We started with caprese salad, fresh and delish. Hubby ordered Papadelle and short rib pasta dish which was amazing and I ordered butternut squash ravioli with sausage and brown savory sauce-out of this world. This was our first time here. Service was good, but not great. I think at this price point having a waiter stop and really speak with you about the menu would be nice. Ours was distracted, went over specials while filling our water. Zero personality and felt a bit like we were bothering him. The ambiance is pretty bright -yellow lighting and crowded, lots of tables in a small space. The waiter at the table next to us kept bumping into my chair and he kept looking at me like I wasn't in the right place. The appetizers were all amazing! So we were off to a good start! Caprese had a nice basil drizzle, the prosciutto was fresh. We had a long wait between apps and ordering. Once we ordered food came in a timely manner. The main meals were mixed. Tuna and chicken I would advise against. Seared ahi doesn't really pair with potatoes and Brussels. Just a weird combination of flavors and the fish had zero seasoning. Just plain fish. The chicken wasn't very flavorful either, bland. The lamb and steak were excellent and cooked really well, seasoned well too. The lamb came with a mushroom sauce on the side and that was brought when I was half way done so that was a miss. We had another long wait between getting the dessert menus and ordering so we needed up skipping dessert. Was really looking forward to eating here, it felt like it was supposed to be a quintessential Naples experience. Felt more like they just move tourists through. read more

I have always enjoyed my meals at Alberto's, I went there Friday evening, I made my reservation on Open Table for 3 inside and it was confirmed. I was told it was confirmed for two, the woman at the hostess stand asked to see my phone, while I was getting it she helped the next person, I showed her my confirmation for 3 inside, she accused me of changing the reservation. I told her I didn't she continued to argue, I said are you accusing me of lying she said Well. We had to take a table outside. It was a cold night and since I thought we were sitting inside didn't bring a jacket. They had heaters but they didn't work well, there were others sitting outside complaining of slime issues, I didn't get her name but she was young with long dark hair. The food has always been excellent and Friday's dinner was great just too cold to be eating outside when you were confirmed for inside. read more

Alberto's on 5th in Naples makes quite the case for dining out on a budget that doesn't feel like a budget. Their Early Bird-Late Night special--two courses and a glass of wine for $39--sets the stage for an evening that manages to feel indulgent without breaking the bank. Appetizers opened strong for my dinner companion, who ordered mussels and made short work of them with visible delight, later mentioning the broth could have used some oomph. I chose the burrata, which was perfectly fine but underwhelming--lacking the acid and seasoning that would have lifted it from "cheese and ham" to something memorable. Of course, it was still cheese and ham, so I wasn't exactly suffering. For mains, my New York strip was delicious in flavor but once again could have used more seasoning. The potatoes underneath it were dense, almost stiff, and not the most inspired pairing. Meanwhile, the tagliatelle with pesto and U10 scallops was a table triumph. The pasta was silky and spot-on, and although I didn't try the scallops, their size, color, and my companion's near-rapturous praise told me all I needed to know. Wine-wise, I went for the house Pinot Noir and was pleasantly surprised--it was smooth, easy to drink, and frankly too good for a "house" pour. My dinner companion doubled down on the Merlot, which she enjoyed enough to order a second glass. I'll take her word for it. Merlot and I have never been on speaking terms. Service was a highlight. Our server was warm, attentive, and seemed to genuinely enjoy his work--so much so that he doubled as a photographer for another table, gamely snapping a dozen shots without missing a beat. The bathrooms, too, were spotless and thoughtfully maintained, which never goes unnoticed. All told, Alberto's isn't perfect--seasoning seems to be their shyest kitchen hand--but the value, service, and charm are undeniable. At $39 a head, you leave satisfied, a little spoiled, and wondering how they pull it off. read more

The bartender who works most evenings is the most unfriendly and rudest bartender I have ever had in Naples. I like the ambiance of Alberto's, and they used to have a good happy hour, but lately they have really cut back on the quality and the quantity of the entrees they serve. I ordered a chicken marsala and my friend ordered pasta. My entree came out stone cold and the marsala sauce was so heavy it was like brown chicken soup. I let the bartender know and she could not have been ruder. She sent it back to the kitchen and it came out even worse. I called the day after to express my concerns as I thought the Manager would want to know given I have gone to Alberto's several times over the season, and that is when I learned the Manager is the bartender. She lived up to her rude and abrasive behavior. They lost a good customer. I hope the owner reads reviews and figures out the reason the bar is always empty every time I've been there is most likely because they have such a horrible bartender and Manager. read more

