We came across Lew's BBQ at Bob's Corn in Snohomish. The Hot Link Sandwich with grilled onions and cheese was great! AC Lewis, the Pitmaster of Lew's BBQ offered a sampling of his other delights including the chicken, pulled pork, brisket, and ribs! We were craving BBQ and ended up at Lew's for our fix. We happened to get there just before they opened at 3:30 pm so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I like to eavesdrop on what people are buying to see if there is a popular item. Lew was extremely nice and patient with us while ordering. He recommended their sampler platter with a few sides. Everything looked great so i was a bit disappointed when i took a bite out of it and it was just so so..The brisket and cornbread was our favorite and would highly recommend it. The ribs however were over cooked and the chicken, pulled pork and the sausage links were okay. I'm a sucker for sauces and the base was very vinegary. I just prefer a more sweet/tangy taste and wished they offer more sauce options other than regular and hot that was available. Overall, we had better BBQ. read more

I love the hole in the wall atmosphere it screamed good BBQ from the moment I saw it I had the Brisket which was excellent you can tell it is cooked over wood and the potato salad was good I could really taste the pepper in it however it worked really well. My girlfriend had the Big Papa she seemed to really like it however found the raisins in the slaw to be a different touch. We moved to Lake Stevens over last summer, about 3 miles across the valley from Everett Wa. I have driven by Lew's BBQ often, and today I decided to stop in to give the BBQ a try. The Beef brisket was very tasty and tender, bake beans were nice and smoky with a touch of sweetness. Although I am not a fan of collard greens, because my experience in the past was not pleasant due to them being slimy and over cooked. However, Lew had me try his greens and I found them to be tender and still a bit crisp with the carrots adding a sweet contrast to the flavor. I will be having collard green for sure the next time I go to enjoy this wonderful little BBQ place. Lew was very nice and soft spoken and I could tell by the very tasty food, he love his Bar-B-Que. In town for work needed to go to Lowe's, when I spotted the little house on the corner. Decided on the sampler to get a feel for the food. Heavy smoke notes on the food, you'll be re-tasting all evening. Meats, beans all over sauced, no contrasting flavors. Had the brisket sandwich. Was really looking forward to it as I could smell the smoker from my hotel. The meat was at the moment right before it gets dry and had no smoke flavor. The sauce on it was so-so. It came with one side and I chose the beans. They were right from the can...or at least that is the way it tasted. Big disappointment and I would not recommend it. I would give this place 3 stars but the truth is I probably won't return. Everybody has an opinion of BBQ. I sample quite a few. The ones I like I return to and tell others about. The ones that don't impress, not so much. We ordered a rib lunch and a brisket lunch. The ribs were meaty and had fair flavor. I expect a little more smoke taste but it wasn't bad. The sauce is added in the kitchen so you get what you get. It's a very mild sweet sauce. It's also very light, watery would be unfair but definitely not saucy. The side of beans was boring. It could have been out of can with a little seasoning added. The brisket did not impress either. It was chopped or pulled hunks. Reminded me of burnt ends. The meat was good enough but again the sauce left a little to be desired. The coleslaw side was average, no real zip or zing. Both meals came with a cold store bought biscuit. More filler than anything else. There wasn't any butter to put on it. I'm a little confused about the biscuit. Don't get me wrong. I think there are lots of people that would be satisfied with Lew's if they just want to eat. My tastes are little more sophisticated when it comes to Q. Lew seems to work alone so the service is a little slow. But meeting the owner and cook is always a good thing when going to small establishments. read more

At first I was a bit off put by the lack of energy of the restaurant. There weren't any staff in the front of the house.....and the only man running the joint didn't seem overly enthusiastic....I took a seat and looked through the menu while he brought me a water. I sat and spoke to him asking what his specials and personal favorites were. He told me his brisket was really good, and that I also had to try the pulled pork. I was torn between the pulled pork and the beef brisket, but went ahead and ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Ten minutes later he brought me a large plate with the pulled pork sandwich, stuffed with beef brisket as well, with a side of potato salad, beans, coleslaw, and corn bread.... Lew was very friendly.....not the type of upfront customer service friendly....but more so the type to welcome you into his home to fix you something to eat..He's from Long beach and grew up cooking and making bbq....good family man who works hard to provide for his kids. At the end of my meal he brought out a home made dessert that was like an apple pie cobbler. When he rang me up he only charged me for the pulled pork sandwich, so I made sure to leave him a 100% tip. read more

