, dry/hard and didn't taste good. It was a part of a bigger batch that looked the same which means a bunch of people bought expensive stale baked goods. For 28 dollars for four pastries, I could have gotten stale pastries at the super store down the block for a couple bucks. Disappointed. Ill give them another try and edit my review, but, at a minimum they have quality control issues. Fix it librae read more

Beyond impressed with this bakery! The service was fast and efficient. The pastries were delicious! 10/10. I got the Halvah Chocolate croissant and cherry scone. Loved this place! We got the rose pistachio croissant, the lumee babka, and the chai shortbread. All were delicious and beautiful even not warmed up. The croissant was truly worth all $8. They have adorable small utensils and overall great vibe. My friend got a latte and I didn't try any but I don't think it was anything special. Kinda funny that such a cute, sort of rustic bakery is next to sleek Cooper Union but it's a lovely little escape. read more

I thought about not writing this review, because I wanted to keep Librae Bakery as my personal secret gem. Unfortunately, the cat's already out of the bag- every time I go there, there are more and more people who've discovered it and are enjoying the awesome baked goodness here, and the line just gets longer. Dammit! Seriously though, Librae is awesome. They have a lot of baked goods that you can't easily find elsewhere in Manhattan bakeries. My personal favorites are the pretzels (both the plain salted and the cheese), which are the tastiest pretzels I've ever had in my life. They're so deliciously bready, chewy, soft, full of that satisfying fresh-baked pretzel flavor. You've got to try them! I've also had their croissants, which are delicious and buttery with perfect layers of lamination that would make Paul Hollywood proud. Their Jerusalem bagel with labneh is also a nice treat, it reminds me of the texture and flavor of a Turkish simit. Next time you're near Noho or the East Village, stop by Librae. You'll be glad you did, trust me. read more

Really wanted to love this place but it just didn't hit the mark. It is a typical instagram-hyped spot. The coffee was good, the pastries were just ok, have had better ones but also had worse. If you're from Europe, you won't be satisfied. For the price you're paying you'd expect something amazing - you're paying for the hype, not quality. I've had much crispier, butterier, flakier croissants all over ny.... On the weekends there's a long line outside and by the time you get in the pastry options can be very limited. The service is great! And deserve 5 starts but since this is an overall review 3 starts it is! read more

All I can say is please open a 100 locations so I can have this every day. Everything in this bakery is amazing. However don't come expecting to sit and eat and relax. This is not the place for that. It's a quick and go please and you'll get lucky if you even get to sit. read more

This is my favorite bakery in all of New York. Everything I've had has been superlative. The sesame halva croissant was insanely delicious, just dancing on the edge of cloying without ever tipping over. Living in California, I think about it all the time. The flourless chocolate cookie is quite possibly the single best chocolately food item I've ever tasted in my life. I visited Librae this week, and they were sadly out of the rose pistachio croissant. On a lark, I went with the loomi babka. Excellent! And contained some kind of curd in the middle that I hadn't been expecting. Who's mad about secret curd? You can't go wrong at this place, it genuinely is "100% that good," to bastardize a Lizzo lyric. Confidently five stars. read more

This place was really poppin on a Saturday morning. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the space itself was large. I had a hard time deciding what to get but ended up with the pistachio rose croissant based on other reviews. I have to say I'm not too impressed. It's as if baklava and a croissant had a baby, it's very syrupy. I couldn't taste rose or pistachio really, I kept on taking bites, hoping that the next bite would have more flavor, but I gave up on it 2/3 of the way through. It's pretty pricey and comes out to almost $9 with tax. Honestly pistachios are expensive, and the price point isn't that outrageous compared to similar pastries. I would say based on the ingredients the price is warranted, but I personally would not spend $9 on a pastry unless it's out of this world- and it wasn't. read more

I can't believe I haven't written about my favorite cafe in the city. I love everything I have had so far. It's my go to place now and I am so fond of their pastries and also just the vibe. Their Jerusalem bagel with labneh is SO good. Also their espresso croissant and rhubarb danish are incredible. I wasn't super happy with the pistachio rose croissant, babka or the asparagus ricotta tart, but they were good and I am so glad I tried. This place is pricey but the stuff is good and worth the price. And their sourdoughs are amazing, the seeded ones and also jalapeño, just so good!! Like the cappuccino, matcha hasn't been consistent, so I am not sure about that. But definitely going back again and again for all the baked goodness they have. read more

I might expect too much because of their viral marketing. I live nearby but already have several French bakery options, so I didn't try them until recently. Their tiny drip coffee is over $4 (usually the size is double at other better coffee shops), and others are also all overpriced. I ordered butter and pistachio croissants, asparagus Danish, and a couple of scones. The flavor is rich and somewhat creative, but it's also not worth the hype, especially if you prefer authentic or local-style French bakery. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, some staff at the counter were playing with their phones-although the bakery is always busy except for late afternoon hours-and not attentive. They didn't know the price of the item I ordered or whether they were served. Please don't be fooled by the line or stylized baked goods when you are in the hood. I can tell you they are not worth your time and money. No matter what, the bakery is Instagramable and perfect for tourists. read more

Librae has incredible pastries, some of the best I have had. I got 3 croissants from them 1. plain croissant: this was given to my by mistake, I normally would not order this. I find plain croissants boring. So I personally would skip this and get a fun croissant which they are known for. 2. chocolate halva croissant: this was so unique and delicious! I've never had a croissant with halva. 3. Halloween special croissant: Oh my god, this was one of the best things I've ever eaten! It was a dark chocolate croissant with an orange cream filling and meringue top. Truly incredible and unique. Hands down this place is special and unique. I highly recommend visiting to try a unique and delicious pastry. read more

Excellent pastries with a Middle Eastern twist! Got a lot of pastries to try in our group. Favorites were the zataar Jerusalem bagel with labne and lumee babka. I really wanted to like this place but I'm so disappointed. I live around the corner and it always smells so good. The guy behind the counter could not have been more rude helping me. Had the halva croissant which weighed quite a bit! It had lots of crispy coconut on the top. The halva filling was nice. I wish they didn't put chocolate filling as I wanted a pure halva pastry. THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. They made a mistake when I ordered iced sea salt mocha (requested whole milk but gave me one with almond milk). They didn't apologize at all for what happened and just tossed over saying nothing once they made a new one. Update: After they saw my bad-rating review, general manager approached and said she wants to fix the problem. But what was more disappointing was she didn't say sorry or apologize genuinely. It was so superficial response worrying this bad review would affect their future revenue. Customers may be smarter than you think. Good luck. read more
