Update 8/6/17: Well, this place is out of the rotation. I tried calling today to place an order for pickup. I called 5 times with no answer. One time, it sounded like somebody picked up because I could hear background noise in the restaurant, so I waited for a minute but still nobody answered. My husband then showed up at the restaurant in person and waited at the host stand. After waiting a while, nobody ever acknowledged him. What a waste of time. I'm leaving two stars here because the food is good if you can get it. Original review: A coworker recommended this place to me, so my husband and I stopped in for dinner one Sunday. Out of all of the local sushi places we've tried, they can be split between (1) places I like, (2) places he likes that I'm sick of and (3) places we both dislike. Sooo, it was time for a change! We were seated near the door, which made for a chilly evening, but it was made tolerable with hot soup. Due to the freebies (seaweed and sushi rice) and sides (salad and/or miso soup) we were already starting to fill up by the time our sushi arrived! To no one's surprise, we ordered way too much. One roll each would have been plenty, as the fancy rolls are big! The nigiri was perfectly proportioned, with not too much rice or too small/big cuts of fish. We ordered a "special" roll, which came with a generous amount of fish. Yum! My spicy tuna roll was actually spicy--yay!! The service is quite slow, but since it's a BYOB, that's not the worst thing. I ordered sushi platter from this place. When I arrived, I had to wait 30 minutes for my order. I am very disappointed with their fish quality. They use low quality tuna. Also, salmon was not properly prepared to eat! I strongly recommend not to order any platter from this place. read more

The restaurant recently hired a new team of waiters/waitresses and bus boys. The service went downhill. The new crew is unfriendly and unattentive! Although the food is still decent, this is no longer our go-to sushi place. We found another place in Lincoln Park that is amazing. read more

Im confused as to why this place has such a high rating. I would rate this place a 2.5/3 at most. I went here for a late dinner. I ordered a spicy salmon and a special roll which I already forgot the name of. Spicy salmon was not even spicy and the other special roll looked like the outside was supposed to be tempura but was soft and odd... I know of other good sushi places so i would not recommend or come back. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite for a craving tonight and not disappointed. Lees is in a circle of 3 places we rotate through when we are getting sushi. The service was slow tonight, but the was food excellent. We always try new rolls and picked The Fire roll, Dragon, and Volcano roll. Outstanding. Also, love the complimentary items they provide such the pickled seaweed and baked rice with cheese. They also provided an ice cream dough ball dessert item to cap the meal off. read more

This place blows me away. I'm from Wayne, but I haven't lived here in 30 years. I live in California where the sushi is amazing. This place isn't as good, but awfully close, and in Wayne! Plus they give you all these added things for no particular reason, but it's good. My parents come here regularly and get the hot food, which is very good, and extremely plentiful. read more

The eat in experience is not 4 star service, more like a luncheonette with some Asian accents. The food eat in is terrific, but this is my delivery experience. $76 for dinner. Ordered some simple things, a Korean dumpling soup that came completes with a ton of egg shells. We ordered the shrimp tempura and vegetable dinner...what we got was...well, I don't really know, I couldn't find it on the menu. It was a shrimp and vegetable mixture that tasted like cat food and 3 little shrimp things and a soup. I didn't bother calling because it took an hour to get here. Love, Love Lee's Sushi. Ate here for the first time three Saturdays' ago with my family in New Jersey. They are regulars at Lee's. For me, Lee's was a special surprise. Mr. Lee and his staff are a class act. Professional, pleasant, attentive and funny as hell too. Our sake was on the house. Each patron is given the complimentary appetizers consisting of spicy rice baked in a large sea shell and presented in said sea shell. A small dish of kimchee on the house too. A serving of scallion pancakes too. Our entrees were super tasty. Wonderful warm edamame, miso soups, house salad and of course various sushi combinations we selected. All good choices. Everything was fresh, flavorful and good size portions. Particularly loved a korean hot crock pot of mixed rice and vegetables with beef. Just delicious. Lee's Sushi serves both Japanese and Korean food. Lee's includes changing dessert surprises accompanied with your check. Lots of laughs ensued. Mr. Lee and his staff appear to take pride in their meal prep, like their work and perform their jobs well, putting smiles on most of their customers' faces. The rice was so soft, fluffy, perfectly sticky and then that sauce that is similar to spicy mayo spread all over the top... ugh... I can't. Lees . I love this place. I have to say they have the most fresh ingredients out of all places I have been. Decor is very nice. Seating is average and place is always packed. Great rolls. My favorite is the shrimp crunch. Chicken tempura roll , spicy tuna , lobster are all favorites. Suishi rice appetizer comes out to every customer as well as a seaweed cold salad. Byob and liquor store is the next store over. Staff is very friendly . I high recommend. Going here. You won't be disappointed !! read more

