I could not be more disappointed in the horrible experience we had at Leoness Cellars, Temecula this evening. The hostess, Grace, and manager, Lester, made our trip to what was supposed to have been a truly wonderful restaurant unacceptable. Grace was rude, anti-social and unprofessional from the first moment we approached the desk. She seemed truly "put out" that she would have to take extras steps to fulfill the request made on our reservation for a patio table. She glared at our party the entire evening and when our food arrived it wasn't surprising that one of the plates was inedible. The duck literally bled when it was cut into on the plate! When we asked to speak to the manager, Lester, he made no attempt to rectify the situation and simply stated that "they failed to provide phenomenal service". 100% true! We will NEVER return to nor ever recommend Leoness. read more

Brought my mom here for her birthday and we both fell in love! The ambiance is nice, the views are beautiful, the wine is divine and most importantly the food is DELICIOUS omg. I swear the Shrimp & Grits here are hands down the best I've ever had. We shared the Bacon Parmesan Fries, both had the Shrimp & Grits and split a side of Brussels Sprouts. All of them are 15/10. Our server, Michael Nguyen was very busy managing a fleet of tables while opening bottles of wine for tasting and glass pours. To start off, I have been to Leoness numerous times over the past few years. I went before they did their big remodel and liked it back then- great wine and great food! Fast forward to when I came back with my husband in October with some friends. I purchased the 6 taste wine card (a bit pricey at $21.50), and got to sample some of the best wines Temecula has to offer. One of my favorites was the Zinfandel. Our friends got a bottle and we all sat on the patio and enjoyed a lovely fall evening. Last month we came back with my parents and had a glass of wine on the patio again. The atmosphere is just so serene and breathtaking. The grounds are immaculately kept, and the staff is very friendly. I had shared with my husband that I'd really like to become members of this winery because of all the great reasons listed above. In addition, they have a fantastic restaurant with wonderful seasonal dishes. Saturday we came by after picking wine up at another winery we are members of, and we bit the bullet and joined. At first, we chose the silver membership of vineyard selection wines. One thing that is a bummer about Leoness is that with memberships, you don't get free tastings each time you come- it's only a certain amount per month. The silver membership allowed us 4 per month. Well, when we went back yesterday to take my parents, we blew through 3 of our 4, and it was April 1! So we decided to bump up our membership to gold and get more tastings as well as priority seating/reservations in the member area. $59 a month is a little more than we'd like to spend, but it will be worth it when we can have 8 tastings a month! Props to Bryce who helped us when we signed up. He was super nice and very helpful while we tried some of the wines. Overall- a great winery with a beautiful property. We are glad we became members and look forward to many serene afternoons relaxing in the member patio or even dining at the restaurant. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars are the limitations they have on tastings as compared to other wineries (if you are a member), and how you have to often wait to just get into the member area (or sometimes not get in at all!)on a busy weekend. Also, the cost of food at the restaurant is a bit on the higher side. But definitely way more positive things about this winery! read more

The wine tasting room at Leoness Cellars is spacious and beautiful! My bf and I had a relaxing time here and enjoyed the wines. Wine tasting cost $14 for 6 tastes. The lady who poured our wines for us was friendly and very informative about each of the wines we tasted. Her pours were standard (not super generous), but she offered us a couple of additional free tastings of other wines that we didn't choose. We ended up buying a bottle of the 2011 White Merlot--light and delicious! If I recall correctly, the lady said Leoness was the first to make White Merlot in the area. A lot of the staff seemed to know people who worked at other wineries nearby. We received a card for a 2-for-1 wine tasting at Danza del Sol. We had a great wine tasting experience here. My bf and I got to try a variety of good wines, and the entire staff was friendly. read more

