Leonesse Cellars knows wine and understands how to serve it. This hilltop vineyard provides amazing desert mountain views that go on for miles. The large outdoor patio makes for a great spot for enjoying the sun. Leonesse was my last sop on a winery tour, and they really did save the best for last...or at least best in terms of wine flavor. With each swished sip, I was able to clearly pinpoint certain undertones in the beverage. Their blends and ports are crisp, distinct, and bold. While we could have learned more at this tranquil spot, I was blown away by the actual taste of the wines. Came here last weekend for my mother's birthday. Was a bit nervous about some of the reviews about service, but found them to be unfounded and likely fake. We had a reservation for 530 and were promptly seated by a friendly hostess. Our waiter was also quite friendly and helpful. It's a beautiful location. We ordered the baked Bri the Panag salad the duck and the venison. Everything was excellent. For wine we aren't really into reds but they have a great wine voitgeur and a white merlot rose that's delicious. The black Forrest gateau for desert was amazing. Only minor complaint was the music was rather loud and I would say inappropriate for a winery. Other than that it was an awesome experience I would highly recommend read more

This is one of my favorite wineries in Temecula. I like this winery because of the set up of its outdoor seating, vineyards, and restaurant. There are multiple levels of seating. There are areas which are for members only. I'm not sure if nonmembers get table service but we were never provided with service while sitting on the tables outside. There is a restaurant as well that's separate from the outdoor seating. Some wineries in Temecula do not have a restaurant and I like that this one does. I like having food while wine tasting. I believe on the weekends, there are multiple bars set up around the outdoor seating. We did go on a weekday so we needed to do a bit of walk to the main tasting room to get our drinks. It is a dog friendly winery but they do not allow dogs in the tasting room. We did bring our dog and because of this, my fiancé and I could not get drinks together in the tasting room. If dogs were allowed there, I would give this winery 5 stars. Otherwise, the seatings of this winery do offer beautiful views. The premises are also beautiful to walk around on. They also have a pathway to walk around to enjoy being up close with the vineyards. We went in August and the grapes were about ready to be harvested at this time. I recommend going in August if you want to see the grapes. We did a flight tasting which consisted of 6 tastes. We liked the Zinfandel the best. We got a groupon deal for two tastings for $24. I suggest going through Groupon than paying regular price. Overall, I would recommend this winery because of its landscape, beauty, outdoor seating. read more

I have never been more disappointed in a dining experience. We went to the restaurant yesterday for Mother's Day with 9 people. We are members at this winery and have been for months. We had a reservation and they sat us right away (outside table). The restaurant was busy, but they should have expected it because of the holiday and the amount of reservations they had. It took about 30 minutes for us to get water. After that, another 20 or so minutes for our server to come out and take our order. We understood that the menu was fixed that day and had no problems with it. We ordered our starters and waited another 15-20 minutes for pre-made soups and salads to come out. We did not get checked on ONCE and our plates did not get cleared. Our main entrees finally arrived after 30 more minutes and 2 of the plates came out wrong. Not to mention we never saw our server again after he took our order the first time. The steak was under cooked and chewy. The rest of the food was good (nothing special). Again, the entire time we were eating not one person checked on us. When we got our bill, it was over $760! They added their own 20% tip and charged us for wine that we should have got for free for being members. We were shocked too say the least at the price for the experience we had. We asked a women that was bringing food out (not our original server) for a to go box so we can get some desserts at least to take home. She said yes and went to get it. I waited about 5 minutes without a box so I went inside to find her telling the entire staff about our table and that I was trying to take all of the desserts home in multiple boxes. I waited for her to finish talking and then let her know I heard the whole thing. I got my dessert and went back inside to ask a question, where I found her telling more people about our table loudly. We asked for the manager (who we hadn't seen the whole time), and she came to our table. We explained everything that happened and how disappointed we were and about our experience. She didn't say ANYTHING besides "We can't give you to go boxes". Which was not even a concern for us. She told us to hold on and came back with her business cards...when we asked her what we do with them she said we can email something to the winery and then she walked away and said "Have a good rest of your day". You think after spending almost $800, the manager would hear us out and figure out how to help us. We all got up to leave and honestly started laughing at her because of the way she DIDN'T handle the situation. She asked someone to escort us out. Not only was this a horrible Mother's Day experience for both my mom and grandma, but a bad experience at a winery that we used to enjoy. We will be cancelling our memberships!! read more

