Met a buddy from Seattle for my 73rd birthday lunch. Known him for 51 years. I got there when it opened 45 minutes before reservation. It was great. Sit wherever you want. Sat inside people and car watching. Cars were by far more eye-catching than women. Ferraris, Lambo, Aston Martin, Bugatti, real lookers. Friend showed up on time. Hot bread arrived. Plenty of good olive oil on table. He had tri-colored salad and I had seafood salad. Not a trace left of either although mine could have had less creamy lemon vinaigrette dressing. Word to wise, perhaps ask for it on the side. He had veal shank with risotto. Me? I had the corvina stew. Ask for a spoon, it's that good. Ordered sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes with herbs. Only thing left was a few grains of risotto and 7 small pieces of the potatoes. The shank was arguably the biggest portion I've seen. Since it was my birthday we were comped a dessert, double espresso and a cappuccino. Plus the dessert had a lit candle along with a table side a cappella Happy Birthday. I actually can't reconcile how this place garnered 4.5 stars, it makes zero sense to me. I should've been leery to begin with, as we were able to get a table for six with less than 24 hours notice, at 6 PM. This does not happen during spring break in Naples at a good restaurant. Let's start with the atmosphere: this is not a fine dining establishment, especially when you compare it to everything else you get to experience on 5th. Some of the most upscale and beautifully adorned restaurants and businesses call this street home, but we chose Pescheria for a moderately priced meal, which is not what we ended up having. It's not a terrible atmosphere, but it's certainly casual. My whole group was very disappointed to learn that this restaurant only serves beer and wine, which further entrenched our belief that we were at a casual, affordable establishment; frankly this should've been the red flag to go elsewhere, but it's pretty slim-pickins around the dinner hour last minute in Naples, so we stuck it out based on the great reviews. The bread service is good, but don't bother asking for butter, they said they have some but never brought it to the table. They do have a great wine list, especially if you like Italian reds; definitely the best part of the experience. Our group ordered two of the Dover Sole special, a pasta dish, and a grilled branzino. I'm partial to both of the fish; some of the branzinos and soles I've had have been memorable and delicious, so I do tend to seek them out. If you also love branzino, you probably know that $50 is on the high end of what you would generally pay, and Dover sole might get you up to 60. If you eat in restaurants, you also know that it's common practice for servers to tell you the prices before you order, so you don't have to embarrass yourself by asking for the price of a dish you want and then denying yourself because of the price. Here, they don't tell you the price, and if you're an idiot like me you'll just go ahead and order it assuming it's reasonable like the rest of the menu. My branzino was $70, and the Dover sole was $75, and frankly I wouldn't have ordered them at all, let alone paid a fortune for them after I tasted each of these dishes. Branzino was cooked nicely and deboned well at the table, but that's pretty much it. The fish had zero flavor whatsoever. The Dover sole had flavor, but it wasn't a good flavor. It was fishy. And when we told the staff that the fish was fishy-tasting, they argued with us incessantly even though we told them we're not asking for a discount, we are simply letting them know so they pay attention for the next diners, but that wasn't good enough for them. They continued to argue with us before we finally told them to walk away and leave us alone. So in hindsight, there isn't a thing that would bring me back, not the atmosphere, frankly not even the wine list (it's Naples, throw a rock in any direction and you'll break a great bottle of wine); not the service, not the price, not the cocktails, not the food. And if none of those check the boxes, somebody please tell me what the appeal is, because I'm not seeing it. Don't worry though, if you don't like your meal you'll be gaslit into thinking it's fabulous because the server can show you pictures of himself fishing (I'm not making this up). read more

What a fabulous dinner we enjoyed at this delicious Italian seafood forward restaurant! We enjoyed the frutti di mare, lightly fried to golden perfection. The smelts were a table favorite! Fettuccine bolognese was hearty and had a dept of flavor. The red snapper was thoroughly enjoyed with the briney olives and capers. And My dish of delicate corvino fish poached in a delicious white wine broth with artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes and leeks was skillfully layered in flavors! I have tried a lot of Italian places in Naples and La Pescheria has definitely been my favorite so far! The food is authentic and fresh. The manager or whoever was running the restaurant was very kind and accommodating. We did not feel rushed at all. Seating both indoors and outdoors which is nice. Seafood pasta was so delicious. The tomato salad and burrata apps were sooo good. The olive oil was so tasty. Husband said the chicken parm and sauce was very good. Definitely will be back and recommend to others. Came here for dinner, it wasn't very busy, but we came pretty early in a day. Service was friendly and attentive. We got great wine recommendations. Restaurant itself has great wine selection and a very large menu of food. They bring bread that is complimentary and amazing. We started with grilled calamari that were cooked to perfection. We also had pear salad that was delicious but a little different from what we expected. For main I got seafood pasta and my husband got clam linguini. Both dishes were great. Definitely great food! Ambiance is more traditional and older vibe. Bathroom definitely needs a remodeling. For the price they charge I would expect a little better interior. We visited La Pescheria this evening and were delighted with our experience. Francesco was amazing -attentive, knowledgeable, and it was obvious he truly enjoyed his work. The menu is seafood forward. My hubby enjoy the grouper with crab and lobster special. I had pasta pomodoro. Both dishes were served promptly and were delicious. We enjoyed cappuccino and home-made tiramisu for dessert. Although the restaurant was packed there was no pressure to finish our meal. We've enjoyed many wonderful Italian restaurants but we agree this was one of the best experiences we've had! read more