No complaints on the wine! But the food was one of the worst meals we have ever had! Way over priced, way small portions (we usually split a meal because they're so big most of the time) and no taste. The Mushroom Medley looked like a small appetizer on a large dinner plate. Four of us enjoyed the Member for a Day package through Groupon. The winery was breathtaking and the weather was perfect with the beach winds blowing in. Our guide/hostess-with-the-mostess was Kim. She was not only knowledgeable, but down-to-earth and courteous. We had a fun time with her driving around in a golf cart around the grounds. Out service was incredibly slow, they removed the flowers off our table and replaced with a candle while we were still dining, extremely rude. We did the wine tasting as well, it was $25 and you don't get to keep the cup, the pours were very small. Other wineries are $20, you keep the cup and they pour double. Leoness is a beautiful beautiful spot. The layout is unique and the wine is good. Unfortunately the service wasn't a hit with me. I waited behind 2 other people for close to 30 minutes waiting to order tapas. I understand it being busy and service being a bit delayed, but atleast be kind to customers while they wait. The cook seemed overwhelmed and annoyed, it showed with each customer. They had one girl doing tastings at the lower patio, so she was swamped and it took a bit to grab a pour. But she tried to remain smiling through it. The restaurant had a 4 hour wait, so I highly suggest reservations if you plan to eat inside on the weekend. The food is pricy but delicious. I only sampled one salt and vinegar fry before I left (my party stayed), but it was delicious for the $13 price it is a rather large portion of fries with 3 dipping sauces. We've looked at few venues in Temecula and others outside Temecula. When we arrived at Leoness, my then fiance and I knew that Leoness is The place for us. The open setting, looking through the vineyard and mountain, is just breathtakingly spectacular. The food was amazing, the chicken was especially very tasty and tender. After we booked the venue, we got connected with Mary the wedding coordinator. We only had about 7 months to plan our wedding, but Mary was very helpful with her prompt and thorough communication, from the very start to the very end. She even replied our emails during her off days. The vendors and the Leoness staff all came together on our day to make our vision come to reality. Mary always kept assuring us and tried to lessen all the worries that i had. I was extremely worried about the weather, first that it would rain. Second that it would be cold and windy. Mary arranged to place heat lamp by my parents during the ceremony, just in case weather was not cooperating. But thanks to God, our prayers were answered and we had such a beautiful day, sun was out and less windy. The staff, including Alexandra and Krystal/Crystal and Roger were kind, incredible and super helpful. Alexandra helped placing the candles, pictures, favors and other things that need to be placed accordingly. Throughout the reception night, Mary made sure that we were taken care of, asking how we were doing. I can't say enough, of how wonderful it is to experience our wedding at Leoness. We came back recently mainly for lunch because we saw how pretty the setting was last time we were by. We ended up wine tasting since there was a wait for a table. Not a bad deal, really. I think it's a pity that they have such a beautiful facility but yet it's staffed by unsmiling people. I get that crowds can be overwhelming but paste an effing fake smile on your face and be a professional! None of the wine pourers we encountered seemed happy to be there. One guy tried to be helpful but he was neck deep in old folks wanting his time. The wait for lunch didn't take too long. But in a nutshell, you're just paying for the setting. The food was average, not good or great but presented beautifully. Our server was stiff and awkward with us but, for whatever reason, came alive when he was given a table of four people ordering wine. He was definitely more available to them than to us. Back to the food. Overpriced...especially those fries they make sure to put on a pedestal. We ended up getting au naturale and the truffle ones. Yeah, we were those suckers. They were alright - think In N Out fries but bigger. Meh. I got the New York Strip (rare)....it was so undersized... The "sides" were a handful of halved baby tomatoes and a bunch of arugula on top. The steak itself was perfectly cooked but could have used a bit more salt. Hubby ordered the quiche which he said was ok...that also came with a bunch of arugula on top. To be honest, I've been living in Temecula for a few years now, and have never been to this winery. I've seen it across the street from one of the other wineries. So, recently we decided to check it out, as we had family visiting from out of town, and they were staying nearby. Came here on a Sunday, just right before they opened for lunch. We still had to wait for 20 minutes, before we got seated. Their reason behind it, their server was running behind. We finally got a table, but took a little bit of time to get our drink orders. Our server finally arrived 15 minutes later, and took our drink orders. Even that took awhile to get. Mind you, we were probably one of the only two tables at the time. Our party got different dishes, one got a quiche, smoked salmon salad, strip steak dish, simple salad with chicken (this dish was ordered by the boy, and he said the chicken was served cold.), lobster ravioli ( this one was actually pretty good, nice flavor to it and very filling.), and I ended up ordering the chorizo with mussels. You would think it would have heat to it, being that it had chorizo, it just felt a little short. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, love the modern rustic look to it, timeless decor. The winery had an awesome view, very picturesque. The only thing was the service, we hardly saw our server once he got there. Only checked in on us just once. Grab your gals and come for the views, food & sangria & wine of course, but that's a given. I will warn you with their sangria they don't add the fruit to it until they pour it in your glass so it may not be as sweet as you might be use to. A little muddling of your own in the glass will do the trick. The mussels are absolutely amazing & BIG! There is so much flavor and extra sauce for dipping.
