This place was delicious and comforting. You must get the curry with the chicken katsu. They had plenty of seats with easy parking on the streets. It was great for a quick lunch after a hike. read more

What friendly awesome service, love these people! What a cute place too. Weather was nice so they open up the front side. Food was delicious. I had the Chow Fun with chicken, not doe the faint of heart with the spice. Portion was HUGE! Get double your protein and it will make a perfect sharable. Beautiful tables and art work for extra points :) read more

We recently got to check out Ono when one of our fave comedians, Sam Miller, was performing there. I'd never been to Ono, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was located in the legendary Kombucha Town spot under the Herald Building. "Back in the day" we had a few great Yelp events in this exact space! Anyway... we were glad we arrived early, and were able to snag one of the last tables for our group of 4. We ordered a couple of beers and (at the bartender's urging) got our food order in because they were starting to get slammed. The Dude enjoyed his tasty bao buns, and I slumped down a hearty bowl of hot noodle soup with chicken. It was all delicious! As showtime got closer, the place was packed full with comedy fans. The bar line got long, and we could tell the servers felt a little frantic. Maybe they weren't expecting such a huge crowd, but I feel like things would have gone more smoothly if they'd been able to upstaff for the event. It was a great show and nice to add yet another cool spot to my 26-in-26 Collection on Yelp! read more

Ordinarily I wouldn't return to a place (and write a review) so quickly, but I really liked Ono when I first came, which was during the Bellingham Folk Festival. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to experience Ono's on a regular night. I was not disappointed. Ingrid, who served me the last time, was my server again. And she is wonderful! My companion and I were well cared for. Tonight's music was performed by CJ Helekahi, who is a regular on Fridays, I understand: wonderful! The beverages were great as usual. I wasn't really into the Bao Tacos like I thought I would be, but I absolutely could not stop exclaiming over the Ahi Nachos and the Garlic Shrimp. In each instance, the sauce was spectacular! I was practically licking the basket when the food was gone. And the shrimp, themselves, were large, juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked--not a nanosecond over or under--just fabulous. Enjoyed the iced dessert: GURi GURi. All in all, another wonderful experience. Sweet place. Very Hawaiian feeling to me--love it. read more

This spot was tucked away and I am so glad I stopped by. I had never heard of Ono before but was pleasantly surprised. The food was incredible and very unique. When I went there was a musician playing quiet ukelele in the background and the atmosphere was pleasant. Service was quick and efficient. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. read more

Ono Kitchen has been holding a solid spot in my top three restaurants in Bham for years. Just grabbed dinner from them for the umpteenth time last night and we've been talking all day about how it's one of the few places in Bham that has found the delicate balance between Taste, Quality Ingredients, Portion Size and Price. *Plus the curry bowl is amazing and only $8!!! read more

Da Burger. Ahh finally a teriyaki burger that reminds me of Bubba Burger on Kauai! Drippingly delicious. Their menu looks so stunning, but I can't help it- I end up getting Da Burger every time. read more

It's clear that the staff would rather not have any guests. Tried it twice, the food was definitely fine, but the atmosphere created by the standoffish crew is not something I wish to return to. Both times I came in, solo and with my partner, everybody just looked pissed off and were slow to extend a breath of hospitatility. I don't need that in my life. read more

Service was very good, we didn't sit at the bar but the tables were still nice. Food was very yummy. We got the okra chips, musubi, edamame, and fried chicken as appetizers. We liked all of them except the fried chicken and the edamame. Usually we love edamame but it was a bit flavorless, could have used salt. For entrees I got the loco moco, which was delicious. It reminded me of Salisbury steak, but better. My partner got the Mahi burger which he really enjoyed as well. we did not get any alcoholic drinks but the coconut water was yummy and I got the "pog" which I'd never had before but it was kinda fruity and pretty good. read more

Brought our family here for lunch and WOW! Our boys love Hawaiian food and this did not disappoint. I think it was the best chicken katsu I've ever had. We ended up with a few entres and each was amazing! Our server was awesome and guided us to some amazing choices. The artwork was wonderful and I'm so excited to come back the next time we're in town! read more

I added the house Hawaiian chili water and a few drops of their smoked shoyu to the Spam musubi, and transformed it into a 5-star, blue ribbon dish. Then I had their Chicken Katsu lunch plate (served in a giant bowl), and it was life-changing. Perfectly cooked chicken breast with a delicate and crispy fry. This was served with their gingery house katsu sauce, a huge scoop of Spam macaroni salad, fresh kimchi, and seasoned rice. I'm a huge fan. Beautiful open space with occasional live music and comfy bar offering local beer and creative cocktails. read more

