We dropped in to check out the Sizzle week experience. We were greeted with enthusiasm and seated right away. Our service was wonderful and attentive. I have been to Veranda E several times and last night was a miss. The Monk Fish was deep fried, overcooked, dry and the crust was too hard to break into. The desserts were just ok. Other guest ordered the Thai Fried Chicken and was told it was not spicy and it was. Once again the chicken was over cook, dried out and tough. We all understood the restaurant is outside, what we did not understand is that there is no accomodation on the part of the restaurant to keep their guest comfortable - not enough fans and not able to move the limited cooling elements. Just a thought! Put the tables closer to the cool air supply and under the ceiling fans. On a positive note our server was very polite. read more

Little hidden jewel inside Hotel Escalante. This very cool restaurant sits under a terrace which surrounds a pool and the hotel bungalows. Fantastic service and food. My wife and I enjoyed the Grouper while our friends shared the fresh catch Snapper. I tried some too, excellent! We enjoyed several appetizers, all great! I normally don't order desert, however they had a flour free chocolate cake which I paired with an Italian desert wine. Oh my!!!! Valet parking is available, but on the opposite side of 5th Ave, down the alley. Be a gentleman, drop the ladies off at the hotel first. It's a short stroll. From beginning to end Veranda E is Exceptional. The ambience is that of a quaint Italian village, the service like no other.. Our wine and calamari starter, ruined me in that I will never eat calamari again if not at Veranda. I had the black cod, perfectly prepared, my husband the sea bass, I was looking for a taste but it was devoured before I could ask. After our meal our waiter brought us a cordial glass of chocolate wine. I don't particularly like sweet drink but I was delighted by the subtle chocolate taste.. it was delightful and a great finish to an outstanding meal. We will definitely return next winter and will make our reservation well in advance. Our friends that invited us received a last minute reservation confirmation. Made a reservation 3 weeks ago. Showed up at restaurant and as we are exiting Uber we see some folks doing the same . We both had reservations confirmed and they told both parties (our foursome and the other folks) that yes, we had confirmed reservations, BUT that they were not serving anyone but hotel guests. (This place is inside a hotel). The manager told us we were call and emailed but neither our party r other folks were ever informed. So, they are using a reservation system that takes your reservation, confirms it but you may NOT get seated... LOST our biz . Went to Bice next door - excellent service and wonderful meal. The garden setting for Veranda E is very special and the service is professional, relaxed yet attentive; however each of the 3 dishes we ordered was poorly prepared. The seafood dish was overcooked and swimming in oil and the vegan dish was undercooked and tasteless; the salads were limp and lacked any energy. I didn't take any pictures but we had the calamari app which is corn dusted calamari steak pieces that was so very tender. The menu was adjustable to accommodate gluten free needs. Lovely service, lovely ambiance, delicious food. I love to try new restaurants, and this was the highlight of my week. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Downfalls: no bread, and no liquor license. They're up front about the liquor license, and I'm fine with wine, but if you enjoy a good cocktail, you'll be disappointed here. Clearly though this hasn't impacted me enough to reduce my rating. Salads were fresh, interesting, and dressing was flavorful. Some of the highlights: the Kung Pap Calamari was BANGIN', and not what you'd expect (not "rings and tentacles"). The tempura tuna was cooked perfectly, rare with a crunchy coating. I also begged a side of the truffle risotto from the waiter - worth the off-menu ordering! Cheesy and satisfying. All in all, a very enjoyable meal and would be back. read more

