Escargot 51 is a hidden gem that the tourists haven't found yet. Tucked in the "crotch" of an L shaped strip mall it is easy to miss, which we did for many years. Now that we have found it, it is in the rotation. For starters, love the smoked salmon and the French onion soup - maybe the best in town. If you like escargot, there are about eight preparations, something for every taste. For mains, all of the fish is good, including the shrimp entree, as is the veal with apples and mushrooms. We've worked our way through the dessert list and nothing disappoints. Also a full bar and a good wine list with selections at multiple price points. Service is never an issue - everyone is warm and attentive. It is often our go-to pre-theatre because we know the kitchen is quick when you need it to be. read more

Very easy making an rsvp online for a Friday night. Restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a shopping plaza which made parking pretty easy. We were greeted by the host and sat down right away. It is a very beautiful restaurant and service was very good. Only complaint is, it's very expensive. Which I hate complaining about pricing because it is clearly on the menu but I felt the portions were small for what you are paying and nothing gave us a wow factor. We have been here about three times and brought another couple with us the last time because we enjoyed our first two experiences here. We all enjoyed the sophisticated adult ambience, The service once again was excellent. Our server this time was Luci and she was excellent. The menu is creative and well executed. We are looking forward to the opening of their new Piano Lounge next door. I did have one issue this time. I ordered two bourbon manhattans which were quite good. The next day I looked at my receipt and noticed I was charged $74 for two manhattans. I have consumed nice manhattans at many restaurants in Naples and have paid $16- $24 but NEVER $37. I should have looked more closely at my bill when we were there. My wife an I like this restaurant and want to return again. We have enjoyable weather for outside dining and took advantage of it. Our waiter was charming and everything tasted good. I had the fish special (halibut) and my friend had the pork chop. We each sipped a French 75 with the Brie appetizer followed with wine for our dinner. We shared a slice of apple pie and espressos. Great hidden gem in Naples!! Even though it's tucked away in a shopping center with Big Lots, this is a very nice fine dining restaurant with upscale service. I went on a Sunday evening so it was practically empty. The decor was high end and classic. The atmosphere is very leisurely and reminded me of a true authentic French restaurant. All of our dishes were prepared well. The sauce with my duck was so rich and smooth. The portions were huge and I ended up only eating half. The beet salad was so well balanced with the earthiness and sweetness of the beets, creamy goat cheese and tangy vinaigrette. The almonds added a great texture. For dessert, I had the grand marnier soufflé. So decadent and light at the same time. I could tell the technique was perfect and soufflés can be tricky. All around, these guys know what they are doing and provide a nearly perfect dining experience. read more

