Charming bakery for sure, no seating though! Line wasn't too long early on during weekday morning. The service was very efficient despite a little bit of crowd. I got the baguette and the pain as chocolat. I do wish the baguette wrapper covered a little bit more of the bread because the flour was absolutely getting everywhere during transport, but it smelled so so good. Nice and crusty outside, chewy on the inside. The pain at chocolat was also very good. Super buttery with flaky laminated layers. The quality of the chocolate was nice, didn't feel cheap. I really loved the balance of the laminated dough. Sometimes I feel croissants lean too far into buttery flavor and nothing else, but there was a nice touch of savory bread in this one.
Got lucky and arrived with very little wait on line! It is just a window purchase so you just need to look for the line so ambiance depends on the weather and the mood of those waiting in line. Absolutely my new favorite chocolate chip - "melts in your mouth" - cookie. We also bought a few butter croissants which were absolutely delicious. Items do go fast so getting there early is well worth it. I'm just not one to wait online for more than 10 mins. Yummy stuff though!
Waited in line for around 20-30 min on a Saturday morning. Shared the pistachio rose with a friend. Rose was pronounced and wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be (in a good way). Very buttery and flakey, I am a big fan. No seating at all so most people were eating this on the sidewalk.
The croissant was so flaky and sweet! Very butter forward so it's hard to eat all at once. I thought the rose flavor was subtle but still came through.
I returned for a second time to try the plain Croissant. It was flaky and just a bit buttery. I wish I'd gotten one fresh/hot or taken it home to air fry it; I'm sure it would have been even better. On a Friday afternoon, the storefront was quiet and there wasn't a line. I got my order instantly.
Really excellent pastries here. We got there around 9:30am on a Wednesday, and there was a very small line. The framboise Kouign-amann was by far my favorite, but the rose pistachio croissant was great as well. It's definitely a heavy way to start your day (I'm typing this falling asleep at my desk), but I do understand why this is a well known place. Great experience overall!
This is my go to place for croissants. The location is a to go only, so there won't be any seatings. I really like their stuff. I haven't had any failure on any items, maybe except for the chocolate chip cookie (a bit too salty for my taste). The line isn't too long during the week day and staff are helpful.
I tried the plain croissant. It had nice layers and a good aroma, though I still prefer the texture of the croissants at La Cabra and Breads Story. I'd come back to try some of their other options. The staff was sweet, and since it's just a walk-up window with no indoor seating, it's a nice spot to grab some pastries on the go.
Fantastic bakery on a great street. I came here in the middle of the day on a Wednesday so there was no real crowd. I totally get the hype. The seating area they have upstairs is very cute with the marble tables and hard wood and brick accents. I sat at an adorable table in a corner right next to a window and could have stayed for the entire day. I placed my order around 3pm so they didn't have everything but I wanted the pistachio rose croissant and they did have that. It was over $8 which is definitely expensive for a croissant but as a once in a while treat, it is really enjoyable.
Im afraid the rumors are indeed true. L'Appartement 4F croissants are worth standing in the rain for. That's what me and my family (visiting me from FL) had to do for just a bit. Thank god we got there before the line developed. However, my mom dropped her pistachio croissant and got back in line! My mom is a picky eater and for her to do that was a big deal! The line moves pretty quickly. As a family of 5 we devoured all the options of croissants. The raspberry, pistachio and the regular. They are all filled and gooey, yet flaky on the outside. My fav was the raspberry but I just love raspberry! They are very flat for a croissant but very delicious! Give it a try!

This bakery is for take out only by the window. I arrived there about half hour before it opened and there was about five more people coming to form the line. The croissants are buttery with good amount of filling. I had the pistachio rose and I enjoyed it very much. The pistachio filling isn't very sweet and I didn't notice the rose at all. The tahini chocolate chip cookies are highly recommended as well. Kouign Aman with raspberry is also buttery. The sweetness of the raspberry is a good touch to balance the richness of the pastry
The kouign aman framboise was the best! Definitely could have used more raspberry filling though. Same with the pain au chocolat. It would have been incredible with at least 3 sticks of chocolate, on both sides and the middle. Huge focaccia delicious. The upstairs seating area is very cute! Got a seat by the window, beautiful.

Have since tried more things: + baguette - great + Comte boule - perfect + Le framboise - perfect + Almond and Nutella croissant - still awesome + Pistachio rose croissant - great + 4F petit ecolier cookie - didn't love the cookie part, but the chocolate was amazing still 5 stars!! read more

