This restaurant has a great atmosphere if you like the classic Italian style. The soft lighting, plus red napkins with white tablecloths are a nod to the New York style of red checkered tablecloth Italian dining. The staff is friendly and they have classic Italian favorites with a variety of pizzas or pasta dishes like Melanzane Al Forno Con Mozzarella, which is the traditional eggplant dish. On the advice of the server, I ordered that and it was delicious with lightly fried and perfectly seasoned eggplant. Hubs chose the Ravioli Con Formaggio Al Forno and I've never seen cheese piled on so thick. This is good quality Italian cheese too. The Antipasto Freddo was a perfect start to the meal, with a variety of fresh vegetables and deli meats and cheeses. Next time, I'll try the Antipasto Caldo with shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and eggplant rollatini. It sounds delicious and speaking of delicious, those garlic knots were so flavorful. This Italian meal was very good and although we ordered takeout, I'd like to enjoy a meal in the dining area. This restaurant isn't cheap, but you get quality food for your money. We found the ambiance to be nostalgic of family run Italian restaurants from New York City. This is one of our friend's favorite Italian restaurant and they probably dine here monthly. The waiter was our friend's regular waiter when he dines here. He was very welcoming and provided great service. We started with warm garlic knot bread. OMG delicious. We had 2 friends that were looking for their favorite dish - Broccoli rabe and Italian sausage with orecchiette pasta. Even though this dish was not on the menu, the waiter asked the kitchen if it could be prepared for them. The Kitchen was able to accommodate except had to use a different pasta. My husband ordered lasagna, I ordered a chicken with pasta dish, 2 other friends ordered the pork chop special, and the chicken Parmesan. The best was the chicken Parmesan. All the dinners were just OK. They weren't anything wrong with them. We just had better elsewhere. The dessert we ordered was NOT good. Overall though it was a great night out. If you are looking for authentic Italian with reasonable prices and cozy old fashioned Italian restaurant atmosphere, this place is worth a try. read more

Food was excellent; we both had 9" pizzas.. The crust was crisp and thin and the toppings were fresh. Love the sauce...not too "tomato-y" but just right. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. Not sure why this restaurant has been receiving bad reviews, have never had a bad meal here. We just had dinner here last night for my daughter's birthday and we couldn't have asked for better service or better food. Everything from their garlic knots to their desserts were spot on. They had a lamb shank special last night that was fall off the bone amazing. The specials are usually our go to but the fettuccine with anything is a must, homemade/light and delicious every time. I have also asked them to make special off the menu dishes depending on what I'm craving and they have always accommodated and excelled which I appreciate from a good restaurant. We have been customers since at least 2020. But - things change. My wife ordered off menu for a chicken picatta and I had the seafood combination over a garlic and oil pasta. The chicken was so overcooked she sent it back. The mussels and clams in the seafood were thumbnail size, couldn't find the animal. The scallops tasted like they were frozen too long. The dish was covered in calamari rings - cheapest ingredient of course. For $135 including tip, we had 2 glasses of house wine, one meal, one beer (she did not want a meal after that) and one app. It will be a long time till we return. read more

Capriccio excels at mediocre classic red sauce Italian food. Although the portions are healthy, the kitchen needs help as their recipes and preparations just aren't that flavorful. My experience tonight was particularly distasteful as I requested meat sauce instead of marinara sauce on my side of pasta with my steak entree. I was up charged $6.95 for their bland meat sauce. Unfortunately, the server failed to disclose to me this charge at the time I placed my order. This additional cost was 20% of the cost of the entire entree and I had the displeasure of first learning about the charge when I reviewed my bill. I asked the server about her failure to inform me and she was simply indifferent. I then asked to speak to the manager about the surprise and she told me that the server should have informed me about the up charge. Nonetheless, she insisted that I should have expected the charge as if I was responsible for reading the server's mind. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

My second experience at this restaurant was just fair. Prices have skyrocketed over last year and the quality of the food has declined since my visit last year. No longer is a salad served with your entree. It used to be very popular and crowded and loud and "the place to be" but not now. The waiter was snippy despite the fact that the place was only half full. I asked if the pasta was house made and was told "of course". No way that pasta was house made unless she meant that it came from a box of dried pasta and actually boiled to order in their kitchen. This restaurant has good solid food. But what this restaurant has going for it is Chelsea the bartender. If you go, sit at the bar, at least for a drink. I have been in the hotel and restaurant business for 40 years. I was visiting from out of town and went more than once because of Chelsea; she embodies hospitality, confidence, service and what is just so hard to find in an employee today. After 2 years, things started to go south. Food not as good, prices understandably going up. We visited less and less. Last night we decided to go out for a special dinner and decided to give Capriccio another try. The bar was empty with the exception of one couple. Dining room fairly empty. Now for our dinner...prices were extremely high. No longer included a salad. An up charge. Switch your pasta? An up charge. My husband ordered Chicken Parmesan. A small piece and the cheese looked like packaged sliced Kraft. My husband NEVER complains! This morning, he said to me "I want to go back and talk to the owner!" This restaurant serves old school Italian at its best. My wife and I dined here last evening. I can't believe it has taken us 5 years living here to finally dine here. The dining room is smaller than I thought it would be. The restaurant reminds me of one that would be in Queens, dark, Dean Martin songs softly playing, and a menu with seemingly every dish one could want. Service was terrific and thanks to our server, Benjamin, for making it a stellar dinner. Our server suggested items that were not on the menu and I got the impression that if the chef has the ingredients, the kitchen will make any preparation you want. My wife started with an ice cold oversized Tanqueray martini. Salads are included with most entrees with a choice of dressings. The salads were cold and fresh. I added a cup of Minestrone soup, thick with fresh vegetables. She then followed the salad with meat lasagna, a house specialty. It was cheesy and meaty and not overpowered by pasta. I had filet of sole francese. Our server suggested this though there were no francese items on the menu. He said the chef would do shrimp, chicken, fish or veal all in that style if desired. The sole was delicious, the sauce heavenly, the portion large, the price reasonable. Decadent hot buttery garlic rolls were served wit the dinners also. I'm in town visiting my mom from Chicago. We spent our Black Friday at home decorating and being lazy, but decided to go out and do a little shopping around 7. Neither of us was particularly hungry when we started, but after the first or we have worked up an appetite. We searched for something nearby and found Capriccio's. My mom had not been there before, but Italian sounded good. I had my doubts that we can get good Italian food in sunny Florida, but I was pleasantly surprised. They didn't give you the good bread with olive oil and cheese, but instead these delicious garlic knots. In Chicago you're more likely to find those in a pizza joint, but they were really delicious and we enjoyed them. We shared a really delicious and authentic bruschetta loaded with tomatoes as will. For the main I had the appetizer special as my entree a portobello stuffed with vegetables. It was filled with spinach, artichoke, sun-dried tomatoes, & roasted red peppers, topped with cheese, and baked. Lovely. My mom had and enjoyed the scallops with pasta marinara. The ambiance is old Italian, something heavy about the colors, furnishings, and decor. The service was colorful but helpful and attentive. We'd be back for sure. read more