A New Star Shines bright over Hotel Escalante's Veranda E Last night my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining on the patio overlooking the pool at Hotel Escalante's charming Restaurant Veranda E. The atmosphere was lovely. I felt transformed like I was eating at a villa in the south of France. We were a little concerned about the outdoor dining on such a warm day, but they have outside air conditioning to keep you nicely cooled off. We stopped by earlier in the day to check it out. At that point we met Chef Chris. He took the time to explain his summer menu to us. It was interesting and tantalizing to learn the careful thought process that went into each item on the menu. Now we were really excited for dinner! We were greeted warmly when we arrived. The staff was both friendly, helpful and professional. We sat down to order some wine. My friend Tracy had a Prosecco and I had a 1/2 bottle of the Honig Cabernet. I love when restaurants have 1/2 bottles. We cruised over the menu one last time and then placed our order. I started with the Montrachet Goat Cheese Wontons. They were served with a Raspberry Coulis ,Crème Fraîche and Slices of Granny Smith Apple. It was sweet, savory ,crunchy and tart all in one bite. I was in heaven! The flavors were delicious. Tracy started with the Octopus Carpaccio. It was served with Spicy Wakame, Arugula, Crispy Baby Octopus, and a Yuzu Herb Vinaigrette. It was tender and warm . All the beautiful flavors melted in your mouth. For our main course I had the Duck Confit Ravioli. It had Glazed Vegetable, Charred Cipollini Onion, Pickeled Enoki Mushrooms that were sliced thin. It was phenomenal! Wow each bite was better than the next. Tracy ordered the House Made Fettuccine and Tiger Prawn It was a Butter Poached Tiger Prawn. Shaved Asparagus, with a Outstanding Citrus Tarragon Butter Sauce. The Tiger Prawn was so big it wrapped around the homemade fettuccine. In the first bite she new she had a winner. The flavor combinations were lovely. A little fresh hint of the sea along with the citrus tarragon was magical. Now it was time for desert. I started with the Raspberry and Dark Chocolate Tart. It was everything you dreamed it would be. The crust was done to perfection and the rich dark chocolate paired with the raspberry was the perfect ending for me. Tracy had the Hand Whipped Lemon Ginger Ice Cream. It was light and refreshing. The lemon and ginger parred nicely. Chef Chris is the new star! In 2 weeks he put together a menu that enticed us to choose Veranda E over all the others. His food is so thoughtful and creative. I have no doubt that he has a very bright future ahead of him. I Highly recommend you pay a visit to Veranda E in your near future. What enticed us to dine here was the Sizzle Restaurant Week. All the local restaurants put together a 3 course menu for $36.00. It's a great time to check them out. I give Chef Chris Berube and his staff 5 stars for our magical dinner. Thank you Chris. Had a reservation there for a month for Friday night 11-3-23 the funny thing is they take your credit card so if you cancel within 24 hours of reservation they charge you 25.00 per person. We get a call at 10:30 telling us that they received there permit to remodel and they cant honor our reservation that next day. Well we didn't get 24 hours or anything for our trouble. Totally unfair. Party of 6 people and we had to go and find ourselves a restaurant. Will not ever go there again. Don't feel this is the way you treat customers that come there a couple of times a season. read more

This was our second visit to Veranda E and we chose to come for our anniversary. The previous time I had had the grouper which was exceptional along with the beet salad. Both were a serious disappointment tonight. There was no love in the food. At $49 a plate for the grouper, we expected it to be as good as last time. This time it was over cooked. The Brussels sprouts were over cooked as well and the rice was cold. We had the calamari as a second plate and that was good, but a bit heavy. Good to share. We told Francisco the grouper was over cooked, and he did not offer to bring us a new one. We finished with the chocolate torte for dessert and that was cold and stale. Such a disappointment overall. The manager came to speak with us after we paid on the Toast device and indicated the fish was over cooked. He asked us to try them again. We will see.....so many other options in Naples. read more

The setting of the restaurant is quite nice as there are tables set outside around a pool with a canopy of trees. The entrees are grossly overpriced - think $55 for a piece of fish. The entrees were well prepared, but not worth the fare. The real disappointment was the dessert. There were 3 choices and we chose the Lava Cake. What came to our table was a brownie with no lava, it was dry and cold. After I complained to the server, the manager came to the table with a definite attitude. Instead of apologizing, he had a confrontational approach. I pushed back that no "lava" cake should be served without lava chocolate inside, it shouldn't be dry and shouldn't be cold and I won't be paying for the dessert. I just had some of the most amazing food at Veranda E. #HiddenGem We sat with Chef Bryan and talked about why he became a chef and what influences his menu items and he explained all the dishes presented and we took a tour of their onsite garden. We had: 1. Hot-n-Crunchy Black Grouper Sautéed with Almonds, Sesame Seeds, Ginger and Chili Flakes with Mango Chutney Sauce and Tropical Rice. 2. Ginger BBQ Boneless Beef Short Ribs, Maui Onion Rings & Garlic Mashed Potatoes. 3. Kung Pao calamari that were flash fried, and served with a caramelized sugar/Baijiu sauce with Thai chili's, garlic, green onions and of course, peanuts. This was some of the best calamari I have had. 4.Heirloom Grits are mixed with aged Gouda cheese, Nueske's bacon, peppers, garlic and onions and deglazed with wine, cream and butter.