Well if I could write a worse review I would.Yelp does not allow me to use a negative number or I would. My wife and I went to this restaurant on Valentine's Day since we had been here numerous time and had enjoyed the restaurant. We sat down only to find that the menu was price fix on valentines day. No a terrible issue except the price was extremely high for terrible choices. They did not even have a green salad on the price fix. Next we had called and requested a booth to sit next to each other. When we were shown to our table the owner said he cannot turn the table to allow this. No big issue except a couple that came in 20 minutes later we're seated this way. After that the duck I ordered was totally under cooked and it took me ten minutes to get a server to take the duck back. Three minutes later I had new microwaved duck. I do not like rubbery duck so this did not work. Once the waiter came over we complained and the owner proceed to come over and argue with me and said we should have known about the price fix and keep arguing that the duck was not microwaved. The owner did not offer to take the over priced food I did not like off the bill or even offer to but me a free drink. The waiter was slow and unfriendly at best. Excellent restaurant. Fresh food and quality. The cook "Nico" is French and from Marseille, like me, so I really appreciated the south of France flavor. You can order Escargot, pâté de campagne, Foie Gras and other top French food. I love it! The decor is nice even if the location is not the best, on the side of a mall. It's very clean, the terrace is nice and the staff from Europe too is amazing! Always smiling, polite, fast and fun! I truly recommend this little gem. I came already few times. Everything we had was delicious. The classic escargot was exactly as it should be and had plenty of garlic butter to enjoy with bread. The sauce on the escargot from the monks was so creamy and rich. The branzino had a very flavorful sauce and was light and tender. The sides with the branzino could be updated a bit (plain white rice and asparagus and carrots). Profiteroles were huge and very tasty. Coffee service comes on a fancy silver tray and makes you feel like you're in Paris. Tables feel a bit too close together - kind of like manhattan seating. Wow! Have to say, very under rated. Family of six and not a single person not 100% satisfied!! This is very hard task to accomplish. The staff were polite and accommodating as can be. My friends and I had dinner at Escargot 41. It was a fancy place - know that before you stop in, because we were underdressed. It's also expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion or date night. The interior is beautiful. Very fancy atmosphere. The waiter wore a tie. Super nice ambiance. Very intimate and quiet. The food was SPECTACULAR! As was the service and presentation. I had the scallops and shrimp (Fruit something...) which was absolutely amazing, as were the traditional escargot. We all enjoyed our meals and apps, except that one friend's fillet came out over cooked, then raw... then raw again... She ended up ordering the scallop dish instead, but the owner was very apologetic and comped her meal. We will all definitely be revisiting, as we had an excellent time. An excellent choice when in search of an intimate setting and fine French cuisine. The dining room achieves it's atmosphere by using up-lights that aren't too dimmed to read the menu. White tablecloths and English China suggest that your own manners be polished while you are here. I was happy to spot Canard Roti (roast duck) included with the entrees. My grandmother used to make this for me, so the dish was savored with nostalgia along with the delicious plum sauce. A timbale of potato mashed with herb was plated alongside the crispy duck with perfectly sized haricots verts (green beans), bunched and inserted into a circle of zucchini. Beautiful. With a fifteen minute notice, I was rewarded with a hot tarte aux pommes (apple tart), a la mode. Staff were very attentive and friendly, in an appropriately upscale kind of way. This meal was one of the best french meals I have had in some time. I travel for business and have tried many different places. The escargot was fantastic and onion soup as well. I had the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection and the veggies and sauce were a great compliment. We finished with the chocolate molten cake and coffee to end a pleasurable meal. There is plenty of room for improvement with both food and service for this significantly overpriced strip mall venue. We booked dinner to celebrate a birthday. We didn't see a dress code and considering this restaurant is located in a low budget strip mall, assumed casual attire was acceptable. When we arrived, the server looked our party of five up and down and told us we could not eat inside, but they would be willing to serve us outdoors. Photo below is the first of three times they tried and failed to get a medium rare steak done correctly. Broccolini was mushy and overdone. The duck entree was cold and tough, beyond well done and overall disappointing. There was tension coming from the server, over the steak, so we decided to keep quiet about any other issues. There are plenty of other examples of significant missteps with no attempts to correct, but the worst was when the venue intentionally marked our OpenTable reservation as a 'no show'. I doubt this was a simple oversight, as there were less than twelve customers there the entire time. Don't waste your time here. read more

I struggle to give this review two stars, not because of the food, but for the deceitful waiter. We were a table of six and the first thing he said was that the "special" was running out and he didn't want us to miss out. It sounded pretty good "Seafood Wellington" so four out of the six of us ordered it. To our surprise, when the bill arrived, the so called "special " was $74.95 which was at least $25.00 over the highest price entree on the regular menu. How is this a special??? When we asked him why he didn't tell us the price when ordered, he responded "you didn't ask". Since it was a table of six, he automatically added a 20% tip and did not offer to split the check between the couples. Manuel G. knew exactly what he was doing realizing a hefty tip for "encouraging" the "special". Although the food was pretty tasty, we will not return because of Manuel G. As we were walking out of the restaurant, it was obvious he was talking about us to his waiter friends. Shame on you. read more

A little hideaway in the Sax off Fifth shopping center and well worth the search. Our captain was knowledgeable in both the menu and wines and the waiters were attentive. I was happily surprised to find ris de veau, and was even happier to enjoy a well prepared version of this classic dish. My wife equally enjoyed her bouillabaisse and we shared a delicious crème brûlée  for dessert. Had I found rognons de veau on the menu, I might still be there eating! We've been to E41 a few times, each time excellent. But last night we took a large group (9 of us!) of family and friends. Everyone raved about their dishes. First of all the classic escargot is the best we've ever had. I'm not a huge escargot fan, but even I loved them! The duck, lamb chops, veal, salmon, bouillabaisse and sole were all fabulous! The most impressive was the fast and excellent service, and kudos to the kitchen for bringing all the dishes en masse, so we were all able to begin eating roughly at the same time. We dined here on April 16th which was our anniversary. We had heard it was good from friends so wanted to give it a try. It was a Saturday night and raining so we were given a table inside. We love French food and the food and service were very good. What was really bad was how LOUD the noise level was inside. I know many restaurants are noisy but this was just crazy. You couldn't hear anything without shouting across the table to each other. Needless to say it wasn't the best anniversary dinner. I hope the owners can figure something out to improve this problem because it really wasn't a good experience. read more