We were at the hotel around the corner and wanted something different from the road trip food we had been eating. Lew's BBQ came up and was close by. The is a true hole in the wall spot! There are about five tables, and interesting decorative touches. Loved the old electric train set. The smoker out front gives you an idea of what you will find inside. The aroma was amazing. I'd never had real BBQ before and was not disappointed! We had the Soul Food Sampler with ribs, a Thursday night special. Lew told us he had tried something different and smoked the Mac and cheese side that day. It was delicious...cheesy, smokey, gooey good! I've never had collard greens and they too were yummy. Corn bread and black eyed peas were also included and all homemade. Now the ribs, the ribs were fall off the bone perfect! Would I eat here again? Absolutely! Would I recommend it? OMG. . .where do we begin? I have driven by many times, but being very selective about BBQ I already had a favorite BBQ place. My favorite has closed it's doors so I decided to give it a try. I stopped in to get a lunch sampler. I usually don't get beef brisket because no one sees to be able to cook it so it is tender. The sample includes beef brisket but I almost didn't even try it. To have not done so would have been a HUGE mistake. It is sooo tender it almost melts in your mouth. So needless to say, when the brisket was so tender, the ribs, chicken and pulled pork followed suit! Now about the sides. . . .every one of the sides made the meat just that much better! I must add here that I do not like yams but his candied yams have made me a believer! I was soooo blown away by the food, I took my family, a friend and my nephews family there for dinner the next night. We got there at 6 pm and he assured us that we did not need to hurry that he would stay open as late as we need to. He was out of corn bread and candied yams due to the lateness of the evening. We ordered 2 sampler plates and 2 of each side so we could have an opportunity to taste everything. We enjoyed the family style setting we had, the paper plates were no issue and we had plenty of napkins. The greens were phenomenal, potato salad was good, beans great, coleslaw excellent, service superb. He has a TV on the wall which gave us conversation while waiting for our food. My only disappointment was that I waited so long to stop driving by instead of stopping in. He is not only my new favorite BBQ place but he is better than my former one! Lew is warm and greeting. He comes out to make sure everything is to your satisfaction. He takes pride in his food preparation and customer satisfaction. His prices are excellent for BBQ. We look forward to getting to know him better! I realize that not everyone likes food the same way. . .that is why there are so many choices in restaurants. So, I was in Everett for a week of training, each day I tried a new (unique) place, I had seen Lew's and walked by a couple times. Interesting looking place. I saw him out cooking one evening. I read ALL the reviews on Lew's. So, the last day I wanted to try it. I called and he told me he would be open at noon, a little after noon I arrived and the door was still locked, but he opened it quickly. Lew is a good guy, with an amazing story. He seated me, re-cleaned an already clean table, and gave me a menu, I ordered a half rack of ribs, and some greens. Lew brought out the food in about 10 minutes, it was hot and steaming, the greens were great, so great I ordered more. The ribs were plentiful, very good, very tender, and the sauce was sort of a BBQ soup in itself. He brought me some spicy sauce to try as well. Overall I would rate this as a good experience, I can see why some people might leave a bad review, but life is what you make of it. If you go to Lew's, expect a unique and personal experience. Don't expect a 5 star snob eatery. This man is putting down some real food, in his own way. Enjoy the experience. read more

We were on our way to Lowe's, my mother and I, when she pointed out this diner on the corner and said that we should try it one day. I admitted to haven eaten nothing but a banana, so after we were done with Lowe's, we went over to check it out. We actually ran into Lew and his little dog outside the place then made our way up the steps and into the diner proper. It's a very small place, with four tables in a side room and a couple bar stools/tables in the front room, but for those who don't wish to go in and sit, there's also a drive through window that may be used. The furniture is comfortable and clean, though for anyone with bigger thighs it might be a bit of a tight fit. What isn't taken up with basketball memorabilia instead displays model trains. It should be noted that while the tables were clean, i noticed that the window sill was in need of a scrubbing as well, with some visible discoloration. Weather this is because of the wood itself or not being clean, I don't know. When it came time to order, I decided on two pulled-pork sliders and baked beans, while my mother had lemonade. The food was brought out without any noticeable delay and, as my mother noted, a nice pile of napkins ("It's barbecue! You need napkins" -Lew). Everything we had was worth recommendation, and even now I can still taste the remnants of the sauces that were used. While he had nearly run out of brisket that particular day, he managed to scrape together enough for one slider for us to try, and I regret not being able to have it for a my meal. As we sampled, we learned that Lew had been cooking barbeque for over forty years, and that specials were from Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Saturday. We intend to return shortly. read more

