I think this place is pricey. The service was very odd. They mixed up our orders and were not very clear when she was reading the order back. Their sandwiches are huge and the chili cheese fries were great and huge as well. They make a mango smoothie that is delicious. They forgot the meat on our sandwiches but fixed the orders. Add bacon to whatever you order, it's thick and deliciously crispy. Over a cute and clean location. Very large facility. I don't think I would go back if I was in the area though. read more

Cute place. Okay food. This is a great place for big groups and kids. Good place for food? Not so much. The burgers are okay. The fries are okay. Everything is just okay. The only memorable thing about this place, the fun and retro decor. STAY AWAY FROM: The strawberry malt. It is not made with quality ingredients and it is evident with it's heavy, unnatural taste. read more

I came here with a few friends. One of my friends suggested this place because he really liked the portions and food. Yay: -Sampler: We got the sampler to share between 4 people and it was more than enough. Comes with fries, fried zucchini, and fried mushrooms. I liked the portions but the fried mushrooms didn't have flavor and burnt my mouth. Eat with caution. -Portions: they have a big portions on most of their food. -Setting: lots of seating available. Other: -Jr Cheeseburger: this was okay. My cheese wasn't melted :( read more

My boyfriend and I came in for a quick bite. We both ordered a salad (one tuna, one asada). While the protein seemed good we noticed underneath all the toppings that the lettuce was brown and yellow and very thin. We took a few bites and threw it away. A couple hours later we were both very, very ill and the symptoms continued all through the night and into the next day. After telling a friend about our experience, she had said that the day prior she had gone to Legends and was sick all day after eating a hamburger from there - same symptoms. While the customer service was very good and the restaurant was clean, I think some quality control is needed before serving old and contaminated ingredients. 3 people getting sick from the food in a 24 hour period should not be happening. I hope this brings awareness to the restaurant and the quality of what's being served. read more

Great place to eat with a variety ranging from classic American diner with a milkshake stand on the side, to a South of the border menu that includes fresh fish tacos. The interior is a tourist attraction in itself with countless memories of the good ole' days. What a great start to the first day of the month. My brother suggested, out of the blue, for the family to come to Legends. I have never heard of the place, but he had high remarks on the place, so I asked him "when" and "lets go". Little did I know, the next day, for brunch, we hopped in the car and there were were...in front of the famous Legends Classic Diner. Before you walk in the double doors, you see the signs of the Historic Route 66 around the entrance. Of course, if you know the history and the signifigance of ROUTE 66, you'd know that this route can take you from CA to OK. Because we're in CALIFORNIA, on the sides of the double doors say CA: ROUTE66. When you walk in, you immediately feel the vibe of the olden days. In front of you is where you order your meals and all over the diner, you see lights, street signs, decorations, picture frames, etc that brings you back to the good old days. Beach Boys, Beatles, Elvis, Lucy, Charlie Chapman, Frank Sinatra, Marylin Monroe, Betty Boop, etc. It's such a unique place. Next to the Betty Boop Figurine, stands a real juke box. The whole place is just a fresh of breath air. Colorful and if you love old fashioned food and the classic diner feeling, then this is definitely the place for you. I took lots of pictures and I will post them up as soon as I can. Food: We didn't know what we really wanted to eat because the pictures posted on their walls were just so fascinating and intersting. I ordered their Cheeseburger Combo (#2), my brother ordered the Chili Cheese Fries, and my mom ordered the Turkey Avocado Sandwich on sourdough bread. My meal came with seasoned fries and a drink. If you ask me what is good, I am unable to answer. I haven't tried their other sandwiches or burgers, I am yet able to try their floats, malts, shakes, etc. I am waiting for this upcoming week to experience Legends in the evening. Anyway, their cheeseburger tasted so much like In-N-Out's burger, but their seasoned fries were phenomnimal. I had their sweetened black tea and their sweetened green tea...I have never tasted such tea as theirs before. For the Chili Cheese Fries, the cheese is delishious and very filling. The portions were very generous. The fries can satisify three adults. As for the Turkey Avocado Sandwich on sourdough bread, I would order that any day. They give you about an inch of turkey and another inch of creamy avocados. Yummmerz! As for pricing: It's actually cheap for the portion you're given. Besides, the decor and the vibe is worth the few bucks. This is, honestly, the BEST DINER I have ever been in. I don't know if I can sit in a Dennys or IHOP again after coming here. I will update this soon once I get a chance to come back in the evening, where the real fun starts. hehehehehe read more

Specialties

Some legends are born, some are made -- but in our case, it's both. Our name and our theme were a natural choice. When you're right off Route 66, you've got to pay tribute to the legends that first made it great. But when it came to making our own place legendary, we knew we'd have to go the extra mile. That's why we use fresh ingredients in every made-to-order dish, right down to our sauces and batters. Retro decor and superior old-school customer service make the whole trip an unforgettable blast from the past. The result? A cool place to grab a bite that's a cut above the rest. So pick a booth, put a tune on the juke, and order up!

