We received a warm welcome on a Tuesday evening during the September sizzle dining event. We'd actually tried to get in to Modern Blackbird Asian which had just opened in the past few weeks. We called them seeking a reservation & was told they were only taking walk Ins at that time. We went over to the restaurant only to be greeted by complete chaos with throngs of people and the harassed hostess to tell us it was at least an hours' wait. Good for them as the new place in town but no good for our party for 4. So we beat a hasty retreat to Le Colonial. It was a wise decision! We were enthusiastically greeted & immediately seated on the pretty outdoor patio area. We were a party of 4 and all opted for dishes from the sizzle dinner menu. Everything was faultless, the server was attentive and we had a wonderful time. This was our 3rd visit to Le Colonial. It's in a great spot right on 5th. It never disappoints and always delivers. Cocktails and then dinner for 4 tonight. When booking was asked if any occasion; mentioned one person's birthday. When we checked in the hostess noted to me " celebrating someone's birthday I see". Only reservation available was 4:30PM. We arrived at 4 and waited in the beautiful bar on a banquette. The bar server was prompt. Gave some guidance about cocktails. The Old Fashioned is $30. Most cocktails are $20-22. She never mentioned there were happy hour specials. We later found them discreetly hidden on the menu. They include several wines at $10 per glass and 3 apps at ~$10 each. One is an egg roll cut into 3 pieces, one is 4 pieces of spring roll ( NOT 4 spring rolls, 4 pieces) and one is what I would call a "fruit-dish size "of crispy Brussels sprouts. All were fine. All were small. Dinner menu is unfortunately rather uninspiring. It really is simply Asian Food, fancied up a bit. The green papaya salad was the best thing we had. It was shareable. It was as good as most of the neighborhood Asian restaurants I have eaten it at back home in Pennsylvania, which feels to me not to be a terribly high standard, but it was enjoyable. The $40 halibut was moist and fresh and moderate in size, it was served with lovely garnishes. No sides. All sides are a la carte and are called "shareable". The eggplant and pickled veggie sides are SMALL. I mean SMALL. The eggplant may have had 4 pieces. The green beans side was shareable. Server forgot our Garlic noodles ( the side she had suggested as the " best") but she did have them on the bill :- ( At the end of the meal she brought our check, no mention of birthday at all (except recall it was mentioned when checking in at the hostess stand). Not sure why they ask about special occassions when you make reservation. The ladies room is attractive. The dining room feels classy and comfortable. Lighting is pleasing. My overall impression was "Americanized Asian Food" / NOT enough French Fusion. I remember dining at Le Colonial when it was open in Philadelphia (many years ago). My recollection is that it was much more memorable. I wish I had taken more fotos to share here tonight. read more

I took my husband to le colonial Naples for his birthday, and it just did not live up to the hype. We started the meal out with the chicken potstickers which were OK but a little pricey for only six my main course was the shrimp stirfry which was OK but I left the restaurant hungry and it was an expensive bill and all the great restaurants in Naples I will never go back to this one, it was a big disappointment. The staff was not ready to be dealing with customers. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Le Colonial was very intimidating when i looked at the menu. Very cool restaurant and our server did a great job helping us understand the how to order. We had 2 small plates, 2 large plates and 2 sides all to feed 4 people...we were stuffed! Everything was delicious, lots of garlic and the spicy shrimp was very hot but had great flavor. The star was the garlic noodles which is a side. Drinks were good and reasonably priced! We were there in Oct a week after hurricane Milton and the only res they had left was 7:45 and the place was packed! We will be back...if we can get in! read more

We were seated at the worst table in the restaurant. Cars and street on one side and the computer service station on the other. There were lots of other tables available. The service was less than average. The server took our order and we never saw her again till bringing our bill. Our son has a nut allergy and she did not know which dish's had nuts. I am not sure why I spent $46 for chicken and a few pickled vegetables. Go if you want to be the "in" crowd. Go elsewhere if you want a good experience at a more reasonable price. This restaurant is all about the beautiful artwork and ambiance. Sadly, the overpriced food does not live up to the hype. We had the Heritage pork rib appetizer which was quite good. However, the Bo Luc Lac / Shaking Beef was disappointing. The beef was not caramelized and was insubstantial. Most of the plate was taken up by lettuce. It was a glorified $46 beef salad! The garlic noodles were tasteless. I had better garlic noodles at PF Chang. Worse of all was the $15 dessert. We had the Apple upside down cake. It was the tiniest dessert I have ever seen at a restaurant. It was served on a huge plate, but the cake itself spanned only 3 cranberries in size. I don't mine paying high prices for fine food, but in this case, the food was quite disappointing. I wonder, did they spend so much money on the decor that they had to cut back on the food? I mean, how much does it cost to make a slightly bigger dessert, just some flour, sugar and butter. read more

Dined here tnite for the first time and it was 5 star all the way. Restaurant is gorgeous, very elegant. Had waited three weeks to secure a reservation and 100% worth it. I do read other reviews and knew we wanted to try the shrimp and pork egg rolls and the salmon. Waitress... she was lovely btw, recommended them as well. They were amazing as was the salmon entree. We also had the garlic noodles.... Delicious. Finished off with the Vietnamese coffee and the tapioca dessert. Both were unique and will definitely repeat. This restaurant is gorgeous with good acoustics which I always appreciate. Everyone enjoyed their entrees however the appetizers were unsatisfactory. The wines by the glass were fine but overpriced. My main complaint concerned a request that I needed to avoid cilantro. The waiter assured me that my selection was without cilantro. It wasn't. Bummer! read more