Placed an order, told us an hour. We wait almost 2 hours with nothing. Call them and they tell us someone's order was messed up and they were really busy. That's not my problem that someone else's order is messed up and you couldn't deliver mine. The least you can do is call us. This place is really good! So many selections for Sushi rolls and the service is always kind and efficient. Located in a little plaza by BMW dealer, they are open for lunch and dinner and it's BYOB, which is great to lower your (drinkers!) bill. Price is really normal for rolls, but very reasonable for apps and lunch specials which last till 3:00pm. Worth to try if you are around or plan with a group for a alternative sushi place. read more

Nice enough looking place, plain wooden tables, paper napkins, chopsticks. I did not notice any background music. Service was fast and professional. Our server forgot to ask if anyone wanted a fork. Food came out of the kitchen quickly. Lunch specials are cheap enough. My friend had a Chicken Box (grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce); I had the Korean-style Bulgoki Box (pan fried marinated sirloin beef). Both were good but nothing special. If this was closer to the office, I might be inclined to try it again for more of the menu. Worth a try if you are local. read more

I've been coming to Lee's since it opened and since have become acquainted with each member of their staff, who are friendly and dedicated to their customers beyond belief (including Mr. Lee himself). Upon being seated (which is near instantly), you're served vinegar seaweed salad and spicy rice, which is delicious. The staff is so attentive, that as soon as you turn your head, they're at your side. Also, before you leave they serve you with some type of refreshing desert - needless to say you won't leave hungry. Each sushi chef has years of experience and caters to each customer's needs (allergens) and taste buds. Their rolls are priced evenly in line with all the other sushi places in the area but are SO tasty. The fish is fresh and brought into the restaurant each day. I have to add, since becoming a frequent customer, they've gone the extra mile for accommodating me, my large family, and all of our birthdays (with a special cake!). I couldn't give more of a positive recommendation for Lees, and will always recommend them. read more

4 stars for the lunch deals, bento boxes, and their korean fare. 2 stars for sushi. For sushi, I would definitely go elsewhere...it's not a good value, the fish does not taste as fresh here, and the flavoring/combo's don't always make sense on the makis. I got the Katsu Bento Box for lunch last weekend; bf got the Kalbee Bento. The dumplings and tempura that came in the box were very soggy and oily - not crisp at all, but the main dishes were very good (especially the kalbee beef - at that price, I was expecting a lot worse). I got spicy tuna with my box, or more like xtraxtra spicy tuna.. it had so (/too) much of a kick I actually gave it all to my bf. We also ordered a scorpion roll to share - it was naaasty. The inside was warm, but not crunchy (I guess they just really can't do tempura well?), and the outside was cold and mushy. Not an appetizing combo. BUTTTT the bento boxes are soo worth it, and the korean dishes (for the area) are dependably yummy and comfy (make sure to ask for kimchi!). The service is attentive, the interior is roomy, and I love the free mini 'yogurt' drink at the end - cute and authentic touch. This is by far my favorite sushi/Korean restaurant in the area... The food is always sooo delicious, the servers are sooo friendly, and they are so affordable, too! If you dine there, youll get free seaweed and yummy spicy rice. Lee's Sushi is the best... I go at least once a week, often more! I usually get just a spicy rainbow roll and miso soup, and with all the free extras, I always leave feeling full. Or, try the gop dol bi bim bap, but ask for tofu instead of beef (its soooo amazing) or the jap chae noodles. i replace the beef in that with shrimp and its sooo good. oo or the tofu tempura... thats delicious, too!! ive never had a bad meal here. Best service you can ask for, the minute you walk in you are greeted and never have to wait. If you do have to wait they apologize a million times and do their best to sit you as soon as possible You get free seaweed and sushi rice (it's amazing) and the sushi rolls are delicious at a great price. I was introduced to Lee's by my girlfriend who grew up nearby and loves their sushi. She has converted me to be a fan! We normally get take out from here but they also are a BYOB, which is a plus. I went here after reading the relatively great reviews on here, and I must say I was pretty disappointed. Between my brother and I, we ordered a seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll, eel avocado roll, spicy lobster roll, and yellowtail scallion roll. I thought the rolls all had a weird aftertaste and the spices seemed off. I am really not picky when it comes to sushi, but I didn't like these basic rolls at all. On the plus side, I have never been to a sushi restaurant that offers freebies. Here, they give you complimentary seaweed salad, spicy rice served in a clamshell, and a miniature sweet juice for "dessert." I have heard the dinner box and other meals are good, but unfortunately I would not recommend going here for sushi. read more

