The Asian Chicken salad was so flavorful with the basil, mint, cilantro, cabbage, peanuts, jicima & cucumber...and the dressing. Absolutely perfect. I phoned ahead and my salad was ready promptly. This place is cafeteria style -- order at the front and find a table. I had the seasonal salad, which was delicious. The strawberries went well with the chèvre although I usually do not like goat cheese at all. I didn't even realize chèvre was goat cheese until my first bite, but I got rid of the larger clumps and found the salad to be pretty tasty despite my disdain for goat cheese. The strawberries definitely helped. My husband had the BBQ chicken wrap that was huuuuge. I didn't have any, but he said it was delicious. The wait for the food did take quite awhile, so be prepared. read more

Found this place when looking for soup a couple summers ago. Awesome place to go for some fresh food and a good variety of options for vegetarians. I usually get the seasonal salad (without the goat cheese if that's included) or if it's in season, the apple and brie panini. Every sandwich is served with a salad or bread. Portions are a good size (frequently end up with leftovers) and the staff is very nice and attentive. Perfect place to grab food on a spring/summer day or even in the dead of winter. We used Leaf & Ladle to cater a brunch at our home for out of town guests. It was the day after our wedding and we were looking for casual, but good food. Leaf & Ladle provided a great, delicious spread that lasted a good 4 hours as guests came and nibbled. Yummy, fresh and satisfying. The wraps could be split since they were so substantial. The range of food restrictions that they accommodate worked well for my small group, the staff were very friendly, and the food was served quickly. The atmosphere is decidedly casual, with counter service ordering, a variety of different furniture styles, and a bus your own dishes style. The prices are not super cheap but are reasonable, and the soup (curried cauliflower) and sandwich I had were very good! Even in Bellingham it's not easy to find a place that specializes in Vegan food. Most have "Vegan options" which usually means limited substitutes for meat and cheese. But if you are looking for creative, delicious meals crafted just for plant eaters, L&L has what you need. It was my first visit, so I picked the Vegan BLTA wrap. I wasn't sure what the "A" stood for but now I'm convinced it means "AWESOME". The Vegan Tempeh and coconut bacon was crunchy, savory, and well spaced among the healthy greens that filled this thing. My side order was more greens with a fabulous dressing. I picked up a Vegan manicotti dish to go and my expectations are high. The only downside to L&L could be that your favorites are not always on the menu. My impression from their Facebook page is that it rotates often. But with the kind of creativity of the cooks here, I'm looking forward to the unknown. *UPDATE* The Vegan manicotti was fantastic. The bar has been set high for my next visit! read more

I don't know how they claimed to have lots of gluten free options. They do not carry gluten free bread. I like that they had some healthy soup and salads, but the only gluten free option for sandwiches is a tortilla. The food took forever even though the place was not very busy. The sandwich was okay but the pork was not well seasoned and the bread was soggy. House salad has good dressing but was literally about a cup of some Costco mixed greens and nothing else!! No nuts, fruit, fresh veggies or anything. And it was $4.00!!! Unreal. Finally, I saw one of the women making food itch her bare armpit with gloves on and then continue to prepare food without changing them. Ew. Bad food, overpriced, and unclean. Went for takeout, a friend got the vegan Mediterranean seasonal panini, I got the Turkey pesto, and YUM! Staff was super nice and helpful. I'm usually not a meat eater but I decided to branch out and the panini did not disappoint. However, the vegan seasonal panini was the star of the show.