We happened upon this place while meandering up and down 5th looking at all the menus and ambiences of many places. The menu and warm atmosphere drew us in. After bing greeted by a very friendly young lady, we sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by Sophie who took care of us the entire evening. She poured us beautiful martinis and explained the menu and this history of Alberto's and his northern Italian roots and cuisine. Homemade pasta made our choice easy and we ordered fettuccine with seafood in a red sauce and pappardelle with short rib and shaved ricotta. I ordered the Taglierini Pesto Crab $41 and it was beautiful with plenty of crab. Just not a fan of pesto and wish I would have asked the server if the pesto sauce could have been substituted. Alberto's on 5th Avenue South in Naples. We dine there at least once a month. We enjoy the early dining menu. The early menu is perfect for older people. The choices are an appetizer and main. A complementary glass of wine is included. My wife had the beet and shrimp salad and the salmon, both were delicious. I had the soup and steak. We shared a crème brûlée dessert. I made the reservation and a question was asked, "is this a special occasion?" I answered in the affirmative. As it was my wife's birthday. My request was never acknowledged. We will continue dining at Alberto's it is an almost elegant dining room. Appropriate seasonal decorations are always present and very attractive. read more

We had an outside table just perfect for people watching. My spouse had the swordfish and thought it was fabulous. Perfectly prepared with a Mediterranean type tomato sauce and mashed potatoes and she loved every part of it. I had the veal ravioli with mushroom sauce and it was prepared wonderfully. What I discovered was you got a really love mushrooms if you order this dish. I liked it, and I eat it with relish, but did learn that I have a reasonably high tolerance for mushrooms, which this meal comes right to the edge of. It was absolutely nothing wrong with this meal just my preference. Service was quite good very polite and very attentive. Cocktails pure garbage. We had ordered many different entrees from lamb chops to various pastas and the red snapper. All sounded great on paper but were all bland and flavorless. Side pet peeve of mine if the 3% credit card fee, I'm already wasting $400 for dinner at your establishment, just increase your prices by 3%, for some reason I would rather that then to see a line item for the credit card fee, but maybe that's just me. We visited Alberto's the week of Christmas - it was warmly decorated and the service staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and well versed in fine dining. We enjoyed a bottle of Chianti, perfectly seared jumbo roasted sea scallops with onion confit & velvety lobster sauce, Pillowy homemade ravioli stuffed with veal and smothered in truffle oil & porcini mushrooms and their homemade tiramisu. It was truly a fantastic four course meal and a classic Italian way to ring in the holiday We've dined at several Naples & SWFL Italian eateries and Alberto's was very, very delicious! As we sit in the restaurant now, as our second time in three days, the food is extraordinary, however, the music is to be desired. I feel like I'm in a club in Italy and it's not quite matching the vibe of the exquisiteness of the food and soothing decor. And the music is coming from a kiss FM radio station. Ok, we're baaack. I got over myself from the last visit. LOL. When it comes to great entrees I really can't let an occasional upset ruin it for me. We couldn't stop laughing as we sat down very early on for the Early Dining menu. Our waiter for the third time was once again....you guessed it, Antonio! He was very attentive and we've come to accept him and not let it get in the way. No complaints about that anymore. We had a nice time. The food is exceptional. We have some of our favorites most times. It is soo good. The only entree that my wife decided to try differently, the Chicken with Marsala sauce she wasn't crazy about. Said it looked great but not much of a taste. Didn't finish the entree which is unheard of in our life. But the spinach salad with fig and ricotta her fave and always great. Three others had that salad and will get that the next time. I had the usual Burrata with ham for my third time. A beautiful place, and Antonio, if you're listening, it all went well and we appreciate it. Will bring others there as I've often told people to try this place. Some have and I'll be back sooner. We went for the early bid special (ends at 5:30). Was such a great experience! We get a glass of house wine, an appetizer and a main meal. I had the beet salad which has oranges and shrimp. It was so refreshing and delicious and a great light app to start my meal. For my main course I had the homemade pillow shaped pasta . The pasta was so delicious and the sauce was so tasty. Save some bread to scoop the sauce up at the end because you do not want to waste it! It was not very crowded at the Tuesday early bird, maybe 4 to 5 tables (including ours) were occupied and the wait staff was so quick and so nice. Would come back here again!! read more

I made reservations at Alberto's for my mom's birthday. When we were seated, I mentioned to our waiter, Fernando, that it was her birthday. Immediately, Fernando says, "just to notify you, we don't give free desserts"--how rude!! We didn't ask for anything for free and his comment made things awkward. I ordered a mojito and my mom had red wine. Fernando decided to pour the carafe of red wine two feet above the glass and splashed it all over the table. Totally bizarre. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the food is excellent. We ordered the spinach & ricotta agnolotti and pesto taglierini. Both dishes were delicious. After the birthday dessert that we happily paid for, another waiter, Antonio, approached our table. He segued from wishing my mom a happy birthday to asking me out with his business card. First let me say that we dined early for the "early bird menu". The ambiance and wait staff were exceptional. It's refreshing to see well trained wait staff and bar staff that can do their job with a smile and a bit of humor. The early bird menu had a good variety of items and included an appetizer, entree and a glass of wine. Everyone in our party of 4 completely enjoyed every bit of the meal.
