Had lunch at Mimoto based on Yelp reviews and glad we did! When you step inside it's a very nice minimalist decor with bamboo furniture. We went 30 mins after they opened so we were seated right away. We ordered dumplings for appetizers Opted for the presets: blue fin tuna, poke and nigiri. We finished our meal with a Japanese pancake with red bean filling paired with matcha/vanilla ice cream. Very traditional Japanese cuisine experience. Highly recommend when in the downtown Naples area

Amazing Japanese Restaurant and Cuisine. The experience at the Sushi bar is the best! It's not a basic Sushi restaurant but more of a traditional Michelin Japanese cuisine. They prepare all plates in front of you and it's art. The ambiance is calm and relaxing. From the nigiri, to sashimi, to maki, to Zenzai, to Hon Maguro, to Soup, to Ika, to Donburi, Udon Noodle, everything is fresh and amazingly delicious. The Chef is very skilled and passionate. I believe it's hands down the best Japanese restaurant of Naples, Estero, Bonita, Fort Myers and I plan to come every week going forward. It's a gem and I felt in Japan for a bit of time. Love it.

Everything is absolutely fantastic here! You literally cannot go wrong with anything that you order, highly recommend.

By far the best sushi experience I've had in SWFL. The minimalist design of the space and ambiance is the perfect vibe for the sushi Mimoto is pumping out. We had a ton of ahi tuna and every piece melted in your mouth. The sake was spectacular as well. This is a must try for sushi lovers in SWFL!

    So thoughtful and well presented

Mimoto is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Naples. Everything from the decor, to the interesting menu, to the food quality and presentation, to the service are up to true Japanese standards. Anyone who has been to Japan knows that they aim for perfection in everything they do! The restaurant is small and intimate, with a beautiful sushi bar framed in light colored wood and minimalist in style. You can watch the sushi chefs at work if you sit at or near the bar area. The menu has some traditional Japanese favorites such as the California roll, but consists mainly of items with a twist. All items with crab are made with real crab, not the fake "krab" used in many restaurants. There's a large selection of both sushi options and hot dishes. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, but our favorites were the udon noddles topped with crab, the eel on rice dish, and the California roll topped with tuna. The drinks are equally impressive, from the Saketini to the surprisingly green colored matcha IPA. They also have a nice selection of sakes at a variety of price points. Our server was very nice and attentive, and let us taste several different sakes until we found one we all liked. I highly recommend Mimoto to anyone who enjoys high quality Japanese food served in an authentic atmosphere. TIP: If there's no parking in front of the restaurant, try the back where there are a few additional spaces.

I love Ichi Togarashi, so I wanted to try their new sister restaurant. And let me tell you, it was the perfect night. Please be sure to make reservations because you will not want to miss this place at all. The creativity and flavor in their food makes it one beautiful art piece. There was not one bad bite the entire night, and I loved watching the sushi chefs at work. The staff is so kind, attentive, and incredibly warm, as well as the atmosphere. I will most certainly be coming back, Mimoto is unforgettable!

Exquisite flavors combined with an inventive and elegant Japanese dining experience that goes beyond the traditional sushi menu. One of the loveliest lunches I was lucky enough to enjoy on my visit to Naples. My lychee/sake based cocktail was on point too! Can't wait to return.

Pre-Set Nigiri Lunch (Scallop, Hamachi, Salmon, Escolar Aburi, Bluefin Tuna, Salmon Ikura Hand-roll)

Came in for lunch almost on a whim and was pleasantly surprised at both the quality of ingredients, and the preparation. The appetizer we ordered (Salmon Tiradito) and the maki roll (escolar) were also quite tasty. I'd say the flavor of the rice was the highlight of the experience. The interior is aesthetically appealing, service was quick and friendly, and sitting at the bar is always a pleasant experience entertainment-wise. Will definitely be returning again.

Tuna cut roll, wrapped in rice paper, instead of Nori. The rice paper is delicate and has an excellent malleability. Excellent tuna!

We ate lunch during the week at this lovely authentic Japanese restaurant, and can finally say that Naples has a wonderful sushi place. After over a decade on the West Coast, where good sushi restaurants are abundant, everything here is Asian fusion (Thai/Sushi-adjacent) and except for KJ's on 5th (which is no more) we have been a little disappointed. The dining experience here at Mimoto is as it should be for folks looking for the art, intention, and mindfulness, of the culture, and attention to the quality and preparation in Japanese cuisine. Well done Mimoto !

What an amazing diner; such a fine cuisine. Everything was delicious. Definitely one of our Top 3 Asian restaurant in Naples.