History

Established in 2005.

With a location like ours off Route 66, the theme of our restaurant was a no-brainer. Legends Classic Diner opened in 2005 to bring travelers of all stripes a taste of the past (with a fresh culinary take).

Meet the Business Owner: Peter T.

Peter has been in the restaurant industry for more than 35 years, ever since he and his brother started a restaurant out in South Pasadena. Legends came later -- and by that time, Peter had plenty of know-how and passion for the business to be successful. There's nothing he values more than a satisfied customer.

I had the cheesesteak and as a guy who grew up in NJ and frequented Philly; these guys are crushing it. Thinly sliced ribeye, melted provolone, peppers, caramelized onion; all on a soft roll that rivals the Amaroso from back East. We also had a burger and fries. My son said it was 9/10. The staff here were super friendly (see my last coffee review) and super knowledgeable about their ingredients. Fresh, locally sourced and cared for; that's how I like my meat! I'd eat here once a week easy. But since it's 2 hours away from San Diego; I'll opt to recommend you skip In N Out for a night and take the crew here. Likely one of the very rare 5 star reviews that I will ever do. I have been living here for 35 years and Legends has been a staple for myself and my family after I "discovered" the place. What you get here is solid, tasty food that is inexpensive, served fairly quickly in a shop that is clean clean clean. The only down side is that the food you get is often warm, not as hot as I would normally like but that's not really an issue since warm food is what you're paying for here, it *IS* a fast food place, after all! WARNING: If you order a large helping of French Fries, be warned that if you plan to eat them all by yourself you may not be able to. A small helping of fries is a large helping anywhere else, and a small should tide you over through the entire meal, no real need for a large order. Also their ONION RINGS are excellent, they are thick-cut and battered and breaded to perfection. Often over the years all I have ordered is the onion rings, together with the salsa bar that's all one really needs. :) There are a few items on the menu that are fairly expensive, but that's because they're rather specialty items that cost a lot to make, everything else is a very good price for the excellent food one gets. read more

"Stopped by Legends Diner and had a great experience. The food was fresh, hot, and really tasty. The chicken tenders were crispy and full of flavor, the fries were seasoned just right, and the burger was juicy and loaded with toppings. Portions were generous and everything came out hot and fresh. It's also conveniently located right on Route 66 in Glendora, California, which makes it an easy stop if you're in the area. One thing to know before you go: you place and pay for your order at the cashier first, then find a seat and they bring your food out to you. Definitely a great spot for comfort food and we'll be back!" read more

Legends Diner in Glendora really is a blast from the past the moment you walk in. From the retro walls to the old-fashioned tables and chairs, every detail feels rooted in classic American culture and history. It's the perfect spot for a comforting breakfast, with a solid selection of all the staples you'd expect. Service was great as well, the staff was very charismatic. They also serve burgers and other diner favorites if you're stopping by later in the day. Overall, a charming, nostalgic spot with good food and a warm, welcoming vibe. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Stopped by Legends for breakfast and it was a great experience. We ordered the breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, and pancakes, everything was delicious and well‑made. Portions are solid, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Customer service was friendly and attentive, and the decor gives the place an awesome vibe that makes it feel welcoming. Really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back to try their lunch items. read more

I speak some Spanish, enough to know that the kitchen staff person looked at me, nodded his head toward another kitchen staff person and joked about me standing there stuck behold hold people who couldn't make up their mind, after which three of the kitchen crew looked at me and laughed. I've been to Legends 5 times this week, this is the 5th time and the last. I'll go to TacoBell where the staff doesn't laugh at their customers. read more

horrible don't get me wrong, the food is awesome but the people working there are seriously retarded. At first i didn't mind it when they messed up my order once, but literally every single time they forget something, EVERY time. Its to the point where i dont even want to bother going anymore. Legends should really try and spend more time on highering better employees who can actually do their jobs. read more

This restaurant has so much potential but unfortunately taking a break from returning as it's never been truly good, simply satisfactory. Today it even fell below satisfactory and the restaurant was the least busiest that we have ever seen it. Service was helpful and pleasant but food was definitely below satisfactory. Crispy waffle was not crispy and too rubbery. Pancakes too chewy. Scrambled eggs had liquid still following from not being cooked properly. Hash browns much too oily. With this many failures, no need to send food back. Obviously the cooks were not giving their all at 1:00 pm on a Sunday! We are often looking for good breakfast and lunch locations but unfortunately Village Vault has fallen off of our list. Our last couple of visits the older gentleman that I believe may be the owner has not been around. Possibly the kitchen staff may not be at their finest without his presence.

I really took to the lechon tots - incredibly seasoned pork with pico de gallo topped with a tasty green sauce. I really wish they had a salad version of it. My burger was incredible. Okay, not quite, but the cooks absolutely know what they're doing and they crank out top quality burgers very quickly. And as is the way with these OG burger joints, they don't skimp on the fries.