Had a marvelous dinner last night. The grilled calamari is to die for. We followed up with the snapper and fettuccine bolognese. A nice bottle of pellegrino made it pefect. For those of us who do not drink, too many servers are judgmental when you do not order alcohol. There was none of this at La Pescheria. A restaurant that is a real gem with super delicious food. I had the Ravioli Di Aragosta (lobster ravioli) and it was delicious. They constantly refilled our water and everyone is so sweet. The music was lovely and the outside dining looks comfortable. Dining experience was OK. The burrata ($19) was very good, the accompanying tomato didn't taste like it was in season. It was firm, but the only flavor was from the oil and herbs which were sprinkled on it. The Pesce Griglia ($65, split) was excellent, and the accompanying veggies were perfect. Brightly colored, crisp and cooked perfectly. We sat at a small table outside. A server plopped a basket of bread on our table, then we were left on our own. Other tables had servers, just not ours. We eventually flagged down a server and asked for menus and olive oil for the bread, which then arrived a few minutes later. Some time passed before another server came over and asked us if anyone was helping us. It was like our table was invisible. Our water glasses were emptied and not once did someone come by to refill. The tables are quite close to each other, it was impossible not to overhear conversations from those in nearby tables. There was not enough room for our server to debone the Branzino at our table side, so he did so behind a glass door which allowed us to have a view. It was awkward. read more

Located in downtown Naples the restaurant wasn't full the Friday after Thanksgiving. We decided to sit outside even though the restaurant was open to the outside since the weather was nice. My in laws came to this restaurant before and since we weren't very hungry we decided to order the calamari salad. The owner/manager greeted us quickly, sat us down and took our orders right away. We had bread and butter with the salad which was all we needed. The ambience was good as well as the service. Prices were high but then again we're in Naples. We had a quick meal so I wasn't able to take in too much of the restaurant but will try to come back later to try other dishes. read more

We were excited to try La Pescheria after reading all the great reviews. It was good but certainly not great. We started with the seafood salad which was totally unremarkable. My wife then ordered the Covia and she said it was excellent. I was already getting tired of seafood so I ordered the fettuccine with meat sauce, and it was okay but under seasoned. What really made the meal unenjoyable, however, was our waiter. We could barely understand him and he literally came by every 60 seconds to see if we were ready to order. Verrrry annoying. I always try to look at both the good and the bad in every restaurant I eat at. However, La Pescheria has very few positive aspects to mention. First of all, the service was excruciatingly slow. It took well over half an hour for the appetizers to come out, and well over an hour for the main meal. The server rarely come over to check on us, fill our waters, or assure us that the food will be coming out soon. Meanwhile, he was waiting on the next table over hand and foot, perhaps because they ordered several expensive bottles of wine (that he kept pouring for them, while joking and flirting with the elderly ladies at the table). This is not the type of discrimination I expect to receive when spending money at a high end restaurant. Moreover, the salmon that I ordered was relatively bland, as were the accompanying vegetables, which tasted like they came out of a packet of frozen vegetables from Costco. read more

La Pescheria has been a family favorite for years because of their fun staff and awesome menu. We did a non traditional Christmas Eve this year and dined at La Pescheria. I love linguine with clams and this may have been the best bowl of it I have ever had! Extremely simple and fresh ingredients done well. My brother had the bolognese which was also excellent. The lobster ravioli surprised us all because we are not the biggest ravioli fans. However, these were stuffed with plenty of lobster and had a sauce that was not overly rich. We ended with some cannolis and tiramisu. I am a harsh critic of tiramisu and this one was amazing!! The cookies were soaked with rich coffee and the marscarpone was light but just sweet enough. This is a review of their lunch. I have no idea what this place is like in the evening hours or during a busier time. My husband and I were the only patrons dining at the time (early), and were treated like royalty. We stopped in on a whim one late morning for a special lunch. The first thing that got my attention was how flippin amazing their waitstaff is. 5* staff with total attention to detail. They understood how to navigate the fine line between ghosting your table and being overbearing with water refills and whatnot. They were also very helpful and helping us choose what would be best to order (something I rarely ask staff). We had a few dishes and each were simple, clean, and straightforward. We enjoyed the food immensely, but it was a bit standard and nothing totally blew me away. I stand behind my 5* review because of how much we enjoyed ourselves here. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. Fresh linens, a wonderful breeze to cool off the open/outdoor dining space, and smart decor that immersed me in a carefree dining experience. Plus, eating on fifth with a view of the street is my favorite. The people watching is beyond entertaining. In all, the food is GOOD, not amazing. Service is impeccable. Strolling around Naples to meet a good old friend from Italy we decided to hit La Pescheria for lunch. At first we made friends with the server Cinzia, who .. amazing to think is from our very same town in Italy... The fresh warm bread and oil you get served right away took me back to home tastes. We've been to this restaurant about a dozen times over the past 5 years and the food is consistently very good and flavorful. Our waitress Cinzia always brings a smile to our table and is very knowledgeable about the food choices and how they're prepared. We tend to go during off season and early (before 5:30p) so finding a table has never been a problem for us. read more
