I wanted to give this place a try for a quick lunch. I ordered the yaki udon. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and the food wasn't quite done so I paid while I waited. When it arrived I left. When I dug in the udon was very good. I enjoyed the flavor and the cut-up chicken. It was all in all a good experience and I would return.

So good! Taka is easily my favorite sushi restaurant in North Jersey. This place has not changed at all in the last 25 years, and the quality of the food has stayed just as great. The list of specialty rolls is massive, like four pages long, so there really is something for everyone. My personal favorites are the ISO roll and White Angel roll. They also offer oysters and even some Chinese food options. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating, especially the owner, Annie. Great for takeout, too!

I first went to Taka when I worked at the Brownstone about 20 years ago and I would go pickup sushi for when people chose it for their parties. This is the only menu item that the Brownstone didn't make themselves, but that's another review. Taka has the best sushi around. It's mine and my wife's favorite. You used to be able to go there and eat in. We would go for their lunch special which comes with a delicious soup and salad. The service was always good. The sushi is freshly prepared using good ingredients and the prices are very reasonable. I've never had a bad experience or been disappointed with that food here. They are currently open for pickup/takeout and have 2 tables available for outside dining. If your looking for the best sushi and or authentic Japanese food, look no further.

Consistently delicious Japanese food at Taka! This restaurant is our go-to neighborhood Japanese spot in Wayne, NJ. Annie, the manager at Taka, is always around and is very kind and professional. She makes awesome recommendations... seriously had some of the best quality, generously portioned, and reasonably priced fatty tuna! The specials on the menu are always changing and Taka makes an effort to offer the freshest ingredients with a twist, sometimes incorporating fruits and unique sauces into their dishes. Although already well-priced, Taka also has some great lunch special deals that are worth taking advantage of! They don't compromise quality or portions for price. Taka offers BYOB! I have brought my own wine on numerous occasions and the server is more than happy to cork the bottle (free of charge), ice it and serve it throughout our meal. Best sushi in Wayne! Love the staff and food. Highly recommend!

Went in with high expectations and was disappointed. Walked in and thought that the restaurant was closed because literally no one was there... The interior design is very old and needs to be updated ASAP cause it looks pretty dusty. The waitress was nice at first but then was pretty rude, she was on the phone while she attended us and we didn't know if she was talking to us or the person on her headphones. She pushed us to order an appetizer, the spicy tuna dumpling, and it was good but we didn't like how brute she was when she came to split the food between us 3 like if we were children while talking on the phone. I ordered the Taka House Roll, my mom ordered the salmon teriyaki plate and my sister order the ISO roll. My mom's salad was definitely not fresh and looked like it was in the fridge for a week. Our sushi seemed fresh and it came out on the plate looking nice, between our appetizer and sushi it filled us up. The ISO roll was definitely the better of the two rolls. We took some sushi and salmon home and I tried to eat it the next day and it was pretty bad and stale, so I do not recommend taking any of their food home.

Make sure you look for another sushi restaurant. I asked the waitress why she doesn't give me regular plates like the other people dining in? And she told me that only special customers have the privilege to eat with ceramic plates.

Ordered again for the third or fourth time in 2 months. I'm legitimately addicted! 9 or 10 specialty rolls and some apps and entrees for the kiddos. You just can't beat their rolls anywhere in Wayne. Period. Pop the Sauvignon Blanc and strap on the feed bag!

    Spicy Kani Salad. Very good

Had a nice date night with my hubby here for early dinner and it was a pleasant experience. I…read morereally like the vibe in this place. The bar is super nice, the presentation is really there. As far as the food goes, my husband and I both agree that it's good and worthy of a re-visit in the future however, it wasn't blow your socks off! I got the chicken ramen and I literally got two pieces of chicken in my ramen....i was definitely expecting more than that. My husband got the chicken chashu and he said it was a solid option. I want to be so clear that this five star review is based off of our fantastic server, Yosef. He was so friendly, so personable and an overall pleasant worker! He made conversation with us and made sure we had everything we needed to have the best experience. Nowadays, people are so unfriendly and just there to collect a check. JINYA, you are very lucky to have a worker of this nature! Thank you for making our dinner a great experience. We will gladly be back in the future to try another dish and hopefully get the same wonderful customer service.

My last favorite was in a food court inside of a mall!" "It feels like it's the next evolution in the Tommy's Tavern-Tio Taco's takeover of high-quality spots all across our great state!" (But each statement is said, and meant, with sincerity.) It's large (high ceilings adding to the 'wow factor'). It has a great look and vibe. The entire staff are profusely positive. As for the ramen... the broth was chock-a-block with flavor and veggies and noodles and a whole array of goodies (black oil, crispy garlic nubs, creamy tofu, you name it). The Mrs. (who is the real connoisseur when it comes to ramen, I'm just a wannabe) thought the portion was a bit on the 'wimpy' side (for the price) but I was content. (We arrived at the tail-end of happy hour, so maybe I was a bit more forgiving since the bill wasn't as bad as it could've-would've been.)

One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had…read more Let me start by saying this is no longer a BYOB restaurant, despite giving every impression that it still is. There is no clear notice that they now have a liquor license, yet they charge a $10 corkage fee per bottle--or require one drink per person to waive the fee. This feels misleading from the start. After a long and frustrating discussion with our waitress--who couldn't clearly explain the policy--a man (who never identified himself as a manager or in any official role) came over. Even after more back-and-forth, the policy remained unclear until we were told definitively: one drink per person to waive the cork fee. By that point, we had already purchased a drink. We decided to stay, as we've dined here many times before without issues. Unfortunately, things only got worse. We specifically asked for our appetizers and entrees to be timed separately. Instead, our main courses arrived while we were still halfway through our appetizers. Then came the biggest issue: the beef teriyaki. The meat was inedible--extremely undercooked, with a bloody taste and raw interior. We immediately stopped eating and called the waitress over. She told us, quite confidently, that it was filet mignon. It absolutely was not. We asked to speak again with the same gentleman. When questioned, he immediately contradicted her and said it was not filet mignon--but then admitted he didn't know what cut of meat it actually was. He went to the kitchen and came back still unable to identify it, only saying it was "beef." At that point, offering us ice cream as compensation felt almost insulting. We asked for the dish to be removed from the bill. Instead, the waitress returned with three cups of vanilla ice cream--and the charge for the dish was still on the bill. We paid and left, including a 20% tip for the waitress, as the issues seemed more systemic than entirely her fault. Be advised: this is not a BYOB restaurant anymore, and based on this experience, I would strongly recommend proceeding with caution.