HUGE FAN! Hoping for a reservation on January 6 around 5. I have been to this restaurant since their beginning on Beverly in Los Angeles. It was the scene! Old school Hollywood at its finest! It is the real deal if you are looking for something unique. I frequent the one in Houston a couple times a year alone when I go to MDA and never feel lonely because the staff is top notch and they retain the best. They remember a face and are always happy to see me! Now to the food. It is French Vietnamese. Order what sounds good to you. Everything is delicious. The salmon is melt in your mouth The seabass is excellent. The egg rolls you wrap in butter lettuce. Patience because you don't want to burn your mouth on these babies. You have a palate to enjoy the rest of the menu. Portions are generous. This is the kind of old school charm of a restaurant that leaves you feeling special when you leave! Our party of 4 was anxious to this experience after making reservations several weeks in advance. Walking into Le Colonial was eye candy, for sure. It's a beautiful restaurant! We were escorted to our table, anticipating a nice, lingering evening of cocktails & dinner. Instead, we were "rushed" through the ordering process, being advised that the chef desired to have everyone's order all at once. And with that, the "fast food at a fine restaurant" experience began. We were enjoying cocktails when the "rush" began! Everything we ordered from apps to entrees were delivered to the table all at once. I suppose that could have been tolerated, had the dishes actually fit on the table, which they did not! So we were knocking elbows just to serve ourselves. When it was time to pay the piper, we requested two checks (two couples) and were informed that our request must be approved by the manager, then were advised that's against their policy!! The food was very good. Unfortunately, the overall experience left all four of us with a "bad taste" in our mouth. And, we all remarked that we were hopeful things might change for the better, given the beauty & ambience. We wish them well! read more

Truly mediocre. Requested banquette for Anniversary celebration but were sat at the smallest table in the center of the room pinned to a center table in a near empty dining room at 5 pm on a Sunday. Occasion not acknowledged. Our waiter did not even greet us just asked what kind of water he could sell us then proceeded to rattle off his spiel about the menu while glancing around the restaurant avoiding eye contact in almost indecipherable "English" before even taking a cocktail order. Our conversation was interrupted twice in 1 minute by bussers who wanted to take our half eaten first course dishes. Pork and shrimp spring rolls very oily but tasted good. They tell you how to eat them which is pretty assuming.... Ceviche, flavors ok, but dominated by soggy salmon which was in slices that were not fully disconnected making it difficult to eat. Continued on to the pho, broth was rich and flavorful veggies and herbs fresh rare beef went into the bowl, tenderloin nice but not necessary and flavorless. Ribs very overcooked stringy and overly sweet typical of Chinese takeout ribs over undressed pre mixed veggie slaw. Brussels sprouts best thing we ordered. Skip the garlic noodles too they were dry and bland. We were asked if we wanted to take the unfinished food home and I said it wasn't worth it. Waiter took offense and brought over the exorbitant check for 3 drinks, a soup, 3 apps and 2 sides for $180.00 without even offering dessert. Would recommend you avoid this Naples location tourist trap. I've dined at the Chicago location and the food and service were excellent. Total fail in my opinion. read more

Visiting from Cleveland and Le Colonial was suggested by our friend Ron - it didn't disappoint. Sat on very pleasant patio (inside dining has a more elegant vibe). Lucky to have Chad as our waiter. Shared appetizers - ribs, crispy egg rolls and ravioli - they were all outstanding! Salmon was just a little bit over cooked but tasty. I have been to most restaurants on 5th Ave Naples, and this place wins the prize. They are doing it right. I went to celebrate a milestone birthday with 2 other guests. The attention to detail is impressive. I dropped my fork and before I could look up someone was there to replace it. The restaurant was still quite busy although the typical madness of the season had died down. The decor and ambiance is first rate. We ordered three cocktails to start which were delivered timely and were made well. I wanted to try an array of small plates to start. We had the beef ravioli wrapped in rice noodles (spicy and addictive), garlic noodles & garlic string beans( outstanding) and the most mouth watering heritage pork spare ribs! I am already thinking about ordering when I return again. I shared the duck entree for two which was absolutely divine. The other entree was the uniquely seasoned salmon also cooked to perfection as the chef recommends medium rare. The portions are generous. We ended the evening with room for only 1 dessert which was the crème brûlée. Delicately light and creamy with the right amount of crunch on top! I had to compliment the GM, Sean, on what a fine job he is doing. Needless to say I look forward to many more dining experiences there. read more

Just when you thought it wasn't possible for 5th Ave to be any tonier, along comes the brand new Le Colonial restaurant. This Naples location is the most recent addition to a small, elite chain that started in Manhattan in 1993. According to their website, the founders set out to capture the seductive spirit and vivid flavors reminiscent of Saigon in the 1920's. It certainly has reimagined that era with its sumptuous décor (truly one of the most beautiful restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining at), creative cocktails and delectable menu options. On the night we dined here I started with a fantastic green makrut gimlet, then split the beet salad with wasabi guacamole, the fresh green papaya salad and their signature crispy red snapper which is a whole fish finished tableside. Everything was interesting and delicious plus the service was impeccable. I imagine this will be a popular restaurant where Neapolitans go to see and be seen for years to come. Reservations are challenging to get, so now might be a good time to try Le Colonial before all the snowbirds return. read more
