Li Hing serves fairly good Cantonese style food. However, the service was poor on my last visit to this restaurant. They seem to do more takeout orders than dine-in. Pickup service was extremely slow. I had placed my order at 5:35pm and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived at 6:00pm to find people using their dining tables to wait on their pickup order. I heard a lot of cooking going on in the kitchen, but not a lot of food was flowing out. It was about 6:30pm when I questioned why it was taking an hour and after threatening to cancel my order, it was miraculously ready within 5 minutes. I have a lot of patience, but waiting an excess of 30 minutes over the estimated time is unreasonable. I guess my first clue that there was a problem was that they didn't answer the phone until after a 3rd attempt when I tried to place my order. Thinking they were extremely busy, I noticed they weren't really busy at least to answer the phone while I was sitting there waiting for my order. They just simply let the phone ring. This could have been a way for them to slow down the orders and get the kitchen to catch up. I don't think that is a good strategy to run a successful restaurant. Food: 3/5. Service: 1/5.

We were craving Chinese, and after trying a close by another Chinese place that we didn't really care for, we decided we wanted to try a new place. I drive by Li Hing all the time, and finally decided to check them out. I've definitely been missing out and not really sure why it took me this long. The guy that took our order was very nice and welcoming and got our order done very quickly. Their prices are fair, a little on the high end, but worth every penny. You'll definitely get full. We ordered their Orange Chicken dinner special and and order of their BBQ Pork Ali Mein. The orange chicken was so flavorful and one of the best I've had in a long time. I know orange chicken is not authentic, but that doesn't mean it can't taste good! It was sweet and came with some heat that sneaks up on you and It was served with fried rice which of course made it very filling. The Lo mein was amazing. They give you plenty of meat and the bbq pork was cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be returning.

The food is AMAZING and this is coming from someone who has ate Chinese food all over the place. If you're in the area this the GO TO. Place is ran by an old couple who are always so sweet to me and are happy to serve their costumers. The place is a just so nice to sit down and eat with your homies. And when you get a box of free white rice when you order. All love.

This location appeared as a recommendation here on Yelp. I bookmarked. Truthfully, I have walked past this location several times during my walks around the belmont and central area. At times from the outside it looked closed. But with the recommendation, I did my research. So yesterday, I stopped in. The location is very clean. Friendly staff, greeted when I entered. Currently, they are not offering dine in service, take out only. I ordered from the lunch special. Very well prepared portions. The fact that steamed rice or fried rice options offered. I went with the fried rice and hot and sour soup. The shrimp is a good size. The kung pao shrimp is good and with a perfect amount of spice. I am looking forward to giving the rest of the menu a sample. I am glad I stopped in. Definitely a hidden gem. The prices are decent with perfect portions. The dinner menu is also reasonable, which is served with rice. I will be back soon. If you are in the area, stop in. I do recommend this location.

I tried the spicy chicken, noodles, and dumplings. The portions are generous and everything is definitely shareable, so I'd recommend ordering a few dishes to try. The food had great flavor, and the spicy chicken definitely brings the heat! Overall, a great experience! I'd recommend getting there early and coming hungry because this place gets busy. And don't forget to leave your name and a little message on their wall before you leave!

Modern Chinese Cook Book…read more.. Just in case you're wondering what it stands for and no I had no idea but did notice a cookbook in the restaurant but still didn't put two and two together. This Chinese restaurant is located on the ground floor in Chinatown and from the outside you have no idea what they have to offer even as you enter this cozy spot dishes out some serious bites. Menu takes a moment to figure out as they have dishes but are able to serve it with various sauces/or protein and does have indications of the spiciness level which surely helps in the decision making and be mindful as it all are served family style. My very first meal in Chicago I was ready for anything and the first impression was impressive for me personally as everything came out fast and hot and done right along with lovely presentation a quick pic was all it took as we were hungry. - Sour Pickle and Fish Fillet Soup It had the numbing sauce which I didn't understand and was afraid until I tried it and actually loved it the sour picked paired perfectly and that numbing soup was just that lol but wasn't spicy just left literally an impression on my palate - Chicken Egg Roll was just that very crispy and delicious though the presentation was unique as it came with a bowl of sauce packets - Cheng Du Spicy Wonton was probably one of my favorite simple but full of flavor drenched with sauce as it had a kick but not too spicy - American Broccoli with Flank Steak the classic that was good veggies done just right and tender meat - Eggplant Spicy Garlic Sauce was another favorite though I love eggplant it was tender and saucy that was a tad salty but gave it a good kick - Cold Noodle with Sesame Sauce was the last that we ordered so I was already getting filled up but it was nice and light that did accent and balance out the rest of the meal. Service is very nice and friendly especially with all of our questions since it was our first time and didn't disappoint and can see why there's always a wait and yes it's worth it if you're ever in Chinatown. Thank you!

