Enjoying a beautiful evening dining Alfresco with my sweet Mamma!

We enjoyed sitting outside right along 5th Ave! Our server, Slave was very attentive and helped me narrow down my decision. And he made an excellent recommendation!

    Tagliatelle al Pesto con Capesante

Alberto's on 5th in Naples makes quite the case for dining out on a budget that doesn't feel like a budget. Their Early Bird-Late Night special--two courses and a glass of wine for $39--sets the stage for an evening that manages to feel indulgent without breaking the bank. Appetizers opened strong for my dinner companion, who ordered mussels and made short work of them with visible delight, later mentioning the broth could have used some oomph. I chose the burrata, which was perfectly fine but underwhelming--lacking the acid and seasoning that would have lifted it from "cheese and ham" to something memorable. Of course, it was still cheese and ham, so I wasn't exactly suffering. For mains, my New York strip was delicious in flavor but once again could have used more seasoning. The potatoes underneath it were dense, almost stiff, and not the most inspired pairing. Meanwhile, the tagliatelle with pesto and U10 scallops was a table triumph. The pasta was silky and spot-on, and although I didn't try the scallops, their size, color, and my companion's near-rapturous praise told me all I needed to know. Wine-wise, I went for the house Pinot Noir and was pleasantly surprised--it was smooth, easy to drink, and frankly too good for a "house" pour. My dinner companion doubled down on the Merlot, which she enjoyed enough to order a second glass. I'll take her word for it. Merlot and I have never been on speaking terms. Service was a highlight. Our server was warm, attentive, and seemed to genuinely enjoy his work--so much so that he doubled as a photographer for another table, gamely snapping a dozen shots without missing a beat. The bathrooms, too, were spotless and thoughtfully maintained, which never goes unnoticed. All told, Alberto's isn't perfect--seasoning seems to be their shyest kitchen hand--but the value, service, and charm are undeniable. At $39 a head, you leave satisfied, a little spoiled, and wondering how they pull it off.

The food was very good though a bit on the pricey side. Drinks were good & bread was delicious. For such an upscale restaurant, we were very surprised at how cold & distant our server was. He never smiled, didn't engage us at all & seemed annoyed to be there. We are usually generous with tips, but not for him.....

Looking for a fantastic local, owner operated spot in the busy tourist area of Naples? Look no further than Alberto's on Fifth. We happened upon this place while meandering up and down 5th looking at all the menus and ambiences of many places. The menu and warm atmosphere drew us in. After bing greeted by a very friendly young lady, we sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by Sophie who took care of us the entire evening. She poured us beautiful martinis and explained the menu and this history of Alberto's and his northern Italian roots and cuisine. Homemade pasta made our choice easy and we ordered fettuccine with seafood in a red sauce and pappardelle with short rib and shaved ricotta. Yes, they were as decadent as they sound and priced very reasonably! We agreed that with the atmosphere, service and food all being outstanding we gave it a 10.

The chicken parm was perfectly prepared, the carbonara rich and authentic, and the chicken piccata balanced beautifully with bright, fresh flavors. Dessert took it to another level -- the gelato was fantastic, but the real highlight was the tableside homemade tiramisu, which was both impressive and absolutely delicious. A perfect ending... until the espresso martinis arrived. Smooth, well-crafted, and honestly some of the best we've had. What truly made the night unforgettable was the service. He asked what he could do to make it better, and I didn't really know what was wrong with it. Maybe there wasn't any simple syrup? We were fortunately seated outside, as it was very noisy inside. We had a great table and our server came with our menu and the wine list as well as some crusty bread. There are numerous salads, appetizers, entrees, and even pizza on the menu. I started with a Caesar salad, which I thought was super pricey, but was very good. I was able to enjoy it before I ordered my entree. I chose the gnocchi and a glass of wine. The gnocchi came out in minutes and was some of the lightest, fluffiest gnocchi I have had since New York City ages ago. Good choice. The server wasn't rushing us, but let us enjoy our meal at our pace, which was refreshing. Overall, nice experience.

First, was an attractive plate of lightly breaded hot and tender Calamari with a lemon parsley aioli. A top 10 presentation of this popular dish. The pan fried snapper sandwich was fresh and crisp with a vegetable giarderian topping. It's the little things that Campiellos does so well. Each sandwich came with marinated pickles and carrots along with hot feather-light potato chips with garlic and wonderful crispy parsley. The chips alone are worth the trip. Our second sandwich was the lobster salad which is described as spicy fra diavolo, but was more a lemon and chive taste. Delicious tender lobster and those sautéed chips with parsley are off the hook. We usually have the pasta for lunch and it is excellent. It's nice to see what a great job they do with sandwiches.

I would give that service 6 stars if I could! The drinks and the food were top notch. We had the Columba and Negroni and both were perfect. We shared bruschetta and burrata appetizers- fresh and flavorful. We ordered seared ahi tuna salad, margarita pizza and snapper as our main dishes and everyone was very impressed with their dishes. Thank you so much to the entire Campiello team for making my birthday extra special and that complimentary desert was a sweet touch. We will definitely be back because I'm determined to get a table on that patio next time.

I…read moreshould've been leery to begin with, as we were able to get a table for six with less than 24 hours notice, at 6 PM. This does not happen during spring break in Naples at a good restaurant. Let's start with the atmosphere: this is not a fine dining establishment, especially when you compare it to everything else you get to experience on 5th. Some of the most upscale and beautifully adorned restaurants and businesses call this street home, but we chose Pescheria for a moderately priced meal, which is not what we ended up having. It's not a terrible atmosphere, but it's certainly casual. My whole group was very disappointed to learn that this restaurant only serves beer and wine, which further entrenched our belief that we were at a casual, affordable establishment; frankly this should've been the red flag to go elsewhere, but it's pretty slim-pickins around the dinner hour last minute in Naples, so we stuck it out based on the great reviews. The bread service is good, but don't bother asking for butter, they said they have some but never brought it to the table. They do have a great wine list, especially if you like Italian reds; definitely the best part of the experience. Our group ordered two of the Dover Sole special, a pasta dish, and a grilled branzino. I'm partial to both of the fish; some of the branzinos and soles I've had have been memorable and delicious, so I do tend to seek them out. If you also love branzino, you probably know that $50 is on the high end of what you would generally pay, and Dover sole might get you up to 60. If you eat in restaurants, you also know that it's common practice for servers to tell you the prices before you order, so you don't have to embarrass yourself by asking for the price of a dish you want and then denying yourself because of the price. Here, they don't tell you the price, and if you're an idiot like me you'll just go ahead and order it assuming it's reasonable like the rest of the menu. My branzino was $70, and the Dover sole was $75, and frankly I wouldn't have ordered them at all, let alone paid a fortune for them after I tasted each of these dishes. Branzino was cooked nicely and deboned well at the table, but that's pretty much it. The fish had zero flavor whatsoever. The Dover sole had flavor, but it wasn't a good flavor. It was fishy. And when we told the staff that the fish was fishy-tasting, they argued with us incessantly even though we told them we're not asking for a discount, we are simply letting them know so they pay attention for the next diners, but that wasn't good enough for them. They continued to argue with us before we finally told them to walk away and leave us alone. So in hindsight, there isn't a thing that would bring me back, not the atmosphere, frankly not even the wine list (it's Naples, throw a rock in any direction and you'll break a great bottle of wine); not the service, not the price, not the cocktails, not the food. And if none of those check the boxes, somebody please tell me what the appeal is, because I'm not seeing it. Don't worry though, if you don't like your meal you'll be gaslit into thinking it's fabulous because the server can show you pictures of himself fishing (I'm not making this up).
