Excellent food, friendly people. We so desperately needed a good middle eastern restaurant in the North Bay. Levant is a breath of fresh air! We tried three different dishes, an appetizer and two dessert and all were delicious. The Sayedieh and Maglouba were so moist and flavorful, yet the rice still holding its beautiful shape. I can't claim I make better rice at home! The only thing that can improve and I don't know if they can influence it at this point, is that it was too loud on a busy Friday night. It's a good sign for the restaurant but it makes it hard if you're trying to catch up with friends and have a conversation. The server was friendly to chat with us about our own background and culture; I really appreciated that she expressed her personal viewpoint and recognition.

So happy to have this restaurant in town! Ate with a Palestinian friend who said everything was authentic and delicious. I agree on the delicious! My favorite was the fried cauliflower in tahini sauce, the arayes, and the chicken shawarma. The only dish that was not a standout was the falafel, which was surprisingly dry. We also enjoyed a glass of Lebanese wine. Service was warm and inviting, and the place was buzzing!

Delicious Mediterranean food, clean and boisterous cafe atmosphere, friendly service. Really enjoyed the Lebnah and the Muhammara. When spread on soft chewy pita bread, paired with a middle eastern glass of white wine, this was a perfect appetizer course. I enjoyed the Falafel, although it was dense. Great flavor and moisture content, incredible crunch on the outside, but was a bit heavy on the inside. The sauce that accompanied it was delicious and artfully spread across the platter, but I wanted more. Would have preferred a simple ramekin with enough sauce to properly dip, of spread across the Falafel. Lamb chops were seasoned well, cooked perfectly, and made for a perfect main dish served atop saffron rice. The Kanafa was the sleeper hit of the evening! I had no idea what to expect, but this savory/sweet dessert was remarkable. It was crispy on the outside, gooey and salty cheesy inside, then drizzled with sweet syrup and topped with pistachios. This dessert is 5 out of 5 stars! While everything we ordered was great, I overheard the waitress apologize to 3 different tables adjacent to us about high wait times for food. Given the restaurant is so new, I hope they are just figuring things out, and that this is not a sign of unsustainable quality. It wouldn't be the first time a great kitchen has problems scaling up it's supply to meet demand.

Came her with my sister last week. I was visiting from out of town and she was dying to try this place. It's super cute and small enough to feel intimate and special, but big enough for groups as well. We started with prosecco which came in super cute mini bottles, and Greek fries. I had never had Greek fries before, and these we fantastic! I could eat these every day!! I cannot remember the name of what I got for my entree, but it was chicken wrapped in pita, cut into small perfect bites. We ordered a super yummy bottle of wine with dinner which we really enjoyed. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was fabulous. We had a perfect evening catching up over great food and wine. I would definitely come back when I'm in town visiting! There are so many great options too if you don't eat meat.

Wanted to try this place and here's my feedback to the owners... Beef was over cooked by about 3-5 minutes longer than it should. And so was the chicken. Portions are rather small for the price, but doable. I would recommend to have the meat more medium than well done as it loses its juices. All ingredients were fresh and of high quality so that's not the issue. This place has a huge potential to be the best, if they master their meat cooking temperatures. We also had falafels, and they were delicious!

Qatayif, kind of like a crispy pancake filled with walnuts and cinnamon-sugar. Vegan! Delicious!

Levant is a true gem in the heart of Downtown Petaluma. Their food is very authentic and the portions are generous. The ambience is very elegant and tasteful yet warm and inviting. The music is lively but at a volume where you can still talk and hear your fellow dinner mates. The food came out quickly, and the service was very attentive. Lots of vegan options as well. Not to be missed: the hummus, muhammara and the kufta (I had the one with impossible meat). It was mouth watering delicious. We wanted to try even more food but we had to stop ourselves. We were so full! We can't wait to return and try more dishes, especially the Makloubeh which is hard to find on any Middle Eastern menu!

Middle eastern food Heaven is here! So good great service and fabulous atmosphere! My favorite is the lamb chops and the fried cheese for sure! Must come visit here every month at least!

We visited the distillery next to Hotel Petaluma around 8 pm with a group of six (family, including my dad and uncle). Most of the patrons inside were white, and our waitress was an older white woman. From the moment we walked in, there was visible irritation about our party size. When my uncle picked up a chair so we could sit together, we were met with looks and attitude instead of any help. The overall vibe was cold and dismissive, and it made us feel unwelcome and judged. As a Mexican family in a room where nearly everyone else was white, the way we were treated felt targeted and uncomfortable. Whether intentional or not, the service came across as biased and unwelcoming. It's just really unfortunate, because this is a place we've supported for years. We left feeling embarrassed and upset, and that's not the experience you expect from a place in hospitality.

After seeing the menu, my number one choice was the beef Wellington, second choice would have been the Bijou Burger. My SO wanted the Oxtail, but was thinking of an appetizer that would be just right. so the Trout Dip was chosen. This was a half processed fish and half avacado packed into a bowl. Scooping both halves was the best of both worlds. The dip was smooth and great flavors, I would get this again. Then when the entrees came out, and we started eating, half way throught both items were quite heavy and we started to feeling full. The beef Wellington was cooked to a medium consistency, the crust as still firm and mushroom filing great. The oxtail was so tender, it falls off the bone. A different flavoring but fantastic. We ended up taking the oxtail home as it would be diffcult to reheat beef Wellington. No room for dessert. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like guests into someone's home. The atmosphere is calm, inviting, and thoughtfully arranged, with well-spaced tables and a comfortable bar area that makes it an ideal spot for happy hour cocktail--something I especially appreciated since they honor happy hour at the tables as well. Bijou is led by Co-Chefs and Co-Owners Stéphane Saint Louis and Steven Vargas, who have created a truly memorable, approachable French-inspired dining experience. Chef Vargas was present during our visit and took the time to speak with us, which always elevates an evening. He and the entire Bijou team are personable, genuine, and down to earth--you can feel the care they bring to both the food and the hospitality. The menu and décor are understated, but don't mistake that for simplicity. Every dish we had was thoughtfully composed, beautifully plated, and perfectly executed. Flavors were balanced, seasonal, and never overworked--nothing was over-sauced or overthought. Each plate stood confidently on its own, and everything arrived at the proper temperature, which speaks to the kitchen's attention to detail. Our female server was knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations that enhanced the experience. A special shoutout to Dan who clearly takes pride in ensuring guests enjoy their time. His knowledge of spirits and willingness to share his favorites added an extra personal touch. I've seen some comments about pricing, but I found it to be very reasonable given the quality of the food, Crafted Cocktails, service, and overall experience--especially for this level of execution in the Bay Area. I'll let the photos speak for themselves, but Bijou left a lasting impression. It's a place that proves you don't need an elaborate menu or flashy décor to deliver something truly special--just passion, balance, and genuine hospitality. Give the Bijou a visit, be present and enjoy what Chef Vargas and his team have to offer. Bravo Chef Vargas and Bijou Family well done and see you soon. Special note if you are a Chartreuse fan you definitely want to visit Bijou as they have a respectable selection which is rare to find.

We were going to order only 1 churro but the server offered that the churros are gluten free so we ordered two orders! The menu doesn't say this, so FYI. Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.
