There are a variety of sandwich, salad, wrap, and soup options, all of which are pretty tasty, and they also have vegan cheese and gluten-free chips if you prefer/need that. The range of food restrictions that they accommodate worked well for my small group, the staff were very friendly, and the food was served quickly. The atmosphere is decidedly casual, with counter service ordering, a variety of different furniture styles, and a bus your own dishes style. The prices are not super cheap but are reasonable, and the soup (curried cauliflower) and sandwich I had were very good! Overall a nice place, although it is a bit small, and even on a Thursday the dining area was crowded, so it may not have space to sit down on weekends. read more

Even in Bellingham it's not easy to find a place that specializes in Vegan food. Most have "Vegan options" which usually means limited substitutes for meat and cheese. But if you are looking for creative, delicious meals crafted just for plant eaters, L&L has what you need. It was my first visit, so I picked the Vegan BLTA wrap. I wasn't sure what the "A" stood for but now I'm convinced it means "AWESOME". The Vegan Tempeh and coconut bacon was crunchy, savory, and well spaced among the healthy greens that filled this thing. My side order was more greens with a fabulous dressing. I picked up a Vegan manicotti dish to go and my expectations are high. The only downside to L&L could be that your favorites are not always on the menu. My impression from their Facebook page is that it rotates often. But with the kind of creativity of the cooks here, I'm looking forward to the unknown. *UPDATE* The Vegan manicotti was fantastic. The bar has been set high for my next visit! read more

I can't believe this place has good ratings. Atmosphere is cute but the place had a funky smell. I ordered the Cubano sandwich and a side house salad. The food took forever even though the place was not very busy. The sandwich was okay but the pork was not well seasoned and the bread was soggy. House salad has good dressing but was literally about a cup of some Costco mixed greens and nothing else!! No nuts, fruit, fresh veggies or anything. And it was $4.00!!! Unreal. Finally, I saw one of the women making food itch her bare armpit with gloves on and then continue to prepare food without changing them. Ew. Bad food, overpriced, and unclean. Went for takeout, a friend got the vegan Mediterranean seasonal panini, I got the Turkey pesto, and YUM! Staff was super nice and helpful. I'm usually not a meat eater but I decided to branch out and the panini did not disappoint. However, the vegan seasonal panini was the star of the show. It was so good and so flavorful (I got to try half). Even if you aren't vegan I would 100% recommend it. I don't know how they claimed to have lots of gluten free options. They do not carry gluten free bread. I like that they had some healthy soup and salads, but the only gluten free option for sandwiches is a tortilla. Oh my dear goodness I love this little spot. It does not even matter what kind of weird diet or allergy you're dealing with, these gals have you covered. Vegetarian? Vegan? Gluten free? Yup you're covered. My favorite part is that the menu is always changing. Usually I feel lucky if I go to a place and there are 2 gluten free entrees to choose from. Here, there are a solid handful, and they change all the time so I'm not eating the same meal every time! The ladies here are super careful about food safety and cross contamination, too. I really wanted to love this place, especially after so many amazing reviews. I have walked by many times but due to their limited hours (M-F, 11-4) I hadn't been able to stop by until now. I walked in right behind a gentleman who must be a regular. The elder of the two ladies greeted him, he placed his order and he sat down to chat with her while his food was prepared. I looked at the menu, excited to see several choices that looked amazing and went up to place my order. I selected the vegan BLT wrap and a cup of the thai coconut soup. The younger woman asked if I wanted greens or chips. I asked her what the chips were and she got annoyed and said they were just chips. I chose greens upon seeing the bag of greasy potato chips on the counter and wanted to dine in, despite the limited seating, I then made the mistake of being friendly, telling her that I was glad I could finally try this restau.... She cut me off mid sentence with a "uh-huh". I was so taken aback at her rudeness that I wanted to leave then and there. The other customer was still in a friendly conversation with the other lady and it was such a strange juxtaposition being me being cut off and him chatting away. I changed my order to go, no longer wishing to be there but hopeful about the food. I took my wrap and soup home. The wrap looked amazing and tasted wonderful going down but was incredibly greasy. I had to wash my hand several times. I liked how they put the wrap on the grill, giving the tortilla a good crunch. After eating the wrap, I feel gross. The soup? Ew! I had two bites and had to throw the rest away. It smelled funny when I opened it. The coconut broth was okay but the mushy, olive colored vegetable mess at the bottom was inedible. Maybe I should give it another chance before dismissing it forever. But I am not tempted. There are so many great places downtown and life is too short. read more

Wonderful little place. Incredible food! Soups, wraps, sandwiches are all fresh and awesome tasting. My wife and I are vegans so for us, this place is heaven. I found this place and we have been frequenting it for about a year, really enjoying the healthy soups very much. However, lately more than once, we have noticed employees taking money and touching food without washing hands. If they don't touch the food directly we watch and have found them frequently reaching for to go soup containers and sticking fingers inside them before filling,etc. These unsanitary practices are really ruining an otherwise wonderful establishment. Please take this criticism for what it's worth and make your employees follow basic food safe guidelines and common sense hygiene when touching our food and food containers when they are handling money. We have also noticed the way you store your disposable (compostable) utensils. These should be stored in the containers with the handles up so that employees can reach for the handles instead of the parts that we place in our mouths. We won't be coming back anytime soon because we like to trust that food handlers are both trained in food safety and won't take shortcuts. This saddens us because we still really feel that whomever started this business has a great potential because the soups and sandwiches are very nice. Let me conclude by saying that we have also had the good fortune of being there and seeing one or two specific young girls who do take money and do follow safe food handling. I wish I had their names but I don't. Unfortunately we have seen too many others not doing their job with integrity. read more

Everything I hoped for and more!! The green chile pork stew is savory rich goodness that makes you think of mama. The brie/apple/ham panini blew my boyfriend away, there was a very generous helping of brie and the crunchiness of the bread was spot on. I had the Asian wrap... I normally don't order wraps but I did based on the review in the Bellingham Herald and I am SO glad I did. Perfect flavor, perfect texture. The owner grills half of the wrap so you get a super satisfying combination of soft wrap and crunchy grilled texture. This place feels like being in the home kitchen of someone you love. The owner is engaging, sweet, funny, and loves to chat with you while she whips up your food right before your eyes. This is a true local spot, the feeling of community you get when you walk in is priceless. This is definitely our new favorite place for lunch. We can't wait to go back!! read more

I'm frustrated with this place. The soup is usually good, though occasionally they don't prep the ingredients very well and you wind up with HUGE CHUNKS of stuff in there, which is lazy. Lately the service has been hit or miss. Also, the business hours and the delivery hours and completely different, so if you become a regular customer here, you're SOL if you have limited mobility and want to have this place for lunch. It seems like they're not interested in "extra work" of delivery? It makes me strongly question what has happened to the management of this place. What a shame. read more

Very fresh and delicious; huge portions; cheap for what you get. I tried a bite of the curry chicken special (which was delish), and ordered the Asian wrap (wow!). So yummy. This is a great spot for a delicious quick bite or some take-away. The ingredients are always quality and the flavors are delicious. Their most recent vegan sandwich had some cilantro sauce on it that was absolutely amazing and was probably the best sandwich I've ever had. I wish they'd bring it back! I liked it more than their current vegan sandwich (the one with the quinoa patty) but that one is still pretty darn good. My husband always gets the BBQ wrap and it is also really good. Their cookies, soups (cauliflower curry in particular), and selection of drinks are good too. Their bathroom always has some uplifting, kind words written on the wall, too. I hope they can expand to have more locations near Seattle at some point, as I'm going to miss this place when I move! read more