A Hidden Gem in Downtown Naples -- Don't Sleep on This Place!…read more I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was buzzing -- the outside patio was at full capacity. I asked for a seat at the bar, and even though space is very limited, the staff went above and beyond to find me one. That kind of effort on a packed afternoon says a lot about this team. The bartender was phenomenal -- attentive, warm, and somehow managed to make every single person at that busy bar feel like they were the only guest in the restaurant. The whole staff carried that same energy. They were also wonderfully descriptive about the daily specials and menu offerings, which made ordering a pleasure rather than a guessing game. I decided to try the crab cake, and I'm so glad I did. I grew up on the East Coast eating crab, and I've had my fair share -- I've long held that Phillips in Maryland made the gold standard. I am happy to report that Captain & Crew has dethroned them in my book. This crab cake was pure lump crab meat, not overpowered by fillers or seasoning. You could actually taste the crab. The accompaniments they served alongside it elevated the whole dish even further. Thoroughly impressed. The wine pairings were equally well-curated. I took the staff's recommendations and they absolutely nailed it. A heads-up for first-timers: parking is the one small challenge. There's no convenient lot right there, so you may need to use a parking garage and walk over. Honestly? Embrace it. If you're already in Downtown Naples, it's a beautiful stroll that perfectly sets the mood before you arrive. Captain & Crew is a true hidden gem. Many people come for the fresh seafood market, but don't overlook the restaurant side -- it's absolutely worth your time. Highly recommend.

After sitting down, we started reviewing the menu and saw so many interesting items that it was difficult to choose. Fortunately, our server noticed we were struggling and she offered to help navigate us through our meal. Our goal was to sample a variety of options, but not to over order. And we accomplished just that! We started with some Stone Crabs, then some Peel & Eat Shrimp, then my wife and I shared an entree of Blackened Grouper with sides of fries and coleslaw, where we also added a few scallops. Delicious! We thought we were done, but our server informed us of the excellent Key Lime pie. We had room to share one slice, and we are so happy we did! It was excellent. A great balance of tartness and sweetness. We look forward to returning!

Met a buddy from Seattle for my 73rd birthday lunch. Known him for 51 years…read more I got there when it opened 45 minutes before reservation. It was great. Sit wherever you want. Sat inside people and car watching. Cars were by far more eye-catching than women. Ferraris, Lambo, Aston Martin, Bugatti, real lookers. Friend showed up on time. Hot bread arrived. Plenty of good olive oil on table. He had tri-colored salad and I had seafood salad. Not a trace left of either although mine could have had less creamy lemon vinaigrette dressing. Word to wise, perhaps ask for it on the side. He had veal shank with risotto. Me? I had the corvina stew. Ask for a spoon, it's that good. Ordered sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes with herbs. Only thing left was a few grains of risotto and 7 small pieces of the potatoes. The shank was arguably the biggest portion I've seen. Since it was my birthday we were comped a dessert, double espresso and a cappuccino. Plus the dessert had a lit candle along with a table side a cappella Happy Birthday. Although other tables were occupied we had privacy regarding our conversations. Alex was spectacular. Puglia area native. I recommend this place. Great time.

I actually can't reconcile how this place garnered 4.5 stars, it makes zero sense to me. I…read moreshould've been leery to begin with, as we were able to get a table for six with less than 24 hours notice, at 6 PM. This does not happen during spring break in Naples at a good restaurant. Let's start with the atmosphere: this is not a fine dining establishment, especially when you compare it to everything else you get to experience on 5th. Some of the most upscale and beautifully adorned restaurants and businesses call this street home, but we chose Pescheria for a moderately priced meal, which is not what we ended up having. It's not a terrible atmosphere, but it's certainly casual. My whole group was very disappointed to learn that this restaurant only serves beer and wine, which further entrenched our belief that we were at a casual, affordable establishment; frankly this should've been the red flag to go elsewhere, but it's pretty slim-pickins around the dinner hour last minute in Naples, so we stuck it out based on the great reviews. The bread service is good, but don't bother asking for butter, they said they have some but never brought it to the table. They do have a great wine list, especially if you like Italian reds; definitely the best part of the experience. Our group ordered two of the Dover Sole special, a pasta dish, and a grilled branzino. I'm partial to both of the fish; some of the branzinos and soles I've had have been memorable and delicious, so I do tend to seek them out. If you also love branzino, you probably know that $50 is on the high end of what you would generally pay, and Dover sole might get you up to 60. If you eat in restaurants, you also know that it's common practice for servers to tell you the prices before you order, so you don't have to embarrass yourself by asking for the price of a dish you want and then denying yourself because of the price. Here, they don't tell you the price, and if you're an idiot like me you'll just go ahead and order it assuming it's reasonable like the rest of the menu. My branzino was $70, and the Dover sole was $75, and frankly I wouldn't have ordered them at all, let alone paid a fortune for them after I tasted each of these dishes. Branzino was cooked nicely and deboned well at the table, but that's pretty much it. The fish had zero flavor whatsoever. The Dover sole had flavor, but it wasn't a good flavor. It was fishy. And when we told the staff that the fish was fishy-tasting, they argued with us incessantly even though we told them we're not asking for a discount, we are simply letting them know so they pay attention for the next diners, but that wasn't good enough for them. They continued to argue with us before we finally told them to walk away and leave us alone. So in hindsight, there isn't a thing that would bring me back, not the atmosphere, frankly not even the wine list (it's Naples, throw a rock in any direction and you'll break a great bottle of wine); not the service, not the price, not the cocktails, not the food. And if none of those check the boxes, somebody please tell me what the appeal is, because I'm not seeing it. Don't worry though, if you don't like your meal you'll be gaslit into thinking it's fabulous because the server can show you pictures of himself fishing (I'm not making this up).
