'Tokyo Sushi' is a small to medium sized venue inside of a strip mall, so there is easy free parking. Stereotypical interior with Japanese themes and art. The walls are lined with photos of people who have visited. The staff experience was fast and friendly. A very relaxed and easygoing atmosphere. The sushi itself, we had Family Roll, Salmon Sushi, Black Dragon Roll, Naruto Roll, Miso Soup, complimentary Crab Tempura. The rolls were all good and definitely good choices. Solid and fresh sushi, with many kinds of special rolls, and good lunch specials. I opt for rolls here as the variety is lacking when it comes to sashimi (only the basics like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, white tuna. No mackerel, snapper, fluke, bass, uni, ikura, scallop, etc.). But in the immediate Haskell/Wanaque/Ringwood area this is definitely the best sushi restaurant around. And they have bubble tea! The people here are very nice (the hostess I'm usually greeted by is super sweet), and they often give you little treats and samples on the house. I absolutely love this place. We moved to the area a few months ago and have been here twice and can confidently say that we found our go to sushi restaurant. First of all the people who run it are beyond friendly. Incredibly sweet from the moment you walk in. The woman who does front of house was chatting with my young daughter and made us feel very welcome. She gave her some coconut crackers to take home and they were delicious. The food is just as great. The sushi is so good and is presented beautifully and the dumplings were delicious. The prices are great. You can't beat this place. I can't wait to go back. read more

Great experience! Party of 4 for an early dinner on a Saturday. Staff took care of us immediately, with a smile. We ordered 4 Special Rolls and 4 regular rolls to share. A complimentary roll appetizer was delivered right after we ordered. It was so good, we were really looking forward to the actual meal. It did not disappoint. The fish was fresh, delicious, and the portions were large. The Kani Girl roll was a favorite. Before the check was delivered, we were given a complimentary taste of bananas and mochi (a frozen sweet rice cake). This will be our sushi go-to spot from now on. read more

I've ordered from this place a four or five times since moving into the area, and it's top tier sushi for sure. Everything is fresh and well prepared. The specialty rolls feel somehow irresponsibly decadent. A few times I've gotten takeout they've thrown some extras in there too, like a side of edamame or pork dumplings! Overall, I couldn't recommend this place enough if you like sushi. It's easy to pass by (kind of nudged into a little shopping center) but it's definitely worth seeking out. read more

The waitress was at our table immediately to take our drink order (all non-alcoholic. Not sure whether it's byob). My friend ordered the miso soup and the shrimp lunch box. Her serving was substantial and she did enjoy it,. I ordered two rolls, a salmon and a tuna avocado, along with a classic Japanese side salad. The fish was very fresh and tasty. My favorite sushi restaurant in NY-NJ metropolitan area. You would have to go to Tokyo, Japan to find better. The fish is always ridiculously fresh and firm. I really enjoy sashimi and this is always exquisitely prepared here They are very creative with their sushi rolls. Try most anything on the menu that says "crispy" and you'll be experiencing mouthfuls of joy. If it is listed, do not miss their tuna tartare. So good. Our waitress was so sweet to our kids and very attentive. They even gave us a free roll! Kamikaze roll was our favorite. The salmon, tobiko and yellowtail sushi were perfect. A few improvements could be made. The low sodium soy sauce was old (maybe only use low sodium so it never gets stale). The sashimi was cut too thick. Mango roll is way too much mango. Highly recommend!! And we are sushi snobs (especially my daughter who LOVED this spot). read more

A warm, clean and spiritual atmosphere with attentive service and high quality Japanese food prepared simply but with strong attention to detail. The menu offered something for everyone and began and ended with complimentary offerings. I cannot say enough about the pumpkin soup. Even though two of us keep gluten-free, we enjoyed the full gamut of lunch specials including shrimp terriaki, sashimi and sushi. The portion size was just right for an active family.