West Village bakery window, Saturday around 1pm, no line, still had a large selection however they were out of the raspberry croissant I wanted to try... I ordered the chocolate almond croissant instead. I will remember each flakey, buttery, chocolate almond bite! With all of the fabulous carbs popping up in the city, I rarely consider croissants... based on their reviews, I knew a croissant would be my choice and now I want to try them all! $6.50 chocolate almond croissant. read more
Short wait under 10min on a cold Sunday morning outside their West village window. Tried the plain croissant, the pistachio rose croissant, and the raspberry kouign amann. Came out to $20 for 3 pastries. Their plain croissant was spectacular. Would come back again and just get this next time! Would also love to come back and try their cheesy bread or focaccia. The kouign amann is better at Miolin bakery in my opinion. read more
I'm so excited this Brooklyn bakery now has an outpost in the Greenwich/west village area! For croissants, I tried the everything bagel croissant and it was crispy, buttery and flavorful. A nice change of scenery if you're looking for something other than their staple sweet and decadent almond croissants. I also snatched a half sized baguette for the road and it was a pretty decent loaf. A note on the wait: They typically have moderate lines due to the social media hype, but I went mid day( 3pm) and happy to report that there were no lines during off peak times. I don't think the coffee was going to be amazing but I'll try it next time! read more
We stumbled upon this place randomly and decided to get some coffee. It's like a little hole in the wall, they have no seating and it's right on the street. I ordered a cappuccino and it was one of the best I've had! The milk stayed frothy throughout every sip- it was so good! They also have bread and pastry items as well. Vacationing in NY and had to stop by for a visit for some pastries ! Arrived early and line wasn't too long! Purchased couples pastries to try. Both the pistachio and raspberry croissant was a bit too oily lacking the flakiness /chew I was looking for ! Cinnamon bun wasn't too bad but overly sweet generous with the frosting! The KA was probably my fav- simple and laminated ! Overall try it but don't think I'll be back but you will have to try it yourself I don't mind the price being a tad higher, hey we are in NY read more
We heard about this place on Reddit, but the opinions are mixed. Some people say it's really good, some people say it's overhyped, so we came to see for ourselves. TLDR: It's fine. Overhyped. Not worth $7 or the line in my opinion. Note, this review is based on their raspberry Kouign-Amann. I thought the raspberry was too sweet and not enough tart, but maybe that's my preference for non-jammy raspberries. AMBIANCE: It's a line that forms at a window. Came here after hearing so much about it. Luckily the line wasn't too long and it moved at a decent pace. When I got to the counter to see what was available I tried to ask the cashier what the different types of croissants were since it wasn't immediately obvious to me. She replied in a snarky tone, "everything we have available is on the menu today" and pointed at the menu. Unfortunately, I can't read French so I wasn't sure what many of the words on the menu meant (e.g. "aux amandes au framboise") and it didn't seem like she wanted to tell me, so I decided to just order the Pistachio Rose croissant. It was quite flat and not very flaky and crispy for a croissant and had a thick and overly sweet filling. Not quite what I was hoping for, especially at the price point. I wish I had ordered a plain croissant instead. read more
Cute little hole in the wall bakery! I got the raspberry almond croissant and it was sooooooo good. I've never had a croissant like this - usually a chocolate croissant lover. The raspberry jam is more towards the middle/end but it was the perfect amount and it paired so well with the almonds. The almond on top still had a crunch and the layers of the croissant were so buttery and flaky So delicious!!! read more

Raspberry almond croissant was SO good I'd come back for it and to try more pastries. Came on a Monday around 2 and no line. The cold brew was also pretty good. Service really nice they were kind. I want to come back to keep trying things read more
I stopped by here in December with a girlfriend before a day shopping in West Village. We got ham and cheese croissants which were really yummy. There was a short line but the staff was all really nice and helpful, worked very quick too. The coffee was pretty good as well. Over all really nice place and I would stop by again if I was in the area. read more
Yes, yes, yes to their croissants! They didn't have the pistachio one when we went, but the raspberry croissant was amazing. The raspberry jam inside struck the perfect balance of tart and sweet, and the texture was spot-on: crispy and flaky on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. Soooooo delicious. We also tried the pain au chocolat, which had a lovely flavor and that same soft interior. Personally, I prefer when the chocolate is swirled or layered throughout the pastry, rather than just wrapped around one or two chocolate stick. I get that the latter is more traditional (and easier to produce). Still, a solid version overall. Would recommend!! read more
I was brought here because my go to bakery was closed for a TV shoot. It's Saturday morning and I'd like coffee and a hot croissant. I searched on Yelp for the best croissants in NYC and L'Appartement 4F came up in the search. I follow the directions but I don't see the storefront? Closer look, it's a window?? Au contraire, this apartment "window" is the front of a bakery powerhouse. I peek inside and see many bread choices. I order a latte and a pistachio croissant. I would have liked to see more baked choices, a cookie would have been nice but I am happy with my purchase. My order is filled quickly. I move to the pick up window, fix my coffee and walk to my car. The latte? Perfecto. The croissant? It's a sophisticated croissant and baked perfectly. A nice balance of pistachio and delicate buttery exterior. I'm glad things happened the way it did. I loved my visit at 4F, it's a neighborhood gem. read more

Small little window but nice to have a wonderful bakery in nyc. Defs runs out quick was was able ro snag almond chocolate crossing. Really good quality, French style. Defs worth it as good flavoring and quality. Recommend read more
I've been waiting to try this place for so long after hearing that there were lines for their famous raspberry croissant. I thought this was going to be another one of these internet gimmicks but to my surprise this was probably one of the best raspberry croissants I've ever had. I came by at 2PM on a weekday - no line whatsoever, service is quick and the workers are so kind. you need to eat these croissants fresh! They hand it to you warm. read more

I am not usually one to order croissants but I stopped by on a weekday and it is soo worth the hype!! Plus, there was no wait! I only got two bc I figured it eat half and save the rest but ended up eating in one sitting it was so good! I got the chocolate and raspberry. Both were absolutely delicious and crispy and flaky on the outside. I wish the chocolate had a bit more chocolate inside but it was still perfect. I am so glad I tried this place!! read more

Delicious croissants - both the sweet and savory. Best is the pistachio rose, Nutella croissant and the ham and cheese! Note: the chocolate chip cookies are so so.. Can't wait to stop by again! read more
