I had a very good experience for the first time that I have been here. This is a large restaurant with a large dining and a separate large bar area. The style of the restaurant is updated traditional Italian. Very pleasant and comfortable. Service is friendly, informative, and attentive. There is an excellent happy hour with a large amount of choices at very reasonable prices along with well drinks and wine. This visit was to the bar area for Happy Hour. Besides wine and a well drink that was fine, we had the following. Fried Calamari: rings only, no tentacles. It was perfectly cooked and served on a hot plate so the dish stays warm longer. The marinara sauce that is served with it is PERFECT. This is a wonderfully balanced sauce, not with a lot of garlic. So many American Italian restaurants are amateurs. They think that garlic is the answer to everything. In Italy, they do not cook like that. We also had the eggplant rollatini. It was delicious. Thin slices of not breaded eggplant with a very good ricotta cheese filling. Of course with other ingredients along with their marinara. The big miss though was the pasta with Bolognese sauce. The pasta was way undercooked and not properly drained. The Bolognese was not anything close. It was simply a meat sauce made with pork. Not that it was bad, it was good. but not a Bolognese. We told the waiter this and he went to the kitchen and came back to tell us that the description on the menu is incorrect. On the dinner menu it says in the translation that it is meat sauce. That is not correct. They need to change the menu. a Bolognese sauce is: Bolognese sauce, known in Italian as ragù alla bolognese or ragù bolognese, is the main variety of ragù in Italian cuisine, typical of the city of Bologna. Ragù alla bolognese is a slowly cooked meat-based sauce, and its preparation involves several techniques, including sweating, sautéing, and braising. Ingredients include a characteristic soffritto of onion, celery, and carrot, and different types of minced or finely chopped beef, often alongside small amounts of fatty pork. White wine, milk, and a small amount of tomato paste or tomato sauce are added, and the dish is then gently simmered at length to produce a thick sauce. This sauce was none of the above. I will definitely return and dine in the dining room. I'm sure that there are other dishes that will be great. read more

This was our first time dining at Bella Atelia in Naples. We had a early dinner and enjoyed the pasta primavera and pasta with garlic and oil with grilled shrimp. both were excellent. The restaurant has a nice Italian Flair with a bar and both indooor and outdoor dining. Service was outstanding--attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. Very good meal here. The room seemed a little noisy when we were seated but was fine once seated. Nice renovation from the previous restaurant. They put some crusty Italian bread on the table. Butter only but we did not ask our server for oil, balsamic and herbs. We ordered a bottle of the Chianti Reserva. It was reasonably priced and we all enjoyed it. The wine was lighter than other Chianti's and very enjoyable. Wr had mussels in a white wine sauce, I enjoyed it but my wife felt it was a little too garlicky for her. When I stepped here, I felt instantly at peace because wow, it feels like Staten Island (made me miss New York). The decor is bold and glamorous. Do you want to feel like you're dining in the Soprano's? Come here. Food was ok. Service was excellent. Drinks were okay (be mindful when ordering your cocktails to specify your liquor choices because I had a chocolate martini but they used well vodka and I couldn't finish it). My aunt was intrigued by the duck entree (Anatra alla Bersagliere) and we encouraged her to try something new, it was excellent. Was curious about this spot...Tried reservation on their website but there were 10 options of identification to hold a reservation..not inviting to start. So i went without a reservation...on a Sunday at 430pm...no hostess.. almost was leaving as someone came out as there is a bar in the back..that being said....the food was amazing AFTER a rough start. Meatballs and Ceaser salad were exceptional as was the sauce on the meatballs.. the tripe was tender and tasty as was the bosciola..Giuseppe was our server and was nice.. I saw 2 groups of people enter and leave as no one greeted them..I hope they get it together because tge food was good. BATTS LIKES THIS PLACE and will return. In my first visit here I tried the Bassa Oreganate (grilled white fish). It tasted fine but wasn't very filling. The only sides it came with were some greens and a very tiny potato croquette. It would have been better if it came with pasta on the side but it was $9 more to add it. This place does have a nice ambiance. They deserve a shout out in this competitive restaurant community! Super atmosphere, awesome service and so glad they are in the hood!! We went here for Christmas Eve. The food was great. There were many of us; my relatives loved the mushroom risotto and the shrimp/prosciutto baked ziti special. Also, the Bucatini pasta puttanesca was apparently delicious. I wanted to give this five stars!! However, the pappardelle bolognese wasn't as awesome as the other dishes...needs more flavor? Given the date of our dinner (Xmas eve), the wait time for our meals was understandably lengthy...but the waiter was on point with checking in on drinks, bread etc. Will try again on the next trip to Naples! We are always looking for new Italian restaurants probably reliving past glories of New York. Today we had such a lively surprise discovering a gem. Don't miss the eggplant rolatine. The blend of tender eggplant and ricotta in a sauce that had to start on mulberry street in little Italy. lol. We met the owner and it actually did. It was lunch so we couldn't order a lot more but I tried the chicken parmigiana with penne. And Bob had the Bolognese plus a meatball. So much like we remembered. It was lovely. I really wanted to love this place and had been waiting for it to open. First, the server took our wine order and when it was taking awhile to get it, another server came over and said "oh sorry, he doesn't really speak English and didn't understand what you wanted." So why did he come to take our drink order? Fine, no big deal. Other server took the rest of the order. Pasta came out hard as a rock and not cooked and absolutely swimming in oil. It was terrible. I suggested at home to make a reservation at Bella Atalia for later this week . What a surprise , I was denied because a minimum of three people are required to reserve a table . Four of us dined here tonight before going to a comedy show. The restaurant is beautiful inside with large horseshoe booths as well as tables. I asked for a booth on my reservation and it was noted by the hostess. We were served with water upon seating. Then bread was brought out to our table. Our server was both professional and personable. We each had different menu items. One person had the salmon. He asked to have it with pasta instead of potatoes but it was a $9 up charge. The salmon was cooked to his liking. Another person had the pasta, sausage and broccoli rabe with garlic oil. It was delicious and a perfect portion. There was just a little too much oil. Another person had the eggplant and she had a side of sautéed spinach. She said it was very good. The fourth person had pasta with clams and he said it was very good as well. 3 of the 4 people thought their portions were small and found it strange that the dinners only came with one side. All in all it was a very nice dining experience. If we end up in that area of Naples again, we would go back. read more

The reviews I have read on yelp state that service was bad and food wasn't flavorful -- let me clear the air... this was so far from the experience I had at going to Bella Atalia. My boyfriend and I took a chance and took my family for my dad's birthday. The food was beyond tasty, the service could not have been better. We were sat immediately by the hosts. Giuseppi could not have been more attentive, informative, and beyond pleasant. Even if the food was bad I would return for him. I will ask for him the next time I am back! A true fellow Italian straight from Napoli! The chicken parm, veal chop and manicotti were 10/10. The red sauce is *chefs kiss*. They brought tiramisu and sang to my dad. I think it was the best tiramisu I have ever had. To say I would return is an understatement and any bad review of this restaurant is inaccurate and unfair!!!
