A bit of a disappointment. We were told it was one of the best. Not feeling that way at all. Went for my birthday and wanted a special evening. I will say Alex gave us a wonderful table in a quiet corner. Since it was a Tuesday, we thought we'd start with a pasta dish. My husband had The Boscaiolo which was pretty good. I had the Carbonara which wasn't. Yes, I asked them to omit the egg yolk, but it seems they don't make the sauce to order so they just used pasta water. The bigger disappointment was the Zuppa di Pesce, which was supposed to have a light tomato brothy sauce and had a sauce that was more like Red Pack tomato puree, though I will say, the quality of the seafood was good. Waited 25 minutes for our table. Waited another 20 minutes for our first drink and over an hour before we even got salad or appetizers. Service was terrible, and the attitude of the wait staff was unapologetic and unfriendly. Clearly they were in the woods...at one point even the host had to bring us water. Several menu items were not available, though we were not told upfront, and the food was not up to par. Mussels were stringy, sauce on the mushroom ravioli tasted canned and beefy even though I told the waitress I eat vegetarian, main courses were not hot, sauce on veal piccata was congealed. The evening could have been saved if anyone on the staff had been interested, friendly, apologetic, engaging. Overall, we were embarrassed to have recommended Mare Terra to our out of town guests who insisted on treating us to dinner. Kitchen crashed the night we were there. Nearly two hours before entrees were served. The entire restaurant was at a standstill. Others walked out - we were about to. Felt bad for server. Management made no attempt to explain or make things right. Even sent them a note and they failed to even acknowledge it. My son and I were driving back home from Atlanta to Bonita Bay a week ago last Friday. My nav said I'd arrive around 9:30pm, and on the website, it said they would be open until 10pm. Since we'd be arriving so late, I called to see if we would be able to get a bite to eat at the bar that late. The owner/manager checked with the kitchen, and said ok. When we drove up, around 9:15, the parking lot looked empty, so I thought maybe they had left. But, no, he greeted us as we got out of the car, said he was glad we showed up. We were hungry, so we're damn glad they stayed open! There were at least 5 people waiting to take care of us. Of course, the food was excellent as usual. I won't forget the special treatment we got from everyone from the kitchen staff (they were tipped appropriately), the bartender and the guy in charge. Nice food service and atmosphere. We were there with a large group. We started with a caesar salad and a house salad. both were very good and not overdressed. My main dish was the veal Piccata. It had a nice portion and the veal and sauce were well prepared. I would have preferred a small side of pasta rather than the potatoes that came with the dish. This place is wonderful! You must check it out for the decor itself. Very urban chic with bright pops of color throughout. The colorful chair covers are so creative. We dined at Mare Terra for the first time last evening with friends, and the entire experience exceeded expectations. The service was terrific - Angelo was attentive without being overbearing. In fact, every member of the staff made us feel welcome. The food was equally impressive. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her salmon dish, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I ordered the Veal Milanese, and it was honestly one of the best I have had - crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned. The atmosphere struck the right balance of upscale and comfortable, making it a perfect spot for a nice night out. We are very much looking forward to returning soon. read more

Unbelievable....Decor is urban chic. Pops of color, ambient lighting, gorgeous artwork, so relaxing. AJ the best server ever. And he's from Tucson and so we connected, we both graduated from U of A. The food was spectacular, AJ made my Dover sole table side. The creamy caper sauce was amazing. My husband got chicken parm, not on the menu but they made it for him. The owner, Sal came by our table as did the manager. Full on customer service, stellar food, this place is a must go. Absolutely the best food, service and ambiance. We went there for dinner; made a reservation on Open table app but they weren't crowded on this Thursday evening. There was a young lady playing an electric piano and singing tunes by Billy Joel, Carol King and other easy listening artists. Place has a modern upscale vibe to it. They have a very large wine list that included some very high end and expensive wines. You can get 9 oz pours. They also have a small list of high end wines you can get by the 9 oz glass costing up to $60 a glass. My vodka martini was prepared properly and included blue cheese stuffed olives. My wife's 9 oz Cabernet was good. The bread provided was sliced ciabatta nicely toasted. Surprised no garlic and olive oil was offered with it. I had the veal Osso Bucco with saffron risotto and a small salad. My wife had the angel hair pasta with shrimp, crabmeat and spinach. Both entrees were quite tasty. This places wonderful food is delightful and filling, I have been here sampling through the menu for 2 weeks now. The food here does not take out well and must be enjoyed in their wonderful restaurant. What saddens me is the service is lacking, I have been given the wrong dish and argued with about the miscommunication. Today I was told I could order an item which I enjoy a lot that's