This was my first time doing a wine tasting and I absolutely loved it! My favorite wines during the tasting were the Brut NV, Syrah, White Merlot, and Zinfandel. Beautiful indoor setting. French Contemporary setting. Comfortable seating, nice ambiance for an afternoon luncheon. My friend brought me for a birthday lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the hidden restaurant behind the winery. The hostess was lovely! Friendly and right away Reccommended the soup of the day. (Potato soup with bacon and grilled onions.... something I would not normally order but absolutely LOVED!! Delicious!! And the waiter (Josh) was by far one of my favorite positives in the restaurant experience. Pleasantly friendly and very accommodating to all our requests and questions. With the petite filet medium rare, The asparagus was perfectly seared and the meat melted in my mouth. The onions were also appropriately portioned just right and prepared to perfection. I look forward to coming back for a romantic dinner with my husband and would recommend this restaurant for a celebration or even just a work or friendly lunch. Delicious!! The property is quite stunning and the atmosphere of the restaurant has a laid back elegance. The service was attentive and friendly. Overall, our dinner was a relaxing experience. The food was nicely presented and prepared, but if you've seen one charcuterie board and flatbread, you've seen em' all. The restaurants in Temecula Wine Country offer very little diversity from their menus and "Leoness" is no exception. My husband and I know we're not the only ones that feel this way. Please, offer more diverse and ethnic menu options in Temecula's winery restaurants!! Absolutely gorgeous winery! The main tasting room is beautiful and the patio and grass area overlook the vineyard. The tastings were well worth the price and we picked up a few excellent wines too. If you join their wine club, you can go down to the lower 'cellar room.' It's cool and dark with barrels stacked from floor to ceiling. The employees are super friendly & knowledgeable and all the 'customers' (i.e. tasters) were treated very professionally. We went on a Saturday and it wasn't overly busy. Made a reservation for Saturday, we were seated promptly and greeted by our server Chris. We ordered the Ahi wontons and were told by Chris that they are known for their fries so of course we had to order. Parmesan and bacon fries! Both shareables were delicious but the fries were the star! Crunchy, salty and with chunks of bacon and Parmesan the three dipping sauces were the bomb. I liked them so much that I told Chris if they bottled it I would buy all three, he was so sweet when he sent some of each hole with us. We also shared the Italian flatbread and Creme brûlée. Leonasse is a boutique vineyard so you won't be able to find their wine at Ralph's or BevMo. Si unique! WINE - BREATHLESS I'm a big cab drinker so I love their cab 08, new release. NOTE: their wines are limited so first come first served! If you like it, then buy a case because there is NO next time! :) We also tried the 2010 Dry Muscat Canelli ($18) but $13.50 if you join the Wine Club. Very reasonable membership. They ship you 3 bottles every quarter and all you pay for is the shipping. Back to the wine, it's a delicate peach and apricot, complemented by bright acidity and a crisp lingering finish. It's sweet but WITHOUT the sugar! Who's in for some healthy wine? =D~ The Compilation 07 was second in place - cab, cab Franc, Mourvedre, Zin, and Petit Verdot blend. Decadent fruit flavors layered with black licorice, coffee, eucalyptus, and cedar. I'm telling you, these wines are "only one of its kind". Eucalyptus? Review strictly for customer service while trying to book a reservation. I called three times on a Saturday to book a reservation for my family on Mother's Day. Was told a 4:30 pm was available and needed a card on file. I said I'd call back to book this as I needed to make sure everyone was ok with this reservation before being charged. I called back twice that day. Was told they were busy, wrote down my name and number and they'd call me back to book that reservation. Never heard back. I called once more and left a voicemail. Then followed up with an email. I called on Sunday and Lauren on the phone stated they were so busy on Saturday that's why they couldn't get back to me and help. That they're also no longer taking reservations. Well thank you Leoness Cellars for acknowledging that you had my calls, voicemail, and email and just couldn't take a moment to assist. Hello, My husband and I have been members of Leoness winery for a while. On Sunday we brought our aunt and uncle to their first wine tasting experience. We always love to spend time at the terrace lounge for the monthly tastings. Today we arrived at 1:00pm and were told that our wait would be two hours which we knew would be ok. We are now at the almost 3 hour wait and were told that we should have made reservations ahead of time after the fact that we have been lounging for over two hours thinking we would at least have a table. The two ladies at the front displayed a pompous attitude and said we would not have to have waited this long if a reservation was made. I looked through all my emails for some form of communication regarding the new reservation system and I didn't find any. I travel from Orange County each month and do not live locally. I have never been treated the way I was treated today. I am now questioning my membership with Leoness and thinking of taking my business elsewhere. Sincerely Disappointed member read more