My fiance and I found Lew's BBQ here on yelp. We were in a last minute change of caterer for our wedding two weeks before our big day!! We met with AC and Tabitha the next day and were instantly confident that they would provide us with the best catering for our wedding. His pricing was the best we had seen and the sample of the ribs was beyond amazing. His "secret" spices for the meat is hands down the best we have ever tasted... and my fiance isn't a big BBQ fan. :-) Over the following two weeks we didn't even have to check in with AC. He was in constant contact with us and the day of the wedding he showed up on time with everything prepared to perfection! Our guests couldn't stop going back for 2nd, 3rd and even fourth helpings! His pulled pork and mac-n-cheese were by far the favorites of the night. At the end he and Tabitha cleaned up and left the room as if they weren't even there. The venue owner was also thrilled with how well they cleaned up after themselves. Not every caterer leaves the venue as spotless at they did. We would HIGHLY recommed Lew's BBQ to anyone we pass. Only been here once (today), but the food was very good. The chicken and ribs were falling off the bone tender, and the pulled pork sandwich was heaped with pork. Barbeque sauce was decent. Smoky flavor on the meat was great. We had three sides--potato salad, cole slaw, and beans, and we'd order them again. Only downside is the hours (they close at 7 pm), the dining room (small, weirdly decorated), the plastic forks, and the fact that they charge $0.35 for a glass of water and don't have free refills for the pop. The chef was friendly and food came quickly. We will visit again and may even order the same things. read more

I travel all over the country for my job and always seek out bbq places. I have driven past Lews dozens of times and finally had a chance to stop in and had the Soul Food platter with ribs and brisket. 3 ribs and 3 slices of brisket and were both excellent. The black eyed peas were prepared differently than I am used to with a little corn and such mixed in. I also had the collard greens and corn bread. I cleaned my plate. I went here with my buddy at 6:45 not knowing the restaurant was closing at 7. The owner rudely told us "I'm closing in about 10 minutes" expecting us to leave. Then says "well order what you're gonna order." We then ask politely "is there anything that would be easier for you to make so we don't make it hard on you?" He says" no, it's all gonna be just as hard so let's just get on with it." So I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and my buddy got a beef brisket. Once we received the food I open up my box and my bun is moldy and the meat on both sandwiches was real dry and didn't have much sauce or flavor. Didn't taste very good at all would much rather go to Rockin M's. Overall poor experience for the both of us. Would give 0 stars if I could. Just thought I'd share my experience as it was very poor. Sorry to say, but I won't eat there again. My 1/2 rack of ribs to go, at $12.95, came in a small container. Not your regular takeout container, but half the size. It had dried meat chunks on it and BBQ fingerprints all over the outside. The cook handed it to me, and before I could say "There must be some mistake (with the small container) he says "I threw a little extra in there for ya." When I was finished with the small portion there were TWO rib bones total. I was VERY disappointed! The sauce was okay, but not the greatest by any means. I still can't believe I paid that much for so little food. A complete ripoff! I emailed them about my disappointment to try to keep my dissatisfaction private, but I received no response. They are in a high profile location by the Everett train station, so I imagine they have high rent. It's just too bad they've decided to give their customers the short end of the stick. I am 50 and have eaten allot of BBQ in my life and Lew's BBQ was the worst I have ever had!!! It was so bad that it wasn't even eatable!! I would give it a negative 5 star if this Ap would let me. The ribs were dry and hard with no flaver strewn with bone shards. I had to use BBQ sauce in my fridge to add flaver to even attemp to eat them. They were so discusting that I had to throw them out. Cardboard and dirty sweaty gym socks not washed for weeks has more flavor than his ribs! The cornbread was shoved in with the ribs and baked beans in a styrofoam clamshell container and was soaked in the baked beans and whatever that runny brown film in the container was. The cornbread tasted like a gelatin soaked stale tasteless mush of yellow baby poo!! I could not pallet it and it too had to be thrown out. The collard greens tasted like butt sweat and cat urin combined!! The smell and taste made me gag and sick to my stomach and too was not editable! The coleslaw was flavorless ans just plain weird made with raisins and also not editable. Who puts raisins in coleslaw? OMG!! The baked beans tasted old and overcooked ... I have had better baked beans from a can! If you want to get sick and throw your money away ... I suggest you eat at Lew's!!! read more