featured on happy hour the bruschetta which is so refreshing. To be picked up. Who ever was assisting me made it an issue on me arriving. I have been given incorrect orders before and argued with. We've eaten at Mare Terra several times since it's opening in June and we will certainly be back again! Every time my husband and I go, we try something new and are always impressed. The drinks are top notch, the service is first-class, and both the manager and owner are friendly and accommodating. The ambiance is clean, white and modern but with bursting accents of bold color on the wall - beautiful gallery art that can be viewed and even purchased. If you're looking for some meal suggestions, I recommend the Insalata Tiepida di Gamberi e Calamari -- this warm salad full of grilled prawns and calamari and a delicious combination of eggplant, mint and pine nuts is a great meal on its own or as an appetizer. One of my favorite entrees so far is the Scaloppa di Vitello alla Milanese -- Perfectly breaded veal cutlets topped with arugula, baby tomatoes, sliced red onion, and shaved parmesan with drizzled balsamic glaze. YUM!! My husband's two favorite dishes are the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese with homemade tagliatelle pasta and traditional ragu bolognese and the Salmone Marinato, which is seared Atlantic salmon with a wine and fish fumet, mashed potatoes and spinach. Don't skip dessert! I get the Coppa Spagnola every time. Mare Terrible! Waited for meals for over 2 hours. The waiter dodged us and the owner was busy taking too many other complaints. The waiter gave me a dirty glass after unsuccessfully getting me 2 flat colas. When we decided to leave with boxed food, as it was getting close to 10:00pm, whomever boxed this meal was taking out their anger on us. What a nerve!! They need to get their act together. They blamed it on the kitchen and admitted they lost our slip. The owner did comp everything and was apologetic, but we left hungry and irritated. This was our first visit to Mare Terra. We invited Our friends, Charles and Ursula Massoud to join us. We especially wanted them to try out this Northern Italian restaurant, as they, as we know food and wine. They happen to own two North Fork, Long Island wineries, Paumonak and Palmer Wineries. This past year, Paumonak won both the Governor's Cup and Best Winery in New York State. We were not disappointed. The restaurant excels in all categories, ambience, service and Food. In addition, the acoustics are excellent. The noise from the conversations of adjacent tables were minimal. We could easily hear our own conversation without difficulty. We will be making this restaurant our regular place to dine. If you are on a limited budget, this is not the place for you. But, it is well worth the money. read more

This was the first time returning to this restaurant location in many years! It has changed hands many times, and never been successful; however, I think we may have a WINNER this time!!! The AMBIANCE is lovely/ completely redecorated- very light and uplifting! The SERVICE was superb! Erica served us with knowledge, good listening skills, and a great personality! The FOOD was good/excellent with a few exceptions. First, we arrived for the amazing 3 part prix fixe menu for $23.23/p, and there were abundant choices for each part! I forgot to tell Erica I had a Spinach allergy, and my spring mix contained Spinach.. when she saw I had pushed most of the salad away, she inquired, but I said not to worry; however, she returned with a fresh salad minus the Spinach! That does not happen often, if ever!! My entree was Chicken Marsala with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes- the sauce was the best ever! Lots of mushrooms, Marsala very smooth! Veggies were plentiful , mash was good - could use seasoning! My husband's entree was liver and onions with polenta and balsamic drizzle. He said his liver was very delicate, but polenta little dry and no seasoning again! DESSERT was tiramisu or vanilla bean gelato.. we had both! Delicious!! We went on a Tuesday with reservations at 6:30, meeting two friends there. The place was packed but we had no problem getting our table and there reservation texts were nice reminders to send out. Being so packed it was a bit of a wait getting drinks and the food was a little slow getting out. However the food was all very fresh and good. Portions were generous and we had a good time. Our server "Luciano" was top notch. He knew the menu very well and helped us choose some items and with pairing. Even though he was very busy he did his best to come by the table multiple times and check on us. The owner "Sal Sinzieri" came to the table and we spoke with him for awhile. Very nice man and even offered to take back an item I had ordered but read wrong. I thanked him but decided to try some new and enjoyed it! Rare for me. All the food was very well done and cooked perfectly. I'd prefer a little less salt but it was not over powering by any means. Try not to get seated by the servers booth as it becomes crowded with employees and can distract from conversation. We had an excellent experience at Mare Terra. We enjoyed the fixed price menu served 4-5:30 every day. Caesar salad was delicious, well-dressed. Husband had the gnocchi with Gorgonzola cream sauce. He was in heaven and I tasted it and can confirm that they were fabulous. I had the veal tortellini with bolognese. Also home-made with a tasty meat sauce. Dessert was tiramisu. Service was extremely attentive and efficient. Attention to detail is very evident. Oh, and did I forget to mention the individual toasted focaccia slices? All in all a wonderful experience.