"First time at Ono's and I absolutely loved it! The place is so peaceful and calm, with friendly service that doesn't bother you while you're eating--which I really appreciated. I tried the Shoyu Chicken P. Lunch and it was juicy and full of flavor. I also loved the Bao Fish Tacos and the Kalua Pig--so tasty, yum! It was so good that I'm coming back today with two more people, even though I live an hour away!" I'm really excited to try there LOCO MOCOOOO! read more

The food here is so amazing. Hawaiian Japanese cuisine is a beautiful fusion and its rare to find this level of flavor. Myself and two friends went to celebrate his birthday. We've all had lots of Hawaiian food - and have high standards. The drinks were very yummy, and the complementary pineapple with li hing powder was great. The food was so-so. The best thing we got was the shoyu chicken - besides that we got the bao bun tacos with kalua pig, the root vegetable salad, and the poké. The poké was not worth the money, it wasn't very good, and the chicken wings that we had were very fatty. It's also very loud and echoey in there! If we go back we'll probably just get drinks and apps. read more

Excellent location service, food and ambiance! Has it all in one convenient location! Shared the pulled pork shoulder bao tacos, the pork belly tacos and the chicken katsu plate! Could not be happier! The flavors all came together perfectly! The bao was so soft! The chicken katsu crunch really made the plate a great hit! Plenty of leftovers to take home! Good parking available right out front, love the garage door open concept! Great music and vibe! Definitely recommend! read more

We're from Hawaii and picky about our local food, many choices but some were hit and miss. The best value is the plate lunch with kalua pork, Mac salad, rice and Kim chee. We tried the poke and it needed more flavor- maybe choices of spicy mayo, shoyu or wasabi would help. The chicken wings were a fav our table but a full order is only four large wings, we had to order another order since there were 5 of us. Ramen had grilled pork belly which was excellent but we didn't like the noodle, it was too starchy for our taste. There was only a bartender who also was our server. She did her best considering she was solo. Would we go again, probably not since there are many other dining options in the area. read more

Man, this place is great! Went here tonight for the first time with some family from out of town. Went were seated immediately, service was on point. Everyone was super friendly and attentive, brought us wetnaps for the wings, which were easily my favorite wings I've had in town. The ahi nachos are one-of-a-kind and very good. We had a wide variety of entrees in our group of 8 so we got to try a lot of different stuff, all very good. Pacing was great, everything came out in good order and timely even though there were a lot of people there. We got the bartender's choice cocktails and they were super good! we also got dessert which was some really good purple cheesecake which I don't remember what it was called but some type of Hawaiian root maybe? and then some special Hawaiian soft serve sorbet-type-stuff that was super refreshing and a perfect cap to a great ensemble of interesting and delicious items. Thanks Ono! We will be back!!! read more

Pro: I will give onos props and high praise for their simplistic menu to follow. Those chefs are amazing! Hospitality was amazing and the ambiance was good Excellent food! Con: over all my only gripe I legitimately have is the silverware in the spam cans and the pirate bottle water. It feels cliche of an average hipster restaurant trying to be avant-garde and different as far as silverware and dining goes besides that I really enjoyed the place read more

The vegetarian options are grim. It's so easy to make a tofu poke bowl, tofu musubi, vegan patty loco moco, tofu as a choice of protein, vegan gravy, etc. Theres a misconception that vegan food is bland and raw. It can be tasty and filling just like meat dishes. This spot is just another place in bellingham that is not worth checking out if you or your friends are wanting meat free food read more

Went in for a quick dinner and was looking forward to trying the new menu. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen, pork belly buns, and lemongrass caesar salad with chicken katsu. The food was quite bland and the ramen noodles were mushy and tasted like leftover spaghetti. The chicken katsu was the best part of the meal; the chicken was crispy and the sauce was good. Everything else on the plate was very bland. read more

Lunch plate is absolutely delicious. Also try the smoked banana old fashioned. It's nuts!

Love the concept of this place but not so happy with the food and drinks. The food menu recently changed and not for the better. Used to like the ramen but it was a huge disappointment last time. Noodles were not good at all, very much like top ramen. The ramen egg wasn't marinated and was hard cooked. The pork belly was ok, but much prefer the way it used to be prepared. Didn't like my Mai tai, wasn't even close to the real thing. They should definitely not call it a Mai tai. Overall I like the atmosphere but sadly won't be ordering food there anymore. read more

The food was amazing with a lot of gluten free options. A great find on our road trip.

Tried to really give this place a chance and tried it 3 separate times and each time it was disappointing. Everything lacks flavor and is pricey for what you get. The service and drinks are great and it's a cute spot but the most important part (the food) is not good. read more