Upon entry the décor is super modern and sparkling clean. We ended up sharing the Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup, the Red Chili Chicken, with a side of String Beans & Pork which were all fantastic! The noodles had the perfect amount of bounce and chew while the soup was incredibly beefy loaded with thick and tender pieces of meat. This 100% hit the spot! But our favorite was for sure the Red Chili Chicken. The batter is super crispy without being too dense. It almost feels like the batter expands into a hardened shell that is great at absorbing all of the chili oil spice along with the Sichuan flavor. Absolutely addicting and also paired well with the string beans and pork. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. The food may seem pricey at first, but after you taste the quality it is worth every penny. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu because they are truly masters of their craft. 10/10 would highly recommend!

For starters, we tried the Deep-Fried Pork Belly. It had a crunchy exterior with a dusting of chili powder, while the meat was incredibly tender. It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce that balanced the heat of the chili powder perfectly. I don't have much tolerance for spicy food, but I kept going back for "just one more bite." It was that addictive! For the main course, we tried the Mongolian Beef paired with Egg Fried Rice. The beef was so tender it practically melted in your mouth, and the vegetables had a nice bite to them--the perfect combination. The egg fried rice had just the right amount of garlic and egg, and it paired beautifully with the beef. I can't forget to mention the service. I felt like I was at my auntie's house--warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared for.

We ordered like the PERFECT amount of food and best variety. Roast duck: I honestly don't know if I've ever had duck before, but I'm a duck believer now. The skin on theirs was the perfect crispy shatter texture and the duck was sooooo juicy! I don't know why I was always so worried about it being gamey. They give you fluffy steamed bao buns, a sauce, and scallions on the side as well as duck fried rice! Turnip cake: Obviously a must any time I come to dim sum. I've never seen turnip in any other form than this. Japanese salt & pepper tofu: My FAVORITE dish ever. Any fried salt & pepper tofu always makes me happy. They use a creamy egg-like tofu and the outside is lightly crispy with amazing aromatics stir fried in. Steamed white rice on the side is perfect with this. Loved everything else my dinner buds picked and we were super full by the end! Service was good and food came out fast and scorching hot! ***Parking in the area is treacherous (not the restaurants fault, but reconsider driving if possible bc cell signal can be zero to none around the garages if you get lucky) ***Their website allows you to request a reservation as long as it's 3 hours before your desired time. We came on a Saturday evening around dinner time and there was plenty of room for us to get a table immediately as walk-ins!

The good stuff is the soy sauce noodles, shumai, congee, shrimp rice rolls. The bad are the hargow and the shrimp and chives dumplings. This place does not appear to grasp the texture of these two dishes. The wrappers keep coming off for these. Lastly, the service and communication is bad here. On my last day I wanted to get some to go food here. It took more than 50 minutes from order via phone to gettin the food. After waiting more than half an hour at restaurant I decided to ask them why it's taking so long and they said because of some baked egg tarts they didn't make yet. I asked how much longer it would take and they refused to tell me. Almost missed my flight because of this. Every time I came up to ask, they tell me a new item they are waiting for. I even asked if I can swap out for something they already have but no response and no timing update. I wish management would step in and at least offer some solution so I can be on my way. Hopefully they'll fix this in the future.