In the past week I've dined in once and ordered take-out twice. That's how much I love this place....it is hands down the best sushi in the area. If you're dining in, they provide some free appetizers which are truly delicious! Not sure what it's called, but the seaweed in a vinegar broth(????) is REALLY good. I wish you could order it off the menu for take out! There is also spicy rice that is VERY spicy but VERY good! The sushi rolls are sometimes cut in really large pieces (usually for the specialty rolls) but are still manageable to eat. Haven't had much else off of the menu, but my friends all have and love the noodles & sashimi just as much. I've never had a problem with take out! They are prompt and the food is of the sawn quality as it would be if ordered in the restaurant. All in all I don't have a single complaint! Enjoy! :) read more

Go here for lunch frequently. Sushi is decent. Try the spicy columbia roll-although its more like a meal. Korean food is the best. Try the hwe dup bap 48 delicious raw fish salad. The gob dol bi bim bap is amazing if you want to try beef instead of sushi that day. The service is so so depending on which server you get. Make sure you ask for kimchi. The food here is so good, sincerely. They do cost a little more than other places, buttheir quality is amazing. They give little yogurts afterwards that my ten year old loves big time. They are very kind there and it is a nice location with very large bathrooms. They make it comfortable. It is very clean there too, which is important. My only problem with this place is to order from them. I live really close by but it took a very long time to receive food. I tend to eat there or order and wait to bring it home, depending on my mood, but the one time I waited for delivery, it took 45 minutes when they said it would take 20. He also personally delivers food which his nice. Definitely a hard worker and very dedicated to his business. Lee's sushi, though they have tasty sushi, the rolls I had were falling apart big time. Coming unravelled. Have only ordered take out but not a fan. The rolls were not tightly put together so they fell apart when eating them. And they weren't anything special. One of the more expensive rolls we ordered only had 5 pieces which was kind of strange. And the fried rice wasn't very good. We will keep looking for a regular sushi place. read more

And boy, do I mean eager! We barely had a chance to sit before they came over to take our order, and they hovered over us while we decided. My friend's $9 lunch box was HUGE - definitely a great value. I opted for sushi, but found myself fairly underwhelmed by their sushi offerings. I settled on the Spicy Dragon, which was simply spicy tuna with avocado on top. It was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. If you're used to or have been to a korean owned japanese place, this place does not veer too far from the standard japanese/korean cuisine. They have a variety of bento boxes (fried rice, cali roll, dumplings, salad and a main meat). On top of sushi, udon and bento boxes, they have a good range of korean dishes. Simple Jjigaes and bulgogi-type dishes. I had the pork katsu bento - the katsu was a bit on the thinner side and drenched in katsu sauce - so order the sauce on the side if you're looking get katsu. Other than that, it was pretty standard - nothing stood out to me. My friends got hwe-dub bap - korean version of chirashi bowl - and shrimp tempura udon. Good portions and great price. We ordered take out from here after hearing a lot of positive feedback on the place. I have to say I was disappointed. We ordered edame & it was under steamed, the shrimp sumai had a weird taste. The Tuna Takei was good. Lobster roll was not good, the boston roll had way too much mayo. The pieces of Ebi(shrimp) were extremely small.