Located in an unassuming plaza, this restaurant hits high marks for it it's French cuisine. Went with my wife and mother in law while vacationing in Naples and we were all pleasantly surprised by the overall dining experience. Very attentive service and attention to details, all of our meals were superb. Mother in law said the best salmon dish she's ever had and wife had Dover sole which was again cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the crispy duck and would highly recommend. Place was booked on a Monday night but they squeezed us in early so the secret is out obviously. read more

Dined here on Sunday night, 3-12. Dined outside which is a pleasant environment. Ordered a Caesar salad, French onion soup, bouillabaisse and profiteroles. The salad was tiny, the French onion soup didn't have a cheese crust on top, rather a crouton with a little cheese on it (The French on 5th has French Onion soup to die for), the bouillabaisse for $45 was a deep bowl of sauce with not that much seafood and nothing else came with the entree and the profiteroles had mediocre chocolate sauce surrounding them. The meal for two cost $175 with tip. Given the very marginal quality of the food, it should have been $75. Stay away - not going back. read more

Reservations are required as the place is small, the food is made to order, and it is a popular establishment known for its exquisite cuisine. We visited today, took some effort to find the place (new address is 4351 Tamiami Trail, they moved next door), but it was absolutely worth it - amazing service and food. We had escargot, salad and crispy duck. All three excellent, but escargot and duck were probably more interesting. Dessert and wine choice were excellent as well. My wife and I found this on Open Table and Wanted to try. Excellent food. I had the Escargot Bourguignone (traditional in garlic butter) and my wife tried the Escargot 41 version in a Marsala sauce. Both were excellent. Then I had the Poulet a la Falcon du Pegot (chicken breast in marsala) and my wife had the Doversole special of the evening. Both well prepared and tasted great. What is really great is the owners and staff went out of there way to be check on us and make sure we were taken care of and our meal was great. I could not say enough how friendly they all were and wished us a great Holidays. I will absolutely return. We sat outside and under a heat lamp. It is in the corner of the shopping center and a little tough to find. Once you do find it..it is a little gem. The outside is tucked away from the parking lot and US 41 so all you hear is the fountain in the middle. You are able to have a nice conversation outside and enjoy your meal. Great service and very good French cuisine. Portions are perfect specially given authentic French cuisine is on the heavy side. We ordered the escargot - both the Escargot 41 and Bourgognion - both were great. The 41 is creamiest with a lovely champagne sauce and the Bourgognion is the more traditional with olive oil and herbs. We also ordered the spinach with beets and goat cheese salad and the iceberg wedge - both were made well with fresh vegetables. For entrees we ordered: the duck which was the best we'd had; the sweet breads which were rich yet very tasty; the beef Bourgognion - a classic and done well; the roasted chicken with spinach which had a lovely sauce; and the sautéed salmon in parchment paper which was light and buttery. All dishes were prepared in traditional, authentic French cuisine style and as such were successful. For desert we had the molten chocolate and raspberry Soufflé - both rich and decadent. Overall it was a great evening and we'll definitely return next year. The restaurant is located in a mall which doesn't look like the place you'd find good French cuisine but the lack of decor is made up by the attention to service and quality of ingredients. The wine list ranges from very expensive to moderately expensive wines. We had a 2008 Margaux which was priced in the hundreds but was good choice. Booked Escargot 41 for birthday dinner through Open Table. The bread was lukewarm and not fresh. The lobster bisque was broth that tasted fishy, sent it back and got the onion soup, very bland. My husband got the yellow squash soup which was excellent, it was the best of all our food. His lamb chops were basic, no seasoning, sides were so bland. My scallops were good but for $40, 4 scallops and 4 average shrimp, not worth it! I get an email from Open Table today saying the restaurant had canceled our reservation! I called the owner today who said that had happened 3 times lately but he had not done it, I also told him about our dinner, he had asked in passing last night if it was okay - we didn't want to complain anymore and said yes last night but I figured it was better to tell him today. He was dismissive and suggested it was a matter of taste and couldn't wait to get me off the phone, we will never go back. read more

One of the most lovely restaurants in Naples. Cozy, intimate and charming with some of the best food I have had in town! Wonderful selection of escargot. Most tasty and tender veal I've had anywhere.