This place was pretty busy on a Sunday morning, probably because of the Monday holiday. I'd recommend taking the "vine walk," a self-guided trail through the vineyard that ends at the Barrel Room. Surrounded by leaves and fruits, you will be away from the crowd for a little while. You'll also get to see, touch, and taste the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes hanging from the vines. In September, they are the size of blueberries and sweet but not too much. Of the wines on the two pages of selections, we like the 2006 Zin (light to medium body, tiny bit spicy) and 2006 Syrah (smokey and good body). read more

Sent my parents here during 2010 holidays & they brought me back a delicious bottle of white Merlot so I was stoked when I finally got to visit this winery in Nov 11. Outside, the grounds are beautiful, the landscaping is very nicely done, & the patio is a great place to relax with a glass of wine. The ambiance inside of the winery is bright, open, lively, & inviting. There's a fireplace, lots of windows, and a large room adjacent to the tasting area with TONS of stored vino. There are lots of delicious reds to sample! Both standard & HUGE bottles of wine are available for purchase. It was too early to eat & kill the early morning wine buzz since this was the first stop of the day. I'll definitely have to return so I can try the restaurant and indulge in more red wines. read more

Miramonte Winery, terrible customer service; I wanted to change a bottle of wine out from monthly shipment because I do not like sweet whites. They refused to do so, which caused me to cancel my membership, which they seemed perfectly fine with. Then they charged two bottles of wine to my Visa that I did not pick up, gal argued with me on the phone. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company; found me to be correct. Another voted #1 disappointment. The wine was good. The food/service was something else. Have you ever heard of a steak only prepared medium rare? Add to that the plate was served cold. Not very appealing. We had to request our menus to be removed. In a business which is apparently quite profitable, how can they not afford a staff of busboys? The plates sat on our table for an interminably long time. The servers simply do not have the time to do their job efficiently. That said, the venison was excellent. Took my husbands family from New Mexico to Leoness and did a private winery tour. It was an amazing experience. Our sever Brandy did an excellent job. Answered all our questions, and gave them a lot of wine knowledge to take back home, along with four bottles of the white merlo. It was toward the end of the day (on an early closing day), but we didn't feel rushed at all. The person who was helping us even gave us a "bonus" taste of a special wine. Wedding Venue Review: Leoness Cellars is so important and special to us! My (now) husband actually chose this location to propose to me because it was highly rated on yelp and was described as up and coming. After that, it was a no brainer to choose this place to actually get married. Soon after, we found out they were going to be renovating and we were so worried it would lose the charm that we had fallen in love with. What Leoness Cellars transformed into within a few short months is breathtaking! It was already beautiful but now it is so chic, romantic, openly laid out, and truly just majestic. All of our pictures have turned out better than we could have ever hoped! That was just the winery! Mary, the head wedding coordinator for Leoness, was extremely helpful. She knew how stressful planning a wedding is and she made it so simple for us! We were not exactly in town and she constantly kept me updated with pictures of the reception area, dimensions of things needed, and contacts that could help me along the process. The overall wedding day was a breeze! We had been waiting for this day for over 10 years and we never once had to worry about anything that day. Mary and her team made sure our only focus was cherishing every moment. She even gifted us cases of our favorite beers to get that party started during our reception! Not only that, she made sure to cart our guests to and from the venue to make sure that they were able to focus on enjoying the moment as well and not having to worry about getting from A to B! Her assistant, Alex, helped my bridesmaids with my bustle, which was a massive time saver, and she made sure to help me carry my train prior to that! My husband and I still keep talking about how Mary kept checking in with us and kept making sure to have our glasses filled so that all we had to do was just greet guests and enjoy our most special night. I could not write enough about this venue or the people that make your dreams come true here. We visited Leoness Cellars about a month ago. Even with all of the construction this place is fantastic. When it is complete this place is going to be even more amazing! We had some tastings and then ate in the restaurant. It was extremely hot that day (100*F+), but with the shade and misters it was very comfortable. The hostess was very accommodating as well. We had the charcuterie board and ordered French fries, which were probably the best French fries I have ever had. Along with a bottle of the brut sparkling wine made it perfect. We'll definitely be coming back soon. read more
